Migration Process.......

Hi Folks,
I don't aware of migration process(i.e BPC 7.5 NW version to BPC 10.0 NW Version), can please any one let me know how the migration process starts, what are the mandatory steps for migration and all those things.
In which note the entire Migration process describes, please let me know the SAP Notes numbers which are related to Migration process.

the old server stop functioning as a server for my network. What I mean by this is when in the migration process (when I add the new server as a replicate DC? not until I demote the old server?) will any programs/databases on the old server no
longer be available to client computers?

Yeah, we need to agree on what is meant by "the server". In Windows, Server means many different things. Each time you move, a role or feature from the "old" to the "new" the old server ceases to function as "the server"
for that role or feature. The basic functions of a Windows DC include Active Directory, 5 FSMO roles, file and print services, and application services to name just a few.
So the answer to your question is more to do with what you mean by "server". In particular, for the application role, you must move the app to the new server by whatever means the developer recommends. At that point, regardless of whatever
else is going on the old server is out of the picture for that application.

How to Migrate Process Instance in Process Workspace with ps4fp

Hi everyone,
I am using BPM 11gR5 with ps4fp, I want to Migrate Process Instance in Process Workspace, then deployed two version for a BPM project. but can not find the "Migrate" menu in "Process Tracking tab->Action" in process workspace.
Is it correct for the step I did or Does anyone know where the "Migrate" local.

The process information is stored but in an MDS database. You should not access that information or change it as it might render the system unstable. If you want to access previous instances you should set up a separate relational database and store the information there within your process. It sounds sucky tbh. I was appalled when i found out but when you think about it, bpm is supposed to sit on top of something, so its something you will have to live with. You still need a performing back end system- bpm is not the solutions to all problems.

If you are using Migration Assistant with a WiFi connection expect 12+ hours, 24 hours is possible.
If you are using hardwired network connections expect 4 to 8 hours.

There is one ambiguity (at list for me) in migration process. Should or should I not create new Oracle database for the migration repository? If not then which to use?

You need to create a new user (schema) for your repository.

HT4796 Migration process Setup problem on new MAC

I just bought a MacBook Pro today and started the migration process as part of the setup and my PC suddenly shut down during the transfer process. Now the MAC seems hung on the Transferring Your Information screen and won't move. How do I clear and start again?

Would love to tell you never used that option. I guess it depends how much stuff you got on your old PC..

1. Activate the New General Ledger Accounting by a single click on the clock icon
2. You will reach to change view "activation of New GL A/cg" detail screen and tick the checkbox and save.
3. After activation of New General Ledger Accounting, you exit the IMG screen when you re-enter, you find that a new node is added Financial Accounting (New)
4. After activation of New General Ledger Accounting, a new sub node appears in the IMG structure.
This sub node is Define Segment
The menu path is:
SAP Customizing IMG ---> Enterprise Structure -
> Definition ---> Financial Accounting ---> Define Segment
In this IMG activity, you define your segments.
If you then define your profit centers, you can enter an associated segment in the master record of a profit center. The segment is then derived from the assigned profit center during posting.

6. Leading and Non- Leading Ledgers
In General Ledger Accounting, you can use several Ledgers in parallel. This allows you to produce financial statements (RFBILA00) according to different accounting principles. The Leading Ledger is based on the same accounting principles as that of the consolidated financial statements. It is integrated with all subsidiary ledgers and is updated in all company codes. This means that it is automatically assigned to all company codes. In each company code, the Leading Ledger receives exactly the same settings that apply to that company code: the currencies, the fiscal year variant and posting period variant.
You must designate one of your ledgers as the Leading Ledger. It is not possible to designate more than one ledger as the leading ledger.

SAP delivers a number of scenarios in the standard system. It is not possible to create additional scenarios.

9. Cost of sales accounting

Migration process...can't login to new server

Hello all,
I am on page 30 of the migration process where I need to login into the new
server running the NSMEngine. I put in a username and password, like I had
before...and it just hangs.
I read where it said that I may have to be a member of the NSMAdmins
group...there isn't any such group in eDirectory. I have migrated my
policies over and don't want to remove or reinstall anything for fear of
losing my policies.
Any thoughts?

How long does the migration process take? And can you speed it up?

That's rather like asking how long is a piece of string.
It depends on how much you've got to migrate. Make sure that you run software update on the old machine before you start the migration. Failure to do this is one of the biggest causes of problems people have with this process.

NewGL Migration - Process Open items BADI

Hi ,
We are migrating with document splitting, in the process document split for open items BADI we can assign a account assignment object to enrich the document with the splittign characteristics defined. Currently it works for blank open item docuemnts ( meaning if the business area is blank it fills with the right value) but if the field already as values, it throws a validation error, that the field changes are not permitted Error FAGL_MIG_022.
Any help on how to replace the old values to new values will be appreciated. Its for Business area and its defined as
split characterittics with required indicator.

I think It's more of question for business users, coz you can accommodate either way;
1) Upload balances with original invoice rate, so that at payment correct forex gain/loss will be booked.
2) Alternatively,Business 'Realize' the forex diff. at the go-live date, and upload the balance in Gain/Loss GL accordingly. Now, all the AR/AP balance are uploaded with the rate maintained at go-live date, and later on SAP will calculate the diff. between the payment date and go-live date. This way also forex is booked correctly in accounts.
I'd suggest option 2 because it's straight forward. In option 1, you will have to upload the exch.rates for each invoice which could be different.

Client currently has HEM and we are implementing EPM v11. I am wondering if there is any standard process to migrate historical data from HEM 6.5 to HFM 11.1.2.1?

First you need to migrate to v9.3.1 HFM (Fresh implementation of HFM) and then upgrade from 9.3.1 to 11.1.2.1

Forms/Reports 6i to 10g migration process

I will start a process in order to migrate our currently Forms/Reports 6i application to Oracle DS 10g (Forms/Reports 10g). What I need to know in order to begin this process.
For example: What Oracle Application Server my customers needs to buy ? and about licenses that they need to have ?

I would recommend using 10g Release 2 which is version 10.1.2.
You will need Oracle Developer Suite 10.1.2 for development and application maintenance needs. This distribution includes a light weight http listener used for testing applications while being developed. This light weight listener is not supported for multi-user access or production deployment.
You will need Oracle Application Server 10.1.2 for deployment. If you only plan to use Forms and Reports and do not need additional security features or Identity Management (SSO, OID, etc), you can use the Forms/Reports Services distribution which is smaller than the complete Application Server installation. Refer to the following for more information:

Automate the migration process from BW to BI

I want to automate the process of migration from BW to BI. Currently as we know this is done manually. I studied the program that is generated at runtime. How is this program triggered?
Is it possible to combine all the steps of migration into a single step where a user can input the details and then the migration takes place by itself?

How are you going to let your program decide what to do about a corrupt table etc?
The upgrade may stop at the active-table of a DSO for example.
IMO the upgrade is already highly automated.
An upgrade without human interaction is very risky.
If you are talking about migrating queries and workbooks, that's a whole other issue.

Can i seperate ABAP conversion from the Unicode Migration Process ?

Hi all,
I don't have detailed technical information about ABAP programs and i need to deliver a project (unicode migration project) which needs some time arrangements. Because of that, we're trying to find out other ways to decrease the total time.
As SAP guide says; before the migration, we must convert the ABAP programs. When we check them, only ABAP programs that our developers wrote, need to be converted. So the question is; is it possible to seperate these steps ? I mean, go on the unicode migration without converting ABAP programs and meanwhile, change ABAP programs in another SAP system (similar to the live one). With this process, save some time and then import the converted ABAP programs to the migrated unicode system. Is it possible ?
Any help will be appreciated, thanks in advance.

I currently am using Postbox during the trial period because the frustration of trying to solve this ridiculous problem I posted about above was too much. Unlike most people, I won't rant and rave about OS X's decline after Lion and Mountain Lion as I never had major issues after upgrading to either of them. It's just beyond belief that the magnitude of this last problem being able to break an app within something that is just supposed to "work" that is beyond me.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone who uses Postbox might be able to offer a suggestion or two about how to import mailboxes from a Time Machine backup as I would still like to have access to those folders which were "On My Mac" with all of the archived messages which were contained within each of them? I know that you can import from Apple Mail, but that's only if it is currently set up they way you want it to be. And as I no longer have those settings because I can't restore to the point before I deleted all the accounts, etc. from Mail in my frustration -- I'm sure I can't just point Postbox to some plist file to have it mimic my old Mail setup.
Anyone?
