Migration Problem Form 6.0 to 10g
I have developed all my packages in Form 6. Recently I ran this application on 10g. Everything works fine but my push button display is not full or it is incomplete. The bottom horizontal edge is not displayed but when I click my mouse on the push button, I am able to see the complete button. I tried to increase its height but still it doesn't work. I created a dummy push button in the same form to see its display but it too shows incomplete display.
Please note I am not using icon it is text push button.
When I create a new form in 10g and use push button then the display is complete.
Can anyone help me to sort out this problem.
Thanks

You had better pose that question on the forum related to the general issue of Application/Database Migrations...

Migrating from Forms 4.5 to 10g
I'm trying to start a new project and we have to migrate a complete system built in developer/2000 (forms 4.5) to Developer 10g. Which is the best way to do that, is necessary first migration to 6i or 9i?
I have basic knowledge in java/xml and all oracle web technology, what is the best path to learn it?
0.- Are there papers/tutorials available?
1.- Jdeveloper is mandatory to be used?
2.- Do I have to use Forms or JDeveloper (both?)?
Thanks in advanceBest resource would be to go to otn.oracle.com/formsupgrade
Generally speaking we only certified upgrade form 4.5 to 10g via 6i but you can still go from 4.5. straight up to 10g if you want.
You probably need a couple of days to go through the information above but generally speaking its the same developer skills you need - you don't really have to learn new technologies.

Migrating from Forms/Reports 6i to 10G
Hi all
I'm trying to migrate my application, developped using forms and reports 6i to 10G.
Could someone please give me the list of functions/procedures deprecated in the 10G that was used in 6i? I've no access to metalink.
this would help me replace the deprecated instructions in 6i by the equivalent ones in 10G.
Thanks for your help

Suggetions required for migrating Oracle forms 4.5 to 10G
Hi,
We are migrating an application, which is built using oracle forms 4.5 to oracle 10G forms. I have following queries:
1. We are trying to automate some steps in this process using following approach:
a. Migrating forms 4.5 to 6i using command line option
b. Migrating forms 6i to 10G using migration assistant
c. Using forms API for setting some properties automatically like Coordinate system, fonts etc.
But Still there are several steps that need to be taken care manually. Esp. GUI correction related. Can any body suggest any thing additional to this or any better approach.
2. What is the best way of approaching this migration? Are there standard tools available and are they realy useful ( or still lot's to be done manually).
3. Any other useful tip.
Regards

Migrating 9ids form & reports to Oracle 10g
Hi,
I want to migrate my all 9ids forms and reports to Oracle 10G. Is there any Migration tool to migrate more than one form or report at a time.
Please let me know ASAP.
Regards,
MalayHello,
Migration tools:
1. Oracle Forms Migration Assistant
frmplsqlconv mode=batch/wizard module=modulename log=logname
Can be executed in batch or wizard mode, and can convert more modules.
2.WebUtil (last version is 1.0.6 and can be used for converting to forms 10g Release 1( 9.0.4) and Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2.)
Check this links for more documentation:

Hotkey (Ctrl+B) is not working after migration from Forms 6i to 10g
Dear Gurus,
Need your help regarding the following problem:
After migrating from Forms 6i to 10g (Rel 2), Ctrl+B (used to list the blocks in a form) hotkey is not working anymore (all other hotkeys are working fine). I've checked my FMRWEB.RES and it contains an entry for Ctrl+B:
66 : 2 : "Ctrl+B" : 70 : "Block Menu"
Additional Information:
OS: AIX
NLS_LANG = UTF8
fmrweb_utf8.res also contains the same text for Ctrl+B as above.
I tried to reproduce it on my Windows Machine (with NLS_LANG set to AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1) and its not working as well. I don't have right to put move files on AIX server but i can try anything (on my local system) suggested by the Oracle gurus.
Best Regards,Dear Gerd,
"are you sure, that it is the hotkey"
Yes, i am dead sure. Since:
(1) It was working fine in forms 6i
(2) If you run a form and select Help => Keys, you will see Ctrl+B on the top of list
The problem is its not taking into account the keys which i am defining in the file (although i am following the same procedure detailed on metalink.oracle.com).

Problem of Data Import/Export after migration of Oracle DB 9i to 10g
We have encountered the following problem after the migration of Oracle DB 9i to 10g R1 and ESRI ArcSDE 8.3 to 9.1.
In our development server, a view was created by joining of one feature class (point feature), two attribute tables and one F table. We have to perform a process to export all the features in that particular view from the development server and then import them to the production server. In total, there should be about 60,000 points.
Form our past experience (using Oracle DB 9i and ESRI ArcSDE 8.3); we spent about 15-20 minutes to complete the import-export procedure. However, after the system migration, the speed of the import-export procedures is extremely slow, which is talking about 2 hours for ONLY EXPORTING 5MB data.
We would like to seek advice in solving the above problems. THANKS!Try to delete old stats, then gather new stats on the schema and try the export again.

Technical Document (Exact Procedures) To Migrate Forms/Reports 9i to 10g
Hi;
Where can i find the Technical Document (Exact Procedures) To Migrate Forms/Reports 9i to 10g?This seems to be a common point of confusion. The "FMw Upgrade Assistant" is a utility which helps you to upgrade the entire Application Server installation to a newer version (e.g. 11.1.x). This has nothing to do with your Forms (fmb, mmb, pll, etc) or Reports (rep, rdf, etc) applications. Generally speaking, I would say that using the UA is not necessary and likely should not be used in most cases. Cases where it should be used might include a situation where your previous version has been significantly customized and you don't know how or don't want to make the same customization in the new environment manually. Whether you are talking about a new product (Oracle or not) or even a new OS, generally your best bet is to start with a clean, new installation. Attempting to upgrade an existing version always comes with problems. Just one man's opinion ;-)
As for your Forms application(s), there is a Forms Migration Assistant (FMA), explained in the Forms Upgrade Guide:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24269_01/doc.11120/e24478/toc.htm
That said, just like using UA, it is always better to take the extra time and not rely on such tools if they can be avoided. In most cases, the FMA will not be needed. This is especially true if your application is coming from version 10. For older versions, using FMA might be beneficial.
So, to the point, in order to move a Forms application (fmb, mmb, pll) from version 10 to 11 is as simply as recompiling your modules using the v11 compiler. That's it ;-) -
6i - 10G migration problem with sdo_geometry.srid
I'm migrating a forms application from 6i to 10G and Forms Builder 10G fails to compile a form. The statement it's having a problem with is this:
update nbg_redline_element r set r.geometrie.sdo_srid =p_srid;The error I get is an internal error:
Error 801, at line 0, column 0
Internal error [60513]
Seems Forms 10G can't handle geometry types which 6i could.
Do I have to move this code to the server of is there another way to handle this?

Catalog Migration Problem from 10g to 11g
Hi,
When i am trying to migrate catalog of 10g to 11g. They have some problems
1. In obiee 10g (under root folder) it shows only around 5 dashboards. But actually when i am seeing in the I catalog manager of obiee 10g it shows 12 dashboards and pages.
Can some please help me on this how to see the other dashboards and page in obiee 10g ( under root folder ).
2. When i am trying to migrate the catalog folder in obiee 11g it also shows around 5 dashboards. And other dashboards are not seeing after migration.
Can someone please help me on this how to see the other dashboards and pages in obiee 11g as well.Hi,
In Webcat, there can be some contents that are inconsistent/invalid. And such contents have 0 byte size. Please check if dashboards files that are not visible and their corresponding .atr files have 0 byte size.
Other possibility can be dashboards are hidden for the user-id you are using for login.
Please mark as helpful/correct if this reply helps.
Thanks,
Vijay

How to Migrate Oracle Forms 10g 9.0.4 to 10.1.2
Hi I would like to find information on what is necessary to do in order to migrate Forms 10g 9.0.4 to 10.1.2.
Do I need to use Oracle Migration assistant ?
Is it enough only compile forms ?
Where I find documentation on how to execute this migration. I am only find documentatio to migrate from 6i to 10g, but I need documentation to migrate from Forms 10g 9.0.4 to 10.1.2.Hi,
Thank you for the answer about Oracle forms.
Now I would like ask another question but this time for Oracle Application Server. As we have Oracle forms 10g 9.0.4 we also use the Application Server with this same version.
Do you have any recommendations on how to Migrate the Oracle Application Server from 10g 9.0.4 to 10.1.2 ?
Thank you . -
Migrating Devloper 2000 Forms to 9i or 10G?
I hope the Devloper community can assist me with these two questions:
(1) When is Oracle scheduled to roll out the Devloper Suite 10G that coincides with their 10G Database?
(2) I need to migrate my old Oracle Forms 5.0 (Developer 2000)to a more current release. Should I go to Developer9i or wait for 10G? Also someone mentioned to me that due to the old architecture of Developer 2000 that I need to convert them to Forms6i before migrating to 9i. Is this true? Is there a kit or procedures by Oracle to complete this migration?
Many Thanks,
T.J.TJ,
1. Developer Suite 10g should be out right now
2. Upgrade to Forms 10g
For the migration, indeed, the recommnded way is to migrate following the path of all releases between. The major architectural change however happened between Forms 4.5 and Forms 5.0.
The benefit of migrating to Forms 6i first is that you still have a client-server environment to test your application before moving it to the Web (and this is where most of the changes are required).
In fact the migration from Forms 6i (on the Web) - once there - to Forms 10g isn't a big one.
There are some obsolteted features in Forms9i/10g compared to Forms 6i, but theese can be captured using the Forms Migration Assistant that comes with Forms 9i and Forms 10g. Not sure if the Forms Migration Assistant GUI is shipped with Forms 10g - haven't tested - but it can be downloaded here from OTN.

Forms 4.5 to 10g Upgrade Problem
I am attempting to upgrade Forms 4.5 to 10g.
I have converted to 6i first then 10g. When I run a converted form all that is displayed is a gray box within the browser screen.
If I create a new form in 10g that runs and displays ok and if I create a new form in 6i and convert and run from 10g that runs and displays ok.
What do I need to do to my 4.5 forms to make them visible when running from 10g.
Regards
IanThanks for the reply. I have solved my problem. I hadn't set up my config file correctly so I was not picking up the PL/SQL Libraries that my form is referencing. For some reason it wasn't giving me an error message but it is okay now.

One An advantage could be:
From 10gR2 you can directly a Forms 6i while you can't from Form 4.5
A lot of built in are deprecated in forms 6i you can imagine yourself in Form 4.5
Howevar in link above you can find all this things
