Heterogenous migration to Oracle is possible, but it depends on your kernel releases, oracle version, OS version also.
Maybe SAP Note 407314 can help ?

  • Migration Requirements - drivers etc?

    Hi
What software will I need to download to do a SQL server 2008 to oracle 11g express migration?
I have already downloaded SQL oracle developer and the Oracle Workbech. Will I need to download a driver to? Where can I find the latest?
I am using Windows 2008 server.
    Thanks
    Jan

    Jan,
To make the connection from SQL*Developer to the SQL*Server database you will need to download a third party JDBC driver.
This is described in the documentation available from here -
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E35137_01/index.htm
    Oracle® SQL Developer
    User's Guide Release 3.2
    In the section -
    Database: Third Party JDBC Drivers
    Database: Third Party JDBC Drivers
The Third Party JDBC Drivers pane specifies drivers to be used for connections to third-party (non-Oracle) databases, such as IBM DB2, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, or Sybase Adaptive Server. (You do not need to add a driver for connections to Microsoft Access databases.) To add a driver, click Add Entry and select the path for the driver:
■For IBM DB2: the db2jcc.jar and db2jcc_license_cu.jar files, which are available from IBM
■For MySQL: a file with a name similar to mysql-connector-java-5.0.4-bin.jar, in a directory under the one into which you unzipped the download for the MySQL driver
■For Microsoft SQL Server or Sybase Adaptive Server: jtds-1.2.jar, which is included in the jtds-1.2-dist.zip download
■For Teradata: tdgssconfig.jar and terajdbc4.jar, which are included (along with a readme.txt file) in the TeraJDBC__indep_indep.12.00.00.110.zip or TeraJDBC__indep_indep.12.00.00.110.tar download
    Alternative:
As an alternative to using this preference, you can click Help, then Check for Updates to install the JTDS JDBC Driver for Microsoft SQL Server and the MySQL JDBE Driver as extensions.
To find a specific third-party JDBC driver, see the appropriate website (for example, http://www.mysql.com for the MySQL Connector/J JDBC driver for MySQL, http://jtds.sourceforge.net/ for the jTDS driver for Microsoft SQL Server and Sybase Adaptive Server, or search at http://www.teradata.com/ for the JDBC driver for Teradata). For MySQL, use the MySQL 5.0 driver, not 5.1 or later, with SQL Developer release 1.5.
You must specify a third-party JDBC driver or install a driver using the Check for Updates feature before you can create a database connection to a third-party database of that associated type. (See the tabs for creating connections to third-party databases in the Create/Edit/Select Database Connection dialog box.)

  • R/3 Enterprise migration required to migrate EP 6.0 SP2?

We currently have R/3 Entprise Core 4.7 installed, w/Ext Set 1.10, and are running Enterprise Portal 6.0 SP2 with the J2EE 6.20 Engine.
Can we install Netweaver 2004s and migrate EP 6.0 SP2 to the current release (in order to take advantage of the Web Dynpro for ABAP and Visual Compose tools) without migrating R/3 Enterprise to mySAP ERP?
    Thanks,
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
You can upgrade the portal with out upgrading the R/3 enterprise.  Note, that you can't go directly from EP6 sp2  to NW 2004s.   You have to migrate to NW04 and then perform the upgrade to NW 2004s.  Check the portal migration home page at http://service.sap.com/nw-epmig

    Hi,
Pl. populate the following open interfaces from your legacy data and then run the 'Autoinvoice Master Program'
    (1) RA_INTERFACE_LINES_ALL
    (2) ra_interface_distributions_all
For open invoices the AR_PAYMENT_SCHEDULES_ALL.STATUS sholuld be equal to 'OP' .

  • Confuse on PR & PO data migration approach new to MM module

    Hi All,
I'm pretty confuse with the PO data migration approach when it comes to PO is GR or partial GR or GR&IR. I'm hoping that someone can enlighten me. i understand that we typically don't migrate PO when it is GR & IR, FI team usually will bring over to the new system as an vendor open item in AP. How about the PR or PO which have gone through or half release strategy? What is the follow up process?  I have created a criteria table below. How Could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

    Regards,
    John

    Hi John,
The approach that i have followed recently is that we have considered PO as the base document and converted other documents based on the PO condition. This means you first need to see if the PO is to be converted or not. Then you can proceed to convert the related documents like PR, Agreement, Info record, Source list, etc.
Also open qty for PO should be considered for Material and Service line items both.
Once a GR/SES is created, it gets updated in the PO history table EKBE with its related transaction/event type.i.e. EKBE-VGABE = 1 for GR and 9 for SES. Quantity and value also gets updated in case of material and services. You can compare this consumed quantities with PO quantity.
Please see below from SCN and let me know if you need more info on PR or PO conversion.

  • Data Migration of FI-CA Cleared Items

    Hi,
Currently I am working on a Data Migration project to migrate data from our FI-CA  module on ERP 4.7 to ECC 6.0.
THere has been a request from the business to migrate historical data (e.g. Cleared items).
Is there a SAP recommended approach or tools to load this data into the target environment?
Currently all documentation around SAP data migrations talks about stategies for open item data migration however I have seen nothing arouund migrating historical financial data.
Is this because it is not recommended or technically impossible?
    Regards
    Adam Gunn

That BAPI is used typically for straight out vanilla GL, AR, AP postings, however you still have to create the other side of the entry and then clear it.
I need to be able to migrate full history, which means from an FI-CA  viewpoint:
    1. Migrate FI-CA posting of liability against BP/contract account.
    2. Migrate associated payments.
    3. And then clearing documents.
Basically the requirement is to represent the historical data in the new system as if it was posted and matched off.
Is there a technical way to do this?
    OR,
Do you migrate the FI-CA liabilties, then the associated payments and then run clearing on the target system?
I suspect this is almost an impossible data migration requirement as development of the extraction and load process would be extremely complex and testing would take months to cover all posting scenarios in FI-CA. However, I would be interested if anyone has attempted to do this before.

  • Server 2012 cluster - virtual machine live migration does not work

    Hi,
We have a hyper-v cluster with two nodes running Windows Server 2012. All the configurations are identical.
When I try to make a Live migration from one node to the other I get an error message saying:
Live migration of 'Virtual Machine XXXXXX' failed.
I get no other error messages, not even in event viewer. This same happens with all of our virtual machines.
A normal Quick migration works just fine for all of the virtual machines, so network configuration should not be an issue.
The above error message does not provide much information.

    Hi,
Please check whether your configuration meet live migration requirement:
Two (or more) servers running Hyper-V that:
    Support hardware virtualization.
    Yes they support virtualization.
Are using processors from the same manufacturer (for example, all AMD or all Intel).
Both Servers are identical and brand new Fujitsu-Siemens RX300S7 with the same kind of processor (Xeon E5-2620).
Belong to either the same Active Directory domain, or to domains that trust each other.
Both nodes are in the same domain.
Virtual machines must be configured to use virtual hard disks or virtual Fibre Channel disks (no physical disks).
All of the vitual machines have virtual hard disks.
Use of a private network is recommended for live migration network traffic.
Have tried this, but does not help.
Requirements for live migration in a cluster:
Windows Failover Clustering is enabled and configured.
    Yes
Cluster Shared Volume (CSV) storage in the cluster is enabled.
    Yes
Requirements for live migration using shared storage:
All files that comprise a virtual machine (for example, virtual hard disks, snapshots, and configuration) are stored on an SMB share. They are all on the same CSV
Permissions on the SMB share have been configured to grant access to the computer accounts of all servers running Hyper-V.
Requirements for live migration with no shared infrastructure:
    No extra requirements exist.
Also please refer to this article to check whether you have finished all preparation works for live migration:

  • SQL*LOADER/SQL usage in Migration

I have very limited migration requirements. I DO NOT need to
migrate a database. I DO need to change some SQL and BCP load
scripts from SQL-SERVER 6.5 to their equivalents in ORACLE 8.0.5.
For this limited purpose, should I proceed to handcode these, or
would the workbench be of use to me?
    Thanks for your help.
    null

The migration workbench does, as part of the migration,
generate the BCP and SQL*Loader files required to migrate a
database. However, since you already have the BCP files created
then the Workbench would not actually be able to just generate
the other side of the picture (the SQL*Loader files). I can
suggest the following to you :
    1. Perhaps use the Workbench to run a tiny migration that would
show you how we generate the SQL*Loader scripts. It is fairly
straight forward however we need to do some manipulation on
    dates.
    2. There is a chapter on SQL*Loader as part of the Oracle8i
    documentation set.

  • Migration.  Just some comments.

Ok, this is a dupe post.  Admins, if you want to pull this go ahead.  But, some things have to be out in the open before someone thinks this is the mother of all short cuts to EP6 SP9.
    I ranted:
    Swell,
Everyone read the docs on this? Hold on, it's going to hurt.
Make sure that your clients or bosses understand that there is a difference between migrating and upgrading.
If your company wants to have your SP2 Portal be converted to SP9 and still be on the same box, this tool is not for you.
    Why? Here's a quote:
Switch of DB (EP5.0/EP6.0) or OS (EP6.0 only) is not possible during migration when using the migration tools! Switching of DB or OS is made possible using SAP tool Java System Copy.
Usage of Java System Copy has to be registered at SAP!
    Further reading states:
Migration requires setting up of a new EP 6.0 on Web AS 6.40 system. After migration, the source server can be shut down.
Not only that, your portal AND KM must be at SP2 PATCH 5.
What does this all mean? There is still no upgrade tool. Your Portal is being migrated to another server. OK, let's just say that you wanted to upgrade your hardware anyway. Your EP6 SP2 Portal needs to get beefed for future growth so lets go with Windows 2003 Enterprise so you can use more than 4 gig of RAM. Well, we can't do that either. With the migration tool you can only go from OS to OS. If you are at Windows 2000, you stay at Windows 2000. Only after migration you upgrade your OS and pray the Portal makes it.
Am I bitter? No, I just want fellow IT grunts like myself get a heads up on this. If you are not running NW04 on your production box, someone is going to ask you about the migration tool. Be informed. Don't back yourself into a corner and let clients or bosses think that this is the easy path to get to EP6 SP9. This is not a one size fits all solution. As soon as they are educated to what the migration tool does and does not do, you maybe surprised on what they end up wanting.
What are we doing? Rapid Installer 2.0
Yes, I may be re doing all of my systems again, but I am only loading my OS once. Dev Portal is first. Once done we switch LDAP pointers to our real users (ADS is a wonderful thing) and redirect calls from Production to the Dev Portal. End users see no changes to the portal. The only difference is the SSL alert that we are using an internal CA. Production is next. Once done everything is switched back. End users see no changes, but now the SSL alert is gone because we are now using an external CA again.
Oh yeah, were you thinking of migrating your SSL certs? Think again.........
I think I might start to blog some of this stuff. I think I have come across the majority of the errors in Portals at one time or another. My many mistakes just might make life easier for some poor soul on the other side of the planet. Call it a Karma recharge. God knows I have lost my Religion more than once on Portals.
    /rant

Just by reading the documentation, I knew it was not an option.
You are correct in saying that looking at the problem from and SAP stand point that the migration is not a big deal.  It all comes down to the operating system.  As I look at two different portals now, one W2k EP6 SP2 and one W2K3 EP6 SP9 there are differences on the OS level.  The registry entries are different and in different locations.  File permissions and groups are different. IIS is different.
The problem is not SAP, they are delivering what they say.  This is a migration tool to move the portal to EP6 SP9.  And under controlled environments I am sure that it works.
I just feel that techs like myself have to advised understand the conditions that the tool works under before they make promises to clients and bosses they can't keep.
This tool migrates the portal to another server and the OS must be the same.  That sums up what is in the documentation.
If your clients or bosses think that this is an "upgrade" tool.  It is not.  It is a source to target migration.

  • Requirement of keeping the Path field BLANK of HTTP_AAE Channel in NW PO 7.31

    Hi ,
We are in a phase of migrating Interfaces from PI 7.1 to PO 7.31(Java Only).
For one of the Interface in PI 7.1 there is a RFC Destination for vendor communication through HTTPS connectivity  :
    Target-Host: IP Address
    Post: value
    Path Prefix: Blank
During migration  requirement is to keep the Path field BLANK of the Communication Channel, however since  PO has mandatory path field   a "/" is been provided, because of which data post fails.
    PI:  https://IP:9443
PO:  https://IP:9443/  (Since Path Prefix is mandatory)
As per my understanding The data is supposed to be posted directly to the IP (https://IP:9443) however it is getting posted to (https://IP:9443/) where the service is not available.  For reference have attached relevant screenshots.
Is there any way to provide Blank value, omit the Path Field of HTTP_AAE Receiver adapter. Need ardent support and suggestions
    regarding this.

    Komal,
I tried the regular expression on my system which is PI 7.30 SP 8 Patch Level 45. And it worked for me.
I have used a simple check for alphabets.

  • Migration from Access to Oracle through SQL developer

    Hi,
I want to migrate an mdb file which contains a set of tables to oracle. During this process, i have created schema and all the tables in Oracle using DDL scripts. I would like to transfer only the data to Oracle from access through SQL developer. How can I do that?
    Regards,
    Meena

    Hi Meena,
You mention that you have created the schema and tables in Oracle using DDL scripts. Did you use the Oracle SQL Developer Migration Workbench, creating a Migration Repository, to carry out this process? I see from your other postings that you are experiencing issues using the Exporter tool, which would lead me to believe that you haven't used the Migration Workbench to migrate your database. Obviously you will need to resolve your Exporter issues before you can proceed to the next phase of the migration process. I will aim to assist you with those issues on the seperate thread - ShowSplashScreen("_OracleSplashScreen",3) error The XML file generated by the Exporter tool forms the basis of your MS Access migration.
In order to migrate your data from MS Access to Oracle using the Migrate Data option in Oracle SQL Developer, you will need to have access to the Migration Repository used for the migration of the MS Access database. The information contained in the Converted Model, in the Migration Repository, is used during the data migration process. The data migration requires the following connections:
    1. a source database connection i.e. a database connection to the MS Access MDB file
    2. a target database connection i.e. a database connection to the migration Oracle schema
    3. a Converted Model connection
For further information on the creation of a Migration Repository, and the migration process, please refer to the accompanying documentation available via the online Help within Oracle SQL Developer, and also from OTN - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10405_01/doc/nav/portal_booklist.htm.
    I hope this helps.

  • Event Logs of VMs Migration in Failover Cluster of Hyper-V Hosts

    Hello All,
We're running Failover Cluster of Hyper-V hosts of Windows Server 2012 R2. Using SCVMM 2012 R2 with UR5 for management.
If any host gets down unexpectedly (due to any reason power/bugcheck/hardware failure or what so ever), then the VMs on that host, of course, get migrated (either quick or live) to some other host within the cluster.
I want to have logs/events of this VMs migration. I want to know that which of the VMs were residing on that host at that time of failure. Of course, we can't have this info in the Cluster events is Failover Cluster Manager. I am unable to find this info
anywhere. I have searched in Event Viewer --> Administrative Roles --> Hyper-V. I have searched a lot in the SCVMM, but no success.
Please help me in finding the exact location of these logs/events. I would also like to know that if the VM was quick migrated or live migrated, and to which host the VM got migrated.
    I'd be highly grateful.
    Thanks in anticipation.
    Regards,
    Hasan Bin Hasib

This post was cross-posted in the clustering forum.  As noted in that forum, a failure of a host does not initiate a quick or live migration.  Migration requires both the source and destination nodes be operational during the entire migration
process.  Should a host fail, it is impossible for that host to participate in a migration.  In the case of a host failure, the VM is restarted on another node of the cluster.  You can still use the information provided by Elton for viewing
events in the event log.  If you want to see the exact sequence of log entries, perform quick/live migrations in a lab and notices the changes in the event log.  You can also fail a host and see the sequence of log entries.

  • HFM Migration from 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.3

I have to migrate HFM production application from 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.3.
Please provide steps for the same?

    Hi there,
The basic steps as provided by Oracle are:
Apply the maintenance release to Release 11.1.1.4
Use the upgrade application to upgrade to Release 11.1.2.3.
Each migration requires specific steps, so in order to understand the process I would suggest to refer to chapter 11: Upgrading EPM System products http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E40248_01/epm.1112/epm_install.pdf
