Migration of contracts

Hello Experts,
I am trying to develop a legacy data migration plan for Contracts with periodic billing plan and revenue recognition.
Example of the scenario is given below:
Customer signed a contract for one year starting 01/01/xxxx.
Customer is billed quartely, billed in advance.
SAP going live on 04/01/xxxx
Customer is billed for 3 months and also for initial set up fees.
Revenue recognition is done monthly.
We have to migrate this contract to SAP.
Billing document posting may be necessay as it affects revenue recognition which spans across the total contract period.
Any ideas how to do this?

How did you manage this? We also had the same problem in one of our contracts and what we did was that we copied the contracts from the legacy with the full value. That is suppose SAP went live on 1st April, 2009 and the contract was created on 1st January 2009 for a value of suppose 100 USD, with the first billing being done on 1st Jan for 33.33 USD for 4 months. We first created the contract with a validity from 1st Jan 2009 in the new system. We billed it with a billing type that we created that did not actually create new accounting entries as the accounting entries had already been created in the legacy system. In the new system then we recognised the revenue till the go live, so that the actual value remaining of the contract reduced. Then we started the billing plan of the contract from 1st of April 2009 for the remaining amount. So next invoice was created on 1st april for 33.33 USD. Can you share your solution.

  • Data Migration - Active contracts

    Hi All,
    As per the business rule of client, they post single invoice for the full amount at the start of contract, with four invoices on the same date but with varaying due dates on first of every quarter.
    Ex: Start Date: 1\1\2010. End date: 31\12\2010. Amount 120000\- Posted on 1\1\2010. Invoices: 30,000\- four invoices with dates 1\1\2010. 1\4\2010 1\7\2010 and 1\10\2010.
    Assuming that if i migrate the data on 1\8\2010. i marked cash flow date in sap as 1\1\2010 and first posting date 1\8\2010.
    1. Now shall i need to create new line items using rerapp in the system or shall i allow the AR open items to move to the sub ledger with reference to cotract?
    2. If i don't post entries using RERAPP in  the system, then at the time of termination how system reverse the full contract amount and post for the used period (which is standard behavior in case of termination) as there are no entries posted.
    Can anybody throw some light on this.

    We are planning to migrate/copy some contracts from  one company code to another.
    I've read a related post regarding this, but I would like to know more about the steps on how to do it and if it is possible also to copy the conracts' present contract numbers and other contract details  to the new company code.

    you can use BAPIs in RE-FX.
    1. BAPI_RE_CN_GET_DETAIL to read the contract data
    2. Change the data according to your requirements
         For example it may be necessary to change the adjustment parameters ..
    3. BAPI_RE_CN_CREATE to create the contracts in the new company code
    If you want to have the same contract number you would have to switch to external numbering in the new company code.

  • Partner in service contract and ibase

    Here is a data migration scenario, migration service contract from legance to crm:
    1. warranty data and sold to partner will be migrated to ibase in crm
    2. legancy contract will be migrated to crm contract, which also contains a sold to party
    So my question is whether there is a dependency about sold-to party between service contract and ibase,
    - for example., here is ibase contain product: A,B,C, but when create a contract for product D, which does not exist in a ibase, so whether this contract can be create, whether it can look up the if product exist in ibase according to sold to party,
    And whether it can prevent to create new contract for D?

    Hi Nagaraju,
    First of all, you can bill Service Contract and Service Order differently. This is because you may wish to charge contract fees irrespective of whether service occurs or not.
    Secondly, while maintaining DIP profile, you can use different material from the one used in contract. Just make sure that it gives explanation as to what service was performed so that customer will understand the invoice.
    DP90 will generate Debit memo request. You will need to create billing document against this using VF01.
    When you settle the service order (KO88), it will be settled against service contract.

    In my input file I am providing Value Ids so I am not receiving this error.
    As I am currently in the investigation stage I have used the export program FILA_MIGRATION_EXPORT to create a file from an existing LAE contract to use as the basis for my input file.
    I am in the process of determining where all the data for the LAE Tables comes from on the CRM Contract. We are creating a program in CRM to extract the data from the contract into the format accepted by the LAE import program. This is a long process! It would be nice if there was a program in CRM that already does this!
    Also for your information there are some OSS Notes that may need to be applied to the FILA_MIGRATION_IMPORT program.

    Usually when you need to migrate ISU contracts into an ISU-CRM integrated system, you first migrate everything you need in ISU through the VERY powerful migration workbench available (transaction code EMIGALL), and then you replicate your data to CRM via INITIAL download.
    That's definitely the strategy that will give you the best performance, and less work.

    I found a BAPI called 'bapi_salesorder_createfromdat2' which fills the requirement with fields which is not highlighted. And let me know which BAPI can be used so that we can use the remaining 4 fields which is highlighted.
    The Non highlighted fields are belongs to Sales Order and the remaining highlighted fields belong to Purchase Requisition.

  • Material serial number creation

    Hello,
    I have a scenario in setting up serial number for material. I am presently working on data migration from legacy system to SAP. Materials in legacy system has serial numbers assigned to it. I am migrating service contracts with service materials which should have equipments details in the technical objects details
    i wanted to know how to create serial no.s for the saleable materials in the contract with status ECUS ( equipment at customer).
    When i create serials numbers the material is in stock under a plant. But this should not be the case since the equipment is already at the customer .
    Please suggest a suitable solution for doing the same.

    From IE02 - Edit, Special serial number functions, Manual transaction.
    This will allow you to move the status on depending on the status that your currently at.

  • REFX data conversion

    Hi,
    would have good advises for starting to use REFX?
    In our case the company has been using different legacy systems to handle real estate processes.
    When starting to use REFX, what is the best practise to convert REFX contracts?
    E.g lease-in contracts have originally started year 2004, with certain condition types linked to index series. During the years the contract condtions have been updated according to index changes (with some exceptions).
    Should the currect situation e.g. 2011 condition amounts / the original conditions / both be converted into SAP?
    Please give some advises what to consider!

    Hi,
    It looks like you have a good reason to start working with RE-FX. This way you will maintain all the RE data in one system instead of different legacy systems.
    The easiest way to do the migration is by using LSMW. In this LSMW you will have to choose for the BAPI methods to be able to upload the data with Idocs. This works fine. We did at the end of 2010 a migration of 85.000 rental objects with fewer business entities, buildings and the same amount of contracts.
    When migrating the contracts you will have to keep all the original information in SAP. So you start the contract in 2004. Then it is also possible to migrate the conditions from the contract start date. For this purpose SAP has two fields to be able to start posting these conditions with go-live. These are the first posting from (first date for posting in SAP) and the cash flow date (from this date SAP builds the cash flow). In this way the first posting date can be 01-01-2012 and the cash flow date 01-01-2010. Now it is possible to post also backdated changes between 2010 and 2012. SAP knows the original posting is made in a legacy system and will only post the difference.
    I hope this answer will help you to decide what is best for you.

  • Torch 9800 - Mobile Data and BIS not activated - Mail & Browse fail, Opera Mini is slow and MSN and Yahoo go in timeout

    I have a BB Torch 9800 with OS 6.0 Bundle 2534
    I had a contract with the Mobile Operator including the Data Package and everything was working fine, I have access to the mail through BIS, MSN Messenger and Yahoo Messenger was working Ok, as far as Whatsup. Also the Browser was working Ok.
    When I was on roaming I have settled “Roaming Off” in “Mobile Network Options” to just use Internet over Wi-Fi when I was under the Wi-Fi coverage.
    Then I’ve decided to migrate the contract to “Recharchable” and also decided to dismiss the Data Packet because of cost limitations. Now I have BIS in “not connected” state.
    Problem now is that I cannot get the apps working when connected to any Wi-Fi AP.
    Mail is not working. MSN & Yahoo returns the message “Unable to find the requested server” when attempting to login. The Browse is also not working and only Opera Mini seems to work but it takes several minutes to build a page.
    I’ve also tried to ping the AP and it rarely succeed, sometimes all attempts are failing, sometimes one attempt succeed.
    It seems to my eyes that there is a terribly big delay and some applications (except mail and browse that shows not to work) go in timeout with the message previously described.
    I’m not sure whether BIS access or no access is influencing the BB behavior with a Wi-Fi connection and making dramatically slower.
    The BB connects at Layer 1 with the AP because I can see the BB MAC address at the AP’s menu. I’ve tried also with DHCP Client and Manual IP configuration, no way.
    I’ve found at http://forums.crackberry.com/general-blackberry-discussion-f2/unable-find-requested-server-bb-9330-a... that it could be a bug in the 6.0.
    I’ve searched tons of forum postings and it seems no one has the clue of this problem. Unfortunately the Torch 9800 cannot be upgraded to the 7.x. this is really bad as it seems I have purchased a “dead” mobile phone.
    Of course I’ve tried with lots a different Aps. I’m a technician and I think I’ve done a proper troubleshooting before to come to this conclusion.
    Anyone has an update about this problem or, I have no other chance than throwing away this phone and purchase a nice Samsung Note II hopping not be blocked with another unexpected showstopper.

    The only two options available to you are adding BIS to your plan or continue using Opera which works outside of BIS (the BlackBerry browser does not).

    In data Migration perspective you have to first identify which are the objects you are going to migrate like Contracts, Assets, Business Partner etc and based on that you have to finalize the strategy and approch (whether to use BAPI/Batch Input/Direct Input). Mostly LSMW is used. The steps are:

    &#61656;     Finalizing the solution architecture (whether you will be using any intermediate staging env or not and whether to use an ETL tool for that)

    &#61656;     Integration Testing
    &#61656;     Volume testing
    &#61656;     Production Load
    Once you finalize the object to be migrated can think about the strategy for each. Business partner must be there.
    Few assumption/important points for Business Partner:
    -> All the relevant BP role types are defined in both CRM and R/3
    -> All the necessary configuration (such as Bank Master, number range, etc.) on either CRM and R/3 side and middleware between CRM and R/3 is complete for correct flow of BP data from CRM to R/3
    -> To accommodate this, SAP CRM needs to be configured to take the external number assignment for migrating Business Partner purpose
    ->If Business Agreement is there, once Business agreement is created on the CRM side, a Contract Account is created on the R/3 side. This part happens as part of normal middleware configuration.

    I can't see the field of A215 on PO contract transaction screen (i.e. Transaction ME33K ).

    How is this A215 table maintained manually? Thru ME33K  or a different transaction like MEK1?
    you are saying you do BDC, are yoou using a SAP given report or did you record the maintenance transaction yourself in SHDB?
