Migration manual

HI
I'm looking for the migration manual to copy a solution manager 3.2 system to other hardware and other DB.
We want to copy from Windows/Orcale to Windows/MSSQL
I can't find it on service.sap.com/instguides.
Can somebody please help me
Thx

Hi,
Since you are migrating from Oracle to MSSQL , this is called a heterogeneous system copy or OS/DB migration. You can find more information on this on https://websmp107.sap-ag.de/osdbmigration.
DB Migration is basically done with Export/Import functionality,SAP Provides tools(R3load) to do this.

  • Application content migration manually from EP 6.0 to EP 7.0 EHP1

    Hi All,
We have EP 6.0 portal system running on windows 2003 server and oracle .We have another EP7.0 EHP1 portal system installed on AIX 6.1 and oracle. The present portal is connected to BW, CRM and ECC systems and
also lot of customization is done in NWDI. The customer is requesting for manual migration of Iviews, user, roles, customized applications etc. from EP6.0 to EP7.0 EHP1.
Is it possible to go ahead and do?
    Any implication are there?
Please provide your valuable suggestions and feedback in this regards.
    Thanks & regards,
    Vidyadhar K

    Hi,
I don't think so it is possible because version of both the portals are different. So, might be you can face some issue.
    Thanks

  • Reasons Adobe should write a migration manual from FH to AI

    what my friend wrote me...
About FHMX, how about educating people why Freehand is so
    much better than
ill, and publishing a migration guide from ill to Freehand.
    Maybe you and I
can join Adobe and implement this program! As a matter of
    fact I've already
written the introduction to the guide.
Top reasons why I love using Freehand MX over Illustrator for
    the work we
do. Try it, and you'll like it too.
•Gouping and ungrouping is time consuming in ill. If an
    object on the bottom
is grouped, the whole group is selected. Selecting the bottom
    object is
useless unless you ungroup all. Very time consuming.
Freehand can select one element even if it's part of a group.
    • It is common in ill & FHMX to hold down shift
    while clicking on objects to
select several at a time. ill has a tendency to 'pick up'
    & move those
objects as your moving from one to the other. Which means
    having to back up
your last step and then continue.
•• ill select/same/stroke colour, fill colour
etc. VS FHMX 'find & replace'
In ill available only 'document wide' which forces you to
    take the selection
and place it in a new document (usually a temporary measure
    ill forces upon
    you).
All this copying takes extra time when the art is complex.
Since changing colours is often the goal, opening a new
    document means
having to drag into the new doc, all the colours you'll be
    needing to
    change.
Also when choosing same fill & stroke colour, ill doesn't
    catch everything,
so you have to try several times to get everything.
FHMXs 'find & replace' runs on whatever you select,
    without requiring
    copying
the info to a new document, so there is no waiting like in
    ill. And it
catches everything all in one shot. Wham, bam thank you maam.
    FHMXs 'find &
replace' light years ahead of ill.
    • Multiple page documents
FHMX multi page documents can be of different sizes and
    orientation within a
single document. Ill must have the same size and orientation.
Ill allows only one page size & page format while FHMX
    permits you to use
any combo within the same document, all with the click of a
    button. Job's
    done.
ill: go into doc setup and calculate new overall width.
    "let's see I need 5 pages of 8.5x11 so that's 8.5" x 5 pages
    =42.5" width.
If you add a page, all the doc info gets shifted off center.
    Ill requires
you to select all, (make sure nothing is locked!) and
    recenter all the
pages. All time consuming and unnecessary in FHMX.
Ill can't handle multiple pages when it come time to print
    them all. In
order to be able to print an 8 page document with simple
    vector art (without
any linked files) in illustrator, it was necessary to convert
    the document
to 8 single page documents. Each page took 5 minutes , 40 min
    total.
FHMX prints multiple page documents with no hesitation.
••ill has no collect for output. This is
    ridiculous. FHMX enables you to
enjoy creating freely without having to think of where that
    tiff you just
imported came from. When the art is finished in FH, click
    'collect for
output' and in under 5 seconds a complete folder is created
    of everything
you need to backup that artwork.
Never spend one second looking for anything again when
    opening a freehand
document. Not today, not tomorrow, or in three months.
In ill, after the art is done, you need to spend the time
    looking for those
linked files, to gather them into a folder. And when a
    deadline is so
important, will you actually take the time? NO! So days,
    weeks, or months
later, when you need to open the file and the tiff is
    missing, well, I hope
you like treasure hunts, because with time tiffs can be moved
    or go missing.
With this one feature, FH saves hours of time per year over
    ill.
•Pathfinder/combine in ill is slow ad often crashes the
    program. (See next
point) Freehand unite is Fast!. ill requires you to ungroup
    all elements
before using the filter. FHMX doesn't.
    ••Paste inside.
FHMX enables you to use garment sketches without modifying
    shapes to
accommodate a tiff pasted inside. Tons less work over ill.
    'Paste inside' in
FHMX is fast & effortless, encouraging you to paste
    inside each individual
shape of the garment. (Ex. Belt loops, waistband, pockets,
    body. All get
their own tiff pasted inside.) This gives the artist freedom
    over each
individual tiff. Changes can be applied in light/dark or
    angle to each tiff
    seperatly from one another.
Ill cannot do this without a massive investment in time, it
    doesn't even
compare with the ease of FHMX. ill method is also a pain to
    work with ,
requiring you to lock/unlock items as the masks bounding box
    is often in the
way. This requires you to lock nearby elements in order
    select. Very
annoying. This work around is so time consuming it
    discourages you to paste
inside individual shapes. In fact it's impractical to do so.
    You're forced
to combine all shapes and paste one tiff into this one
    overall shape, which
is time consuming because it increase your workload to
    achieve a lesser
    result.
Ill requires you to draw a duplicate shape which must lie in
    perfect
register with the shape underneath it. Shapes are often
    composed of highly
complex components (ex:text) that need to be united into one
    overall shape,
to paste into. Often these complex shapes crash illustrators
    unite filter,
making the job time consuming or impossible. FHMX requires
    none of this
workaround, because FHMX enables you to past into individual
    shapes.
FHMX can even paste inside a paste inside, and in easily
    accesible layers,
creating realistic effects. Don't even dream of doing this in
    ill.
•ill toolbox. The 'Venus' girl at the top of the box is
    often clicked in
error resulting in an annoying 'Adobe online' dialogue box
    appearing. So
annoying! Bury this feature elsewhere, or at least move it
    away from the two
arrow tools, the two most used tools of the whole program!
    Stop interrupting
    workflow!
    •Ill locking unlocking frenzy
You'd like to add a point to a path. In FHMX, select the path
    and click on
    it
with the pen tool. You're done.
In ill, select the path and click on it with the pen tool +.
    But ill adds
the point to the path in front, even though you selected the
    one in back!
Ill forces you to lock the front path to get to the rear
    path. If your
artwork has many layered paths, get ready to go on the usual
    locking frenzy
until you get to the path you need. All this just to add a
    point.
As an added bonus, ill often throws the "Can't add an anchor
    point. Please
use the add anchor point tool on a segment of a path"
    dialogue box in your
face, as if you can't aim a point on a path.
    Paste inside
    • Because paste inside in ill is so complicated, a
    common workaround is to
create a pattern swatch to achieve the same ease as in FHMX.
    However pattern
swatches are simple vector paths that can't match the
    subtlety of a tiff.
When opening a new document, swatches have to be brought in
    to the new
document to be used.. When changing a pattern colour, a new
    swatch has to be
created, which is more time consuming than changing the tiff
    colour in FHMX.
    5 seconds vs. 5 minutes
    • The arrow+ tool in Ill selects in increments of one
    group at a time. FHMX
selects in increments of one element at a time, giving the
    user greater
    control over elements within groups.
    • In Ill before using Pathfinder/Unite, you should
    save, because pathfinder
tool often crashes the program. Since large documents take
    time to save,
waiting time in Ill multiplies. FHMX doesn't crash when using
    the pathfinder
tool so much time and frustration is saved.
Sometimes Pathfinder in Ill just won't work the way it's
    expected to. I wind
up importing the art into FHMX where it works fine and
    instantly.

I think what Morty said needs to be reminded here:
    quote:
    quote:
Should we read anything into Adobe putting out the Freehand
    to
Illustrator migration guide you posted about?
No, that's something that Adobe has planned for quite some
time. I hinted to its release several months back when we were all
discussing how Adobe should produce such a document. This "rumor"
that I refer to is something that surprised me as well. I have yet
    to confirm it though...
    Mordy
Since Adobe was planning this for some time, let's not jump
to conclusions. Mordy did confirm to us that there is indeed a
Product Manager for FreeHand. Also, it's interesting to note that
Adobe has a different situation on their hands than they did with
Pagemaker. What we have is two competing (?) programs, FH and Illy,
they are both truly loved by their devoted users. Adobe probably
realizes that they gave to keep both because the users of either
program have been devoted for years. Neither Illy or FH users would
be happy about migrating. Adobe I'm sure will keep both programs
(at least I'm hoping they are smart enough to). When Adobe migrated
Pagemaker users to InDesign, InDesign was a new tool. Illy is old
like FH...you ca't force a migration to a tool that is just as old
as the one your migrating from.

  • Migration woes (mail in particular) PPC iMac w/ 10.3.9 to new Mini w/10.5.4

Me: mac user for 20 years.. web master, and unix not-quite-guru .. so don't be shy and no need to use small words in suggesting a remedy.. at this point I'll hexedit raw HD sectors if I have to...
Mother has an aging iMac, Power PC, one of the "lamp" style.. which has only a CDRW drive, so w got her a new Intel Mac Mini for xmas.
Brought a Firewire cable along and figured Migration Asst would do the job, read a few web pages about it last week in preparation, or so I thought.
Booted her new Mini and opted to transfer data from another Mac... as directed, I rebooted the old iMac with T and saw the Firewire symbol dance around its screen.. I believe at some point it settled into the center and stopped moving.
The new Mini would not recognize it.. giving an error message along the lines of "there are no OS X volumes".. which is patently untrue since she is running 10.3.9 on the iMac (there is an old 9.2.2 System folder there too). 10.3.9 was selected as the "blessed" Startup folder.
So I saw the ethernet option and thought "aha, we'll skin this cat that way instead".. connected the ethernet cable and got the helpful instruction to insert the Install Disc #1 and copy Setup Asst over to the old iMac and then enter a 6? digit code to authenticate.. ok, nice idea, except the install disc is a DVD (dual layer at that I think) and the old iMac can't read DVD (smack some co-op at Apple for not considering that).. even worse, despite 15 minutes of searching I could not simply find this application anywhere on the Apple site for download directly to the old iMac....
so abandoning those ideas, I found a knowledgebase article about migrating manually.. so I continued the new user acct setup on the Mini and got that finished.. then launched the migration asst on the new Mini (from the Utilities folder) and it took quite a while, but finally the HD in the iMac appeared (the old iMac has one and only one drive, the original internal one).
So I copied her photos, music, addr book, ical, mail, bookmarks, keychains, etc info over.. and per the KB I copied the mail plist file from prefs.. the KB says that is all I would need and Mail "will do the rest"...
Not so much... I can see her saved mail folders on the new Mini.. .and I can see in Finder and in Terminal that they should contain old mail (~50 MB worth, these folders exist and are very non-empty).... but inside Mail, no messages appear at all, nor her Inbox (ie. mail she had downloaded already on the old iMac, but not yet saved to a folder, nor deleted)
I am totally at wits end.. ideas?

So in the end, I erased all the Mail I copied over originally, and the prefs file, and started a new acct with her info and imported all her old mailboxes (having saved her old Inbox to a "savedinbox" mailbox, in case Inbox importing didn't work).
Gotta say, couldn't have been more disappointed with the Migration Assistant, which in the end did not a bloody thing for the transition. Thankfully her usage of the old iMac was simple and not that many files... one would think it would be the easy and ideal case for Migration assistant to handle.
I'm marking this as answered only b/c I'm not going back to do this again.. she is up and working and I won't know if any proposed solution actually works.

  • Data issues in Migrating Essbase(BSO and ASO apps)from Server 7 to Server 9

I was able to copy application one is BSO another one is Aso
Both APPS ARE CLEARED IN BATCH FILE.
Budget data excel and flat files is loaded to BSO, calcualation for current year data is done the some for budget files loaded and then calcs are executed.
Then the data for curent year is extracted from bso
then this data all such previus yr and prev exports are loaded to ASO
Then agg is enabled in ASo
All this is done using a batch which call s 10 maxl and which in turn load data and run staggered calcs.
But the issues is Data is not matching after perform these steps in Server 9 at many intersections
Every artifact/var are copied, batch logs are success but still data does not match vs Server 7.
I believe some extra data is generated by Creteblockoneq, createnonmissblock and other calc functions.
I tried copy/Migrate/Manual copy but nothing worked.
Data analysis shows atleast some extra recored are generated after calc in export file
    Help needed?

    Hi
    Thanks for the reply.
    There are no rejects.
I am exporting level 0 data and loaading it to ASO.
And, the issue includes both points-
    1)Extra data points coming in
    2)Some intersections data is missing
It is like 80% data is matching
It seems some essbase Calcs calculation way is modified although not sure.

  • Migration Assistant can't find mounted external disc

Running Snow Leopard on newer iMac Dual Core. Trying to migrate users of dead G5. The G5 User data is intact, and on an external disc, and was transferred to this external disc from the G5's HD, by techs at The Apple Store. The specs of this external drive are:
    30.74 GB
    Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    S.M.A.R.T. Status : Not Supported
Partition Map Scheme : Apple Partition Map
    Mount Point : /Volumes/Macintosh HD 1
The external disc mounts to the desktop, but Migration Assistant just spins and spins looking for it, without success.
I have tried to boot from the external drive; Restart/Option does not result in the external disc as a startup option.
I'm thinking when the Mac boys wiped the external disc to make room for the G5 User data, they reformatted the disc to non-bootable. In an experiment, Migration Assistant easily found and transferred User data from my laptop (when restarted in target disc mode).
Is there a way to help Migration Assistant find this external disk - or an option that transfers the User files intact from the external drive to the new SL machine?
    Thanks,
    lex

    lexsongs wrote:
+then MA will not work on it, period. you need to migrate manually. Migration assistant does not give a hoot what the partition scheme is on the drive you are migrating from so don't bother with that. the partition scheme on your main drive should be GUID but it's probably that already.+
+P.S. if you still have access to the old drive of the G5 then you can migrate from that drive directly.+
Thanks V.K. I did open Disk Utility and was ready to change the partition scheme (on the external disc) to GUID, but based on your last post I will hold off.
Yes, I have the old G5 HD, and will get some help with connections for migrating - or will build an enclosure (or have one built) and then use MA to move the User folders. In the meantime, I can still access the data in all User folders on the external disk.
if all the data you need is in the user folders you can simply do the following. drag a user folder from Users on your backup drive to the /Users folder at the top level of the main hard drive. make sure you don't have another user by that name already present there. you'll need to authenticate with your admin password. once you copied the user folder to Users on the main drive go to system preferences->accounts. unlock the lock at the bottom, click on + and create an account with the same short user name as the name of the folder you just copied to Users. it will tell you that a home directory by that name already exists and ask if you want to use it. say "yes".
Question: What allows MA to work with the original G5 HD but not with the copied User data on the external disc?
I don't know the exact innerworkings of MA but it clearly checks the drive to see if it recognizes it as something it can possibly migrate from as it needs a lot of stuff present to work. It doesn't just migrate user folders. it migrates applications, some library files etc. so unless it sees a full clone of another system drive or a TM backup of another drive (which both have all that stuff present) it won't even try migrating.

  • Can't migrate security

    I'm trying to upgrade 5.2 to 6.3.
I tried to do a test migration by copying the production ldap instance folder into the test server. The test server doesn't have 5.2 installed, just the instance directory I copied from production. When I use dsmig to migrate the security settings, I was prompted for the old certificate database password:
    root@ldaptest-c:/opt/SUNWdsee/ds6/bin# !257
    ./dsmig migrate-security -v -p 389 -P 636 /opt/ldap/serverroot/slapd-salt /opt/ldapdata/salt
Backing up file (/opt/ldapdata/salt/migration/migration_status) ..... DONE.
Launching Security Migration of server instance /opt/ldap/serverroot/slapd-salt .....
Stopping server instance /opt/ldapdata/salt ..... Directory Server instance '/opt/ldapdata/salt' is not running
Enter the old certificate database password:
Certificate database password has not been stored.
    /opt/SUNWdsee/ds6/bin/dsadm exited with error 11.
    Operation "migrate-security" failed.
The person who setup the old instance didn't remember setting up a certicate password and I can't find any information regarding this on the migration manual.
I also tried setting up a fully working 5.2 instance by copying 99user.ldif from the old server, use db2ldif and dump the data, and loading it. When I tried to migrate the fully working 5.2 instance, it didn't prompt for the password.
Is the password prompt normal since the production instance wasn't originally installed on the test server?
    thx,
    mike

    Hi,
I've got exactly the same problem. Has anybody a solution?
    What have you done mliang2?

  • 8.0.5.2.3 to 8.1.7 Migration

    Hello,
I am doing 8.0.5.2.3 to 8i migration manually. As indicated in the document, when I try to start the dB in RESTRICT mode I am getting an error message indicating that the dB is already started. When I checked the error, it appears that when the service is started, the dB is also mounted. So without starting in RESTRICT mode I continued migration as 'internal' user.
Migration completed successfully without any errors and I am able to start the dB in 8i.
Question is: Do you think that not starting the dB in RESTRICT mode will cause any issue even though migration completed successfully?
    Thanks
    Suresh

    Hi,
No issue, the meaning of restricted mode is that no one connect to oracle database while migration is going on.
    Thanks

  • User Defined datatypes migration from sqlserver2000 to Oracle

    Hello,
Need help on the below for sqlserver 2000
    a. Whether the current version of Oracle Migration WorkBench
    supports migration of userdefined datatypes
    b. A list (or a doc listing) the limitations of Oracle Migration WorkBench, from the perspective of what all needs to be migrated manually.
    Thanks a lot

    Cyril,
Have a look at the users guide and the reference guide for SQL Server on OTN. UDTs get mapped to their base types through the Migration Workbench.
Look at otn.oracle.com/tech/migration/workbench and click on documentation. All the user guides and reference guides are here.

  • Is it a must to migrate 3.x DataSources

    Hi,
We have BI 7.0 newly installed, DataSource activated from Business Contents are in 3.X version (e.g. 2LIS_11_VAHDR).
What is the best practice to these 3.x DataSources from Business Content? Is it recommended to migrate them to newer version?
I read some comments that there are risks do to the migration (e.g., transfer/update rules gone missing/not properly migrated) and it will not be supported by SAP after migration.  Is this true?
I believe these 3.x DataSources from Business Contents are quite matured by now.  By doing migration, manual conversion of transfer & update rules to transformation rules may be necessary, and this can significantly increase the development time and additional testing (for something already working in older version) is required.
For new DataSources to be develped, we will definitely follow the new method.

"I read some comments that there are risks do to the migration (e.g., transfer/update rules gone missing/not properly migrated) and it will not be supported by SAP after migration. Is this true?"
Yes the update and transfer rules will be deleted although you can do back up  and later recover them.
"We have BI 7.0 newly installed, DataSource activated from Business Contents are in 3.X version (e.g. 2LIS_11_VAHDR).

It all depends on when you want to migrate. You could wait until the SAP delivers all the reqd business content for transformations etc but there is no exact timeframe on when that will be happening. Only thing is you will be missing the new 7.0 features.

  • Email Migration - Sendmail to Oracle Email

    Hi,
I have read email migration manual. They have mention, how to migrate from Lotus Note and Exchange. What about from Sendmail (on RedhHat 9) to Oracle Email???

Notes and Exchange are both systems that handle end-user mailboxes for permanent storage, archival, client access etc..
sendmail is just a mail transfer agent (transport program) to exchange mail between hosts. sendmail does not handle mail user accounts. this is done by local server programs on the receiving machine (mostly by a program called procmail, which writes the data sendmail received into a file, eg. the und users mailbox).
so there is nothing to migrate from sendmail to Oreacle Email, because both things happen on different stages of the delivery process.

  • Automating LCM Migration

We are running Planning 11.1.2.3 and would like to keep the applications in our PROD & UAT environments in sync. Currently perform LCM migrations manually once or twice a month; We export the PROD artifacts and import on DEV. However, we were wondering - is there a way of automating the migration?  I did not see any functionality provided by EPM itself. If anybody has achieved any alternate methods to do this, or if there is somehow a functionality within EPM that I have not seen, please do provide input.

  • Migration Assistant & Admin Account

I did a clean install of Leopard on my G4 PB (I had cloned Tiger to an external drive). I brought up Migration Assistant with the external drive connected, followed the dialog choices, but I was confused by the option to bring the Administrative Account from Tiger into the Administrative Account of Leopard. I'm using the same name, which was brought out when I was taken through the steps. I wasn't given the option to replace--that was grayed out. So how do I handle that migration? Does the Administrative Account have to be migrated manually or is it done automatically (regardless of the name being different or the same)?

As I recall MA will not replace an existing account with an older one of the same name. Either it will refuse to migrate or ask if you wish to change the name - I think. You cannot have two different user accounts that have the exact same name. I do not believe MA can merge two user accounts into one.

  • SQL Developer migration tool

Does anyone have any experience migrating just one schema from MySQL to Oracle?
I've specified my database that I want the migration tool to use when I do the migration, but it goes ahead and tries to grab every single function, procedure, table for every single user in the database.
I'm basically trying to migrate a customers' mysql dataset to our oracle db.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance all!

    Patrick,
did you already read the Oracle® Database SQL Developer Supplementary Information for MySQL Migrations manual, available at:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12151_01/doc.150/e12155/toc.htm
The chapter 2.2 is dealing with schema migrations. Perhaps that is useful for you. If there is going something wrong for you and different as described in that manual then please let me know more details.
    Best regards
    Wolfgang
