Migration methods

Hi,
Recently we had a proposal on migration of our BW system to HANA .
Proposal had the following in one of the roadmap:
1.  Install a new system on SAP HANA-> then clone the current system to another host ex: A -> upgrade the A to prerequisite & online delta replay over the host A -> offline Replay to HANA from host A ( Down time)
Apart from the above they suggested to have DMO and conventional heterogeneous system copy methods.
But in the first method how does this replay of data will happen ? Do we need to define any special DB triggers ? If so, is there any documentation
on defining the DB triggers that are required .
Please suggest.
Best Regards,
DVRK

I found the answer...according to Metlalink Note 388090.1...changing charactersets won't work.
Looks like a reinstall or keep current characterset and migrate to 11gR1 for the database.

  • Migration Methods for Grid Control

Is there any way to migrate a separately installed 10.2.0.3 64-bit GC Repository Database with OMS version 10.2.0.4 to a new characterset? Also wanting to migrate to 11.1.0.6 (or 11.1.0.7) for the database version?
Subject: How to Move a Grid Control Repository to a 10.1.0.3 Database
    Doc ID: Note:285087.1
From the above doc on Metalink: "You cannot export the repository to a 10.1.0.3 database
the export is not supported because there are many references to the hosting database in the Grid Framework.
Many functionalities will be broken and the Grid Framework can be considered as corrupted."
The quote above and the lack of further documents on Metalink leads me to believe that using standard migration methods such as exp/imp and datapump won't work with GC.
I know that it is possible to migrate to 11g for the database and there are instructions for doing so but....not for migrating to a new characterset (AL32UTF8) as well. We are just wanting to reduce the proliferation of charactersets.
    Any suggestions?
    thanks

  • JCAPS6- Migration "Method not found in the imported class"

    Hi,
I work on Jcaps6 migration, I found that few of my migrated Jcd's throw compiler error as here
ERROR: Method getSegmentCount(java.sql.Connection, java.lang.String, java.lang.String) not found in class com.ack.mware.distribution.v2.filesplitter.InhouseFileAggregator at line 76
This happens to all the methods in the InhouseFileAggregator class which is our inhouse class comes with a jar file.
it seems like the methods in this class are not recognized by the main class which throws the abovesaid errors.
I have checked for the jar file which is found to be added and aslo I have checked with the eDesigner 5 which compiles without any error.
So I doubt this may be due to some compatible features with the JCAPS6 version.
Please someone help me to solve this issue. All the Jcd's are facing the same error due to this non recognizable inhouse API's.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Preethi

    Hi Chris,
    Thanks for the reply.
    Here is what I do,
I did import the project into the JCAPS6 and I have checked for jar files (inhouse).
I dont see any error mark on the import statements, but the methods in one of our inhouse class are not recognizable by the main class where it uses those mehods to process the query statements.
The main class have imported four inhouse classes, only one class has this problem the others are working fine.
FYI,That inhouse class is an abstract class consists of four static methods with its implementations. There are no abstract methods.
we have our inhouse stuffs in utitlities package ,so I have included the corresponding jar files in the JCD.
I am really stuck at this, Please tell me what's going wrong here.

  • Data migration methods

Hi experts. I am working on a study for a data migration project where data from multiple legacy systems would be moved into SAP. Apart from LSMW and BDC, what are the other useful methods when the data migration involves huge volumes of upload data?

    Hi,
Obviously the answer depends to a certain extent on the circumstances of your project (complexity of data, volume, etc) and on the object in question, but here are a few rules of thumb.
If you are new to this I would stay away from IDOCs and BAPIs as the set up is often a little complicated and if there are errors the problem is often not too easy to identify. And IDOC processing is not always as quick as people assume. For example, the customer master IDOC is processed in the background by a call transaction of XD01.
For you I would suggest definitely using LSMW, and where possible within LSMW use the standard uploads. There will be situations where the standard upload does not cover everything (again using customers as an example, it will not include the extended address data or the long texts) but I would still use the standard upload to load as much as you can, and then write a couple of simple update BDC recordings (XD02, XK02, etc) to add what's missing.
Some examples of the standard upload programs are:
    Customers - RFBIDE00
    Vendors - RFBIKE00
    Materials - RMDATIND
    All finance transactions - RFBIBL00
    Fixed assets - RAALTD01
The standard uploads are normally well documented; they often use BDC (not RMDATIND) so are quite transparent; and they are generally pretty flexible.
There are a few standard uploads which are not so good, such as the sales order load, and to a lesser extent the purchase order load. In these cases you might need to look at using the BAPIs but get help from someone who has used them before.
You might want to use recordings for very simple loads like bank master.
If migrating SAP to SAP, where possible you would look to transfer master data via ALE using IDOCs. But again you need to know what you are doing and it sounds like you are moving from a non-SAP to a SAP system anyway.
    Good luck,
    Ben

  • Best Migration Method for Exchange 2007 with multiple accepted domains

We are trying to determine which method would be best for us as we migrate to O365.  Scenario as follows:
    1) Multiple accepted domains (each in their own OU in AD); example: domainA.com, domainB.com
    2) Exchange is 2007; clients will be upgrading the Outlook 2013
    3) Would like to be able to sync mailboxes starting anytime but be able to cut over a domain at a time.
Tested so far with staged migration but it appears that with this, there is a change in the TargetAddress sending all mail to the O365.  Even changing MXs didn't redirect the message as it reaches the Exchange box and immediately goes to O365.
We haven't tried the cutover as we're only able to test with the production box and if that somehow cutover the entire box, we'd be .. well, it wouldn't be good.
Anyone had any experience so that our #3 point would be doable, that would be great.
    Thx
    George

    Hi George,
According to your description, I understand that the issue is related to Exchange migration from Exchange 2007 to Exchange Online for Office 365. This forum focuses on some general discussion about Office 365 ProPlus which
is the version of Office that comes with many Office 365 plans. Therefore, I suggest we can post the issue in Microsoft Exchange Online (Office 365) forum for more professional suggestions:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?forum=onlineservicesexchange
Hope you can find the solution soon.

  • Can I Upgrade using like a "Migrate" method? OCS 9.1.4.2 to OCS 10.1.2

We use OCS 9.1.4.2 for a year or more, and we want to upgrade to 10.1.2. On Upgrade Guide, all the paths instructs for upgrade services on same server. But I'd like to install OCS 10g on new servers (hardware), with a new OS (I'm using Suse SLES8 and want to install OCS 10g on SLES9), and do something like to a "migrate" data (email, calendar, files, ...) from my current OCS 9.4.0.2 servers to new 10g servers. Any ideas about the best way to do this??? Oracle have any "path" to do this kind of work? Thanks.

I don't think Oracle has a path for this right now...
I'm planning an upgrade from 9.0.4.2 to 10.1.2. I'll be mainly moving email and calendar. I'm working out the details now. But here are my thoughts...
    Migrating email...
    1. extract users (groups, etc) from 9.0.4.2 OID and import into 10.1.2 (lots of details to work out here)
    2. Then use an imap sync tool to sync email accounts between the two servers.
Calendar (this ones not so easy).
    1. I'm planning on creating a new 9.0.4.2 installation (swing server) and coping the calendar users and data to that.
    2. Then perform a 10.1.2 upgrade on the swing server.
    3. Move the calendar data from the swing server to a new production installation of 10.1.2.
If you're interested I can post the details as I move along... Or if you have a better idea, I'm listening...

  • Using an external drive with migration assistant

I have used disk utility to clone the hard drive on my defective MacBook to a Maxtor external drive.
Will I be able to use migration assistant with the external drive when I get a new MB?

Thanks, would I choose "From another Mac" or "From another Volume in this Mac" under Migration Method?

  • ITunes Migration in Yosemite 10.10.2

I'm a first time user of the OS operating system (using it in the 90s in high school no longer counts), I've followed every step of iTunes library migration methodically that the forum has provided, and I'm stuck. I'm at my wits end.
I bought a fresh external hard drive that, according to the manufacturer, was set up already to write from both PC and Mas as soon as i plugged it in.
I checked to make sure my PC had the latest iTunes, organized my library, and copied the contents in their entirety over to the hard drive.
I plugged the hard drive into my Mac, moved the library into the Mac 'Music' folder as outlined, and nada. I even made sure the three files of the latest library back up were moved into the "Automatically Add to iTunes" folder. My Mac's iTunes won't recognize anything in that folder and I've even tried restarting the machine. Still nothing. All I can see are purchases sitting in the cloud.
Is there something I'm missing? Is it a glitch?  Help!

Well, I bit the bullet, whiped the drive and did a clean install off a USB Drive -- unfortuately, the Setup Assistant does not see the FW drive and I had no other choice but to skip ahead and establish a temp account -- the install appears fine, did upgrades for Safari and iTunes and the FW drives are visible on the desktop.
However, Migration Assistant, as well as Setup Assistant, fail to recognize the FW drives as well.  Kinda prblematic as it stands -- ideas?

  • Wiki migration from 10.6.8 to 10.10 Server 4 no data loaded

I'm trying to migrate wiki from an old OSX Server 10.6.8 to a brand new installation of 10.10.1 with Server App ver 4.
I followed the article at http://krypted.com/mac-os-x/setup-os-x-yosemite-server-as-a-wiki-server/
    I used the migration method:
    1) copy the /Library/Collaboration folder to Yosemite Server ~/Desktop/Collaboration
    2) changed owner to _teamserver of the copied folder
    3) started wiki service
    4) created a new wiki
    5) configure accounts to access LDAP of the old server
    6) run sudo wikiadmin migrate -r ~/Desktop/Collaboration
No wiki were created. The log file shows that no users and groups found.

2- Create an new 1.8.5 server
3- Create users on new server (keep an eye on order of creation ID is more important than username)
4- Turned on Wiki *Important starts up service for 1st time
5- Then followed these instuctions on:  http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT5585
    *Wiki worked
6 -Then Upgraded form 10-8-5 to Yosemithe server
    ALL WORKS
*Note1: Apple's KB note has 10.6 to 8 migration which I did not use, try that before

    Hi Anurag,
    Thanks for your questions.
1:Is there change in DB architecture as CUIC is the only option as compared to previous linux version UCCX ?
I assume this is from the tables regarding historical data. The database schema essentially remains the same since UCCX 9.0 had CUIC too and we had a seperate DB Space for CUIC and we still continue with that. The traditional historical tables remain and the replication process remains the same too.
2:Is there any version change for Linux OS used as VOS,
The Linux version is Red Hat Linux 5. To be precise:
    [root@uccx10pub /]# cat etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.7 (Tikanga)
3:Is there any API architecture change in UCCX 10 from previous releases ?
I can answer this more of an overview. The only enhancement in the API side is the introduction of REST API step in the script editor. You can now make REST calls from the script and this ofcourse opens up a whole new world of possiblities.
4:Since from UCCX 10 , we can only use either CAD or Finnesse at one  time, whats the impact of changing this after some time in production,  let say , i used CAD for 2 months and then i decided to move to Finesse,  whats the impact ? or is it a smooth change as switching CUIC and HRC  in previoius release ?
For the scenario you mentioned, there is absolutely no problem. The point to note is that the Finesse services are activated/deactivated but the CAD desktop services are ALWAYS running. The only condition to keep in mind is that you can use ONLY ONE type of agent desktop at any time.  Also if Finesse is not used and CAD operations are used extensively, it is advisable to shutdown the Finesse service.
5:Is 3rd Party UCS hardware supported by UCCX 10 instead of using Cisco manufactured UCS , can i use HP hardware for Virtualisation ?
Yes, it can be used. This is something called as "Third party specs based specification". The most important things seen for compatibility are:
    Inter CPU Model
It it is on thVMWare Hardware Compatibilty List
You can get more information about this on the "Can I use this server?" section of UC Virtualized Hardware page:
    http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/UC_Virtualization_Supported_Hardware#.22Can_I_use_this_server.3F.22
    6:Is Host name change supported?
Yes, the hostname change is supported. The prcocedure is documented in the UCCX 10.0 Administration Guide:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/crs/express_10_0/configuration/guide/UCCX_BK_W1AF9DDD_00_uccx-admin-guide-10.0.pdf (Pg 168)

  • Can I filter out a corrupted user account and app as part of a migration?

I am in the process of upgrading from Tiger to Leopard. I did an erase and install because of some issues with the old system, one being a corrupted user account. I am reluctant to use Migration Assistant because I don't want to bring that corrupted account over.
I have read in some other posts that if you already have a user account with a certain name in Leopard and you try to bring over one with the same same from Tiger, it will not transfer. Is this correct? If that is so I would create a user account in Leopard with the same name as the corrupted account in Tiger and that would block it, right? The next question is what constitutes the user account name, is it the designated name, often the computer name or is it the short name, often the same as the designated name but run together if it is two words. I guess I could just duplicate both names the way they appear in Tiger. Will that do it?
On a related note, is there any substantial difference between doing a simple upgrade on the one hand as opposed to an erase and install and then using migration assistant to bring everything over that way? I have a QT issue and along with the corrupted user account, I made the decision to use the erase and install option and essentially start from scratch. This, however, creates a lot of extra and perhaps unnecessary work. Would it help if I just deleted QT in Tiger so it couldn't be migrated?

There is a Mac OS X 10.5 help topic that answers most of your questions. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be available online & obviously, you can't access it on your own Mac without Leopard already being installed -- a bit of a Catch-22!
Anyway, below I have copied the text of that topic from my own Help Viewer. It lacks the formatting of the original, but I hope it will be of some use to you anyway.
*Using Migration Assistant to transfer files from another Mac*
If you need to transfer your files and important settings from an older Mac to a new one, and both computers use Mac OS X, you can use Migration Assistant.
Before using Migration Assistant, make sure you have a FireWire cable to connect the two computers.
NOTICE: If you experienced problems while using some files or applications on your old computer, you may not want to transfer those files and applications to your new computer. If you do, you may transfer corrupted data or incompatible files.
To transfer files using Migration Assistant:
1 On your new computer, open Migration Assistant, located in the Utilities folder in your Applications folder. Read the Introduction screen, and then click Continue.
2 If a dialog appears, type your password, and then click OK.
3 In the Migration Method screen, select “From another Mac,” and then click Continue.
4 Connect a FireWire cable from your new Mac to your older Mac, and then click Continue.
5 Follow the instructions in Migration Assistant to restart your older Mac and select the hard disk and user accounts from which you want to transfer. Then, select whether you want to transfer applications, files and folders, or your Library folder.
NOTE: When you first open a transferred application on your new computer, you may need to reenter the application’s serial number or registration code.
6 Select whether you want to use your old network, time zone, and sharing settings, and then click Transfer.
When Migration Assistant is finished, click Quit.
You can use Migration Assistant with a MacBook Air if both computers are connected to the same Ethernet or wireless network. See “MacBook Air: How to use Migration Assistant” at the Apple support website.

  • Method not found: 'Void CrystalDecisions.Shared.ReportStateInfo.set_DataSou

We have a VB.NET project which has recently been migrated from Visual Studio 2003 / .NET 1.1 and Crystal Reports 11 to Visual Studio 2010 / .NET 3.5 and Crystal Reports 2008.
One of the forms uses the crystaldecisions.windows.forms.crystalreportviewer control, and at the point of trying to display a report, pops up the following error since the migration:
    Method not found: 'Void CrystalDecisions.Shared.ReportStateInfo.set_DataSource(System.Data.DataSet)'.
All other Crystal Reports functionality is working fine.  As far as I can see, the control being used is version 12.0.2000.0 (although 12.0.1100.0 also seems to be available, and suffers from the same problem).  All of the Crystal Reports references in the project point to files in C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\4.0\managed and are version 12.0.1100.0.
Has anyone else encountered this problem?  Are the wrong versions of the control / DLLs being used?  Any advice on how to get this working would be useful!
    Thanks in advance,
    Anthony.

    Sorry, answering my own question!
I've since discovered the .NET 2.0 DLLs in C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\4.0\managed\dotnet2 (i.e. version 12.0.2000.0) - switching the references to them fixed the problem.
    Anthony.

  • Migration from SQL Server to Oracle issue

    Hi,
While trying to migrate SQL Server to Oracle via Standard Migration method, I got stuck at the point where it says.....
To perform online capture, right-click the connection name in the Connections navigator and select Capture database-type (for example, Capture MySQL, Capture Microsoft Access, Capture Microsoft SQL Server, or Capture Sybase Adaptive Server).
The problem is that, I do not see this menu Capture Microsoft SQL Server. Looks like this is a bug SQL Developer 3, which does not shows option for Capture on right clicking the non-oracle database connection. In earlier release of SQL Developer 2.1.1, I can see the option of Catture...
    Thanks,
    Gyan

    Gyan,
You are correct. The online help screen says -
    <<<
    Online Capture
To perform an online capture of the source database, you can have the capture performed automatically as part of the Quick Migrate option, or you can have it performed as a separate operation by right-clicking the connection name in the Connections navigator and selecting Capture product-name (for example, Capture MySQL, Capture Microsoft Access, Capture Microsoft SQL Server, or Capture Sybase Adaptive Server).
    >>>
but this option does not show up.
I did some testing and was able to make the capture by following these steps -
    - right click on the SQL*Server database in the Connections panel
    - choose 'Migrate to Oracle'
    - follow the menus until you get to 'Capture' screen where you should have the SQL*Server database to be migrated in the 'Selected Databases' panel
    - then choose 'Finish' from the options at bottom of the screen.
    - you should then have the capture scripts in the directory chosen earlier in the process.
    Regards,
    Mike
