Migration of bex 3.x queries and workbooks to Bex 7.1 queries and workbooks

Hi,
Migration of bex 3.x queries and workbooks to Bex 7.1 queries and workbooks.
For instance when you edit,open an 3.x query in 7.0 query designer it is automatically migrated.Would it be same if we open it in 7.1 query designer?Is it possible to migrate queries and workbooks without any fail or deletion or loss?

I will add to the already excellent suggestions made above that the migration from Bex 3.x to Bex 7.0 is VERY laborious. There are no automated tools.
All queries and workbooks must be identified (use this as an opportunity to get rid of unused objects)
Each query must be converted to BI 7 and repairs done as needed.
Each Workbook must be converted to BI 7 and repairs done as well. The "Automated" conversion tool that SAP provides (it's behind the scenes Visual Basic) presents problems with at least 50% of the workbooks, and so they have to be manually fussed with.
If you've used Visual Basic at all in your Workbooks, you'll have to change 'em all. The On Refresh event no longer exists.
And of course, test... test.. test.. and test.
And don't forget to retrain your users. The User interface is dramatically different.
Good luck ! We're 3 months in to a five month conversion project.

Workbooks with more than 12 queries

Hi,
I have a workbook with 11 queries.
In each query, there is only one variable (same technical name).
As a consequence, the whole workbook is refreshed automatically by filling only one variable screen.
When I add 1 more query in this workbook, then 12 variable screens are displayed one after the other, with the same variable!
Is there a known limitation with BEx 3.x / BW 3.5 that causes this problem with workbooks having more than 12 queries?

Automated execution and mailing of BeX reports

Hi,
I have a requirement which goes like this:
There is a report which gives a P&L statement for a cost center. Say I have one parent Cost Center Group and there are 100 Cost Centers within that group. The report allows the user to select variants based on the cost center. So they have to execute this report every month for 100 different cost centers in order to generate a P&L for each cost center.
Now the users want some sort of automated way to execute the reports every month for each cost center within a cost center group and then the results (XL based) delivered to them through email. The mail should contain workbooks or BeX reports.
Is it possible to implement this? If yes then how can this be achieved?
We are running BW 3.5.

Do you have some document on how to use the RSCRM_BAPI transaction?
everytime I try to run an extract it generates an error "No authorization to create extract /BIC/0CYYNIKTEST of type Table"
and when I try to execute the query - it generates an OLAP error in a key figure.
The query is quite complexin the sense that it uses structures in both the rows & columns sections and also uses all possible types of variables and also hs built in variants already.
I would be grateful if you can send across some document on the transaction. I would have posted docs & screenshots of the query, but there is no way in SDn to do that.

Workbook in BEx Analyzer doesn´t open

Dear all,
I´ve a problem, because I have a user on the bw and I work with the BEx Analyzer.
When I open a special workbook there comes a white screen and then nothing.
I deleted the user I´ve used and created the user new but still the same problem.
But when I create another user id the problem doesn´t exist.
What can it be?
Or are special user parameters set in the sap bw? because I have not set any parameter

the authorizations are ok.
I´ve made a authorization trace with ST01 and that´s not the problem.
A few weeks before the problem doesn´t exist. But after a few weeks I´ve opened the workbook and it doesn´t open.
Is it possible to delete the user but that all things of the user will be deleted like entrys in tables of the customizing where the user is in?

BEx Browser35 for GUI720: Workbooks in BEx Analyzer cannot be opened

Hello,
When trying to open Workbooks using BEx Browser35 the Workbooks do net get opened within BEx Analyzer, the "lInks" seem to be inactive.
The test has been conducted using SAPGUI720 with BEx35_Patch1 and Windows7/Office2010_32bit.
Does anyone know if this problem is related to the new SAPGUI-version being used or is this a known error requriring some manual configuration.

How to open a workbook in BEx 700

Hi Friends,
Is there a way to open a workbook in BEx, just knowing its ID and name?
Workbook is not saved in a role, psooibly in favourites of a user. In 3.5 using FM RSAH_LAUNCH_EXCEL
was a way to achieve this.
Any ideas?

i'm BW Admin, we are currently "moving" from 3.5 to 7.0. My problem is, that I'm missing al ot of ueseful tools, provided in 3.5.,
not longer available in 7.0, as you can see form my threads in the past. In all of the long years of working in IT, I never expeienced such a step back and a lack od conbienence intrducing a new release of any software.
However, one of my users is spending his holidays and a collegue just wants to run a workbook obviously saved
in his favourites. And I'm still searching for a possibilty for achieving this in a easy way, without changing settings in
user administration (copying favourites copying ,even etire user....).

Arrange workbooks in BEx Browser

Hi all,
We are facing a problem arranging the workbooks in BEx Browser. In some folders we have many workbooks and these are just sitting on top of another. I tried to arrange them manually or with the properties option, but even then we still have many workbooks and the Users are having a tough time looking at them. I do not see any scroll bars that will make the window grow according to the number of workbooks.
Do we have a option to set up the scroll bar in the Browser window so that the workbooks wont overlap or any other option to list the workbooks.

Hi,
You can assign workbooks to roles and assign roles to users. After that a person can login to the Bex Browser and based on the roles that he/she has see only those workbooks.
using tcode PFCG you can create what you want: assign roles to specific users. after saving workbooks under role and a role's menu item a user depending on his/her roles will see only what was allowed.

I can't able to see BI content SRM cube and quries in bex anlyzer?

I can't able to see BI content SRM cube and quries in bex anlyzer under search, roles and infoarea?
Details: Today I installed SRM Cube 0SR_FIC01 and all of its queries from BI contents (BI 7.0). I can't able to see the cube and its queries in Bex. But in RSA1 i can see that this cube is active.
How to find all the queries of this cube in bex? the search option was able to find the cube but that is all. my goal is to see all the queries off of this cube.

go to the AWB - open ur cube - menu - edit - where used to - there you shoudl be see all the queries that you have installed. If you dont see any queries out there, the queries were installed properly. Reinstall the queries.
If you see them there, then it shoudl be a authorization issue. Talk to ur security folks

Pros and Cons between BEx client and Web access

Dear all,
I am quite new to BI 7.0 and have some question about frontend tools.
I am looking for a comparison material describing pros and cons of BEx client application and Web access in BI 7.0.
There are many tools in BEx suite and I am a bit confused about what fuctionality each tool has or what to consider to choose the right tool.

Shortly speaking there are 4 tools and you need at least 2 of them:
1. Query Designer: you need it always as this is a tool for defining queries
2. Web Application Designer: you need it if you want create web reports
3. Report Designer: only if you want create formatted reports in web
4. BEx Analyzer: if you want to run queries in Excel (Analyzer is an add-in)

HT4796 Migration assistant is telling me that it has lost connection with my Mac and to ensure they are on the same network. They are, and an ethernet cable is plugged into them. What do i do?

And offcourse that I delete my files and documents is not an Iweb problem, but because my English is not that good, that I thougt I try to tell the whole story, and hope people can read trough the lines.
Why I didn't use Iweb to upload to the server is because the server company recommanded to use file zilla. And I am a nobody with this kind of things, so I did exactly what they tell me to do.
No, i did not make a backup of Iweb and the domain file, but reading other messages on this forum showed me that I can maybe try to make empty the cashfile (?)
and otherwise I have bad luck and have to make my website again. Offcourse I have a lot of examples from all the pages (copied from the local map to my USB stick) and my website is aprox. 15 Mb, (not so big) so it will cost me a few nigths.
But I'm still hoping on a miracle :-)

     could you plz tell me how to add Header and Footer in Bex report.. that means.. i want some my company name and address should print on the top of the report..
and also.. in the Footer. i want to display the Number of records are selected...

Hi Ajay,
Refer to web tempaltes 0adhoc_header and 0adhoc_Footer , by changing this you should be able to display header and footer for each query out of BW server.

Use the Office for Mac and ignore using Parallels for that. If you have PC only apps you have to run that are MS Windows only then consider Parallels. Just transfer your main PC, using Migration Assistant. If you don't know how then simply read over Pondini's article called Lion or Mountain Lion Setup Assistant tips and look for the section on migrating from a PC. Millions have done what you are about to, it's far from leading edge these days, if you go to an Apple Store to purchase they will offer this as a service, something you might be interested in.

Query Executing in WAD and not in BEx Analyzer

Hi Experts,
I am creating a query to find the "Execution Time Analysis" in PP the query has been successfully running in WAD but it is not opening in BEx Analyzer and throwing a message called RSBOLAP 000 and RS_EXEPTION 107.
What will be the reason. could you please let me know.

Refresh Queries - runs a query that is not in the workbook ??

I have a workbook with a number of BW queries. NONE of these queries have a RRI setup.
If I select Refresh Query when not selecting any one particular query - another query is run. The query that is run is NOT in the workbook. None of the queries in the workbook are refreshed which is the norm.
This behavior is just happening in one workbook
We are using BW 3.5.

Gill,
We had a similar issue a while back (see [Query Refresh goes to Saved View?;), but never found a solution other than recreating the workbook.
In our case, I believe the user may have deleted a worksheet without first deleting the query that was on it. That is one possibile explanation for what you are seeing.
Hope you have better luck resolving this than we did. (I will be watching!)
