Migration of an existing web site to Web Page Composer

I am investigating the options and the feasibility of the migration of an existing web site to a Web Page Composer (WPC) site. The web resources of the site can easily be copied to KM and used afterwards in WPC containers. However, they can neither be integrated to the WPC site navigation nor edited through the WPC UI. For example, only WPC Web Page or Web Sites can be WPC navigation nodes.
Has anyone ever done or tried such a migration? Do you know where I could find a description (or the javadocs) of the WPC API? Any suggestions or hints will be much appreciated.

Hi Youlian.
If I understand correctly you have rebuilt only a few hundreds of the old pages using WPC forms. Did you do this manually or you have found a way of migrating them programmatically?
Yes, we did it manually for a two reasons:
1. short timetable;
2. 20 intranet sites with variety of used technologies and tools, styles, navigation structures.
Did you leave the rest of the pages as HTML (non-WPC) files?
Yes. But we imported them into KM.
Does it mean that you have implemented only part of the navigation structure through the WPC/portal navigation?
Yes and no.
Firstly, in our case it would be a bad idea to bring all legacy, sometimes cluttered, navigation structure to a new platform as is.
Secondly, keeping in mind that in a common scenario portal already has own top level navigation you should carefully decide how deep is your site navigation structure will be.
Finally, migration it is a good time for information architecture redesign based on standards and guidelines.
Assuming that you have adjusted properly the links to all resources, have you encountered any particular navigation or display issues following this approach?
I could remember two limitations concerning a navigation:
1. you should avoiding links to navigation nodes inside non-wpc html files, because in this case a target page opens without DLN;
2. first linked non-wpc html page, which placed outside wpc container, should be opened in new window.
As for design, all our display issues caused by inline styles within source html files.
Did you notice any noticeable performance degradation after the migration?
We didn't have any degradation of performance. However, it is highly individual and depends on your portal infrastructure.

I've developed a site using "web Page Make" I put a graphic on a page with a mouse over that morphs the graphic and plays a brief wave. I works with I.E but no go in FF 3.63.I am previewing this off a local networked drive. No problems with other net site with embedded audio do I need a certain add on etc. Can anyone offer some advice. Thanks

Web site error - DNG page

Does anyone know how to let Adobe know that their web site has an error on it? The Windows and Mac links are reversed on the DNG download page. If anyone knows how to tell them, please do so.

When requesting help you should always include the make/model (i.e. p6-xxxx) of the computer and/or monitor. This information is necessary for us to review the specifications of them.
Also, which browser are you using and have you tried another one to see if you have the same problem?

Php web site problem - after loding the web site blank white page

Hi Guys
i've set up Mac server with 10.6.2 its running 3 web sites . the problem is when i upload the web files in to my Mac server and start to browsing from my laptop via internet, web site is not loading. So i upload the sample web page just as a simple html file. its working fine , But when i upload this php web site problem agin . problem : site is loading from loading bar, But i can not see anything from browser just white page , no page source nothing ......
any suggestions ?

Adding phone layout to existing desktop site - No scratch page created

Trying to make a phone version of site created in muse but no scratch page is created in desktop plan after adding phone layout. Ideas?

Use a Keynote presentation on my web site's main page

I want to create 4 or 5 slide animations and use it on my website's main pages, probably as html documents or something? I'm just a novice here but keynote is awesome and flexible to work in, my website host is 1 and 1 Internet and you can bring in Movies and Slideshows - however those have a fixed border and prompts you to play them. I'm trying to figure out how to have an element that will automatically play on the page when it's open. I use Mac OSX 10.9 and Keynote version 6.0, the website is www.jfstv.com
My company is not big enough for an IT department or a web programmer (hopefully soon), so we are learning the hard way. Any suggestions?

Gideonu: FURTHER UPDATE: This is the reply from 1and1 Internet (my host) when asked if I could just export the Keynote to HTML and then insert that onto the site:
1and1: We checked and basically, there is no option on the editor for you to import or upload HTML files. There is one element though wherein you can use if you have an application to insert on the site. You can use the HTML/Widget element and insert the code onto it.
Gideonu: So I opened the HTML/Widget but it just gives you a line < > to enter code - I have no idea how to find the code for the exported Keynote to HTML file if it's even possible.

On certain news web sites, the front page displays ok, but click on a story, it displays and then I get the popup file not found.

On the Boston Globe web page, for example, their home page displays just fine. When I click on any news title, the page displays for an instant and then this pops up:

Firefox can't find the file at jar:file:///C:/Program Files/Mozilla Firefox/chrome/en-US.jar!/locale/browser-region/region.propertieswd.sharethis.com.
* Check the file name for capitalization or other typing errors.
* Check to see if the file was moved, renamed or deleted.
I click on the "Try Again" button and nothing happens.

Vuze installs ask.com's tool bar also. Check for a Vuze plug in. Thanks for the fix.

Report not defined in vs2005 Web Site

I have a VS2005 Web Site (vs Web project) and I'm using CR11V2. I've added a Crystal Report to the web site. I have two issues perhaps someone can help with.
1. The following code produces an error that the object (RptDocketServiceList) is not defined. It is as if the VS does not see the report that has been added to the web site.

2. The CrystalReportViewer on the page is not bound at runtime. The RptDocketServiceList is defined as having data source of dsRptDocketServiceList.DataTable1DataTable. In the code behind partial class I am doing the following:

I use the dsadapter to fill the dssl based on user input.

i think you need to declare the BPM Object under catalog.
Then, you will need to define the instance variables for the process as report.

Visited web site flag

When using Safari when I had visited a linked web site on a page, that used to be flagged with a color change for the link. Just a few days ago that stopped. Visited web sites are no longer flagged in this manner. What has changed and how do I fix this? Is it something I can fix or is it controlled somewhere else? It's very frustrating as I depend on being able to see what I have already visited and what I have not yet visited.

From your ip address. Each ip address is assigned a geographical location, so if you look up the ip address you get a rough idea of where it is located. On tiger there is a dashboard widget called "IP Locator", try that with your ip address and see what you get.
To get your true IP address if your ISP is doing NAT or whatever you can find it out by going to http://checkip.dyndns.org/

Web Page composer : Localizing Web Sites

Hi,
           I have done a PoC on Localizing Web Sites in web page composer. As you may be aware localization comes with 2 variants. One is the language and the other is the "Region" variant.
           I have created region variants in KM admin and have created Web Content using language and region variants. I am able to see the language variants working successfully when the user changes the language.
           But how do I get the region variants to work? Online [documentation|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/46/792f9b608c0ad3e10000000a11466f/frameset.htm] s says "...to select the ....region for displaying Web pages, select Personalize in the portal masthead...".
           My challenge is...
          1) How do I get to view and select the "regions" i have created in KM to show up in User Personalization ?
          2) My UME is on ABAP stack. How do I get this to work ?
         Any help on this will be much appreciated!

IWeb not updating web site.

iWeb started out working okay. I kept a blog and updated it. Then I went on a trip. Even though I had wireless internet the whole time, updating kept failing. No error message, but the update clock would stop after being about one-quarter filled. When I came home, there was no difference.
Although this started months ago (before the whole .Mac to MobileMe changeover), I do believe my recent inability to update my web site is related to it. The reason is that although I can access the last updated version of my web site at "web.me.com/myaccountname", when I go to my current iDisk and open the "sites" folder, it's empty!
Is it possible that my account has not yet been changed over to MobileMe yet? I have already installed all OS updates, including the MobileMe update. My account logs in fine.
Any ideas?????

Hey maybe you need to replace only the page that was updated, do not change all the published site, try I just did it and it work I have change a page and a file to be downloaded from the web site, now I can see the changes live on the web. this is what I wrote to others.
Hey I have found not a solution but a way to publish without iWeb, Just did it and I have seen the changes on the web site. If you guys want to try:
I have published my updated web site to a folder on my desktop. then open iDisk from the web (where my web sites files are stored for everyone else to see) then open both windows side by side and only replace the files of the updated pages from the desktop folder to the iDisk folder, there is always a file and a folder with the same name. I just replace them, I then checked on the web and Woalah! changes were made. Well... it did work for now without iWeb, not sure if is the right thing to do but if you are brave enough to follow this go ahead and go to bed as I will until the bug is fixed (hopefully tomorrow) then we can go back to normal. Hope is clear and it help! Rog

I know you have very little time :-) but it would be usefull to know
1. Feature matrix for Standard and Enterprise editions and how add on
products fit in. Would be great to have a "Professional" version somewhere
between Standard and Enterprise.
2. I am not sure I understand what $500 maintenance gives us. Above you
state that all owners of 2.2.2 license are entitlet for 2.2.x bug fixes,
patches etc. (which is fine I would expect product to be bugfixed and
maintained until a new major version is out).
Then you say Maintenance ($500) includes all bug fixes / patches and minor
release upgrades (all version 2.x.x releases) that I do not fully
understand. D

period this $500 will cover?
If one purchased a maintenance plan I would expect to receive next major
release (you need to plan your release cycle) so people can budget in
maintenence cost and pay $500 a year for example to have latest and greates
version of Kodo
3. Is maintenence fee the same for Standard and Enterprise? It does not
really make sense as the price of maintenence is almost the same as new
Standard license and probably higher than license upgrade cost
4. What about license upgrade cost?

The answer to this really depends on what happens with the specification,
when it will be released, and how different the specification will be
compared to the current version of the specification (0.95). There are a
number of things that we are waiting for from the specification team
including a final version of the specification and the test suite. There is
simply too much uncertainty around the specification to give you a
definitive answer. I assure you that when the specification is finalized,
we will recognize our current customer base in some manner.

I know you have very little time :-) but it would be usefull to know
1. Feature matrix for Standard and Enterprise editions and how add on
products fit in. Would be great to have a "Professional" versionsomewhere
between Standard and Enterprise.
2. I am not sure I understand what $500 maintenance gives us. Aboveyou
state that all owners of 2.2.2 license are entitlet for 2.2.x bugfixes,
patches etc. (which is fine I would expect product to be bugfixed and
maintained until a new major version is out).
Then you say Maintenance ($500) includes all bug fixes / patches andminor
release upgrades (all version 2.x.x releases) that I do not fully
understand. D

If one purchased a maintenance plan I would expect to receive next

release (you need to plan your release cycle) so people can budget in
maintenence cost and pay $500 a year for example to have latest andgreates
