Migration OS Win2008 under EPM 11.1.2.0

Hi,
I'm using EPM 11.1.2.0 on OS MS Windows 2008 Standard Edition SP2 64 bit like a production environment. On this server I have: Foundation Services, OHS, Essbase, Planning, RA Framework, FinReporting and WebAnalysis Services.
This server hardware has been upgraded to 64 GB RAM. So, I need for upgrading OS edition to "Enterprise". I found this guide from Microsoft http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc755199%28WS.10%29.aspx#BKMK_Supported
I'd like:
1. To stop EPM services
2. Make images (backup) of drives
3. Check UAC and Firewall properties for disabled
4. Save IP address and Computer (server) name
5. Check DCOM Authentication level = Connect, Impersonation=Identify
6. Check IIS settings. It can be restored via re-deploy of Web Application Server after upgrading OS edition
7. Upgrade OS edition to "Enterprise"
8. Check all properties (3-6). Restore if it needs. Restart server
9. Start EPM services
10. Check that EPM works fine
Have you had experience of this upgrade? What problems might arise?

Check the validation logs present in MIDDLEWARE_HOME/user_projects/epmsystem1/diagnostics/logs/validation/
Please ensure you are able to access the link - http://Web server:port/awb/conf/AWBConfig.xml, where Web Server is the Web server machine host name and port is the Web server listen port.
If this step fails, check this URL: http(s)://bpma_server:bmpa_port/awb/conf/AwbConfig.xml.
* Check if you are able to access the URL: http(s)://Local_machine_name/hyperion-bpma-server/Sessions.asmx
If a Sessions page is displayed, then IIS is correctly configured.

I did a migration using a robocopy, to copy files and permissions to a new file server. More than 1 million of files, 800 GB of data
A´ve enabled data deduplication, with a 35% ratio.
All permissions are OK, but...
no one can open any files, MS Office files even PDF files
But regular text files and XML files are OK, i can be read by notepad/IE
CHKDSK shows no errors, it´s a PE R720, all drivers and firmwares updated
But the properties of the volume, shows only 17GB of files stored.
It´s a NTFS volume in a VM, hosted on a WIn2012R2, with RefS and the other 2 Vms are OK

Permissions are fine, so i´ve tried a chkdsk /r, but it will take more than 11 HOURS to complete, therefore i decide to shutdown the VM, delete the .VHDX file, recreate a new one and replicate all files again.
I re-configured deduplciation and started a new robocopy, using the same parameters (it´s a .cmd batch file)
The replica does nto finished yet, it´s replicating 800GB, using na 100 mb/s link, so.. i´l wait
now:

Now, the used space is reportd like 567 GB, looks fine for me, maybe it was a severe ntfs curruption
I remember a similar (mine) problem in Win2012+ReFS, where there are several big files in the file system, someone deleted the files, but the free space was not reclaimed back, so, i had to do a chkdsk to free up, more than 500GB of free space.

No "select relationship" area under EPM member selector

According to SAP BPC 10.NW material, there should be a "select relationship" area under EPM member selector where you can define how to selection member. but I did not find it under our EPM member selector of EMP office add-on Excel. anybody know why?

I think you are checking under context member selector. Follow below steps to see the required option from member selector
Step 1: Create a report by using any of the following methods
**Creating reports using the EPM pane.
**Creating reports using the Report Editor.
**Creating reports directly in a sheet.
Step 2: Just click on any dimension wich has kept under either row or column axis
Then system would prompt you member selector window with "Selection Relationship", this member selector is different from context member selector.

It would be a good idea to specify the version you are using.
The general plan can be the following:
A. On source db:
1. Generate scripts for the tablespaces where the schema you want to export has segments (again use toad or ther tools)
2.Generate scripts for the schema you want to export (use toad, dbms_metadata or other tools)
3. Generate scripts for system grants, system roles, privileges you have on objects owned by sys, system, quotas on tablespaces
4. If the schema has grants on sys objects that are not part of the default oracle install but were created later and are specific to that particular db (not a good practice, but it can hapen) and your application is dependent on them, generate scripts for them also (I have come across types owned by sys, when migrating an application with Websphere AS)
5. export schema using exp owner=<SCHEMA_NAME>
6. generate scripts for public synonyms and grants to public on object schema
B. On target db.
1. create tablespaces with generated scripts from A.1.
2. create schema with generated scripts from A.2.
3. grant all privileges from A.3.
4. if non default objects on sys needed, create them with scripts from A.4., grant privileges on these objects
5. imp with option fromuser=<SCHEMA_NAME> touser=<SCHEMA_NAME>
6. create public synonyms, grants from A.6.
7. check jobs - if you import with sys or system user, jobs will be imported under this users; drop jobs nad recreate jobs under your schema

How to manually migrate user data under Mountain Lion?

I want to manually migrate my user data from a cloned back-up to my iMac after a clean install of Mountain Lion. I do not want to use Migration Assistant because of the probabily of re-importing some of the problems I'm trying to fix. (This is at the tail end of a long trouble shooting process trying to fix a very very slow computer aftere a ML upgrade from Lion. Clean install of ML is a last resort)
There used to be an excellent list by Kappy (I think) on this sort of migration under earlier systems and from PPC to Intel. But that link seems to have been taken down.
We plan to reinstall all software from scratch after the clean install, so that is not an issue. And I know how to move the normal files in documents, music and the like. I am most concerned about are:
• Making sure I move the right files/folders in the Library related to Apple apps like iTunes, iPhoto, Address Book, Calendar, iWork apps, iPhone backups, etc. plus system/network settings.
• Are there other specific files/folders necessary due to iCloud that are new to Mountain Lion that need moved?
• How to do this in a way that ensures that all permissions will be OK under the new user?
The goal is a new fresh user on a clean fresh ML install that is identical to the current user in name, function and above all, permissions.
Can anyone provide a list of the main files/folders necessary to transfer ideally along the lines of Kappy's earlier and excellent guide?

So long as you use iCloud for Mail, Contacts and Calendars, run software update(s) after installing each app, they will build new preference files for themselves. iTunes will back up the phone too. System settings are likely to change. I found the firewall off and energy saver preferences default. Trackpad options for tap to click and drag lock may change.
Some of the updates are quite large so it takes a few hours and you need any purchase key codes handy for re-registration of software.

Migration from forms under unix

I want to transport my oracle database 6, Oracle Forms and Oracle Report from Unix operating System to Windows NT.

Other people can help you with the database conversion, but I believe that an export and then an import will get you going.
For the Forms, just FTP the FMBs to the NT then regenerate them into FMX, same for PLLs, MMBs, etc. Have a look at the help topic "Upgrading from a Previous Release", you may want to use the FORMS60_DEFAULTFONT if the screen fonts look strange.
For the reports, you may have to change uifont.ali in c:\orant\tools\common60 to get the correct fonts for NT. I also set ALL reports to have PDF output. This gets around the portrait / landscape printing problem. Reports will NOT reset the orientation of NT printers, Abode PostScript WILL reset the orientation. Also the user can 'resize' the report on printing. You can also read emailed PDFs more easily than the standard ReportWriter output.

Migrating Assets Under Construction?

A customer has many fixed assets that are currently under construction during a Go Live implementation. I realize ByD uses projects as a bit of a work around for handling assets under construction in the system, but what is the best way to handle the data-migration of these assets under construction in ByD? (along with the expenses/etc associated with these assets under construction)?

My understanding is that project balances cannot be migrated in ByD. We have been advised to manually key in all existing projects with budgets, sales orders etc. We are not sure what to do with existing project costs and invoices as historical data cannot be migrated either.
Since you suggested migrating the 'Assets under construction' as projects, I wonder if that is a special category? I was planning on using 'Direct Cost Project' process variant as suggested in the ByD help centre for 'Assets Under Construction'

Is it possible to take 2 time machine backups from 2 seperate MacBooks and migrate each backup to an iMac under separates user names?

I was sucessful migrating the first macbook to the imac under the first user name but I havent been able to get the second migration to happen under a second user name on the imac. Is this possible? can you only use migration assistant once or should it work?

Yes, you can do that.
If the second set of backups has a user account with the exact same short name (home folder name) as an existing one, you must rename one of them, per the last sample in the pink Transferring Accounts box of Using Migration Assistant on Lion.

Step 2: Export/Import Essbase data using EAS/Maxl Script – seems OK
Q1: we have option of essbase data under essbase node while migrate essbase application/Database using LCM, Why can't we just migrate Planning data using LCM itself?

We are going to start a new project, where the client already has EPM add in for Microsoft 7.5. We need to migrate this system to EPM add in for Net Weaver 10.0. When we would testing systems we need to have on the one local PC 2 products :EPM add in for Microsoft 7.5 and EPM add in for Net Weaver 10.0 to compare results. Is it possible to use them parallel? Is there any SAP documents or official materials where is information about this situation.

I solve my problem with a virtual machine, i use VMWare with BPC 7.5 version and host machine with BPC 10 Version.

I am new to the EPM systems migration (installed the fresh EPM 11.1.2.1 and 11.1.2.3) and we are planning to upgrade our existing environment from 11.1.2.1 to 11.1.2.3 and I am looking for the complete guide on how can I upgrade the environment. I searched for the tutorials but it's very confusing on the applying maintenance on the existing environment. Before I start I have created two sandbox (one for Foundation and one for Essbase) server to test the migration and successfully installed the EPM 11.1.2.1. I am going to configure the applications on these sandboxes and then test it. Once tested I am planning to do upgrade these sandboxes to 11.1.2.3 and will take the same steps to the existing production servers.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

I didn't said that SAP will not support your system, after the migration by Oracle data pump. I noted that OS/DB migration is performed by heterogenous system copy with the migration key.
Under this circumstance, if they accept to support you during the migration process with data pump, there's no problem. As I noted that previously, technically it is possible to migrate the system by using data pump, but I didn't requested that kind of support to SAP. I've been surprized to hear that they will support migration with Oracle data pump method. This is my own assestment.
Will they support you, if you face with a problem during the migration with data pump? Or some other problems you may be face after you go to productive, because of this migration?

Ingres migrations. There are legacy toolkits that
were developed in the field that provide aid in
the migration.
They are available on OTN within the Migration Workbench
section under "Migration Toolkits".

Presently the Workbench does not migrate from Informix,
however there are a series of script based tools that presently
exist that may be of help. They are available for download from
OTN, under the Migration Toolkits section under Migration
Workbench.

LCM migration error in Planing application

Hi,
I am trying to migrate 11.1.1.3 planning app from DEV to PROD env. Exported all the artifacts from DEV in the file. When I tried migrating only Dimensions (under Plan Type) in PROD. It came back with the following error.
Artifact_name = Account
Error = "Import failed for the following reason - Error parsing the deployement.xml"
None of the accounts members are loaded.
Can anyone please let me know, what could be the problem?

Hi,
Could you be using some XML key words in member names or aliases which might cause XML being not parsed correctly. I would try the following in the below order.
1. Validate application view
2. Search for double spaces, backslahes, double quotes, quotes, tabs, trailing spaces at the extracted xml file. Not exactly sure which one of these are reserved though.
3. Try to load the dimension without Alias.
4. Try to load the dimension in smaller chunks (needs editing the xml)
5. Try to load through .ads export rather than xml
However, I don't think there is a specific way to easily pinpoint the issue and above points just aim to narrow down the possible causes, so good luck!
