Migration to new G/L
Hi gurus;
Does anyone have a clear idea about migration? Does Migration from classic G/L to new G/L mean that
transferring of only open items and the balance carry forward for prior years from migration date
and all items for the migration year to new G/L ? Or does it depend on the migration scenario you purchase?
We are at a test stage of migration for the time being and I hope we have done something wrong to achieve this result. What is in our hands is merely frustration. I would have hoped that I can see the balance of all G/L accounts for the prior years from migration just like the view FS10N especially after paying (the cost is not nuts) for this service.
I would like to hear from someone else that this is the case after migration or I would have been very pleased to hear that I can see the balance of all G/L accounts for prior years from migration and thus have done something wrong in the migration cockpit.
Thanks and regards,
Gökçen.

This is the FAQ's about the new GL migration.
There are some very useful questions and answers, and this should help you with the planning of your project.
https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=1070629&nlang=EN&smpsrv=https%3a%2f%2fwebsmp101%2esap-ag%2ede
Here are some useful Q & A's
17. Is it possible to upgrade to ECC5.0 or ECC6.0 and migrate from the classic General Ledger to the new General Ledger in the same fiscal year?
If you intend to use document splitting in the new General Ledger, activate the function for validating the document splitting in your productive system before the migration date. This means that you should upgrade to ECC 6.0 in one fiscal year, activate document split validation before the end of that fiscal year and migrate to the new General Ledger in the next fiscal year.
If you do not plan to use document splitting in the new General Ledger, you can upgrade to ECC5.0 or ECC6.0 and migrate to the new General Ledger in the same fiscal year.
Keep in mind that the function for validating document splitting is not available in ECC5.0.
24. How should I check data consistency in the classic General Ledger before the beginning of the first test migration?
To check data consistency in the classic General Ledger before the beginning of the first test migration, proceed as follows:
1) Program RFINDEX
Execute the program RFINDEX twice.
In the first run, choose "Documents vs Indexes" in the selection screen.
In the second run, choose "Indexes vs Documents" in the selection screen.
For more information, see the program documentation.
If the program finds any differences, create a message on SAP Service Marketplace under the component FI-GL-GL-X.
2) Program SAPF190
Run program SAPF190 for the fiscal year prior to the migration and for the fiscal year in which the migration takes place.
If the program finds any differences, create a message on SAP Service Marketplace under the component FI-GL-GL-X.
3) Program RAABST02
If you use Asset Accounting, run program RAABST02.
If the program finds any differences, create a message on SAP Service Marketplace under the component FI-AA-AA-B.
4) Program RCOPCA44
If you use Profit Center Accounting, run program RCOPCA44.
If the program finds any differences, see SAP Note 81374.
Remove all inconsistencies before you start the first test migration
29. Which parts of Customizing must already exist in the production system on the migration date?
If you use document splitting in ECC 6.0, we recommend that you activate the validation of document splitting in the production system at the latest on the migration date. This means that the new General Ledger including document splitting must be completely configured in the production system on the migration date and that all interfaces and ALE scenarios must be adjusted accordingly.
This does not apply to ECC 5.0 because the validation of document splitting is not available in ECC 5.0.
If you do not intend to use document splitting or if you use Release ECC 5.0, you can transport Customizing of the new General Ledger to the productive system after the migration date.
The indicator "New General Ledger Accounting Is Active" is transported with other basic settings of the new General Ledger in table FAGL_ACTIVEC. Ensure that the indictor "New General Ledger Accounting Is Active" is not set when you transport it to the production system.
30. When drawing up the project plan, what must I consider if I want to use document splitting?
We recommend that you activate document splitting validation at the latest on the migration date.
The new General Ledger including document splitting must be completely and finally configured before you activate document
Hope everything helps in migration new GL functionality

The keyword is "migration." Migrating or copying files for Adobe applications usually does not work. Not all of the necessary subsidiary files are copied to the right location.

Migration to new GL and usage of cash basis accounting
Hi,
We are working in ECC6 enhancement pack 4 and are planning to migrate to new general ledger.
My understanding from note 1558185 is that since cash basis accounting requires the use of a parallel ledger, this functionality is available for new client with new installation in new GL and not not for existing client that are migrating to new GL.
Migration with scenario 4 5 7 8 is not yet adapted for cash basis ledger.
Is this correct ?
Kind Regards
SophieI could not see anything in note which prevents to maintain on cash basis in note 1558185
Usually the ledger are maintained on based on different types of valuation like IFRS, US GAAP, UK GAAP and IAS etc.
Whereas, cash and accrual basis is the way of accounting. Nothing will be prevented to post journals using FB50L.
But, how will you restrict the accrual documents raised through the transaction codes other than FB40L.
Question: Does all other companies / organisations will follow the cash accounting in your industry? -
Migration to new g/l with migration cockpit
Dear all,
we need to describe to our customer the scenario related to migration to new g/l with migration cockpit; new g/l will be implemented this year and the customer will use the old sap till may 2015; then we will need to migrate data from old accounting to new g/l. I don' t know the tool 'migration cockpit', some of you can describe me which are the steps related to the migration with 'migration cockpit'?
thanks.

Issue in SQL-server migration to new domain
Hello,
I have a scenario, where i need to migrate SQL 2005 servers db's ( around 30, small ones) to new server in a new domain. Destinationserver is 2012 R2, running SQL2014
Domains have trust between them, and users have already been migrated to new domain. Users are using the databases with NT authing from the new domain (new logins & users have been created to old sql-server).
I have backed up db's from old server and restored them in new server. After that, i restored logins with following article's script:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918992
I cleaned from the login script logins that are not in use, change the domainname to new in CREATE LOGIN phase (for the users who did not have already login from new domain) and the script ran without errors.
User Mappings are like they should be on logins, however, the user & schema names are indicating to old domain. If i try to change them, i receive error about SID mismatch. This affects also users, who have already had new logins for new domain, their
usernames on mappings are also changed to old domain's username. What is causing this?Hi,
Could you try the following to migrate the logins and check the result?
1. You may drop all the windows login. Modify the script generated by sp_help_revlogin step and replace create login
to drop login.
2. Use the script generated by sp_help_revlogin step to create
Logins. Modify login name to accommodate new domain name.
3. Grant server level roles using the output from:
Generate Server level role related info :
SELECT 'EXEC sp_addsrvrolemember ''' +
p.name + ''' , ''' + r.name + ''';'
FROM
sys.server_principals r
INNER JOIN sys.server_role_members m ON r.principal_id = m.role_principal_id
INNER JOIN sys.server_principals p ON
p.principal_id = m.member_principal_id
WHERE
r.type ='R'
Sample Output :-
EXEC sp_addsrvrolemember 'sa' , 'sysadmin';
4. Map the SIDS using below command for all DB by using ALTER USER. For example:
ALTER USER [DomainA\UserA] with login = [DomainB\UserA]

Migration to new macbook aluminum
I have recently purchased the latest macbook and its a happy upgrade from my ibook g4. My current problem is when doing the original migration over the wireless network after many hours, the connection failed. I then went to attempt the process again however this time via ethernet. When I went to do this, I was not prompted with the original page that asked to transfer from an old mac and went straight into the set up.
So my question is now that i have a set up macbook how do I do the migration from my old ibook?I would love to get the basics of music, pictures and documents from my old machine.
Thanks so much!!You can, but I would suggest you simply transfer the files manually over the network. There are some caveats to consider when moving from a PPC to an Intel Mac. See the following FAQ:
A Basic Guide for Migrating to Intel-Macs
If you are migrating a PowerPC system (G3, G4, or G5) to an Intel-Mac be careful what you migrate. Keep in mind that some items that may get transferred will not work on Intel machines and may end up causing your computer's operating system to malfunction.
Rosetta supports "software that runs on the PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor that are built for Mac OS X". This excludes the items that are not universal binaries or simply will not work in Rosetta:
Classic Environment, and subsequently any Mac OS 9 or earlier applications
Screensavers written for the PowerPC
System Preference add-ons
All Unsanity Haxies
Browser and other plug-ins
Contextual Menu Items
Applications which specifically require the PowerPC G5
Kernel extensions
Java applications with JNI (PowerPC) libraries
See also What Can Be Translated by Rosetta.
In addition to the above you could also have problems with migrated cache files and/or cache files containing code that is incompatible.
If you migrate a user folder that contains any of these items, you may find that your Intel-Mac is malfunctioning. It would be wise to take care when migrating your systems from a PowerPC platform to an Intel-Mac platform to assure that you do not migrate these incompatible items.
If you have problems with applications not working, then completely uninstall said application and reinstall it from scratch. Take great care with Java applications and Java-based Peer-to-Peer applications. Many Java apps will not work on Intel-Macs as they are currently compiled. As of this time Limewire, Cabos, and Acquisition are available as universal binaries. Do not install browser plug-ins such as Flash or Shockwave from downloaded installers unless they are universal binaries. The version of OS X installed on your Intel-Mac comes with special compatible versions of Flash and Shockwave plug-ins for use with your browser.
The same problem will exist for any hardware drivers such as mouse software unless the drivers have been compiled as universal binaries. For third-party mice the current choices are USB Overdrive or SteerMouse. Contact the developer or manufacturer of your third-party mouse software to find out when a universal binary version will be available.
Also be careful with some backup utilities and third-party disk repair utilities. Disk Warrior 4.1, TechTool Pro 4.6.1, SuperDuper 2.5, and Drive Genius 2.0.2 work properly on Intel-Macs with Leopard. The same caution may apply to the many "maintenance" utilities that have not yet been converted to universal binaries. Leopard Cache Cleaner, Onyx, TinkerTool System, and Cocktail are now compatible with Leopard.
Before migrating or installing software on your Intel-Mac check MacFixit's Rosetta Compatibility Index.

Transferring data with Setup Assistant - Migration Assistant FAQ
Because Migration Assistant isn't the ideal way to migrate from PowerPC to Intel Macs, using Target Disk Mode, copying the critical contents to CD and DVD, an external hard drive, or networking
will work better when moving from PowerPC to Intel Macs. The initial section below discusses Target Disk Mode. It is then followed by a section which discusses networking with Macs that lack Firewire.
If both computers support the use of Firewire then you can use the following instructions:
1. Repair the hard drive and permissions using Disk Utility.
2. Backup your data. This is vitally important in case you make a mistake or there's some other problem.
3. Connect a Firewire cable between your old Mac and your new Intel Mac.
4. Startup your old Mac in Target Disk Mode.
5. Startup your new Mac for the first time, go through the setup and registration screens, but do NOT migrate data over. Get to your desktop on the new Mac without migrating any new data over.
If you are not able to use a Firewire connection (for example you have a Late 2008 MacBook that only supports USB:)
1. Set up a local home network: Creating a small Ethernet Network.
2. If you have a MacBook Air or Late 2008 MacBook see the following:

Copy the following items from your old Mac to the new Mac:
In your /Home/ folder: Documents, Movies, Music, Pictures, and Sites folders.
In your /Home/Library/ folder:
/Home/Library/Application Support/AddressBook (copy the whole folder)
/Home/Library/Application Support/iCal (copy the whole folder)
Also in /Home/Library/Application Support (copy whatever else you need including folders for any third-party applications)
/Home/Library/Keychains (copy the whole folder)
/Home/Library/Mail (copy the whole folder)
/Home/Library/Preferences/ (copy the whole folder)
/Home /Library/Calendars (copy the whole folder)
/Home /Library/iTunes (copy the whole folder)
/Home /Library/Safari (copy the whole folder)
If you want cookies:
/Home/Library/Cookies/Cookies.plist
/Home/Library/Application Support/WebFoundation/HTTPCookies.plist
For Entourage users:
Entourage is in /Home/Documents/Microsoft User Data
Also in /Home/Library/Preferences/Microsoft
Credit goes to Macjack for this information.
If you need to transfer data for other applications please ask the vendor or ask in the Discussions where specific applications store their data.
5. Once you have transferred what you need restart the new Mac and test to make sure the contents are there for each of the applications.

After migrating to new Mac iCal pop-up screen is mostly off screen and I can't seem to find a way to get it so that it pops up in the middle of the screen or anywhere else where I can see the whole thing.
This is a known bug which began to occur with the 10.4.8 update. I suggest you file a bug report with Apple. Its quite annoying and hopefully, the more people who contact Apple about it, the more importance they will give to fixing the problem.

Migration to new GL - blueprint
Dear all!
Does anyone have some kind of template for the blueprint for migration to new GL or knows where I could find something like that? I have to write it and I don't even know from where to start.
Please help!HI,
NewGl Migration is separate project and please refer the note 812919 and migration process.
Please send a mail and mail address is given in note no 812919 (mailding address is not suppose to mentioned in SDN)
Solution
To ensure maximum security, SAP supports each migration project with the
SAP General Ledger Migration migration service. This mandatory technical
service is based on standard migration scenarios and includes a
scenario-specific General Ledger Migration Cockpit and service sessions
to ensure the quality of the data and of the migration project. The
service sessions are provided by a NewGL migration back office, which
was specifically set up for this purpose.
After you commission the service, you are provided with the General
Ledger Migration Cockpit and the service sessions are delivered after
consultation.
The migration service contains the following functions:
a) General Ledger Migration Cockpit for executing the migration
- Process tree with scenario-based management by the individual
activities of the migration
- Monitor of the migration steps with status management
b) Remote service session to validate the scenario and analyze the
Page 2
system
- Possible consistency checks against target Customizing of the
new general ledger accounting
c) Remote service session to validate tests
- Technical validation checks in a test system after a data
migration
d) Development support by the NewGL migration back office
For more information about this migration service with a description of
the migration scenario, a migration guide and other useful information,
see SAP Service Marketplace at: http://service.sap.com/GLMIG
If you have any further questions about using this service, contact
NewGLMigration2sap.com.
Note that this service refers exclusively to support for the technical
migration of the data from the classic to the new general ledger.
You can also get consulting support for the business concepts and the
implementation of the new general ledger from your relevant subsidiary
or from qualified partners.
The customer is responsible for drawing up the blueprint and the concept
of the new general ledger including its integration with other
components, industry-specific and country-specific versions. The
customer, together with the consultants, must ensure that the
implementation functions correctly, and is supported by SAP. This check
is not part of the SAP General Ledger Migration migration service.
To access the site mentioned above, you require authorization for SAP
Service Marketplace and an S user ID. Contact your system administrator
regarding this.

Moderator: Please, search SDNDear Lakshmi,
Migration from classic GL to new GL can be possible if upgradation project is going on. It is not advisable to migrate from classic to new in between.
Please refer to note 812919.

Migration to new gl consolidation dimension subitem to be added
Hi,
We are currently working on the migration to new GL, we are using ECCS for consolidation.
For consolidation we plan to use scenario FIN_CONS and to use fields consolidation transaction type and trading partner.
We are also using field subitem for our consolidation reports (field SUBIT in table ECMCT) how can we have the information on this populated in our entended data structure (table FMGLFLEXT for public sector)
ThanksScummins,
1. You'll get the subitem from RMVCT (TType) and RASSC (Trading Partner).
2. These notes will be useful to you:
Note 1256119 - Integrating EC-CS consolidation with new general ledger
Note 1070629 - FAQs: New general ledger migration
3. As an addon, I'll suggest using rollup (way faster than periodic extracct).

After migrating a new Mac Book Pro from Time Capsule, I noticed that I lost a group of Favorites on the older iMac. The puzzling thing is that the Favorites are on my iPhone--not the old iMac or the new Mac Book Pro. How do I get the Favorites back?
If you are syncing using iCloud, try going to System Preferences/iCloud (computers) and checking Safari. If it is checked, try deselecting it, wait 10-15 seconds, and then check it again.

question: How do I open CS5.5 after migrating to new laptop w/ Mac OS 10.8.4? I received a dialogue box stating I needed to run Java SE runtime (or something to that effect), when I ok'd it, and try to open cs5.5 Indesign, the program quits on startup. If I uninstall program & reinstall, will my documents be unscathed, or are they toast? Help!
Hi Art Bunny Rabbit,
Migration from one machine to other causes problem most of the time. So I recommend you to reinstall the software. Done worry none of your documents will be effected.

Migrate to new Hardware ( RAC-2-RAC )
Dear all
We have a 4 node oracle 10g R2 RAC and want to migrate to new machines with database size of 2 Terabytes. We took a backup and restore it on the new machines and everything is ok. However, we planned to migrate in a week and I don't want to restore the whole database again. What concerns me is I have to open the database at the destination with resetlogs option.
My question is : What is the best way to keep the migration downtime minimum ? I want to restore a level 1 incremental only.
Thank you
KamyHi Kamy,
I will skip the backup part and restore controlfile part of you question I think you know how to do it.
If you copy your backup pieces to the new system you can use them to perform a restore/recovery (but do not open the database) in mount phase:
<
SET UNTIL TIME "TO_DATE('define_time','yyyy-mm-dd:hh24:mi:ss')";
restore database;
recover database;
>
For the next recovery step you can copy the newly created archivelogs (or the pieces containing the archivelogs) to the new system and apply them with
<
SET UNTIL TIME "TO_DATE('define_time','yyyy-mm-dd:hh24:mi:ss')";
recover database;
