Hi
I successfully migrated the HFM application 9.2.1 to 11.1.1.4. then i want to migrate the shared services users and group... more than 50 users are there in the shared services..
so please advice me what are the step i follow to migrate the shared services users

It might be easier just to recreate the 50 users.
However, the approach is to use the CSSImport/Export tool to extract the users/provisioning from 9.2
The output format would be .csv files
Then in the new 11 system you can do an LCM export of Foundation (users,groups, assigned roles) with a couple of test users provisioned to HFM.
The LCM tool for provisioning and users is basically the CSSImport/Export tool wrapped into a web interface.
Compare the output of both the 9.2 and the 11 , they should be similar.
Manipulate the 9.2 content to fit the new 11 format and try to LCM import...

Hi Rick,
I think what you are referring to is the "Save Migration Definition" button in LCM within the Shared Services web.
Basically, any thing that you do within Shared Services LCM utility (GUI) can be saved to .xml file for reusing the migration properties another time.

LCM Migration - Instance name? Shared services project Name ? Data source?

Situation
* We have hyperion 11.1.1.3.24
* Objective - trying to perform a LCM file-migration from our DEV environment to UAT
* DEV has only one PMA enabled Planning Application (“budget”), few FR reports & other related artifacts.
So far
* Successfully Exported these 4 (EPMA, Shared-services, Planning & FR) from our DEV
* When trying to import EPMA into our UAT, noticed the status shows Failed. (Noticed Similar claims have been reported in other posts as well.)
Another dilemma that I have it what should I enter on these Instance Name, Shared services Project name & Data source.
* Instance Name ===> ? Not sure. how to find this?
* Shared services project ===> Haven't created one at all. So, which one should I use OR how to find this out ?
* Data Source ===> I guess, this would be the EPMA repository database name ?
Although I can Migrate all the Artifacts into our UAT (as identical to our DEV), Migration status has shown as "Failed". Is this because of the fact I skipped the Destination options with blank values (for Instance, shared-services & data-source). Has anyone ever had success on this Migration step.
OR Should I disregard this migration status, just because we can see all identical artifacts in our UAT.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you log into EPMA and pick an application and select deploy (don't worry you don't have to deploy you can cancel it before you do so),
it will display a popup which will have the
Instance Name (usually default), Shared Services Project (drop down will display different application groups available), Data Source (this is the name you gave when you created the datasource for the application)

Migrating Filters through Hyperion Shared Services

Hii, I have users defined on HSS 9.3.1 & I need to upgrade those to 9.3.3. I have some filters defined on the user as well.
When I upgrade these users to 9.3.3 using CSSImportExportutility, I am not able to migrate the filters defined on the applications....
How will I be able to migrate these filters to the newer HSS.

Yes but I think Advance Security Manager works for Essbase itself not for Shared services. What I mean by that is when I apply filter using Advance Security Manager, it will be reflected in EAS Console... Then what will I do to get those filters reflected in Hyperion Shared services because then if I would want to modify filters Iusing HSS... Because now my users will be externalized...

Migrating essbase application through shared services

This is a question that has been asked many times and with a little research you will have all the info you need.
As you mention Shared Services I take it you are wanting to use LCM, if so then it should be pretty easy and just read through - About Lifecycle Management
Or have a look at First-Time Lifecycle Management Migration for Essbase 11.1.1 with Shared Services Lifecycle Management 11.1.1 it is based on an older version but you get the idea.
You can even go to your favourite internet search engine and type LCM essbase and you should get lots of information to look through.
Alternatively you could user the EAS migration wizard - Migration Wizard and then you will need to export/import the data either through EAS or Maxl.

Issue in Shared Services with corp user IDs

Hi,
I am facing an issue with corp user IDs in Shared Services. The issue is that I am able to add corp user IDs to a group but I am not able to remove some of them from the group for some reason especially those corp user IDs that were added few weeks or months ago.
What I noticed is if I add a corp user ID today and try to remove it today itself it is letting me do it but those corp IDs that I added to the group weeks before it is not letting me remove them. I tried to push the corp user ID from right hand side to the left hand side and then saved the changes. It shows the message that the group has been modified but when I go back again and check in the group I find the user there on the right side where it shows all user members. Not sure why this is happening.
Any ideas on this? Please do share your inputs.

Well, I think I tried at both the places yet I am facing the same issue. If I add any corp user now and immediately take it off in minutes it lets me do it. But if I try to take out a user who was added to the group weeks ago it is just not letting me do it. It does give the messages that the gourp has been modified but when I come back again and look at the group its there.
Its weird and I am not sure whats going wrong. Is it some kind of a bug?

Problem assigning Essbase Security filters in Shared Services

We recently upgraded Planning/Essbase to System 9 version 931 in Test. Everything went smoothly except for few users Security didn't migrate properly.
In Shared Services, it shows that user has access to Planning & Native Essbase Applications. But in Essbase, only Planning Application access is shown.
Also when I try to apply security filters for these users in Native Essbase Applications (in Shared Services), I don't see these particular users.
There is no problem with Planning security, except when I refresh Security from Shared Services in Analytic Admin Console it wipes out Planning Application access in Essbase.
For other users there are no issues. Only for few users this is the problem. I have tried to deprovision user & provision back, but no use.
Please Help

Essbase/Planning security is multi tiered. In Shared Services you setup your groups. You provision your groups with adequate security access. Depending on whether you have updated a cetain .css file(to fix bug) you may have to assign the read, write calc access to the group not just calc, but all three if your users need the access to actually, read, write & calc. of need user to just read & write etc... then you have to go to EAS refresh, run maxl script to assign environment access to user, go back to shared services go into projects assign any needed access to calc & filter groups and essbase is setup. For planning you also have to go to workspace and migrate identities within the security setup for any of your dimensions. this comes into play when adding or removing users as filters are created in planning workspace. I just learned this from one good tech that helped me setup & remove users as I had issues getting them in and out of the system..Now to move on to actually getting security reports that make sense for planning with the associated access. If anyone has the maxl code let me know.

Hyperion shared services !

I am working on hyperion shared services 9.3.1 version.
Can you any one tell me how to assign the database calculation & filter access in shared services.
What i have did is,
I have created the 3 users in essbase & migrated those users into shared service mode & also register all applications to shared services as well.
All applications are reflecting under analytic servers also.
I have given the Here is some of the roles specific to Essbase in Shared Services.
Server Roles (Administrator, Create/Delete App, Server Access)
Application Roles (App Manager, DB Manager, Start/Stop Application, Calc, Write, Filter and Read Roles.
Poblem is i am not able to assign the database calculation & filter access in shared services.
Please,please could any one guide me ...

It is super non-intuitive. I mostly work in Planning (which handles all of this behind the scenes) and when I, alas, infrequently get to use real, honest-to-goodness Essbase I have to relearn this. It never seems natural.
You'd think after relearning it three or four times, I'd get it, but nope, it's just "weird".

Issue externalizing the Essbase security to shared services

Guys,
I am facing an issue while externalizing the security to shared services in Hyperion Essbase 9.3.1. When i tried to externalize the users in Essbase 9.3.1, i am getting the error
"Error: 1051400: Analytic Services has already been migrated to Shared Services Mode". But i dont see any options when i right click on the security tab. i am seeing the same options
as we have before migrating to shared services like Externalize Users. Also when i tried to create a user in Essbase, it is giving the following error msg.
"Error: 1051484 Cannot change CSS Authenticated User to Another Authentication Type After successfully migrating that user to Shared Services". Errors are showing my security is in shared
services mode. How i can test if it is really in shared services security mode.
One other thing is, when we installed Essbase, we used 'admin', 'password' as user credentials. Does these have anything to do, as i saw in one thread that 'admin' is not recommended for Essbase while configuring shared services.

CSSimport.bat error: while migrating the Shared Services groups and users

Hi,
I am trying to migrate the shared services native users and group from 9.3.1(on server A) to 11.1.1.3(on server B)
- I have taken the export in CSV format from 9.3.1 using CSSexport.bat.(export.csv) -Successful.
- I have copied this on the 11.1.1.3 server and changed lil details like removing the admin user etc.
- When I am trying the import this on 11.1.1.3, I am getting the below error:

- There are not log or error files geting generated - The only error recieved , is given above.
- I have made the necessary changes to the impotexport.properties file on 11.1.1.3 before starting the CSSimport utility.
Can you please let meknow what should I do to overcome this error.

First thing I would try would be on the 11.1.1.3, try and run an export, if it works then run the import on the same file, this way you will make sure you have the version 11 utility working.
Once you have done that then you can move on to the 9.3.1 export file.

Migrating shared services registry from version 9 to version 11.1.1.3

I'm currently doing a migration of Hyperion Shared Services from version 9.3 to version 11.1.1.3 on different servers. Right now, I have imported the users, groups, and the roles from version 9 to version 11, but I'm having troubles migrating its registry.

You may possibly get by using LifeCycle Managment. Have you tried that?

You may have to tweak the resulting output files a bit for version 9 vs 11 but this would give you a good starting place.

Migration and Shared Services

Currently thinking about migrating two cubes: one in version 6 and one in version 7 to 11.1.2. Here are the steps I am considering following:
- Recreated the applications in EAS version 11.1.2.
- Copy over .otl, .rul, .csc etc files.
- The .cfg files in 11.1.2 - not sure what to do about this one. Do they have to be the same as in the previous versions? What do I do about the configuration settings that have changed from the old versions to new versions.
- Security. Version 6 and 7 dont have shared services. So does security have to be recreated from scratch?
I found a wealth of info on migrations on these forums, but these two particular questions evaded me.

Failing that you could look at extracting the security information using maxl/esscmd then pushing it into 11.1.2 using maxl or LCM

Shared Services Security during LCM migration in 11.1.2.1

I am migrating a Planning app from 1 environment to another.
I vaguely remember ( from some presentation) that once I export Shared service security I need to modify the file to reflect the correct Essbase server name and than import the Shared service security file.
Is this a mandatory step ? If yes which file should I modify ? Is it just listing.xml or any other file as well ?

If you run an export of provisioning then for essbase you should by default see something like "EssbaseCluster-1", if your target environment is configured in the same way it should also be "EssbaseCluster-1" and you will not need to edit any files.
If you don't start marking your posts I am not going to reply to any of your questions in future, hopefully everybody else will take that stance seeing as you have so many unresolved questions.

hello, I'm using the CSSExport.bat for migrating Shared Service.
from dos launch the CSSExport.bat , the file importexport is on the same directory, E: \ hyperion \ common \ utilities \ CssImportExportUtility \ cssimportexport \ importexport
CSSExport.bat importexport.propertiesbut there is a error:
"the system cannot find the path specified"

E:\hyperion\common\utilities\CssImportExportUtility\cssimportexport\importexport\CSSExport.bat E:\hyperion\common\utilities\CssImportExportUtility\cssimportexport\importexport\importexport.properties
produces the same error then it points to a problem in the importexport.properties file, have you made sure that all the directory paths in that file are correct, such as importexport.css=file:/.....
