Migration of Designer Repository Owner from 7.3.4 to 8.1.7

My goal is database import from Oracle 7.3.4(Windows NT 4.0) to Oracle 8.1.7( Linux 7.1).
But, I have problem with importing Objects of Designer Repository Owner( no matter whether Designer 2.1 or Designer6.0).I gave Designer Repository Owner all necessary privileges an roles, but import just hangs! I can't find in log some exact information.
Thanks in advance!

I do that-full export, then full import. Then I found out that Designer Owner makes problem.
I tried to import only Designer Owner, but it didn't work again!

    Hi there,
    1. Can we migrate SharePoint Designer 2013 workflows from DEV to UAT to Live without any issues? Any bad experiences?
    2. When we deploy these workflows - does IIS need a restart?
    Thank you.

That depends, did you create reusable workflows? Those can be deployed to another environment (of course depending on dependencies within the workflow itself)

  • Do we hav to create a separate repository for Designer Repository??

    Hi
I have created a repository using a Repository Assistant. Do we have to create a separate repository for Designer Repository??? If so, how do we create a Designer Repository??

    Hi,
The basic installation of OWB paris makes a repository owner and a repository user for you.
This owner serves as the design repository owner as well as the runtime repository owner.
For creating your mappings and deploying and executing them you just need to associate a target schema with the repository owner which you can do from the repository assistant from within the design center.
I hope you are talking about OWB paris and I have been able to guess your question correctly.

  • OWB and Designer Repository

I get an error when I try to set the Application System for
Oracle Designer Repository as the Metatada source.
The Module Wizard lets me create a database link to my Designer
Repository owner, I've tested it form SQL+, but when I try to set
the Application System the answer is "The database link does not
point to a valid Oracle Designer repository". But it points to
the user who owns the Repostory!!!!
Do I need to grant any access in Oracle Desinger to my OWB user?
Can OWB connet to any Repository version?
    Tools:
    Database 8.1.7
    Desinger 6i Rel.4
    OWB 3i

I'm afraid you are right, I've read the same this morning, OWB3i
does not read Repository 6i tables. I hope Oracle will do
    something about that soon.
    Thanks,
    Jose.

  • Migrating to Designer 6i from earlier version

    Hi,
I'm attempting to migrate our old repository to that of Des6i. I have gone through the steps to set up a new repository, and am now at the crucial point where I run the 6i Repository Admin Utility and hit "Migrate A Repository". I entered the username/password for our old repository, and I get the error:
"A Designer/2000 Repository has been detected. However its version is not compatible with the Migration Process.
Migration is supported for Designer/2000 Repositories at version:
Oracle Designer/2000 Repository (TM): Release 7.0.4.0.0 Production
The Designer/2000 Repository you have nominated is at version:
Oracle Designer/2000 Repository (TM): Release 6.0.9.0.0 Production"
However, as far as I'm aware (based on the Installation Guide that was installed with Des6i), it SHOULD work - in the "Migrate data from an existing repository into a new one" section, it reads:
"To use a repository from a release of Oracle Designer earlier than 6i, you must migrate the data in it from a live Release 2.1.2 or Release 6.0 repository...into a Release 6i repository that you have already created."
Is this not correct? Or am I being tripped up in the wacky world of Oracle version numbering?
    Any advice appreciated.

  • Migrating Designer Repository 6i to Repository 10g

My client has an Oracle Designer repository 6i Version 6.5.92.1.9 Release 4.7.(Repository 9i).
He has created an Oracle Designer repository 10g (latest version) onto another server.
He wants to migrate his Repository 6i into his new repository 10g.
Is it possible to do this, if not could you tell me more.
    Thanks

He ought to be able to use the Export in the Repository Administration Utility (RAU) in 6i to export the repository and Import in the RAU in 10g to import it. Two caveats:
    1. Don't try to go from a versioned repository to a non-versioned one. I think the other way around works, but I don't have mine versioned, so I don't know for sure.
    2. Make absolutely sure that you are using the right EXP for the database version in which the 6i repository is stored and the right IMP for the database version in which the 10g repository is stored. Check the EXECUTE_EXP and EXECUTE_IMP registry settings on each. I've seen a lot of problems that could be avoided by using the right export and import.

  • Migration of Designer DB from NT to AIX possible?

The Designer Repository is running under NT with version 6i on OracleRdbms8. Are there any restrictions for migrating the Database/Repository from NT to Database8i on a AIX Server ? We don't use any "external "files or either generating Forms out of the Designer, just the database.
    Thanking you in advance.

Apologies for the delay responding to this.
You should be able to transfer the whole database using the Export utility (not the export feature in the RAU, which only exports the repository). Create a database on the AIX server and import the exported dmp file. Strongly recommend reading the server admin docs first (can't see any on OTN that go back as far as 8i)

  • Dropped Design Repository from OWB

I accidentally dropped the design repository from OWB. A backup copy has been restored to the DB, but still it's missing. Please help.

What OWB release you used and how did you create backup?
If OWB release is 9.2 and backup has been created with Oracle exp utility then you can try to use script Restore_repos.txt from OWB Sample code page (this is the sequence of actions for restoring design repository). Find this script at
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/products/warehouse/index.html
Maybe this document will work and for OWB10gR1 but I don't sure.

  • Upgrade of Designer repository from 6i to latest version

Is the designer repository supported in a 10gR2 database?
We plan to upgrade to the latest developer suite and i'm working on a POC. I've upgraded the repository database to 10gR2. Now, i plan to install the latest version of developer suite on a client box and then run the RAU to upgrade the repository.
Has anyone done this? And can share his/her experience?
    Thanks.

According to the Metalink note about this (Note:60705.1), both 9i and 10g Designer can run on 10gR2 databases. You're right to upgrade though, because the 6i repository is not certified on that database.
By the by, latest full Developer Suite is 10.1.2.0.2. But there is a newer Designer (v 10.1.2.2) available, which that same Metalink note says is certified with the base 10.1.2.0.2 Developer. I'd go with the newest Designer if I were you.
    have fun

  • Original Repository Owner deleted in Designer 6.5.93.2.8

    Hi all,
I am currently working in a new environment where a cleansing action of Repository users has been executed. By error, somebody has deleted an account that on hindsight had the privileges to manipulate roles and privileges. We are not able to manipulate ever since that ID was deleted.
How can an account (there is no user REPOS_OWNER or REPOS_MANAGER) be reinstated, provided with the relevant privileges to grant privileges to other users and fulfil the role of a Repository Owner? Could this be any user? Are there any scripts available that were supposedly run when the Repository was first installed that can be run again?
Hopefully somebody can be of assistance, which would be greatly appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    Victor Bax
    The Netherlands

You can use the script "Oracle_home\repadm61\utl\ckrorole.sql",
which creates the role CK_ORACLE_REPOS_OWNER and grants it a set of system privileges.
Then grant the role to the user.

  • Getting Started on Designer Repository

    Hi
I need to install, create designer repository on Windows 2003 including data model. Where can I get a starting point to learn all about Oracle designer - Installation, Administration etc.
I haven't found any good document for beginner so far. I downloaded Installation document from oracle, but it does make little sense to me as I have absolutely no idea on designer.
Please shed some light on this.
I will also need to migrate existing data model to the new repository.
    Thanks for the help!

    1. you need to have the standard or enterprise edition of the database.
then you can use my script to get a repository created. Of course you will need to change things to set it to your database and not mine. But here it is.
After you install the IDS 10G in a new oracle home on the Client windows PC you will find the intall manual under:
start - programs- Oracle Developer Suite - Designer documentation - Repository instalation Guide
The following are the step I use to build a new repository
You will need to set paths and names as you desire for your local PCs and repostiory.
    -- Step 1
    Log on as SYS
This is so you can get the path name of your datafiles:

    sort_area_retained_size = 65536
    hash_area_size = 1048576

    optimizer_index_cost_adj = 25
    shared_pool_size = 32000000

    db_file_multiblock_read_count=32 # for a 2K Oracle block size
    db_file_multiblock_read_count=8 # for a 8K Oracle block size
Step 5b - (Oracle 9i or 10.2 DB) Install Oracle 9i or 10.2 Import and Export Utilities
Before installing Designer Repository on an Oracle 9i or 10.2 database, you need to set up the installation workstation to use the Oracle 9i or 10.2 import and export utilities. To do so, perform the following steps at the workstation from which you will be running the repository installation:
From the Oracle 9i or 10.2 installation media, install the Oracle 9i or 10.2 import and export utilities in a dedicated Oracle home.
In the Windows Registry, locate the key named:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\KEY_HomeName\REPOS61
where HOMEn is the home number of the home installed into for a multiple Oracle home environment, but is not present where the default Oracle home is being used.
Change the value of the EXECUTE_IMPORT and EXECUTE_EXPORT variables to point to the new Oracle home. Thus, if the new Oracle home is d:\des_9i, the settings would be:
    d:\des_9i\bin\exp.exe
    d:\des_9i\bin\imp.exe
    -- Step 6
Log on to the Repository Admin Utility of Designer
start - programs- Oracle Developer Suite - Designer - Repository Admin Utility
    Install Repository button
Make sure both check boxes are checked(one is grayed out) Next
Select the proper tablespace for the seletced box
    Start the install.
    I wish you well.

  • How to merge two users in design repository

    Hi,
i want to clone a design repository. But i got an error.
The problem is that i have 2 User in my design repository. One User is the owner of the tables and one User fills the tables.
For clone the repository i mustn't have 2 Users. Can i migrate the two user into one User?
    thanks
    Wolle

There's no simple way to merge two accounts. What you can do is log into the account that you want to move (and, presumably, delete) and put all of the data into the Shared folder. Then log into the account that you want to keep and put all the documents, music, etc., from the 'old' account into the keeper account/ Log back into the old account and make sure that all your data is gone, then log back into the keeper account and delete the old account.
It's pretty simple, really, if you just use the Shared folder to move documents.
