Migration Requirements - drivers etc?

Hi
What software will I need to download to do a SQL server 2008 to oracle 11g express migration?
I have already downloaded SQL oracle developer and the Oracle Workbech. Will I need to download a driver to? Where can I find the latest?
I am using Windows 2008 server.
Thanks
Jan

Jan,
To make the connection from SQL*Developer to the SQL*Server database you will need to download a third party JDBC driver.
This is described in the documentation available from here -
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E35137_01/index.htm
Oracle® SQL Developer
User's Guide Release 3.2
In the section -
Database: Third Party JDBC Drivers
Database: Third Party JDBC Drivers
The Third Party JDBC Drivers pane specifies drivers to be used for connections to third-party (non-Oracle) databases, such as IBM DB2, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, or Sybase Adaptive Server. (You do not need to add a driver for connections to Microsoft Access databases.) To add a driver, click Add Entry and select the path for the driver:
■For IBM DB2: the db2jcc.jar and db2jcc_license_cu.jar files, which are available from IBM
■For MySQL: a file with a name similar to mysql-connector-java-5.0.4-bin.jar, in a directory under the one into which you unzipped the download for the MySQL driver
■For Microsoft SQL Server or Sybase Adaptive Server: jtds-1.2.jar, which is included in the jtds-1.2-dist.zip download
■For Teradata: tdgssconfig.jar and terajdbc4.jar, which are included (along with a readme.txt file) in the TeraJDBC__indep_indep.12.00.00.110.zip or TeraJDBC__indep_indep.12.00.00.110.tar download
Alternative:
As an alternative to using this preference, you can click Help, then Check for Updates to install the JTDS JDBC Driver for Microsoft SQL Server and the MySQL JDBE Driver as extensions.
To find a specific third-party JDBC driver, see the appropriate website (for example, http://www.mysql.com for the MySQL Connector/J JDBC driver for MySQL, http://jtds.sourceforge.net/ for the jTDS driver for Microsoft SQL Server and Sybase Adaptive Server, or search at http://www.teradata.com/ for the JDBC driver for Teradata). For MySQL, use the MySQL 5.0 driver, not 5.1 or later, with SQL Developer release 1.5.
You must specify a third-party JDBC driver or install a driver using the Check for Updates feature before you can create a database connection to a third-party database of that associated type. (See the tabs for creating connections to third-party databases in the Create/Edit/Select Database Connection dialog box.)

Mike

  • Hi, my Ipod Schuffle (4 gen) dissapears from windows vista right after I execute Itunes, I've change the drive letter, erase temps in App data file, verified USB drivers, etc... Can someone guide on how to solve this?

Hi, my Ipod Schuffle (4 gen) dissapears from windows vista right after I execute Itunes, I've change the drive letter, erase temps in App data file, verified USB drivers, etc... Can someone guide on how to solve this?

If you want the shuffle to be always visible in Windows (outside of iTunes), you need to Enable disk use.
Select the shuffle in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right, select the Summary tab.  You should see a checkbox that says Enable disk use.  Check it and click Apply.
NOTE:  If disk use is enabled, you have to Eject the shuffle in iTunes, BEFORE you physically disconnect it.  If disk use is NOT enabled, you can disconnect the shuffle at any time, as long as iTunes is not doing something with it at that moment (such as syncing); the shuffle's light will then be blinking (to indicate DO NOT DISCONNECT).
So, unless you want to use the shuffle like a USB flash drive (carry random files on it), you may want to NOT Enable disk use.

  • Is there a similar file to windows\ssytem32\drivers\etc\hosts in OS X

    Hi,
I am running a Windows 2003 Server with several websites. I would like to view my websites from my new Imac, however I keep getting prompted for the user name and password for the router.
In windows on my old computer I could edit the file C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts with the IP address and URL of the site and it would open. Is there a similar file in the Mac OS X 10.5.7 software.
    Many Thanks in anticipation

Adding host records by editing the /etc/hosts file is not entirely reliably. Since Leopard, some people have reported issues of the added host records "mysteriously" disappearing, or Apache not being able to properly resolve the added hosts. The bigger issue is that the modifications in the /etc/hosts file can create unwanted side effects in the normal functioning of services like the mail server and others.
Since Leopard, there has been an alternate way to add host records using the dscl utility. In fact, by many, it is considered the better, more reliable, and safer method.
You can read this recent article to see how its done:
    http://tomafro.net/2009/07/dscl-the-easy-way-to-add-hosts-on-osx
There are a number of additional articles on the web about using dscl for adding host records to OS X.
The choice, of course, is yours. If you are using the /etc/hosts file without issue, then it might be safe to continue doing so. But, if your system starts experiencing domain name resolution issues or problems with services such as the mail server, you should consider switching to and using the dslocal database to manage your host records.

  • I have just purchased the latest macbook pro 13 retina (late 2013). I want to connect to a Dell U2713H Monitor. As the  new macbook doesn't have a cd slot, I am unable to install the monitor drivers etc. Where can I download the drivers?

Thanks for your prompt reply. I'm not sure how to connect to the monitor as the only ports available on this model mac are Thunderbolt. The mini display to display cable supplied doesn't seem to work out of the TB port. Do I need to use a Thunderbolt cable + an adaptor?

  • Challenges for enterprise management of drivers, etc. t4xx

so i am subscribed to the lenovo driver updates for t410s model that we are rolling out company wide. already deployed 30+
    issues i see regarding keeping them updated for the corporate environment;
    1. no previous drivers version available on site? for example the power manager update recently causes multi batteries not to be read as single running time. HP, our old platform, has a previous drivers option on new driver page in case need to rollback (yes i realize windows can also do a rollback but if i need to push out company wide easier to have the original files)
    2. sometimes not enough information in the patch/driver updates. i realize this happens with many companies and they dont necesarilly list all the info I would like to see describing the scenario/issue. for example the "2010/10/14 Hotkey Features patch for Windows 7" and says
The Hotkey features patch is copying a file HKVOLKEY.DLL to a ThinkPad that DLL files has been erased accidentally.
Otherwise there is no need to apply it.
so what exactly are the conditions that cause it to be accidentally erased? this is info we need to maintain corporate machines and see if that condition could be a factor in our operating environment.
any other folks out there managing these company wide, pushing patches, drivers, etc with third party apps run into these issues?
    thanks,
    trekuhl

    Hello Mark,
Thanks for complements. I have not sent mail to any distribution list but talk to only two friends
My opinion of running such forums is that it works only and only if there is diehard person which bring in interest not only to start but continuously work on it to make sure that people find something to talk about. It has to be done in waves at the frequency that matches with decay in interest.
I think the reason for good response for ABAP is because you have called SDN is a developers network and not SAP solution network. This is just my hunch.
Other option is to use SAS, this also is a forum which is supporting only sales people.
I know that presently we have about 150 consultants implementing quite a few projects in ASIA and they donot have any forum. They are not internal but externals some of them independent. Most of these consultant are die hard EAM people, like all maintenance guys they love to talk about how they fixed up things. But they unfortunately donot have any place to do it.
As you can see from initial response we have people from development team and internal consultant (Not external because till the forum is created I donot want to create high expectations). This is a real good combination for EAM topic because of the kind of solution we have, it needs good development person to understand why of many topics.
Your assumption that it we open one more forum, the ERP forum will get thinned out is not correct because these are two separate topics and not one. People who wants EAM related discussion would hardly look in ERP related topics and normally find them raising question not relevan to others.
So I would again strongly recommend you to start a new forum, remaing marketing and get people engaged can be done by the group.

Just these entries are necessary to which system (better: instances) you want to connect. For example:
You need to connect (via SAPGUI, RFC, etc.) to systems (better: instances) with number 01, 16 and 20 you just need the entries:
    sapdp01
    sapdp16
    sapdp20
    sapgw01
    sapgw16
    sapgw20
If you need load balancing, etc. it's also necessary to have the entries for the related message servers sapms<SID>, e.g.
    sapmsT11

I have a new computer and have migrated files, etc., to the new machine running Windows 7. I want to run Firefox on the new machine but would like to migrate my bookmarks, etc., from the old machine. How can I do that?

Wait a minute! I just installed Firefox on the new computer and it has all my modifications from the old computer. How the ... did that happen?

  • MSI GT70 - which ones are required drivers and apps? Which ones are optional?

I have MSI GT70 0ND but I suppose lots of things will overlap with other GT70 even GT60 owners (Windows 8 x64). So which onces are needed and what are they? I will post some that I know, then ask you about the rest:
    http://www.msi.com/product/nb/GT70-0ND.html#/?div=Driver&os=Win8%2064
    DRIVERS
Realtek HD Audio - is this the orange sound icon for additional effects? If Yes, then I will use it
Intel(R) Chipset - main driver, download
Intel N2230 Bluetooth 4.0 - is this the bluetooth driver?
Realtek Card Reader - is this for adding memory cards in the slot, thus the driver for it?
NVIDIA Geforce GT670M/670MX/675M Graphic Card  - best is from Nvidia site, latest
(Beta) NVIDIA Geforce/Quadro Graphic Card - this is for some other video cards, I dont need that right?
Intel HD Graphics Family_Intel Ivy Bridge - now what is this? Does any1 know, so that I decide if I will use it?
Synaptics Touchpad - that's my touchpad
    Intel N2230 Wireless LAN
Qualcomm WLAN Killer N1202+ Bluetooth - Is this like the above case with video graphics, just need to choose 1 of them for Bigfoot killer, or both? Which one should I choose?
Intel Rapid Storage Technology - no idea what this is for and if I need to install it... so what is it?
Intel Management Engine - what is this?
    Camera - it's clear duh
Intel USB 3.0 driver - for my USB 3.0 ports?
Radio Switch - what is this?
Intel RAID - and this? do I need it? I don't do enhancenements with software.. so
    UTILITY
Cyberlink PowerDVD 10 Blu-ray patch - so I need this to play BluRay?
    SCM
SCM (Only for Windows 8 upgraded from Windows 7.) - I know this is screen contrl manager but do I really need it? Can't I do - disable.enable wifi, bluetooth etc from Win8 without it? I think I won't use it
NVidia VGA OC - this I would need only if I am to overclock my videocard, right?  (which I won't do). So is my 675MX using the 4GB since total memory when you see specs shows 1664MB and I think it is dedicated?
Keyboard LED Manager - that's for the lights of the keyboard, ofc I would use that
    THX AP
THX EQ - I see it is for the sound but is it something needed, what does it do?
If you could answer about those so that I know which ones I will exclude, would be great

Well, you don't know what SCM is. It's the System Control Manager. It is the most important tool at all. It is required for the system to work properly no hotkey will work without. Even e.g. enabling/disabling WLAN wouldn't work.

Radio Switch - what is this?
Bluetooth won't work in Windows 8 without the Radio Switch. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/hh450832(v=vs.85).aspx

The Intel lan driver is for the Intel lan, Qualcomm WLAN Killer N1202+ Bluetooth is for the additional Killer NIC.

    Yes you need it, http://www.intel.de/content/www/us/en/architecture-and-technology/rapid-storage-technology.html

Intel Management Engine - what is this?
ME controls Intel hardware, such as chip sets, storage, and other components. There will be an unknown device if you won't install ME.

You need it if your notebook came with the optional Super Raid and before installing Win8.

Intel HD Graphics Family_Intel Ivy Bridge - now what is this? Does any1 know, so that I decide if I will use it?
It's the driver for the cpu's integrated gpu which is used for non-3D applications instead of the GeForce.

NVidia VGA OC - this I would need only if I am to overclock my videocard, right?
This is used to utilize the gpu's boost via the turbo button if using SCM as well. It doesn't allow any manual overclocking.

Heterogenous migration to Oracle is possible, but it depends on your kernel releases, oracle version, OS version also.
Maybe SAP Note 407314 can help ?

  • Upgrade & OS/DB-Migration - what first etc. ?

    Volker,
I have some questions, i have to perfom a migration (upgrade) from a 4.6C system to a ECC5 system. Probably the OS of the target system will also be changed (linux)
To my opinion I first have to upgrade from 4.6C to ECC5.0 and the do a heterogene systeem copy from ECC5.0 to ECC5.0 Correct me if I a wrong
Is it possible to upgrade directly from 4.6C tot ECC5.0. What SAP tools and pdf documents do I have to use
    cheers
    Richard

    Hi Richard,
first of all I moved this new reply to a new topic as it has not too much to do with the old threat.
    Then to your question:
To move from iSeries to Linux is a heterougenious systemcopy or called Migradtion as well. There the SAP release stays always the same. To do this migration, you need a special for this trained consultant with the migration certificate where are about 1000 worldwide do exist like me.
The upgrade from 4.6C to ECC 5 or 6 is in both cases a single step upgrade. But then the OS & DB stays the same.
=> You do have 2 steps in front of you.
As you might have an old iSeries and do not want to invest in iSeries any more, it might be advisable to buy a new, big & fast Linux server (where you have to select the DB of your choice too (DB2, MaxDB or Oracle)) first and then do the migration first.
On this new & fast hardware you then would do the upgrade to ECC 5 or 6.
You could do it vice versa as well, but the runtime will be a lot longer then.
Are you still on EBCDIC ?
If yes, it would be advisable to migrate first, as the upgrade on iSeries requires ASCII and this would mean one extra step, that would disappear with a first migration.
You should keep in mind in all these steps, that the OS & DB changes and you neednew skills !!!! Most customers do not have these new skills on the new platform - especially not with the large DB sizes of SAP databases like 300 GB ... => you need a good consultant of the target platform and need a lot of training for you and your basis collegues.
You see, that the idea of you (or your manager) is very interesting, but not totally easy. Therefore this would need some consultancy in my eyes ...

  • I don't have an HP printer any more, but Apple keeps trying to update my HP drivers, etc.  Is there some way I can fix software update to avoid this?

Very minor problem:  Software update keeps wanting to update my HP printer drivers; I don't have an HP printer any more, and I don't want to waste either the time or the space.  How do I tell the software update program I'm not interested in this particular item?

Is the printer still mentioned in System Prefs?

    Hi:
You should be able to use most of the W7 x64 drivers and software from the HP Probook 450 G2 on your model except the BIOS and firmware files.

  • R/3 Enterprise migration required to migrate EP 6.0 SP2?

We currently have R/3 Entprise Core 4.7 installed, w/Ext Set 1.10, and are running Enterprise Portal 6.0 SP2 with the J2EE 6.20 Engine.
Can we install Netweaver 2004s and migrate EP 6.0 SP2 to the current release (in order to take advantage of the Web Dynpro for ABAP and Visual Compose tools) without migrating R/3 Enterprise to mySAP ERP?
    Thanks,
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
You can upgrade the portal with out upgrading the R/3 enterprise.  Note, that you can't go directly from EP6 sp2  to NW 2004s.   You have to migrate to NW04 and then perform the upgrade to NW 2004s.  Check the portal migration home page at http://service.sap.com/nw-epmig
    Good Luck,
    John
