Migration of emulated datasource from 3.5 to BI 7

Hi Experts,
    For a requirement I want to migrate a emulated datasource 0material_attr   to bi 7.Previously some one already developed complete dataflow in 3.x, now i need to migrate every thing in bi 7.In order to make sure do i need to follow any sequence for this migration ( means first transferrule and then updaterule and then datasource) or I can directly migrate datasouce in BI 7 and then create transformation.Please any body suggest me.
Thanks & Regards
Vinod Kumar

Hi,
1.     Migrate all UpdateRules
Select the UpdateRule and press the right mouse button to get the context menu.
Choose u201CAdditional Functionsu201D and select u201CCreate Transformationu201D.
The UpdateRule is based on a 3.x InfoSource. The Transformation has to be created on a InfoSource (called u201CNew InfoSourceu201D ). A pop-up will ask you if you want to create a new InfoSource as a copy of the existing 3.x InfoSource. We need to have the new InfoSource, therefore choose u201CCopy InfoSource 3.x to New InfoSourceu201D and press enter.
2.     Migrate all TransferRules, for each relevant Source System Release
The migration of TransferRules is almost the same as the migration of UpdateRules. The main difference is, that you should not create a new InfoSource during the migration process. You have created the InfoSource already in the first step during the migration of the UpdateRule. Reuse the already existing InfoSource. Otherwise the link to the Transformation created before is missing.
Please have in mind that a transformation is source system dependent. Therefore the shadow table logic is the same as already known for the TransferRules. Be aware that you have to build a transformation pointing to a DataSource for each source system release which is needed (Basis release e.g. 620,640,700u2026) .
In order to perform the migration as described at the beginning of this chapter all TransferRules for the required SourceSystem relations must be active in the system.
3.     Migrate the DataSource. Make sure, that no TransferRule is still using the DataSource .
The migration of the DataSource is the last step which is needed to migrate the whole dataflow. Please make sure that not TransferRules pointing to this DataSource are still in use. How this can be done will be added later to the document.
TransferRules will be deleted when the DataSource is getting migrated. Choose the DataSource and select the Entry u201CMigrateu201D in the context menu.
4.     Test if everything is ok.
5.     Delete the UpdateRules and the 3.x InfoSource if the InfoSource in not used by still existing UpdateRules.
Best regards,
Frank

  • Emulation Datasource

    hi
    I am a bit confused with term EMULATION.
    In help doc
    If the 3.x DataSource already exists in a data flow based on the old concept, you use emulation first to model the data flow with transformations and data transfer processes and then test it. During migration you can delete the data flow you were using before, along with the metadata objects.
    In the above statement: <b>you use emulation first to model the data flow with transformations</b> .
    Here i am in 7.0 version and using 3.X features. Now i want them to convert into 7.0 by doing transformations. I am on dev server, transferrules, updaterules, transfer structure exist for the datasource.
    Can anyone tell me in simple terms what is the meaning of emulated datasource Q2.  what is emulation and purpose of emulation?
    Q3. How can i achieve perfect migration by using emulation?
    REgards
    Annie

    Hi Annie,
    Emulation of DataSource enables you to create Transformations & DTP for a 3.x (R3TR ISFS) DataSource, without migrating it to the 7.0 (R3TR RSDS).
    Meaning of Emulation: You can use error stack with an emulated DataSource. In general, migrating to the new DataSource form ensures you have completely moved to the new dataflow concept in a consistent manner. The new dataflow has good advantages from a performance standpoint, in that you can parallelize the data load. The error stack is a big advantage from a data quality standpoint. The overall approach using DTP's is a step forward in that the dataflow occurs in a more transparent manner in process chains and monitoring.
    More on it, you dont have to Migrate the DataSource so the existing UR & TR are not requierd to be deleted.
    Please read below on Migration(3.x to 7.x) & also restoration(7.x to 3.x) of DataSources.
    Migration: -
    When a DataSource 3.x (R3TR ISFS) is migrated, it is deleted and transferred to the DataSource (R3TR RSDS).
    The dependent 3.x objects mapping (R3TR ISMP) and transfer structure (R3TR ISTS) are deleted, if they exist, (R3TR ISIP) and the PSA with requests that have already been loaded are transferred into the DataSource. The 3.x objects can also be exported as part of the migration process. This means it is possible to recover the metadata objects DataSource 3.x, the mapping and the transfer structure.
    Restoration:
    It is only possible to recover a DataSource 3.x if it was migrated with export. This allows the objects DataSource 3.x (R3TR ISFS), mapping (R3TR ISMP), and transfer structure (R3TR ISTS) to recover the same status as they had before the migration.
    During the recovery the DataSource (R3TR RSDS) is deleted. The system tries to retain the PSA. This is, however, not possible if the PSA was initially generated for the DataSource because either there was no active transfer structure for DataSource 3.x or it was loaded using IDoc.
    The dependent objects transformation (R3TR TRFN), Data transfer process (R3TR DTPA), and InfoPackage (R3TR ISIP) are retained. If you want to delete them, you must do this manually.
    Thanks for any points you choose to assign.

  • Is it a must to migrate 3.x DataSources

    Hi,
    We have BI 7.0 newly installed, DataSource activated from Business Contents are in 3.X version (e.g. 2LIS_11_VAHDR).
    What is the best practice to these 3.x DataSources from Business Content? Is it recommended to migrate them to newer version?
    I read some comments that there are risks do to the migration (e.g., transfer/update rules gone missing/not properly migrated) and it will not be supported by SAP after migration.  Is this true?
    I believe these 3.x DataSources from Business Contents are quite matured by now.  By doing migration, manual conversion of transfer & update rules to transformation rules may be necessary, and this can significantly increase the development time and additional testing (for something already working in older version) is required.
    For new DataSources to be develped, we will definitely follow the new method.

    "I read some comments that there are risks do to the migration (e.g., transfer/update rules gone missing/not properly migrated) and it will not be supported by SAP after migration. Is this true?"
    Yes the update and transfer rules will be deleted although you can do back up  and later recover them.
    "We have BI 7.0 newly installed, DataSource activated from Business Contents are in 3.X version (e.g. 2LIS_11_VAHDR).
    What is the best practice to these 3.x DataSources from Business Content? Is it recommended to migrate them to newer version?"
    It all depends on when you want to migrate. You could wait until the SAP delivers all the reqd business content for transformations etc but there is no exact timeframe on when that will be happening. Only thing is you will be missing the new 7.0 features.

  • Updaing 2 schema's in 1 db = non-emulated datasource

    When updating two databases from within a single tx, you must use a non-emulated datasource (i.e. JTA support is required).
    Is this true of updating two database schema's (same database) in the same tx as well ? The Oracle documentation seems not to discuss this.
    Regards,
    Manoj.

    Manoj -- My apologies. I misread the question. If you reference another schema but only use a single data source definition then it is a 1 PC. You only need to configure 2 PC if you will be creating transactions across two different data sources and you want true 2 PC semantics. In fact, I'm not sure if in the pure Oracle database view of the world you wouldn't have to do the same thing but it has just been a while since I looked at that. Don't forget that you can also use basic database mechanisms like synonyms and views to reference the other schema.
    Thanks -- Jeff

  • How to Upgrade datasources from 3x to 7x versions

    Hi Experts
      How to Upgrade datasources from 3x to 7x versions.
      I am planning to upgrade exisisting 3x data sources which are used in data loading are there any risks involved in upgrade
    Thanks

    Hi,
    When you migrate a 3.x DataSource (R3TR ISFS) in an original system, the system generates a DataSource (R3TR RSDS) with a transport connection. The 3.x DataSource is deleted, along with the 3.x metadata object mapping (R3TR ISMP) and transfer structure (R3TR ISTS), which are dependent on it. If a PSA and InfoPackages (R3TR ISIP) already exist for the 3.x DataSource, they are transferred to the migrated DataSource, along with the requests that have already been loaded. After migration, only the specifications about how data is loaded into the PSA are used in the InfoPackage.
    You can export the 3.x objects, 3.x DataSource, mapping and transfer structure during the migration so that these objects can be restored. The collected and serialized objects are stored in a local table (RSDSEXPORT).
    You can now transport the migration into the target system.
    When you import the transport into the target system in the after-import, the system migrates the 3.x DataSource (R3TR ISFS) (as long as it is available in the target system) to a local DataSource (R3TR RSDS), without exporting the objects that are to be deleted. The 3.x DataSource, mapping (R3TR ISMP) and transfer structure (R3TR ISTS) objects are deleted and the related InfoPackages are migrated. The data in the DataSource (R3TR RSDS) is transferred to the PSA.

  • How do I get rid of the Microsoft Setup Assistant loop? I migrated my software/documents from another laptop so don't have the disk to reinstall. Please help! Can't open any Microsoft Office software, like Word, and stuck in a loop?

    I migrated my software/documents from another laptop so don't have the disk to reinstall. Please help! Can't open any Microsoft Office software, like Word (for 2008), and stuck in a loop?
    Whenever I select Word Microsoft Setup Assistant appears, asks for feedback, then after selecting okay (both on saying yes or no to feedback) goes on to a registration page. When I click on this it says I've already registered so I just click okay, and then move on to a update page. After this, if I click on Word, the process repeats itself.
    As I said, I don't have the disk to reinstall, and can't find the Office Settings to delete as many pages have suggested I should try. Safe Boot restarting also hasn't worked... Really stuck and need Word very soon for work.
    If you can help, that would be great, and feel free to ask any questions about the situation as I'm not an expert here.
    Cheers,
    Jack

    First, export your contact from iCloud.com and save them on your computer in a safe spot some where (like you desktop).  Use this to help you do this: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3606
    Next, on both of your devices, go to Settings > iCloud and turn on contacts and select Merge. Then turn off contacts and select 'Delete form my [device]' when prompted.
    Now go back to iCloud.com and select a contact (yes they will all be messed up again) and select Command+A on a Mac or Control+A on a PC to select all of the contacts.  Tap the delete key on your keyboard (or right click /control click a contact and select delete).
    You iPhone, iPad and iCloud.com should not be empty for contacts.
    Go back to Settings > iCloud on both devices and turn on contacts again (you should not see merge this time).
    Next, go back to iCloud.com and import your contacts (those exported .vcards).  You can either drag and drop them into the empty contacts list in your web browser, or you can use the gear icon to import.
    You cleaned up contacts should import correctly into iCloud.com and sync to both of your devices.
    Good luck.

  • Migration of  Approved Invoices from 11i to R12

    Hi All,
    I am migrating all approved invoices from 11i to R12 using Invoice Interface tables and "Payables Open Interface Import" Concurrent program.But in R12 the Approval status changes and to "Required" and the Accounted status of distribution line changes to Unprocessed. We do not have the set up for approval work flow process, So the invoice should be validated by "Force Validation" by checking the ‘Allow Force Approval’ in payable options. But when I am running the "Invoice Validation" program the theere is no change in the Approval status.
    Please help.
    Thanks in Advance,

    I am a newbie to Oracle Apps. I guess Oracle Apps use the "sequence" to generate the Key in the Oracle tables or is there some else mechanism.
    When migrating Oracle Apps from lower version to higher version, is there any concept of setting the sequence numbers in Oracle Apps or we don't need to take care of this ie the migration handles this automatically.The migration/upgrade script/driver should take of seeded objects,
    For your custom objects, you need to verify it yourself.
    Thanks,

  • Migrating a webi report from one environment to another using import wizard

    Hi Everyone,
    Can anyone please tell me what all access should I have on my ID to be able to migrate a webi report from one environment to another environment(e.g. from development to quality).
    Regards,
    Neeraj Sharma

    Hi,
    To use the Import Wizard utility, you basically need Administrator, Full Control to Top-level folder, and "Add objects to the folder" and "Edit objects" for this user on the root folder.
    You need the least restrictive role, because you require absolute control for content promotion between 2 entitlement systems.
    the webi document is the cherry on-top,  you;ll have universes, connections, folders to bring over too.

  • How can I look up DataSource from one EJB to the other EJB?

    Image that, I have 3 databases:
    DB1
    DB2
    DB3,
    And then, 03 DataSources is deployed in DS EJB, named DataSource1, DataSource2, DataSource3.
    In the other App EJB, I have Connection Management function, as follows:
    public Connection getConnection(databaseKey) {
    if (databaseKey.equals("DB1")){
    connection = remote.lookup("DataSource1");
    }else if (databaseKey.equals("DB2")){
    connection = remote.lookup("DataSource2");
    }else if (databaseKey.equals("DB3")){
    connection = remote.lookup("DataSource3");
    return connection;
    How can I access DataSource 1,2,3 from the other EJB? How to config EJB server for that?
    Thanks in advance!
    Now, I have the other App EJB. Some class will require one of the above DataSource from DS EJB through function getConnection(databaseKey){}

    I strongle suggest you to use a ServiceLocator for this . It will be very easy to identify.Go to the sun home page and look for a servicelocator pattern.You can even directly use that code for you.

  • HT4889 I have accidentally created another account when using Migration Assistant to a new MBA. How do I now 'migrate' all the files from both accounts into one to save myself having two accounts, both of which are me? Help?

    I have accidentally created another account when using Migration Assistant to a new MBA. I have read that I probably should not have skipped migration in the initial set up and the problem would have been avoided but, alas, here I am. Does anyone know how I can 'migrate' all the files from one of the accounts that has been created to the other, so then I can delete it and have a single user on the computer seeing as I am the only person using it? I have read starting again, if this is the way to go, where is the best place to start 'starting again'?

    Yes definitely should see it but its not coming up (I don't think) when I log out of 2nd user and into the main account. Opening finder in the 2nd account, I can obviously find the public folder because thats where I dropped all the files, but when in the main account, it can't be found. The only public folder that comes up is the folder for that account (main account) and it does not display files I'm looking for. Frustrating....
    EDIT: Have found it through a round-about way but all music and photo and movie etc files have a red stop sign disallowing them from being transferred. Can you guess what the next question will be?

  • How can I migrate an Aperture library from an external HDD with Mac OS Extended (Journaled, Encrypted) format?

    How can I migrate an Aperture library from an external HDD with Mac OS Extended (Journaled, Encrypted) format?
    I used to store my pictures on an external hard drive using the latest version of Aperture. Now I tried migrating my Aperture library to Photos. However, after a short moment an error message popped up telling me that "Photos was unable to make a copy of your library before preparing it. Photos does not have the necessary permissions...".
    My external HDD doesn't need any permission repairs nor is the system prohibited to read from or write to it.

    My guess is that the encryption is the problem for the new app.

  • I set up my new computer using the apple ID i always use, and then later migrated all my files from my old mac book to the same new one, but under a different user (same ID). how do i consolidate the two users on my new mac book?

    i set up my new computer using the apple ID i always use, and then later migrated all my files from my old mac book to the same new one, but under a different user (same apple ID). how do i consolidate the two users on my new mac book?

    Well if you use the Finder Go menu to Computer, a window opens up double click on your boot drive and then on Users folder, open the other user folder and open Public and drop your files into DropBox
    When you do this it will copy them and change the permissions and user assigned to it, so log into the other user and place them into your respective normal folders.
    Once you have all your files over and don't need the old user, use System Preferences > Accounts to delete it if you wish, however it's good two Admin accounts on the machine in case something bad happens in the other. Some people for security reasons on use a Standard account for most uses and a emergency Admin account.
    One can still do most Admin things in Standard user.
