Migration of FI-CA system

I wander how to perform migration of FI-CA (ECC6.0) system from an HP-UX to Linux Redhat on VMware. It is an system with   Oracle database
The amount of data is 1,5 TB. What would be the (aprox) time for export.
Where could I find guide for heterogeneous system copy to perform that?

Eric,
That is not an issue for us.  Oracle is now supported in production on VMware (excluding RAC).  A new OSS note was generate ~ a couple of weeks ago.:
SAP Note 1173954 - Support of Oracle for VMWare
Note Language: English Version: 6 Validity: Valid Since 13.01.2010
Summary
Symptom
You plan to use VMware with SAP Products with the Oracle Database.
This note decribes Oracle's official support policy for VMware in SAP
environments.
More Terms
VMware, Linux, Windows, RAC
Cause and Prerequisites
You encounter a problem with the Oracle single instance database (no RAC)
with SAP running in a VMware virtualized environment on the Windows or
Linux OS platform.
For SAP with Oracle in VMware virtualized environments please consider the
following additional prerequisites:
o Oracle 10.2.0.4 and higher (no Oracle 10.2.0.2, no Oracle 10.2.0.3,
no Oracle 9.2.x)
o Only Oracle single instance, no support for Oracle RAC
o minimum recommended Windows OS: Microsoft Windows Server 2008
o VMware ESX 3.5 and higher will be supported (includes VMware vSpere
v4)
o Every customer opening SAP support calls needs to clearly signal in
the first line of the message text that they are using a
virtualized environment using VMware.
Solution
Oracle has not certified any of its products on VMware virtualized
environments. Oracle Support will assist customers running Oracle databases
on VMware in the following manner:
Oracle will only provide support for issues that either are known to occur
on the native OS, or can be demonstrated not to be as a result of running
on VMware.
If a problem is a known Oracle issue, Oracle Support will recommend the
appropriate solution on the native OS. When the customer can demonstrate
that the Oracle solution does not work when running on the native OS,
Oracle will resume support, including logging a bug with Oracle Development
for investigation if required.
If the problem is determined not to be a known Oracle issue, the problem
will be forwarded to VMware for support. When the customer can demonstrate
that the issue occurs when running on the native OS, Oracle will resume
support.
The above solution description is in line with the context of Oracle
Metalink Note 249212.1.

  • Best Practice: Migrating transports to Prod (system down etc.)

    Hi all
This is more of a process and governance question as opposed to a ChaRM question.
We use ChaRM to migrate transports to Production systems. For example, we have a Minor BAU Release (every 2 weeks), a Minor Initiative Release (every 4 weeks) and a Major Release (every 3 months).
We realise that some of the major releases may require SAP to be taken offline. But what is SAP Best practice for ANY release into Production? i.e. for our Minor BAU Release we never shut down any Production systems, never stop batch jobs, never lock users etc.
What does SAP recommend when migrating transports to Prod?
    Thanks
    Shaun

Have you checked out the "Two Value Releases Per Year" whitepaper for SAP recommendations?  Section 6 is applicable.
Lifetime Support by SAP » Two Value Releases per Year
The "real-world" answer is going to depend on how risk-adverse versus downtime adverse your company is.  I think most companies would choose to keep the systems running except when SAP forces an outage or there is a real risk of data corruption (some data conversions and data loads, for example).
Specific to your minor BAU releases, it may be wise to make a process whereby anything that requires a production shutdown, stopped batch jobs, locked users, etc. needs to be in a different release type. But if you don't have the kind of control, your process will need to allow for these things to happen with those releases.
Also, with regards to stopping batch jobs in the real world, you always need to balance the desire to take full advantage of the available systems versus the pain of managing the variations.  If your batch schedule is full, how are you going to make sure the critical jobs complete on time when you do need to take the system down?  If it isn't full, why do you need that time?  Can you make sure only non-critical batch jobs run during those times?  Do you have a good method of implementing an alternate batch schedule when need be?

  • Migration from Sun Java System Portal Server to the Oracle Portal

Hi, I'm in charge of evaluate the viability of a project that comprises the migration from Sun Java System Portal Server to the Oracle Portal. so I'm wondering if there is a kind of out of box migration tool in Oracle Portal or exists some guidelines to do the migration. In the other hand there is the option of migrate from Sun Java System Portal Server to Oracle WebCenter?
    Thanks in advance!

The migration path for Sun Portal Server is Oracle WebCenter Suite. WebCenter is a significantly different architecture so there are no tools planned for the migration. However, we do plan to document and publish a whitepaper once we've assisted a few of the initial customer migrations.

    Hi,
We want to know can we migrate SAP 40B release system from windows NT to windows 2003 server; if yes, please share with us the OS migration document.
    Regards,

    > Our SAP 4 O B is on windows NT and oracle version is 8.0.5 and wants to do OS migration from NT to win. 2003.
Neither Oracle 8.0 nor 8i were releases on Windows 2003, they won't work and are not released.
So I'm afraid the only way you can go is Windows 2000.

  • Active Directory domain migration with Exchange 2010, System Center 2012 R2 and File Servers

    Greeting dear colleagues!
I got a task to migrate existing Active Directory domain to a new froest and a brand new domain.
I have a single domain with Forest/Domain level 2003 and two DC (2008 R2 and 2012 R2). My domain contains Exchange 2010 Organization, some System Center components (SCCM, SCOM, SCSM) and File Servers with mapped "My Documents" user folders. Domain
    has about 1500 users/computers.
How do u think, is it realy possible to migrate such a domain to a new one with minimum downtime and user interruption? Maybe someone has already done something like that before? Please, write that here, i promise that i won't ask for instruction from you,
maybe only some small questions :)
Now I'm studying ADMT manual for sure.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Dmitriy,
I got a task to migrate existing Active Directory domain to a new froest and a brand new domain.
How do u think, is it realy possible to migrate such a domain to a new one with minimum downtime and user interruption?
As far as I know, during inter-forest migration, user and group objects are cloned rather than migrated, which means they can still access resources in the source forest, they can even access resources after the migration is completed. You can ask users
to switch domain as soon as the new domain is ready.
    Therefore, there shouldn’t be a huge downtime/interruption.

  • Data migration from 4.7 system to ECC 6.0

    Hi All,
I am a Solution Architect. Currently working on a typical pursuit requirement. the requirement is as below:
One of our customer is currently on SAP 4.7 system.  Their current system is shared by 2 companies & the companies got demerged now. Hence they are palnning for fresh ECC 6.0 implementation & migrating Master data & transactional data related to this customer from the current 4.7 system to ECC 6.0.
I am seeing possible way for data migration is through ALE or LSMW. But I am not confident about the execution plan & process.
I would wish to know from you people is:
    1. The different methods to do data migration from 4.7 to ECC 6.0 with pros & cons
    2. How to plan for data migration
    3. Risks & mitigations during data migration
    4. different kind of skill set & duration required to accomplish this requirement
Currently we are planning for 6 months for the ECC 6.0 core modules implementation.
If you have undergone this kind of project then request you to share your experience. Any information on this regard is appreciated.

  • Migration Assistant killed my system...

    ...I think.
I created a new partition on my Mountain Lion-driven iMac's drive and installed a fresh, unadulterated Mavericks on that barren partition. I left it at that, choosing not to migrate most of my data-driven life for the time being. I primarily wanted to be able to install the new FCPX 10.1 and see what that was all about and needed to be running Mavericks to do so.
Okay, fine. All went went well. The system worked great; I even installed an app or two that I use the most and was enjoying a problem-free computing life. Well tonight I got cocky and decided, right, let's just move things over to Mavericks. I decided to do the prudent thing and implement Migration Assistant to move all the little things that hide in the guts of a computer I would never be able to find. So I did. Launched it, selelcted the things I wanted moved over and sent it on its way.
THe process appeared to go as it should until it came to restart. The monitor came on and the gray screen with Apple logo and tiny, spinning spokey thing never left. I waited and waited. The screen never changed. I restarted into my old 10.8.5 system and ran the h**l out of Disk Utility on the Mavericks partition; verifying and repairing whatever it repairs. Over and over. I restated over to the Mavericks system and again: gray screen, spinning spokes. Dead in the water. Didn't even hear any HD activity.
I finally decided to run the restore option when resstarting with the Option key. I resstored the Mavericks partition. Waited forever for it to erun its course. It seemed to work. THe reinstall seemed to be effected and the computer restarted, as it should. And then: gray screen, gray logo, spinning spokes. I let it go for a good hour in hopes it was just trting to gain its footing, but no. Dead.
I'm back now in 10.8.5 Land again. I can open the Mavericks partition. Stuff's still in there. Looks fairly normal except the User folder has my Mavericks User as well as my old Mountain Lion User which strikes me as odd. SHouldn't things have migrated to and identified as part of my new identity?
I don't even know what to ask at this point other than: I prolly have to start process this all over again, don't I?
    alan b

You probably solved this by now, but I just had the same issue. But here's my 2 cents.
I had the same problem migrating from a MacBook purchased 8/2007 to a brand new MacBook purchased 8/2008. The old MacBook originally ran Tiger, but was running Leopard since Spring '08 with no issues.
Typing the account password worked fine. But after login, it acted as if the NumLock Key was on. I'm positive that the keys on the right side that have the little gray numbers on the older MacBook (U,I,O, J,K,L, etc.) responded at first. The new MacBook doesn't have the little numbers and does not have "NumLock" on the F6 key. Pressing the F6 made no difference.
The fix was to go to the Universal Access, Mouse & Trackpad tab and click Mouse Keys off (or press the option key 5 times). I checked the old UA prefs on the old MacBook and Mouse Keys was on also, but the keyboard worked fine. I suspect the newer keyboard has a different configuration since the function key presets across he top are different than the older MacBook (Exposé, Dashboard, Rewind, Play/Pause, FForward, etc.). Turning Mouse Keys back on makes the keyboard non-functional except for the arrow keys, delete key and the Function keys. I can't explain it but it's working fine now.
The archived Discussion pointed me to the fix:

  • ChaRM migration to New Solman System

    Hi,
We are planning to Migrate old Solman system ChaRM to new Solman ChaRM.
Now how can I migrate RFCs & CDs to new Solman system ChaRM.
    Regards
    P K

    Hi PK
There is no tool for moving the SLFN documents from one solman to the other. The only option to keep the already created tickets is to upgrade the the existing solman system to release 7.1.
In SOlman 7.1 SM* transaction types are comming so during the upgrade we don´t make any changes to the old transaction types like SLFN, so the upgrade should not change your current configuration in solman 7.0 for incident management.
You will not have any impact on Service Desk when using the old transaction type SLFN.
So there can be only one recommendation for your situation:
Perform an UPGRADE and please don't go for a fresh installation with data migration afterwards.
There is no easy transfer of CRM document (as incidents, change requests, issues, top issues, ...) available.
    Advantages of the upgrade:
    - standard procedure
    - configuration and data is available after the upgrade
The solman 7.1 is coming with new transaction types that you need to customizing  and it is not touching the old transaction types existing in solman 7.0.

  • Can Planning V4.02 be migrated / upgraded to Planning System 11.1.1.1 ?

    Hello,
I was wondering if it possible to migrate a Planning v4.02 application over to Planning System 11.1.1.1 and if there is any documenation that can support this question. I see other threads that discuss upgrading from S9 to S11 but not don't see any discussion on v4.02.
    Thank you,
    Tony

    Hi John,
Sorry to re-hash this old thread, but, shouldn't i be able to follow your instructions below to migrate from System 9.3.1 to System 11.1.1.1 ? Or am i missing something here.... This worked great from Version 4.02 to System 9.3.1.
    1. Create a fresh planning application on version 9.3.0 make sure the admin is the same name as your old 3.5.1 planning app
    2. Go into the oracle tables for the planning app and look at table HSP_USERS, store the SID value against user 50001
    3. Go into the oracle planning system tables and HSPSYS_APPLICATION, clear out the version field for the application in question.
    4. Stop Planning
    5. Drop your 9.3.0 Planning App schema and Copy your old 3.5.1 planning oracle schema into the same locatiion
    6. Go into the HSP_USERS table and update the SID for user id 50001
    7. Start planning
    8. Go to planning web and you should see your application when you try and log in it should take you to a migrate screen.
    Thanks

  • Help with data migration- Balances from legacy system for Loans Management

    Hi all,
Can someone please help with this. I need help in how to go about migrating legacy data and balances for loans to SAP FS-CML.
Which flow types to use, and to do the migration.
    Thanks.
    Fisayo.

    Hi Fisayo,
good documentation you can find in the transaction KCLJ
    => Help => Application help.
You also can find some documentation in the IMG:
    => Loans Management
      => Tools
        => External Data Transfer
          => Transfer Categories
=> Loans Master Data and Conditions
             => Loans Flow Data
You could use transaction KCLJ to upload the existing  flows. For this you need a sender file with the flows you want to  upload. This file you can create manually or by a report in the old/legacy system that writes the file in your file system.
The sender structure must be defined in transaction KCLL and you could use transaction KCLT to create or change a file to test the upload program.
You will also find some information in the online documentation.
Please be aware that the upload of flows must be tested very exactly. Iif you take over 'wrong' flows, this could cause serious problems in the future when you work with the contracts.
    Best regards,
    Tomislav
