Migration Options???

Im trying to migrate all my stuff from my imac to my new macbook. Ive tried connecting the two via a ethernet cable but is doesn't appear to work. I just get nowhere, after about two hours i get a message saying check your network connection etc.
Here is my set up...
Time capsule providing internet access situated downstairs.
iMac upstairs connected wirelessly
MacBook upstairs connected to the TC network.
Non of them have trouble connecting to the network.
So what is the best way to connect the two to migrate? The network will be far to slow, when connecting an ethernet cable the two dont appear to be connected & are as slow as trying to do it wirelessly. IS it possible to connect the two via USB? I dont have a USB portable drive so the suggestion of cloning the imac system & migrating it over is out of the question & am not sure how to do this. I suppose I could plug into the TC downstairs & migrate from TC backup but am not totally sure how to do this.
Any help much appreciated.

  • Hyper V Cluster Migration - Options

    Hello,
I have a Server 2012 4 node cluster that i need to migrate to new hardware along with all the VMs. The new hardware will be a 2 node Server 2012 R2 cluster. Can i please have some advice on my migration options? I am using iSCSi SAN storage but have limited
available to make available to the new cluster as it is all being used by the current one.
I was hoping I could add the host to the existing cluster but that does not appear to be the case. So i think my only options now would be to either use copy cluster roles wizard or import/export process, found here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn486792.aspx
If I use the copy cluster roles wizard should i setup the storage on the new hosts, as in make it available via iscsi initiator, before i create the cluster? I just have concerns about giving access to the same CSV storage that is currently live on the current
cluster. I am using SCVMM 2012 for management. Many Thanks. Carl.

Hi Alexey, thanks for your reply and sorry for my delay. I ended up setting up the new cluster, giving it some storage and live migrating the VMs - this was taking a long time so basically completed what you explained above - i used the copy cluster roles
wizard, turned off the VMs on the old cluster, bought the CSV online on the new cluster then turned the machines on. It was actually pretty much issue free which was a nice surprise. Yes there was also a chunk of downtime but luckily I managed to get approval.
    Thanks, Carl.

  • ORA-10827: database must be opened with MIGRATE option

    Hi,
We are trying to migrate an Oracle 8.1.7 database to an Oracle 9i(9.2) database. I moved all the database files to the appr folder and I created a new instance using:
oradim -new -sid PROD -intpwd Oracle -startmode a -pfile C:\oracle\OraDb\Neuropace\initPROD.ORA.
I checked the alter log file and I get the following error:
ORA-10827: database must be opened with MIGRATE option.
How should one go about migrating a database(different versions). I went ahead with the migration. I opened the database using
    alter database open resetlogs migrate.
But when i log into the database, I get an internal code error.
    Any pointers?.

You must not open normally your database after an upgrade, in short the method is
    1) startup migrate
    2) run the upgrade script (which one depends on your old database version)
    For step-by-step instructions see
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96530/upgrade.htm#1009200
'alter database open resetlogs migrate' is only applicable to upgrades from version 7 to 9.2, hopefully your database is not corrupted now.

  • Missing migration options in SQL Developer 3.1.07.42

I am using Oracle for the first time and so I downloaded Oracle Developer Days VM running in Virtual box. I need to migrate an SQL Server d/b into Oracle and so I started to use the SQL Developer application.
    The VM contains the following:
    Oracle Linux 5
Oracle Database 11g Release 2 Enterprise Edition
    Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database Cache
    Oracle XML DB
    Oracle SQL Developer
    Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler
    Oracle Application Express 4.1
    Oracle JDeveloper
I have downloaded and installed the SQL server java connector and I can connect to my SQL Server database, I can also create connections to the Oracle d/b.
But, I cannot find the database migration menu options when using Oracle SQL Developer 3.1.07.42, the migration menu options do no appear on the Tools menu or when right clicking a database connction.
Can anyone explain why the migration menu option is missing or how I could test the migration some other way ?
    Thanks

I have discovered that the migration facility is not included with the VM.
By opening the RPM for SQL Developer and copying the migration extensions into the SQL Developer folder, the migration menu options are now available.

  • Sap hana DATA MIGRATION OPTION

    Hello,
SUM can be started from browser and from OS level also by running "./DSUgui".
So , is there a way to start SUM with DMO option for HANA migration from OS level?
It is known that SUM with DMO can be started from the browser but we have lower level IE - does not support.
    URL : http://<hostname>:1128/lmsl/sumabap/SID/doc/gui/
    Expecting a reply.
    Thanks and regards,
    Udaya sankara charan.D.

    Hi,
For DMO option, you have to invoke the services through browser only. The reason being you need to create the SAPHostAgent Configuration file to start SUM. This configuration file contains the location of the SUM directory and the path to the SUMSTART.BAT files.
The SAP Host Agent in turn starts two SAPup services.
In a non DMO scenario, you do not maintain the configuration file and directly start the services. Hope this help.

  • Migration Option for Devices that Doesn't Meet Requirements

We have a Family MobileMe Pack and have an iMac with Snow Leopard. When I chose to move 2 accounts that the iMac uses to iCloud, I selected the option to "keep using your email after MobileMe ends" so that these accounts will still work on Mail for the iMac.
When I check the accounts under the Master account, these 2 accounts show (Remove Account) instead of (Migrated to iCloud) as is the case for my kids' accounts.
Now I'm confused as to whether these 2 accounts are really migrated or not. And I'm not sure I can move the Master account to iCloud before these 2 accounts have been migrated. I've read I cannot manage any of the family accounts anymore once the Master account moves to iCloud. But time is running out.
So confused. Any assistance is appreciated. Thanks.

If you have a Family Pack, each sub-account and the master account can be regarded as individual and separate for the purposes of the exercise. In each case all you have to do is go to http://me.com/move and follow the instructions, and it doesn't matter what order you do it in. Because of confusingly worded instructions from Apple some people have got the impression they have to cancel the sub-accounts first: do not do this.
If you migrate the master account first the others will continue to run: obviously what was the master account will not have any control over them nor be able to administer or delete them in the event it wanted to. If you migrate a sub-account while the master account is still running you can't create a new sub-account to fill the gap. Aliases will be maintained but unlike in the MobileMe Family Pack you cannot convert an alias to a full iCloud account.
Apple have provided a facility for MobileMe users whose computers don't meet the requirements to migrate their email only to iCloud. If you choose this option only your email will be migrated to iCloud. It's not entirely clear whether this takes place immediately or waits until July 1, but you can easily check by seeing whether your email is available at http://me.com or athttp://icloud.com - if the latter, the migration has taken place (give it time to take effect before checking).
On July 1 all other data on MobileMe will be deleted, but your email will be accessible at http://icloud.com.
Though Apple have not included this information, you will be able to set mail up manually to access your iCloud email by following the instructions on these pages:
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Tiger
Apple have not stated what will happen if you do not follow this process. It seems safe to assume that in that case your emails will be deleted and you will lose the account.

  • Different migration options with OWB.

    Hi there,
We are very new to Oracle Warehouse Builder (OWB) version 10.2.0.3. We are Oracle E-Business Suite users. We will be loading data into 10gOLAP cubes via Analytical Workspace Manager and will be using Discoverer for OLAP for reporting.
We are considering various options with OWB migration from DEV -> UAT -> PROD.
Our current thinking is to install OWB in our DEV environment only. PL/SQL packages that are generated in DEV and tested will be migrated to UAT for execution.
Results of the execution of the PL/SQL packages in UAT will be subjected to users testing. Upon successful UAT testing by the users, we then migrate the PL/SQL code to PROD for execution.
What are the short comings of the above arrangement as compare to installing OWB on all three environments.
Also what are the benefits of using Workflow Manager as compared to using concurrent manager to submit our OWB PL/SQL packages?
Please share your thoughts on the above.
    Thank you in advance

Sorry, but as you deduced, you cannot use branching in tests.
A test is expected to be a linear progression of slides,
where all scored slides have answers. If the user never sees some
    questions, they cannot get 100%.
You might want to submit a feature request to specify that
only answered questions be evaluated when determining quiz passing
(or whatever terminology best fits what you'd like to see).

  • Questions on SSRS migration options.

Greetings. I've done some googling and still have some questions on SSRS migrations.
I need to migrate three windows 2003/ 2005 SSRS instances to a windows 2008R2/ SSRS 2012 instance.
I was eyeballing the Installation Wizard referenced
here. Per this doc, this is quite possible:
Editions and Versions You can upgrade
SQL Server 2012 Setup provides upgrade support for the following earlier editions of Reporting Services:
    SQL Server 2012.
SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services SP4………..
Note that this doc doesn’t mention anything about OS specific versions.
This doc also mentioned running the Upgrade Advisor, which I was planning on doing. However, before doing this I then stumbled upon
    this doc, which clearly states:
Prerequisites for installing and running Upgrade Advisor are as follows:
    Windows Vista SP1, or SP2, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.
So the way it looks is that I can do the actual upgrade using the Installation Wizard, but I can’t run the Upgrade Advisor due to the OS being 2003. This seems odd.
Can someone please confirm/ deny this?
    Thanks in advance! ChrisRDBA

You could run the 2008 R2 version...
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms144256(v=sql.105).aspx
The differences between 2008 R2 and 2012 are relatively minor, in fact, they look exactly the same...  I agree with you though, the 2012 should work...

  • Problem signing AIR application using migrate option

    I have a pkcs12 certificate (certificate.p12) which expired on 2014-09-16.
Looking at Adobe AIR * Signing an updated version of an AIR application it should be in range of the 180 days/365 days after expiration, so it should be usable to sign for migration purposes.
    But using it like this:
    adt -migrate -storetype pkcs12 -keystore certificate.p12 test.air migrated_test.air
    Produces the following error:
The signer's certificate chain contains a revoked certificate
    Questions:
    a) Does anybody have an idea what the problem could be or possible solutions?
    b) Is the error-message really caused by the expiration of the certificate, or would that error message be different, like for example: The signer's certificate chain contains an expired certificate?
    c) My thinking in b) is in regard to that the certificate was issued by TC TrustCenter GmbH which no longer issues certificates. Could this be the cause here?

Okay, i just learned further infos. It really seems to be the case that the certification entries of TC TrustCenter GmbH were set to revoked state.
Wahy was that done, should they be allowed to do this at this time?
Can i still somehow do the migration?

  • Broadband Talk Migration Options

Apologies if this already exists (I have spent 20 mins searching the fora - honestly!).
Our [local geographic] Broadband Talk number has been our main published contact for a number of years, and with the planned demise of Talk we need to migrate to a new service now, rather than in a panic at the end of the year. The sort of thing I think we are looking for is a FAQ for topics suchs as:
    Alternative Service Providers
Transfering Number [hopefully without interruption of service]
Use of BT equipment [HH 2 and handsets] with alternative service
Use of mobile Apps / phones with VOIP
...and probably other stuff we won't have thought of until we try to do it.
If this FAQ already exists, would be grateful if someone could point us to it.
    TIA

@Keith - apart from the unnecessary disruption (it's not just F&F who call us and have our telephone number recorded) and the fact that my Aged Pater uses (and has for 50+ years)  the landline number, you are overlooking the main feature of VOIP - portability.
At present (using the SIPDroid App)  I can pick up incoming calls on my mobile wherever I have decent 3G or WiFi - and using BT BB Talk's primitive virtual exchange, I can forward calls to any other number when away for a period.
Theoretically, changing VOIP provider should be relatively easy - though there are potential pitfalls, and it would be good to hear from someone who has already been through the process.
(And since it is BT who are arbitrarily withdrawing a service, it might have been good PR to have offered a migration path voluntarily?)

  • DFS Storage migration options

    Hi all,
I am working with a customer who currently has an active/passive DFS physical cluster running on Windows 2008 R2. They do not use DFSR at this point as they are using their SAN to do block replication at the back end.
I have been asked to assist them in providing options to change their back end storage vendor with the least downtime possible.
The following are my thoughts and I appreciate any comments or better suggestions!
    Option 1
If I disable the passive nodes and enable DFSR on the cluster (then the data being replicated to the passive side is only known of by the SAN and not the cluster itself) I can then add a new node and attach the new storage to this node. Once replicated i
can then recreate the cluster pointing to just this node.
    Option 2
This option is to simply attach the new storage to the current cluster and use something like Quest Secure Copy to copy the data, structure, permissions and shares to the new drive. I can then reconfigure the shares to be active on the new drive. This could
have some downtime while shares are being reconfigured, and there is a high likelihood that there is more than 50TB of data to be moved here.
    Option 3
This option is very simply to do a full backup, take the current SAN storage offline then restore the backup to the newly attached storage drive. The downtime here is likely to be higher for this option.
So what is the best plan here, I'm thinking that the DFS method would be but is it as simple as enabling DFSR on a current cluster?
Many thanks for any opinions in advance!
    Martin

    Hi Martin,
Actually in using DFSR it will still take a long time for replicating 50TB data. Also you need to add/remove nodes from/to the cluster.
I think option 2 should be easier. Share permissions are actually stored in registry key so after copying all files from old LUN to new one, assign the old drive letter to the new LUN and shares still still working since nodes are still the same.

  • Migrate Sharepoint Foundation 2010 to Sharepoint Foundation 2013

    Hello,
I wonder if there is any way to migrate the site collection from Sharepoint Foundation 2010  to Sharepoint Foundation 2013 SP1?
    thanks in advance:
    szabszi

    Hi szabszi,
The native SharePoint DB Attach Upgrade Method does allow you to pick and choose which site collections to upgrade after the DB has been attached (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/25125.sharepoint-2013-powershell-to-copy-or-update-list-items-across-sharepoint-sites-and-farms.aspx
There are also other software vendors that provide more robust migration options. My company, AvePoint, is one of them. You can use the url in my signature to visit our site.
Please Mark Answered if my reply solves your problem. Thanks!

  • Transferring iMac 27" to my Macbook Pro and not using Migration Assistant?

    Hello,
I have my new iMac all set up and used Migration Assistant from my old iMac but created a new user account when I first set up my iMac and chose the do not migrate option. I didn't have the right Firewire cord so had to use Migration Assistant to transfer over after I was all set up with internet.
My new iMac is all up and running and I'd like to now migrate all my files to my Macbook Pro without doing it wirelessly (as it took over 24 hours to do last time). I'd like to transfer over files using my external hard drive.
elmac gave me some information in regards to another question which I edited here:
Hi, I use both TM & SuperDuper (2 different EHD's) I copy from SuperDuper (updated daily)(My Home Folder) iTunes you can enable sharing between computers and transfer that way..Photos from iPhoto Library..dragNdrop I use my Network, not as fast as FW..but easier on the mind. When I unpack my mac, I just set up with my email & Apple passwords..After that I repair Permissions then go about transferring.
Can I just transfer my home folder called Tuley from the main hard drive on my iMac to the user account section on my new Macbook Pro? Then I can transfer over the itunes folder etc.? I just want to make sure I'm doing this right.

Creating an account in System Preferences isn't the same as just putting a home folder into /Users/. The account needs to be created first.

    Yes.
