Migration Procedure from Essbase 9.3.3 to 11.1.2.1

Hi,
Could you please let me know the procedure or steps to Migrate from Essbase 9.3.3 to 11.1.2.1
Thanks

Have you done any research like search this forum before posting, migrations have been covered lots of times on here.
Also if you are talking about upgrading the server components then there is documentation available - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17236_01/nav/portal_1.htm

    Is there any documment that describes the migration procedure from Forte 30M Conductor 10M to UDS 5.0.xIS 3.0.x
    thanks in advance,

    There is one for migrating for Forte 3.x to UDS 5.01. Your SUN rep is the best source to provide you that information. I have no information about Conductor but I will see if I can find any.

    Does anyone have a procedure to migrate essbase from unix to wondows NT? I know that is a procedure in installation guide Ch.10, but I think it is just for the NT to NT..

    we did this last year. export the data from the databases to a text file, use level 0 if you only load at level 0.after installing essbase on nt, add the same name apps and dbs in nt, connect to the unix & nt servers in appman, copy the outlines/dbs from unix to nt. load the data from your exports.copy all the object files eg .csc, .rpt, etc from the unix server, reset all server, app and db settings, including cfg file and recalc.we recreated security ids, groups and filters

  • Universe Migration Procedure from TEST Server to PROD server

    Hi,
    We are using SAP BO XI R3 version in our project TEST windows 2003 server.
    we have designed the universe in TEST BO Server and it's working great.
    Now, we would like to move/migrate the universe created in TEST Server to the PROD server.
    please let me know the migration steps [step by step procedure - documents] in getting the universe available in PROD server as well.
    Note: We are using SAP BO XI R2 version in PROD server & XI R3 in TEST Server respectively in separate physical machine .
    Regards,
    Karthik

    Thanks for your support Henry. I agree with your point.
    I have 1 quick question: if we copy the .unv file from TEST BO R3 server and paste the same .unv file to PROD BO R2 server, will it be available for importing in PROD BO R2 Server [to do modification in connection settings (connection to pointing PROD DB)]?
    If yes, we can copy [not export (no use of tool)] manually the .unv file from TEST R3 server and paste it manually in PROD R2 Machine under universes folder and make any modification like changing the connections....etc.,
    Please let me know if this approach works fine with no issues. Because its going to be done in PROD.
    Many Thanks,
    Karthik.

  • Migrate the users, groups from essbase 7.1.6 to shared services

    Hi
    Our current production is essbase version 7.1.6 and we are planning to migrate to EPM 11.1.2 . We would like to move the security administration from Essbase to Shared Services (want to use Native Directory).
    can somebody please suggest
    1) An utility that Oracle provides with EPM 11.1.2 that helps to migrate the users and groups from 7.1.6 to shared services?
    2) After bringing the users groups from 7.1.6 to 11.1.2, do we need to externalize these users and groups or no need?
    Appreciate the help. Thanks,

    if you have LDAP/MSAD try to configure it first .That will get your users
    Now using maxl
    spool on to GROUP.txt
    display gruoup all;
    spool on to USER.txt
    display user in group all;
    for test purpose create a test group and a test user from the shared services.
    Now using GROUP.txt
    make up maxl statements to create groups(use any advanced text editor or MS excel to get your work done fast)
    create group 'groupname';
    now login into that shared services
    go to FOundation Application group->click sharedservices->drop down native directory ->Right click on Groups and select export for edit.THat will save you Groups.csv file.
    Now
    1.Open that Groups.csv file
    2.Using USER,txt ,paste the users in that file under their respective group.(Look for test group created that should give you an idea!!!)
    3.Paste user correctly and save it to the same file Groups.csv
    4.go to FOundation Application group->click sharedservices->drop down native directory ->Right click on Groups and select IMPORT for edit.
    5.that will get your users into the groups.
    ________filters_______
    Using maxl again
    spool on to FILTER.txt
    display filter row all;
    spool on to GRPRIVILEGE.txt
    display privilege group all;
    Now using FILTER.txt
    create maxl statements
    (use any advanced text editor or MS excel to get your work done fast)
    Ex: create filter app.database.filtername read/write/none/metaread on 'AREA ' ;
    Using GRPRIVILEGE.txt
    create maxl statements
    grant filter app.databse.filtername to 'groupname';
    that should get your filters created and assigned.
    else you can use Advanced Security Manger

    hope that should give you an idea!!!!!!!

    Hi all,
    I have an immediate requirement to migrate huge essbase applications from essbase 7.5.1 to system 9.
    as per my knowledge, i believe that we can migrate from 7.5.1 --->9.2.0.2--->9.3.1 or EPM 11i.
    Anybody who have worked on the same please confirm.
    Or if there is any ohter way to do it, please let me know.
    will it be possible to migrate from 7.5.1 to 9.3.1 directly? i was able to migrate very simple applications directly from 7.5.1 to 9.3.1. I am sure there will be issues when we migrate huge applications.
    Hope to get a response from u guys...

  • Migrating DESKI Reports (Stored Procedures) from 6x to XI 3.1

    I am migrating DESKI reports based off of Stored procedures from a 6x environment to XI 3.1
    I have created a new OLE DB connection pointing to the new SQL server.
    I need to find out how to point my report to the new connection.
    I have seen in that in case of DESKI reports using universes, I can go to Data Manager --> Definition tab and point to my new universe there.
    But in case of stored procedure report, that option is not available.
    Can someone let me know how to go about migrating these reports which are pointing to Stored Procedures.
    Thanks

    Note that I have never done it.
    But I heard you could create a new universe with a derived table. In the SQL of the derived table you can call the stored procedure. The connection of that new universe is your stored procedure connection.
    Build you report with that new universe, using the derived table.

  • Cannot migrate files from old MacBook to new MacBook Pro

    I have been trying without success to migrate files from my old MacBook to my new one.  The Migration Assistant doesn't work.  The new Mac recognizes the old one but the old one cannot see the new one.  The old MacBook has OS 10.5.8 and the new MacBook Pro has 10.8.1.
    Then I tried migrating from my Time Machine backup, with the external drive still connected to the old MacBook, but it kept telling me I didn't have enough space to copy anything, even when I unchecked everything except my Documents folder.
    I went to the Apple Store and one of their "geniuses" told me I could connect the external hard drive directly to the new MacBook Pro and migrate the files from there.  That didn't work either; I got an error message about incompatible software.
    The genius also told me that I could back up the new MacBook Pro to the same external hard drive with Time Machine that I'd been using and that I'd be able to restore from backups from either computer, but that's not true.  I cannot see any backups on the drive except from the new computer.  Time Machine does recognize that there is space in use on the drive but will not show me any of the content.
    Does anyone know how I can migrate my files, short of copying them to a flash drive and doing it the old-fashioned way?  Thank you!

    It is possible to merge accounts but it is not easy nor foolproof. The easier solutions:
    1. Remove the account made in Setup Assistant and change the username on the migrated account.
    See Mac OS X- How to change user short name or home directory name.
    See Macworld | Changing the short username in Leopard - use the last procedure, "The Full Monty."
    2. Log into the migrated, renamed account and delete the account made in Setup Assistant, then re-migrate your data.

  • Calling Stored Procedures from JAVA Application

    Hi all,
    i am using JDeveloper 3.2.2 for creating a DB Application that
    uses Oracle8i as DB Server.
    One approach of the application is to only use PL/SQL Stored
    Procedures to write Data back to the DB.
    Some of the stored procedures expect more than 20 parameters.
    I want to know if there is a better way to call such a stored
    procedure from Java than using a CallableStatement and setting
    its 20 parameters.
    Another reason why the way above isnt possible for me is that
    i need a dynamic way to set the parameters of the stored
    procedure.
    A solution for that dynamic way i could think of is to get
    the information of the stored procedure by using some functions
    of DatabaseMetaData and than use this information to map the
    parameters with their respective variables in the java
    application.
    The best argument against this way is that it would be time and
    performance consuming.
    So could anybody tell me a solution to call PL/SQL stored
    procedures from java which is better than doing something like:
    String calString = "{Call myStoredProc(";
    while(counter < 22) {
    params += "?";
    if(counter<21) params += ",";
    counter++;
    calString += params + ")}";
    try {
    CallableStatement cs = session.prepareCall(calString);
    } catch(SQLException ex) { ... }
    cs.setString(1, var1);
    cs.setString(1, var2);
    And that for every Stored Procedure i want to call ?!?
    Any help or direction-leading would be really appreciated.
    Tank you much.
    MfG,
    Oliver Bankel

    Hi Oliver,
    If you your Stored Procedures were in Java and seamlessly
    integrated with your Java application would that make your life
    easier?
    I don't know if this is a practical or acceptable solution in
    your environment but it would certainly solve all of your issues
    and provide your with a couple of nice advantages. Scalability
    and platform independence are just a couple I could think of.
    There is a tool called in2j (see http://www.in2j.com) which will
    automatically migrate your PL/SQL Stored Procedures into Java.
    You can download a copy of the tool and migrate your PL/SQL to
    Java with no upfront costs. If you're happy with the generated
    Java and want to deploy it, the migration fee falls due - simple.
    Hope this helps.

  • Regarding Migrating data from Legacy to SAP

    Hi All,
    We are in Migration Project. We have to upload data from legacy to SAP, either using BDC or Cross-Applications in the following SD scenario's.
    1. Customer Master
    2. Inquiries
    3. Quotations
    4. Proposals
    5. Sales Order
    6. Goods Issue
    I would like to know, which concept is better for each of the above scenario. Each option have advantages and disadvantages. So, I need suggestion regarding this.
    Regards,
    Sathya.

    hi
    LSMW and BDC are vastly different.
    BDC (Batch Data Communication) is a technology used for data transfer. it is meant for transferring data thru SAP transactions itself. when u use BDC for data transfer, the sequence of steps is the same as when u use standard sap transaction screens for data upload. the only difference is that u can use different options for foreground/backgrou nd processing.
    LSMW on the other hand is a tool that helps migrate data from a legacy system (non-sap system ) to SAP system. it offers u various options to use either batch input, direct input, BAPIs or idocs. it involves a series of some 17-18 steps to migrate data.
    BDC:
    Batch Data Communication (BDC) is the process of transferring data from one SAP System to another SAP system or from a non-SAP system to SAP System.
    Features :
    BDC is an automatic procedure.
    This method is used to transfer large amount of data that is available in electronic medium.
    BDC can be used primarily when installing the SAP system and when transferring data from a legacy system (external system).
    BDC uses normal transaction codes to transfer data.
    Types of BDC :
    CLASSICAL BATCH INPUT (Session Method)
    CALL TRANSACTION
    BATCH INPUT METHOD:
    This method is also called as ‘CLASSICAL METHOD’.
    Features:
    Asynchronous processing.
    Synchronous Processing in database update.
    Transfer data for more than one transaction.
    Batch input processing log will be generated.
    During processing, no transaction is started until the previous transaction has been written to the database.
    CALL TRANSACTION METHOD :
    This is another method to transfer data from the legacy system.
    Features:
    Synchronous processing. The system performs a database commit immediately before and after the CALL TRANSACTION USING statement.
    Updating the database can be either synchronous or asynchronous. The program specifies the update type.
    Transfer data for a single transaction.
    Transfers data for a sequence of dialog screens.
    No batch input processing log is generated.
    LSMW:
    The LSM Workbench is an R/3-based tool that supports You when transferring data from non-SAP systems ("Legacy Systems") to R/3 once or periodically.
    The tool supports conversion of data of the legacy system in a convenient way. The data can then be imported into the R/3 system via batch input, direct input, BAPIs or IDocs.
    Furthermore, the LSM Workbench provides a recording function that allows to generate a "data migration object" in an entry or change transaction.
    The main advantages of the LSM Workbench:
    • Part of R/3 and thus independent of individual platforms
    • A variety of technical possibilities of data conversion:
    • Data consistency due to standard import techniques:
    Batch input
    Direct input
    BAPIs (Business Application Programming Interfaces)
    IDocs (Intermediate Documents)
    The import technique to be used in an individual case depends on the business object.
    • Generation of the conversion program on the basis of defined rules
    • Clear interactive process guide
    • Interface for data in spreadsheet format
    • Creation of data migration objects on the basis of recorded transactions
    • Charge-free for SAP customers and SAP partners
