Migration of DB400 to Oracle 10g R2, not working in Step 1 of 4 (capture)

Hello,
I have performed the steps mentioned in the documentation and read me file, and started the C:\omwb\bin\omwb.bat
In the step 1 of the wizard, i am supposed to enter: user name, password and host. I do so, but nothing happens.
Is there any way to see logs, or why is not moving to Step 2?
Were you confronted with this in the past?
Thanks a lot,
Michael

Hi kgronau,
Thanks for your reply.
I have managed to connect (i placed the whole contents of the jt400.zip inside the driver folder, and then proceeded with all the .jar files directly in the drivers and it worked), BUT i have another problem:
My DB400 is V5R4, and Oracle Migration Benchmark that i have (i think it's from 10g edition) can capture only the: V4R3 and V4R5.
So nothing for Version 5 from DB2400?
I will take a look if i find something at 11g?
Thanks a lot,
Michael

  • Oracle 10g Client not working from Vista Business

    Hi,
I have installed Oracle 10g Rel2 DB on my desktop (OS Vista Ultimate X64 bit) and try to connect from my new laptop (OS Vista business) after installing the client software which does not work, whereas I am able to connect to same database from my other laptop using Windows XP. The tnsnames.ora files on both laptops have the same contents. Moreover, the SQL Plus is also not working on the vista laptop, I mean when I try to login the window closes down itself it doesn't stay open even to give any error message. . . Any ideas would be a great help . . .thx

Did you install the Vista specific Oracle client?

    Selva,
The link for plugins is: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/migration/workbench/index.html. You can find DB2 plugins at the bottom of the page.
Regarding the migration procedure, you can start by reading this document:

  • Reports who work in BIP 10G does not work in BIP 11G

    Hi!
We are in the middle of going from BIP 10G to BIP 11G (latest patch installed the 9 of february). We have used the Upgrade Assistant to migrate the reports from 10G to 11G, about 80-90% are working directly.
But, as always are there some problems. There are 2 major problems I am struggling with for the moment. 1 is long running reports who gets "Connection reset by peer" before the report ends and the more problematic which is this:

Does anyone have the solution for this type of error, we have about 30-40 reports that is behaving like this in BIP 11G but works fine in BIP 10G.
Can we do anything general in the BIP 11G or does we need to find the solution for each report and change in the template?
    All ideas are appreciated, thanks,
    Anders B

    Hi!
Have everyone out there been able to use the upgrade assistant without any problem?
The UA.bat program says everything is ok but the report actually created in BIP 10G does not work in BIP 11G. We are looking for documentation or "findings" of what the problem can be, in a more general way. We are aware of that we probably have to fix this manually, but we dont know what to fix, and it is not so "fun" to be forced to re create all this templates and reports. The datamodell seems for the most of the time works, so we get a working xml source but the creation of the report thru the template dont work.
    Best regards,
    Anders

  • Migrating from Sybase 11 to Oracle 10G : Data not Captured

    Hi,
We are working on an interesting customer engagement - one part of the effort is to migrate our Customer's Database. Our Customer is using the Sysbase 11 Database - we are planning to migrate this to Oracle 10G.
We are using the latest Migration Workbench - 10.1.0.4.0. We created a new user in one of our local DB Instances & used this credential to login to the Migration Workbench tool. We have the Source Files for the Sysbase 11Database.
We tried to capture the Source Model - unfortunately, the Tool claims that the Objects have been migrated, while the Source is not captured at all. The Error Log is alos silent about any problems.
We are flummoxed by this error as we have successfuly migrated from Sysbase in the past, but never encountered this error.
Can you guuys please help us out with this ?
Please do let me know if I need to post more information
    Thanks,
    Sandeep

    Sandeep,
Have you used this user which holds the omwb repository before for a migration? When you connected the first itme, did you get a message, that the repository tables did not exist and would you like to create them?
Are you using the connected or disconnected source model load?

  • Migration of Forms6i to oracle 10g

We have some D2k applications and we need to migrate from forms6i(Client Server) to webForms (oracle 10g). i have downloaded Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2). and tried installing it on VISTA 32 bit. But it is showing me Operating system error .
Please could tell me if this Version of oracle is compatiable with windows Vista you help me in solving my problem I need to install it .

It's always a good idea to read the installation guide (especially chapter software requirements) BEFORE starting an installation. You would know current AS software does not support VISTA.

  • How to migrate a table from ORACLE 10g to 8i

have table named 'liuxg_tab_01' in 10g.
This morning I exported this table using 'exp' and then tried to imp it into 8i, I failed.
After a while, I created a database link named 'ctf' in 8i which connected to 10g. I issued 'create table test as selct * from liuxg_tab_01@ctf',it returns 'ORA-01723'.
Then I extraced the DDL of 'liuxg_tab_01' from 10g with QUEST TAOD, it's:
    CREATE TABLE LIUXG_TAB_01
    OWNER VARCHAR2(30 BYTE),
    OBJECT_NAME VARCHAR2(30 BYTE),
    SUBOBJECT_NAME VARCHAR2(30 BYTE),
    OBJECT_ID NUMBER,
    DATA_OBJECT_ID NUMBER,
    OBJECT_TYPE VARCHAR2(19 BYTE),
    CREATED DATE,
    LAST_DDL_TIME DATE,
    TIMESTAMP VARCHAR2(19 BYTE),
    STATUS VARCHAR2(7 BYTE),
    TEMPORARY VARCHAR2(1 BYTE),
    GENERATED VARCHAR2(1 BYTE),
    SECONDARY VARCHAR2(1 BYTE)
But I can not create a table using the upper DDL in 8i if I do not wipe off those "BYTES".
After creation of the table using the upper DDL without those 'BYTES', I sucessfully executed 'insert into LIUXG_TAB_01 select * from liuxg_tab_01@ctf'.
Anyone has a better method to move a table from ORACLE 10g to 8i?

    1) The particular version of 8i and 10g in use here would be useful. I'm not sure that Oracle supports database links between any version of 8i and any version of 10g, though, so you're probably lucky that it worked as well as it did.
    10g 10.1.0.3.0 and 8i 8.1.7.0.0
    2) What version of the export utility did you use? You would need to use the 8i version to generate the dump file to have any chance of working, not the 10g verion.
I use the 'exp' provided with 10g 10.1.0.3.0 and 'imp' with 8i 8.1.7.0.0. I have tried to export data directly from 10g 10.1.0.3.0 using 'exp' provided with 8i 8.1.7.0.0. Failed.
    3) Why? Since 8i is desupported, there isn't a lot of call for tools to move data from supported releases to unsupported releases.
We have an 8i DB which is still porivding insentive services. We just wanna migrate some tales from 10g to it.
FYI, NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS was introduced in 9i, so it's no suprise that 8i objected to the BYTE keyword in the DDL.
    What's FYI :P
Another option would be to generate a CSV file of the data from 10g and use SQL*Loader to load it into 8i. Not sure this would be any easier, though.

  • Quick Migrate SQL 2k To Oracle 10g fails

Has anyone come across a solution for the following:
Error ocurred during capture: ORA-24816: Expanded non LONG bind data supplied after actual LONG or LOB column
When using the quick migrate feature of SQL Developer 2.1.1.64 to import a SQL Server 2000 database into Oracle 10g. I am also using JTDS 1.2.5.
Any assistance would be appreciated - thanks in advance.

    Hi,
I found a reference to a cause for this error available in My Oracle Support -
ORA-24816 On Insert Statement (Doc ID 746333.1)
When attempting to insert data into a table that contains LOBs, received the following error during insert.
INSERT INTO catentdesc (NAME, LONGDESCRIPTION, XMLDETAIL, AVAILABLE, PUBLISHED) VALUES (?, ?, ?, ?, ?)
    ERROR
Ora-24816: expanded non long bind data supplied after actual long or lob column
    The table definition is:
    Name Null? Type
    NAME VARCHAR2(128)
    LONGDESCRIPTION CLOB
    XMLDETAIL CLOB
    AVAILABLE NOT NULL NUMBER(38)
    PUBLISHED NOT NULL NUMBER(38)
The workround was to change the insert -
INSERT INTO catentdesc (NAME, AVAILABLE, PUBLISHED,
    LONGDESCRIPTION, XMLDETAIL) VALUES (?, ?, ?, ?, ?);
where the lob columns are positioned at the end of the statement.
This is fixed in the 11.2 RDBMS.
    ========
To follow up we would need to know the statement causing the problem and the definition of the SQL*Server table involved.
Could you do a manual capture and generate the scripts for the Oracle table creates ?

    Mike

  • Oracle 10g form not always running in windows 7

hello all of you experts , the query which I am going to post here is very annoying for me but it there might be a simple solution to my problem. I have installed oracle developer 10g on windows 7. Changed the formsweb.cfg file so that it uses java plug in rather than jinitiator I have installed the JRE version 6, now the problem is that when i try to run a form sometimes it runs properly but sometimes the browser window becomes blank and the form is not visible in it and yes the splash screen which shows the name of application server stays there on the screen. the problem is in internet explorer, mozilla and chrome as well didn't check on any other browser. Please help me out i would be grateful to you guys out there. Just to let you know that this annoying behavior is not always there, i dont know why some forms do run properly but some of them dont.

That is actually not an uncommon symptom for any Windows platform. However, I will say that if you are running on Windows 7, it should be Win7-32bit and you should have installed the 10.1.2.3 patch set. Anything else would not be considered certified by Oracle and therefore not supported. The details on how to properly install Forms/Reports 10.1.2 on Win7 are outlined in MyOracleSupport note 1292919.1
Assuming you covered all that, with Dev Suite this often happens when you have abandoned a process previously then tried to start another before the first has been terminated. In other words, next time you have this happen close ALL open browser windows then open the Windows task manager. Look for any orphaned frmweb.exe processes and kill them. Now go back and try starting a form. It should work now.
It is never a good idea to terminate a running form by closing the browser. It is important that you close the form first (e.g. using the Exit button in the form) then close the browser. Closing the browser while a form is running can cause runtime processes to become orphaned. Generally these will be cleaned up when FORMS_TIMEOUT is reached (usually 15 minutes), but the point is that you have prevented a clean shutdown from occurring. So always make a best effort attempt at closing the form properly. End-users should be encouraged to do the same when the application is put into production.

  • Oracle 11g XE not working with oracle BI publisher 10g after enabling ACL

    Hello,
I previously work with oracle 10gXE and Oracle BI publisher 10g and it work fine. now i install oracle 11g XE and try to configure it with oracle Bi Publlisher, it show this error
"ORA-29273: HTTP request failed ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_HTTP", line 1324 ORA-12570: TNS:packet reader failure" after runing the ACL package to neable network service.
    on the database.
Please can any body tell be why this is not working. Tanx.

You'll need to add the apex engine owner to the ACL (Access Control List). Depending on your version of apex the user name varies. i.e. 4.0 is APEX_040000
See Joel's blog for info about the ACL and APEX.
