Migration plugin issues - MD_META package won't compile (9i)
I downloaded the SQL Server migration plugin yesterday and, after working through a few issues, finally got to the point where I could create a repository (in a new schema I named "MIGRATIONS") and connect to a SQL Server 2000 database. I selected a specific SQL Server DB, right mouse clicked, and selected "Capture Schema." It very quickly completed (about 2 seconds - too quickly for it to have actually captured anything), I clicked OK, and the Migration Log displayed the following message:
oracle.dbtools.metadata.persistence.PersistenceException: ORA-04098: trigger 'MIGRATIONS.MD_PROJECTS_TRG' is invalid and failed re-validation.
Upon closer inspection of the MIGRATIONS schema, I discovered several packages with red X's (e.g., MD_META). When I try to compile them, I get the following errors:
Error(1): PLS-00908: The stored format of MD_META is not supported by this release
Error(22,2): PLS-00114: identifier 'O7PUTBAIFZKA3IHSJ5AC4ZXWYAWG41' too long
Error(22,2): PLS-00707: unsupported construct or internal error [2702]
FWIW, the version of Oracle we're using is 9i. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
I've read there is a patch with 9i wrappers about, but can't seem to find or locate it Can you point in a direction? I've already posted a message out onto the apex site.
Thanks for any assistance.

OWB_WORKSPACE_MANAGER Package - Won't Compile
Hello,
I have installed OWB11gR2 on a Linux Server. Got no errors during installation.
When trying to start the Control Center Service it would error out with Java exceptions.
After some research I discovered that the OWB_WORKSPACE_MANAGER package would not compile.
This is the error message: Error(1): PLS-00753: malformed or corrupted wrapped unit
Encrypted packages are great if they've been correctly formed ....
If there any way to fix this beside totally reinstalling OWB and hoping it will be OK?
Thanks,

I've generated my DDL from Designer and created my tables fine. I generate the Table API and the packages created are invalid - I run the headstart recompile script but this does nothing - they all remain invalid. I've created an application before but have not had this problem. Any suggestions??
Thanks in advance. It sounds like you're running into a known oddity with the TAPI generator. (I say 'oddity' because it's not really a bug.)
Designer uses a storred database package, CG$ERRORS, for handling errors from the TAPI. Headstart provides a custom version of this package, owned by the Headstart template package owner HST65.
If you generate the TAPI and choose to generate to a script (rather than the database), Designer adds two lines to the beginning of the generated TAPI script which adds the default Designer version of CG$ERRORS to whatever schema you are logged into when you run the script. When you run that script, the first statement will fail, as it tries to create a package spec with a name that has already been used (usually as a synonym pointing to HST65.CG$ERRORS). The second statement will create the package body which will not compile. So, you end up with an uncompiled package body in the current schema, and this is the culprit. You need to delete this package body so that you will revert to using the Headstart version of CG$ERRORS.
This is all documented in the Headstart User Guide if you want some more details. It also contains a suggestion on how to prevent this problem from recurring.

[SOLVED] ruby-panelapplet2 won't compile (i686 & x86_64)
Hi!
I already wrote forum post in 64 bit section, but today I got to i686 machine and the error is the same, that damned package won't compile
Can anyone help getting this compiled? Any hints?
Errors are as follows:
Package 'glipper' has no Name: field

checking for rb_define_alloc_func() in ruby.h... yes
checking for rb_block_proc() in ruby.h... yes

That is driving me crazy, coz I can't get SSHMenu work properly and that is one of the tools I use all the time
If someone has that package in x86_64, please send that to me (edzis123[@]inbox.lv). Please remove all numbers and brackets from there
If the package is not available, alternate way is sending the files in the package, I suppose these should be like this (I took sample from i686):
/usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.9.1/panelapplet2.rb
/usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.9.1/x86_64-linux/panelapplet2_main.so
/usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.9.1/x86_64-linux/panelapplet2.so
Thanx in advance.
Last edited by Kirurgs (2010-02-21 21:32:26)Hi!
After spending quite a lot of time on this, I found the error why I couldn't compile almost any of ruby packages including ruby-gnomepanel2.
To my big surprise, pacman -R glipper fixed the issue and I'm now using sshmenu w/o any issues.
Ruby seems to broke if some additional (possibly incorrect) packages are installed, which it shouldn't!! Uff...

Hi,
I'm trying to migrate my application from JDev 11.1.1.0.2 to 11.1.2.2.0 but even after Jdev migrate to new version, the application won't compile correct. Seems that some classes wont recognize dependecies from other package. If i have a class in Web that import a class from Model, in compile time the console give me this kind a error: "package 'xxx.yyy.www' does not exist". If i open any class that gave me this error there isn't any warning or red line showing errors, in the line of the import i can use Ctrl + right click and go to the class without problems. The dependecies between projects (web, model and ejb) are correct. I dont know what is, any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Alexandre Rocco.Hi
I am facing the same problem when migrating from JDev 11.1.1.4.0 to JDev 11.1.2.2.0. Any idea?

Hi,
Adobe Flash IDE: Adobe Flash CS3 Professional and Adobe Flash Professional CS5
I am facing some migration/compatibility issues between Adobe Flash CS3 Professional and Adobe Flash Professional CS5:
I am working on a project that has been completely developed in CS3 earlier. When I am using CS5 (Flash Player 9 / Flash Player 10) to compile the FLA files, it is creating some new issues like some customized radio buttons are getting disappeared while viewing the SWF on a web page etc.
So, I would like to know:
1) Is there any migration/compatibility issue between Adobe Flash CS3 Professional and Adobe Flash Professional CS5?
2) If yes: Is there any patch available from Adobe for it?
3) If no: What could be the causes and the best possible solutions for it?
Any help and support would be highly appreciated. Many thanks in advance!
Thanks & Regards
AmitApparently some people have issues, but I don't think it is across the board. Here's a link to another recent posting that may or may not prove helpful to you...

client.binary();
client.cd("Composites");
tis = client.list();
client.get("filename");
client.delete("filename");
This is roughly how it is. Without the last line, it compiles and runs fine. But when I add the client.delete line, it won't compile and gives this error:
ImageTransfer.java:229: cannot resolve symbol
symbol : method delete (java.lang.String)
location: class sun.net.ftp.FtpClient
client.delete("filename");
Please help!
- LoganYes. The class you should be importing is, obviously, FTPClient. But don't waste your time trying to compile what is clearly just a code fragment example. The article lists several sources of FTP client software. Once you have chosen one package to evaluate, write your test program using the actual classes from that package, using its API documentation for guidance.

I have had success in one of my servlets using JavaMail. I was able to send an email to my inbox to test it out. I proceeded to create another servlet based on that 1st one, and for reasons I can't explain, the servlet won't compile.
I get this error.
cannot resolve symbol :
variable : RecipientType
location : java.lang.String
msg.setRecipient(Message.RecipientType.TO, to); I get the same error when I switch out setRecipient for addRecipient.
However, through further testing, I've found that not only does my 1st servlet still compile, but I'm also able to run the code from the 2nd servlet, successfully in a JSP page. This is driving me nuts...how could there be a problem compiling? There's no reason why one servlet compiles (with similar if not almost exactly the same code) and the other won't. Plus this runs fine in a JSP page...what's going on??? I've spent hours on this and I can't figure it out...please help, any input is appreciated.
Here is the JSP page that runs successfully :

Package Manager to compile all packages as in Gentoo
Hello,
I love Arch and was looking to get my hands dirty, I there a way where I can compile all the packages that I install like in Gentoo rather than using only the pre-compiled i686 packages? I looked at ABS but was not sure how to keep track of the changes, I believe I simply cant do '-Syu' with ABS. I am just looking for something like Yaourt or Packer AUR helpers but for all the packages from core/extra/community.
Thank You
GopiRichAustin wrote:I'm perhaps being a bit dumb here but why not just use Gentoo instead? I am actually quite serious here since I wouldn't have thought there was a major difference between the two except you compile everything in Gentoo. I can't really see why you would want to find a workaround to do what you can already do in Gentoo.
I recently spent many days relearning the Gentoo way, did a stage3 Gentoo install alongside my Arch system, compiled a custom kernel from pf-sources, updated world, spent time reading the forum and web pages. I won't try to replay "what I found wrong in Gentoo" except for the refrain "Gentoo is broken." That was my take. I found important things broken for long periods with no attention. People rude to each other. I won't do that scene...
Arch may have a smaller developer team but I've experienced a generally high level of cooperation and discipline here. I've seen complaints about the forum here being moderated -- to me that seems to work for our good. Thanks to the moderators who keep this place civil and rational!
There seems to be a good knowledge base here and the principle of always keeping up-to-date with the upstream releases forces the developers to constantly parse upstream information to roll a coherent stream of Arch packages. The knowledge here is as good as anywhere. I just don't expect Arch Linux to be an integrated operating system, like Debian stable or Ubuntu. In my experience it gets almost as much stability as Debian Testing by virtue of quickly taking in the upstream releases, which then fix the bugs that Arch never has to fix ourselves. We trust upstream I didn't see a clear policy in Gentoo -- some upstream releases are held back forever as Gentoo devs argue over it.
I have found it possible to use Arch as the base for a customized, locally compiled system; it's possible to do that with abs/AUR and makepkg. I've developed my own style. In place of USE flags I use meld to carry forward my local changes from my local PKGBUILD to the newly released Arch PKGBUILD. I don't modify many pkgbuilds and mostly just remember which ones I change, for example to exclude gconf from my system. (It's a KDE / Xmonad desktop with a lot of audio tools).
I haven't found it possible or desirable to do bulk builds on Arch. I encounter quite a few pkgbuilds from abs that do not build straight away, sometimes because the package won't build against the library that is in abs at the same time, sometimes because patches are missing or checksums are incorrect: it becomes clear that the released binary packages are not built from the daily abs update. That would be the job of a build server that takes in abs and spits out a complete set of binaries. That is the missing step that I do myself: take in abs and compile a (daily) coherent set of binaries from it (with local mods). It is not like Gentoo. I don't think that the Arch team tries to guarantee that the their binaries can be re-built perfectly from abs, so if you try to use abs rather than pacman -S you need to understand that and accept the responsibility. It works well enough for me. -
My sister gave me her 1st gen iPad to see if I could solve an issue. It won't turn on, and when it's plugged into a power cord there is a slow pulsing sort of flash that happens on the screen....any ideas?
Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank power On again in the normal way.] It is absolutely/appsolutely safe! Now see if it charges normally and after a period try to turn it on again. If the batter has been drained it could take 20 minutes or so for it to show that it is charging.
Also considering if the battery need replacing! -
This is my first in depth attempt to understand the code for enabling arrays. I THINK I have a fairly simple problem, but the code won't compile and NetBeans is telling me I'm missing a symbol &/or class, which I just don't get. JDeveloper 10.1.2.1 won't compile my code?
Hi,
I'm pretty new to JDeveloper, and Java in general.
I've just downloaded and tried to run JDeveloper 10g (10.1.2.1.0, Build 1913) and I've having problems.
When the application loads, I get a dialog message titled "Java Virtual Machine Launcher", with the message "Could not find the main class. Program will exit"
JDeveloper then finishes loading.
I've knocked up a quick JSP page, but it won't compile. I get the message "Internal compilation error, terminated with a fatal exception."
Also, I've notived that if I go to Project Properties and try to look at Profiles->Development->Libraries, JDeveloper throws a NullPointerException.
I've got JDeveloper 10.1.3 on my machine, and it has none of these problems?
After looking around on the web, I'm thinking it might be a CLASS_PATH problem, but how can I confirm this, and how can I fix it?
Any ideas on what is wrong would be appreciated?
Thanks
ThomThanks thahn.
That fixed the "Java Virtual Machine Launcher" error - I would never have thought spaces in the directory name could have caused this problem!
The other problems remain though, so I still can't compile any code. -
DG4ODBC MSSQL query works in sql, but won't compile in PL/SQL.
I'm using DG4ODBC from 11g to query a SQL Server database. The query I'm using works in a SQL DEveloper SQL worksheet and sqlplus, but won't compile in a PL/SQL procedure.
The query is
INSERT
INTO crm_labels
accountid,
label_name,
cir_labelcode,
cir_knownasname,
cir_countryidname,
parentaccountidname,
cir_customertypecode1,
cir_customertypecode2,
cir_dealstatus
SELECT "AccountId",
REPLACE("Name",chr(0)) label_name,
REPLACE("Cir_labelcode",chr(0)) ,
REPLACE("Cir_knownasname",chr(0)),
REPLACE("cir_countryidName",chr(0)),
REPLACE("ParentAccountIdName",chr(0)),
"Cir_customertypecode1",
"Cir_customertypecode2",
"Cir_dealstatus"
FROM "dbo"."Account"@crmsvc
WHERE "Cir_labelcode" IS NOT NULL;The error message is
Error(1): ORA-04052: error occurred when looking up remote object dbo.Account@CRMSVC ORA-01948: identifier's name length (34) exceeds maximum (30)I'm guessing that it is attempting to describe additional columns in the Account table.
If I remove the dbo,
FROM "Account"@crmsvcI get

However, if I try to use the same query to create a materialized view, I get.

DG4ODBC is also 11.2.0.3The gateway claims about this column "Address1_TimeZoneRuleVersionNu" which is not listed in your select list.
When a gateway connection is established it first checks out all columns of the table you want to select to determine the data types and then it fetches the data for the columns you want to select. But there's also an exception - when you use functions the gateway is not able to translate into the syntax of the foreign database. in this case ALL columns will be fetched into the Oracle database and the result is processed locally (post processing).
You're using replace function which won't be mapped to the foreign database equivalent using DG4ODBC so it will post process the result and fetch from all columns all the data into the Oracle database. Your table contains a column which exceeds the 30 character limitation of Oracle, hence the select will fail.
The only work around is to create a view on the foreign database side which reduces the column name length to 30 characters or less. -
SQL query won't compile based on DB role privileges
Can someone give me an explanation why the SQL query in a report won't compile if an object is owned by another schema and the parsing schema is given privileges to the table via a role grant?
Or to phrase it another way, why do we have to make direct grants on tables to the parsing schema for reports based on SQL queries that access tables in other schemas?
Thanks in advance,
PaulPaul - In Oracle, roles are not enabled during the execution of definer's rights stored procedures which is the environment in which all Application Express application code is parsed/executed. There are scads of posts about this topic in this forum.
