  • Migrating to Oracle Reports 6i from Oracle Report 9i

    Hi all,
We re-compiled original Forms & Reports 6i source code with Oracle 9i Forms & Reports.
Forms are working really nice with almost no change at all with Oracle 9ias Forms services and Oracle 8i as db. The Oracle 9ias server is W2k. Will be upgrading to oracle 9i db in a short time.
The only change we applied to forms source code was the function to call reports. We are using WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT() instead of RUN_PRODUCT.
i.e. the URl is formed in all reports as
    http://ip_address:port/reports/rwservlet?DESTYPE=cache&DESFORMAT=PDF&userid=user/passwd@dbname&report=f:\web\formas\ametas\REP_DET_METAS_DPTO.REP&estrategia_par='08'&centro_par=249&depto_par=27100&anio_par=2003&TRIMESTRE_PAR=1
At the beginning we used directly the 6i reports but they were running inconsistently, after several calls to reports they got stock and we did need to reboot report services.
Then as a suggestion we re-build only two reports in reports 9i for testing. But same result when running in combination with 6i reports. Combination means, sometimes called 6i reports someothers reports in 9i.
The reports run fine several times but inconsistently. What I mean is that they can be running normaly many times and suddenly the reports server sends this message
    REP-50002:Server is shutting down
DBA reported this issue to our local support but they said configuration is ok.
In other tests and only running 9i reports it seems not getting stock never, at least we run two 9i reports more than 40 times. So the problem seems to be when we run 9i reports in combination with 6i reports. We are planning to migrate all our reports but this mean to rebuild all reports again.
Is someone facing this kind of problem?
Or is this the only solution? Losting men/machine hours rebuilding the reports.
Any suggestion for my DBA to check in configuration?

Sorry for the confusion the subject for this issue should be

  • Migrating Oracle Reports to Publisher in 11g

    Greetings!
We are developing a project with the purpose of migrating some Oracle Reports files to Oracle BI Publisher 11g. We know that there is a tool called BIPBatchConversion available in Bi Publisher 10.1.3.4.1 but I couldn't find this utility in Bi Publisher 11g.
Should I use this utility from Bi Publisher 10.1.3.4.1 and then migrate to Bi Publisher 11g or there is other option available?
    Thanks!
    Ramiro Ortíz.

    Hi Ramiro
    You got it right
    Oracle REports --> 10g BIP --> 11BP
There is a migration tool to take your 10g BIP reports to 11g BIP - I believe its covered in the user docs

  • Migration: Oracle reports 6i to 10g issue - Diiference in the data

    Gudmorning everybody,
We are doing a Oracle reports migration from oracle reports 6i to oracle reports 10g.
I am facing a problem in the output generated ny the reports.
I have to generate a CSV file in 6i and similarly in 10g. Both the reports are hitting the same database but still it is
showing some difference in the count generated in the report.
Its a report where it compares the data from the web and data from the application and gives a count for the each row.
In the CSV creation procedure TABLE TYPe is used. I am not very good in Oracle procedures.
Do u guys have faced similar situation? Not every data is different, some of the count is diff even though both the reports are hitting the same database.
Anybody suggest me a solution. It will b really helpful. This happens when I am a giving 6 mnths date range. When it is 15 days range it shows proper output.
Any help will be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Raneesh.

    Hello,

  • Oracle Reports - XMLP

Is there some way to migrate my Oracle reports to XMLP? We have a number of reports that the users hate the current layout and would like to open them in MS-Excel. Converting each one to XMLP by hand would make me an excellent candidate for CTS.
    Any help?

If you have Oracle Reports 10g:
You can use the desformat=SPREADSHEET (Command line only) The report output is sent to an HTML file that is compatible with spreadsheet applications, such as Microsoft Excel. You can generate spreadsheet output from the paper layout of reports saved in any format (rdf, jsp, xml)
Like Oracle Reports the BI Publisher isn't able to generate generate pure Excel. They generate HTML and name the files .xls! If you open these pseudo-XLS-files Excel renders the HTML with a lot of bugs in the ouput. It's nightmare!

  • HTML font size in Oracle Reports 11g

I am migrating from Oracle Reports 10g in OAS to Reports 11g in WebLogic.
However when I display all changed reports using Web Browser (same), the font size is changed(comparing the 10g reports to 11g reports). I would like to keep unchanged.
    (command using DESTYPE=HTML)
May anybody can give me some guidance? (would like to see if there are any file or setting in EM which can alter the size of font in web)
    Thanks.

  • Oracle Reports 10g cgicmd.dat

    Hello!
We are migrating from oracle reports 6i to 10g. The URL before looked like this:
    http://localhost:7778/cgi-bin/rwcgi60.exe?ebib_dev+BibArve.rep+44252
We use now rwservlet instead, thus the link is the following:
    http://localhost:7778/reports/rwservlet?ebib_dev+BibArve.rep+44252
The appropriate record in cgicmd.dat is:
    ebib_dev: report=%1 P1=%2 desformat=pdf destype=cache userid=user/passwd@MYDB
When executing the URL we get the following error:
    REP-110: File 'BibArve.rep=' not found.
REP-0110: Unable to open file 'BibArve.rep='.
Why this extra "=" appears? I have no idea :( I tried "&" instead of "+", same effect
    Please help!
    Thanks in advance,
    Andrei

    Andrei,
this is filed as bug 4671569
To work around this issue, use %* and add the parameters to the Reports URL
    e.g.
    http://localhost:7778/reports/rwservlet?ebib_dev&report=BibArve.rep...
    cgicmd.dat
    ebib_dev: desformat=pdf destype=cache userid=user/passwd@MYDB %*

  • Oracle reports 6i to Oracle forms 10g migration

    Hi,
I have .rdf files which were created on Oracle Reports 6i. I would like to migrate the .rdf files into Oracle Reports module which is present as a part of Oracle Forms 10g to generate PDF output.
Please let me know the detailed steps to be followed as I am a total newbie. Also I need to generate these reports on demand from a java 5 application (JSF 2.0).
Currently for ORacle reports 6i, I have the following code in my java application
    rwrun60.exe g:\tomcat33\webapps\reports\web-inf\src\null userid=***/*** destype=FILE desformat="pdf" paramform=NO printjob=NO batch=YES desname=temp.pdf
    1. What would be the equivalent for reports in ORacle Forms 10g ? I know there is an Oracle Apps server where ther report services reside. How to I invoke my report from my java application (residing on a weblogic server 10.3.6)?
    2. What ould I do with the 6i .rdf files to upgrade them to 10g ?

I am trying to call an Oracle report i.e .rdf (which is located on the Oracle  App Server) from my java EE 5 (JSF) application. The Oracle  App server is Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2. I assume Oracle report generation capability is available in this release.  I need to invoke the report from my Java JSF application on demand (whenever the user clicks a button on the web browser page, the report should appear on the browser as PDF) . My java application resides on Linux weblogic server.
Please let me know how it can be done ? I see rwclient.sh and another method to directly invoke using a URL. How do I do it on java, would a request.redirect() to the URL work ?
Also for hiding the params in the URL. keys need to be configured on the Oracle server right ?
Also if we use rwclient.sh or the URL based invocation, would there be any issue in concurrency when multiple users request the same report at the same time ?

  • Layout issue while trying Migrate Oracle Report to XML publisher Reports

    Hi
I am trying to Convert Seeded Oracle Reports (rdf) to BI Publisher reports, in doing so encounter layout issues. The layout of the RTF , PDF or HTML generated by BI Publisher is different form the text, PDF or HTML outputs generated by the concurrent report. The problem with the BI Publisher template and out put
Is, the lay out is getting distorted .
Steps to archive the migration :
    -     download the rdf from the server to local m/c.
    -     execute Forms 9i Util rwconverter to generate a xml
    -     use the oracle.apps.xdo.rdfparser.RTFTemplateGenerator API to generate a RTF template of the report layout
    -     Then use this template to generate a XSL via oracle.apps.xdo.template.RTFProcessor API
    -     The Apply the XSL on the XML data output of the report using oracle.apps.xdo.template.FOProcessor to generate RTF , PDF & HTML files.
Name of the Report used for migration “FSG - Report Detail Listing” , responsibility GL super User. This was just a random report we picked-up for trial.
The layout of these files seems to distorted than the layout of the original report output as generated by the rdf report.
Pls suggest some means to resolve this or any pointers towards what causing this could be of help.
    -     Shudipto

The process of "converting" an old Oracle Reports rdf into a BIP report is more akin to writing a brand new report in BIP than to what most people would consider a true conversion.
The conversion routine outlined by Oracle just gives you a starting point for converting RDF layouts into BIP, and nothing more. In regards to the data define it does somewhat better generating your queries and XML layout (but honestly, that is the easy part), but even for the data define it will lose your formula columns as well as report triggers.
I have used the converter on several dozen rdf files and I have yet to see one that is better than 10-20% ready for use after the conversion process.
I would strongly suggest that you only convert the reports that you have to convert (for enhancements, modifications, etc). If it ain't broke in old Oracle Reports, dont' try to fix it in BIP.

  • Oracle 10g reports migration to Oracle 11g migration

I have migrated oracle 10g reports to Oracle 11g reports and generated REP file. But when we execute REP file using RWRUN.EXE I am getting below error.
    ERR REP-50125: rwbuilder.conf:java.lang.NullPointerException
    ERR java.lang.NullPointerException
to avoid this I tried below work arround which was posted in "https://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=2365028" URL. but not success.
    1. Go to C:\Oracle\Middleware\asinst_1\config\FRComponent\frcommon\tools\admin
    2. Make a backup of the file 'cauprefs.ora'
    3. Open up the file in a text editor:
    --In the file, look for:
    Reports.PluggableDataSourceFactories =
    ("oracle.reports.plugin.datasource.xmlpds.XMLDataSourceFactory",
    "oracle.reports.plugin.datasource.jdbcpds.JDBCDataSourceFactory",
    "oracle.reports.plugin.datasource.textpds.TextDataSourceFactory")
    --Replace the value to: Reports.PluggableDataSourceFactories = ()
    4. Save the file and try running Reports Builder again. Data Model should open up without crashing.
Could you please help me to resolve this issue.

When I use rwrun.bat report is not invoking i use below command line. I am executing rwrun.bat from C:\Oracle\Middleware\asinst_1\config\reports\bin path.
    rwrun.bat report="C:\Program Files\prnsrv\advices\01\bcacuchq.rep" userid=dbuserid/[email protected] desformat=pdf DESTYPE=file DESNAME="c:\temp\test.pdf" TRACEFILE="C:\TEMP\test.LOG" PRM_BRCH_CODE=781 PRM_PROD_CODE=BC PRM_PROD_REF_ID=BC11100142 PRM_ORDER_COL=DELIVERY_MODE PRM_CHQ_RPT=Y

    Hi,
I have few reports which have been created using the Microsoft Sql Server Reporting Services. Now i want to create similar reports using Oracle Reports 10g.

  • Migration steps in oracle reports and forms

    Hi,
I want to migrate oracle reports and oracle forms from its curent versions to 10G.
    current versions:
    Oracle Report : 2.5
    Oracle Forms : 4.5
    any help would be appreciated.....
    Thanks,

    Hi,
there is the forms upgrade center on OTN. There is a lot of information about upgrading of forms. ou can find it here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/htdocs/upgrade/index.html.
The way is (to my knowledge), go from 4.5 to 6i and then to 10g.
On the page you also find a link for Oracle Reports.
If you have more questions, I think you should ask your questions in the Forms Forum: Forms or in the Reports Forum: Reports There are the experts on the topic.
