  • EBS 11.5.10.2 with bd 9.2.0.8.0 on AIX 5.3 migration to EBS 11.5.10.2 with bd 10g or 11gR2 on AIX 6.1 Path

    hello,
I wonder to know what is the path that can I choose to migrate the EBS 11.5.10.2 with bd 9.2.0.8.0 on AIX 5.3 to EBS 11.5.10.2 with bd  11gR2 on AIX 6.1.
According to the certification form in the Oracle support, EBS 11.5.10.2 is not certified with 9.2.0.8.0 database on AIX 6.1,
So must I start by migrating the database first to 10g/11g on aix 5.3 (with it's different patches and pre-requisites)  and then migrate the OS to IBM AIX 6.1 with the right release TL4 SP2.
    Or
I must start by migrating the OS to AIX 6.1 to have every thing running on AIX 6.1 and then migrate the database to 10g/11g and it's different patches and pre-requisites ?
    Thank you for any help.

    I have an other question
    - in the metalink doc ID : (Note 883202.1) [ID 1271621.1]
Do I Have to do the steps :
    - ATG Rollup Patch
    - JAVA
    - products patches
before or after cloning on AIX 6.1  ?

  • Migration of EBS Linux to AIX

Hi, i am making a migration of EBS 11.5.10 CU2 of Linux to AIX 6.1, and only i have a question about the documentation.
    The steps are:
    1) Generate and upload the manifest of customer-specific files
    2) Create the Target System APPL_TOP
    3) Clone the AutoConfig XML context file on the Target System
    4) Install the Middle Tier Technology Stack
    5) Apply the Oracle interoperability patches
In this step (5), i have my question, how can i apply the patch of interoperability?, i must execute: adpatch, but adpatch is a binary that is in APPL_TOP and the APPL_TOP is of Linux not AIX, so the executable doesn't run. How can i apply the patch so?
Thank you very much for your time.

Hi Hussein, first thank you for helping me.
About the question no, in the Note of metalink even in a white paper of IBM the step 5 we must apply a special path a Metalink of compatibility for the new environment so in this case i need to apply the patch for my new environment in AIX.
So the readme of the patch says:
    Abstract
    Platform Migration patch
    Update 11790872
    Product Applications Updates
    Release 11i
Platform IBM AIX on POWER Systems (32-bit)
    Built FEB-18-2011 15:45:45
    Instructions
Note: This patch is specific to your Applications system code level, at the
time the file manifest was generated. Discard this patch and request a new
one if you have applied any patches to your source system after requesting
    this patch.
    1. Source the APPL_TOP environment file on the target migration system
This environment was created during the execution of AutoConfig.
See MetaLink Note 238276.1, the step entitled "Run AutoConfig on the
    Target Node."
    2. Unzip this patch into a patch directory. This will create the
    directory 11790872.
    3. Change directories to the 11790872 directory created in step 2 above.
    4. Run adpatch from the current directory to apply this patch using
    the u11790872.drv driver:
    ./adpatch options=noprereq
So my question is, how can i use adpatch in the step 4 if i don't have the adpatch still as binary of AIX.

  • Migration of EBS from 32 bit to 64 bit

    Hi
I want to migrate my EBS (11.5.10.2) from SUSE Linux 10 32 bit to SUSE linux 10 64 bit.
I want to upgrade EBS from 11.5.10.2 to 12.1.1.
As this Production I want to reduce the max down time.
I know that 11i is not supported on 64 bit architecture.
Can you please guide me the migration path on higher level
    Thanks

IMO, the following would be the best approach.
    1. Lay down R12 (12.1.1) software on the new 64-bit server

  • Database Migration and upgrade

    Hi,
We are planning to migrate the data center to new location. The new data center already have the hard ware. We have to move the data dump and upgrade the Database. Our most DB are on Oracle
10g Solar UNIX and the new hardware is on Oracle 11.2.0.4 with Linux (Oracle or Redhat Linux). The following activity needs to be done:
    1) Taking the export on existing database.
    2) Moving the export dump to new location, along with the archived data which is stored in the tape. (this is where a suggestion required most on different ways of doing that).
    3) Importing and upgrading the database in new location.
Could some one please suggest the strategy and helpful tool which for performing this activity.

Are you expected to move all 100+ databases in a 48 hour window with datapump ? That is a tall order
What is the network capacity (i.e. how fat is the pipe) between the two locations and how far apart are they ? Typically, there should be no data loss or corruption when transferring files over a network. The time required to move/upgrade a 300G database can only be determined by performing a test upgrade that closely resembles production environment.

  • Does Time Machine/Migration Assistant successfully transfer software licenses for Microsoft Office and Adobe?

I have a MacBook that I purchased in late 2007.  It's been very good to me over the years.  However, I'm been having various minor issues, and tonight I noticed that the screen goes to black at about 45° as I'm closing my laptop.  In other situations I'd try to fix this myself, but right now I'm a Peace Corps Volunteer in rural South America and have limited access to the right tools, much less replacement parts.  So instead I'm taking it as a sign that my trustworthy companion is about to give up the ghost and I should get a new computer now, instead of completely running this one into the ground and potentially losing important documents, photos, &c.
My question is simple:  Does Time Machine and/or Migration Assistant successfully transfer licenses for Microsoft Office 2011 and for Adobe software?
My software installation disks are in a box in a basement in the United States.  And since I'm not quite sure which box it is (last summer I did not see the need to label my own boxes), I'm not going to ask some unsuspecting friend or family member to dig through all my posessions to find an alphanumeric code or two, especially if I can just transfer/migrate the license without it.
    Many thanks.

Try the combo update on the old machine.
    10.6.8 Combo Updater
If the 2 computers have the correct cable connections, try the Target Disk Mode.

You should be able to change the permissions on the files.. this is yet another bungle by Mavericks I suspect.

Sometimes it is because you Migrated wrongly.

It is not up to Mavericks because sadly the guy who wrote all this great info died recently.

Since migrating from Windows 7 to Windows 8 and upgrading to iTunes 11, the latter has frozen while syncing my devices, usually while at the “determining apps to sync” stage of the process.  If I am attempting to download app updates before attempting to sync, the problem normally occurs at the first “installing app x” stage.  In addition, the whole iTunes experience is extremely sluggish and will even freeze while searching for a track.  Everything worked fine on Windows 7.  So far, I have repaired the program several times and have checked for compatibility issues, but there is no Windows 8 option in the combo box, obtained after right-clicking the icon and selecting Properties/Compatibility.  As a result, I am unable to sync my devices. If I uninstall iTunes before re-installing, will this affect my iTunes libraries?  Does anyone have any suggestions?

After going by elimination to isolate if the problem was from (1) iTunes app, (2) my computer or (3) my old iPhone 4G, I figured out what my problem was.
    1) First I deleted & reinstalled iTunes on my Windows PC without succes, my playlist did not changed on my iPhone.
    2) I tested a successful #sync from the iMac at work.
So my conclusion is: The hard drive on my Windows PC is full and that is affecting iTunes SYNC functionalities.
So I'll do a back-up then run a "Clean Install" of my Windows OS, hoping that it will fix my SYNC problems.

  • Migration from SYBASE IQ to SYBASE ASE 11/12 and then to ORACLE 10G

    Hi ,
The OWMB tool does not support migration of SYBASE IQ to ORACLE.So there should be some tool to migrate this SYBASE IQ to SYBASE ASE 11/12.And then which we can migrate to ORACLE which the OMWB supports.Does anybody have any idea about such tool(SYBASE IQ to SYBASE ASE 11/12).
    Thanks With Regards,
    Vinoth

    Vinoth,
That's correct. However Sybase IQ is normally associated with Data Warehouses. Have you investigated the suitability of using Oracle Warehouse builder to assist with such a migration?

  • Transportable tablespaces for migration and upgrade

    Hello All,
I'm trying to find out some theory about transportable tablespace and upgrade in a single step. I've to move a DB from a Windows server to a Linux server. Win is running 10.1 and Linux 10.2 . It's possible to use RMAN to migrate the whole database and then on new node run startup upgrade and catupgrd.sql to upgrade catalog ?
    Should work?
    Thanks
    Raj

The following doc for TDB says :-
"Note: TDB requires the same Oracle Database software version on the source and target systems; hence, a database upgrade cannot be accomplished simultaneous with the platform migration. However, best practices for a database upgrade, as documented in the Oracle Upgrade Companion, also apply to any planned database maintenance activity, including platform migration."
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/deploy/availability/pdf/MAA_WP_10gR2_PlatformMigrationTDB.pdf
There is also an Oracle Whitepaper called "Database Upgrade Using Transportable Tablespaces: Oracle Database 11g Release 1" but I am still trying to find a copy.

  • SCSM Migration and Upgrade

We are currently planning to upgrade to SCSM 2012 R2, from SCSM 2010.  We would like to use all new servers and accounts in the new environment but still want to retain the old data.  I have not found good documentation on how to accomplish this.
The best solution I can come up with is to do a DR migration of the databases to the new SQL server and then install SCSM 2012 R2, telling it to use the existing databases instead of creating new ones.  Does anyone know if this will work?

if you don't need to change the management group name, my suggestion would be to upgrade your current servers to 2012 and then depending on your data retention settings either rebuilt the DW on a new server and turn off the old one(if you still have all
of your historical data in the Operational DB) or follow the DR steps to move the DB.
Once you have your DW server migration complete install a new Management server and make the required changes to move the workflows to the new Management server then you can decommission the current management server.
another option depending on the number of classes you want to migrate you could look at exporting the data to csv and then doing a csv import.
