Migration sharepoint portals

Presently our client have the MOSS 2007 and 2003 Portal and they want to migrate those sites in to MOSS 2010 in Different Environment. So, We need
to show case something to that client. Please anyone have idea on the same, please let us know. It's very urgent.

At a high level, the following steps need to be taken:
- content needs to be moved (by moving the db's themselves, or individual site collections, or a 3rd party migration tool).
- user accounts need to be re-ACLed
- an inventory must be made and a plan for upgrading customizations
- a plan must be made to upgrade various sharepoint services
This is high level advice, if there is something specific...?
Kind regards,

  • Best way to migrate SharePoint 2003 data into SQL Server 2008

    Hi Experts,
I am planning to migrate data from SharePoint 2003 into SQL Server 2008. After the migration SharePoint site will be deleted in couple of months and then that data will be feed into .Net Front end application
    1) What is the best and easy way to do it?
    2) Is there any way to automate the migration process? i.e. If a new record gets entered into SharePoint it should be populated into SQL Server 2008.
    3) Any other suggestions
    Thanks,
    John

    Dear John,
If it's just a few lists, and you just want to import them "as-is" then it should be possible to do so ... and survive to tell the about it ;-)
Generally speaking, You will need to write a small process (program or script) to read/parse each list and check if the item(s) are in the target table (I assuming that there is a distinct table as target
for each list, and that each list has 'something" you can use to distinct each row), if it's not there, the just add them according to your needs.
Then just rerun the process periodically and it would keep your databases up to date (you could even set ti up to update those records that have changes, but that would delay your process significantly)
What i just described is doable, and not TOO complicated, it could be done i a lot different ways, and with different alternatives of programming/scripting languages. for sure you can do it in any flavor
of .net language, and even powershell.
As I mentioned, this is speaking in general, the actual implementation would depend on your specific needs and the kind of data that you have/need to keep.
    Best Regards / Saludos, Marianok

  • Migration of portal content from EP 6.0 SP 15 to NW 2004s Portal

    Hi,
Our requirement here is to migrate Portal content from EP version 6.0 SP15 to the latest Netweaver portla (NW2004s). Expecting helpful suggestions from SAP EP gurus!!!
All helpful answers will be rewarded. Gurus, please help!!!
    Cheers,
    L Buegg.

    Leena,
These are the steps in migrating the portal content from the EP 6 SP15 to the Netweaver Portal (EP 7.0 or the NW 2004s Portal) in simple:
    1. Go to <b>System Administration -> Transport -> Portal Content</b>. Right click on the folder, you wish to transport. Select <b>New -> Transport Package</b> .
    2. Fill all the details (like name of the transport package, id etc) and then add the objects(iViews, Pages etc) you wish to transport to the newly created transport package by right clicking on the objects.
    3. Once the objects are all added, click on Export in the object editor of the Transport package and the export happens immediately.
    4. Navigate to Drive\usr\SAP\SID_Instance\Sys\global\pcd\Export of the EP 6 SP 15 Portal Server. You will see the epa file created during this export process.
    5. Copy this epa file and place it in Drive\usr\SAP\SID_Instance\Sys\global\pcd\Import folder structure of the NW 2004s Portal Server. Go to <b>System Administration -> Transport -> Import</b> and do the import as you would import any business package.
This are the steps to export and import the portal content from one portal server to another portal server.
    Hope this helps!!!
    Sunitha.

  • What is the best way to migrate SharePoint 2007 to 2013?

    HI All,
I would like to migrate SharePoint 2007 to 2013, may i know the easiest way to migrate? Thanks in advance

    Hi,
“You cannot upgrade directly from the server products in the Office 2007 release to SharePoint 2013. The changes between versions are too great, and the hardware requirements differ so much between versions that a direct upgrade is not possible
or supported. However, you can perform a series of database-attach upgrades to first upgrade your content to SharePoint 2010 Products and then to SharePoint 2013. This article describes how to perform these sequential database-attach upgrades.”
Agree with Jesper, and here are the links for your reference:

  • Can we migrate SharePoint Designer 2013 workflows from DEV to UAT to Live without any issues? Any bad experiences?

    Hi there,
    1. Can we migrate SharePoint Designer 2013 workflows from DEV to UAT to Live without any issues? Any bad experiences?
    2. When we deploy these workflows - does IIS need a restart?
    Thank you.

That depends, did you create reusable workflows? Those can be deployed to another environment (of course depending on dependencies within the workflow itself)

  • SharePoint Plugin for SharePoint Portal Server version 2007

We are running SES 10.1.8.2 and are trying to use the SharePoint content source plug-in to connect to and index sites running on SharePoint Portal Server version 2007. The 10.1.8.2 Administrator's Guide states the connector supports SharePoint Portal Server 2003 (page 111). Is there a patch or upgrade available for SES that will make the SES 10.1.8.2 SharePoint plugg-in work with SharePoint 2007?

  • Displaying BPF listing within a SharePoint portal

    All,
Are there any standard SAP/BPC webparts that would display a list of reports or business process flows within a SharePoint portal?  Currently, I have taken to chopping up the various .js files and embedding them into our portal, but that functionality requires control of the BODY tag and onLoad events.  I know I could continue to work around this issue, but ideally an officially supported webpart with BPC functionality would make the long term solution more supportable.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
Since this issue is more related to SharePoint, I'm moving it to a SharePoint forum:
    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/home?forum=sharepointcustomization
The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most

It's recommended to download and install
Configuration Analyzer Tool (OffCAT), which is developed by Microsoft Support teams. Once the tool is installed, you can run it at any time to scan for hundreds of known issues in Office

  • MS SharePoint Portal server  2003

    Hi,
Does any body tried to use Lifecycle policy server with Share Point portal server document management system? I will appreciate any feedback.
    Anna

    Anna,
What kind of integration do you want? MS SharePoint Portal Sever (SPP), as "out of the box" is not configured to manage PDF files. Also, you can add the file type in the SPP to allow document upload.
But, if you want to search into the PDF files, you must use the "Adobe PDF ifilter", you can download from Adobe's web site.
I'm not really sure if installing and configuring the ifilter will allow to search the documents. I think it should, but if you need to search specific pdf content, maybe a webpart is required.
The files encrypted with PS, that means every pdf file that has a policy applied, are not subject to search with the ifilter. I think you need to integrate the PS API to do this. Right now i'm trying to do so, if succeed i let you know.
    Hope it helps.

  • Remove bad dll reference after content data migration sharepoint 2007 - sharepoint 2010

I have 400 subsites under one root site and we need to remove one DLL reference from default.aspx Home page of each sub site.
    Assmbly ref like this.
    <%@ Register TagPrefix="WpNs0" Namespace="DS.DSQueryWebPart" Assembly="DS.DSQueryWebPart, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=709ed70a96eaa5cb"%>
This assmebly is not used anywhere .
This assembly is reflecting in subsite default.aspx after the content database migration sharepoint 2007 to sharepoint 2010.
Is there any way we can remove this bad reference through database query or any other way around
    sarav

    Hi,
If are sure that this is the only customization in the default.aspx page, then you can safely  go into Site Settings -> Site Actions -> Reset to site definition -> Select Reset specific page to site definition version and enter the default.aspx
page url. This will replace the customized page with the original site definition page. The process can be automated using PowerShell/C# Code. Here is an example:
using (SPSite site = new SPSite("http://aissp2013/sites/Team/"))
       foreach(SPWeb web in site.AllWebs)
      using(web)
      SPFile file = web.GetFile(web.Url + "/default.aspx");
      if (file.Exists)
      file.RevertContentStream();
The main part here is to get hold of the default.aspx file and use RevertContentStream() to reset it to site definition page.
However, if there are other customizations as well, then you will need to get hold of the Project or WSP file and remove the reference there and then run update-spsolution powershell command to update to new WSP.
    Thanks,
    Nadeem

  • Oracle Access Manager - Sharepoint Portal Server 2007 integration

Does anyone know a proper documentation link for OAM-Sharepoint portal integration. We have followed pretty much the same steps provided on OTN site. No luck, integration is not working.
Our OAM is listening to OVD for the user data which at the backend is pointed to AD whereas sharepoint is listening to AD for authentication.
we also tried custom http module to read the headervar and authorize the user (steps provided by asp .net - siteminder integration). It was authenticating the user, but some links were missing and when clicked on peoples and group link it says access denied for this user. Dunno where exactly we are doing wrong.
Does OAM which is listening to OVD for user data supports OAM-Sharepoint integration?
Any help on this would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!

Since you are getting "Welcome unknown" then there's definitely something wrong with the configuration you have done for the integrated windows authentication and impersonation. It has nothing to do with the user store, OVD should work perfectly fine.
If you are using 10g I suggest you
    1. check the event viewer to see if your impersonation is working correctly. you should see logins to the system by impersonation user as well as the user you are trying to login with. See http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12530_01/oam.1014/e10356/shrpprtl.htm#CHDFGBFC
    2. check if you have given all the necessary permissions to the impersonation user. See http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12530_01/oam.1014/e10356/shrpprtl.htm#CHDHGIJA
    3. Test the impersonation on some other site on IIS rather than Sharepoint
Once your impersonation works you would have all the accesses which that user is entitled to in the Sharepoint.
    Hope this helps,
    Sagar
