Migration to Simple Finance downtime

Hi-
assuming that the preparatory steps for a migration to Simple Finance have been completed successfully and assuming a migration from Classic GL, how long approximately will the business downtime of the productive system be?
Best regards
Lutz

Hi Lutz,
You can expect a minimum of 24 hours of production system downtime.
For example, for an actual migration we did, we experienced the following figures:
Data transfer (93 millions rows): 50 mns
Data migration: 11h elapsed time
Overall the elapsed time repartition should roughly work out to be:
Technical install: 10%
GL -> new GL: 30%
sfin data migration: 50%
activate NAA: 10%
Hope it helps,
Arnaud

  • Is there a (supported) way of migrating regular ERP IDES system to HANA for use of Simple Finance?

We have installed a SAP ERP IDES system but we'd like to try out Simple Finance. We could do a fresh install of ERP but we like the demo data included in IDES system. Is there a simple SAP supported way of migrating our system (or data to be precise)?

No.  In down sampling with iTunes a new file is created and added to the library.  Most of the old data are preserved but some such as date added are created when the track is added.
Using a third party tool may achieve what you want because the new file could overwrite the old one.  I recall using a third party tool to edit a mp3 and overwrite the old file.  iTunes was tricked into thinking the replacement was still the original file, but of course the edits were in place.  I can't make a specific application recommendation for bulk conversion where it will overwrite the old file.
I will regard this as a general iTunes question but in general if you are using beta software versions you should not be posting in the main iTunes forum.

  • Simple Finance - Data Migration

Hi experts, We are implementing Simple Finance currently and would like to know if there is a document that lists the changes in tables and functionalities? And in terms of data migration, we'd like to know if there should be a special approach that we need to take note of?
    Thanks for your help

    Hi Godofredo,
Here is the list of FI/CO tables removed in sFIN v1.0:
    Index tables removed:
    BSIS
    BSAS
    BSID
    BSAD
    BSIK
    BSAK
    FAGLBSIS
    FAGLBSAS
    Aggregate tables removed:
    GLT0
    FAGLFLEXT
    KNC1
    LFC1
    KNC3
    LFC3
    COSS
    COSP
Please note that all those tables are replaced by HANA CDS views. So those suppression should not affect existing custom ABAP code (as long as such code is not writing in one of those tables).
Also that new tables will be created in the data model to manage historical data.
Finally, this list above is for sFIN v1.0. The new v2.0 will introduce some changes on this list as well.
Regarding migration, it's mostly a technical migration. Althrough keep in mind that the migration to sFIN will migrate you to New GL and new Asset Accounting. Hence some parametrization work will need to take place after the migration if you're starting from Classic GL and/or classic AA.
    Hope it helps,

  • Simple Finance with NewGL document split

    Hi Gurus!
With the "S for Hana" appraoch I am wondering if Simple finance includes NewGL Document split combined reporting views?
Will I be able to analyse my line items including FI & CO dimensions before and after GL document split?
In other words, is simple Finance able to give access to BSEG, COEP and FAGLFLEXA? in the same view?
I am also not sure about the reporting tool giving access to these views: I know for sure that Hana live will give this access but would I be able to access these combined views with other reporting tools like ECC querries (SQVI), standard ALV reporting (FAGLL03...)?
Thank you in advance for your help,
    Best regards
    Pascal

    Pascal,
NewGL features available in sfin depends on whether new GL was activated in FICO before the migration to sfin.
If you're migrating from FICO with new GL and document split activated, then the behaviour will be the same in sfin as before.
If you're moving directly from classic GL, there are limitations on the new GL features in sfin: There is no document splitting (to be delivered in the roadmap in Q4) . If you wanted documents split now in sFIN, you would have to migrate first in new GL, activate the document split, and then migrate to sfin.
In sfin v1.0, BSEG, COEP and FAGLFLEXA remain as table. This will however change in v2.0.
In sfin 1.0, there is a logical FICO document, but still 2 physical documents remain. As well, this will evolve in v2.0.
Finally, regarding reporting, some transactions have been replaced by Fiori apps. When this is the case, the transaction is no longer available, and you get a pop up window inviting you to go to the Fiori launchpad. Otherwise, the access to the old transactions remains. With the delivery of the newer versions of sfin, more and more transactions will move to Fiori.
    Hope it helps,
    Arnaud

  • SAP Fiori BW on HANA scenario / Simple Finance

    Hi All,
I’m contacting you because we are in front of a completely new scenario. We have an important doubt regarding our landscape configuration, and the applications which can be deployed on it. At high level, our landscape has an SAP Business Suite using an Oracle DB, and an SAP BW system using SAP HANA.
    Our questions:
    1. We assume that is impossible to install any Fiori Apps which require the Simple Finance Add-On on the Business Suite (even if they are transactional)
o From the official SAP documentation we understand that the can only run on HANA DB
    o Is it correct?
    2. Having in our environment SAP BW on HANA we assume we are on one of the Side-by-side scenarios (see image below, highlighted in red). So we are assuming most of the analytical applications will work fine, is this correct?
o As far as we understood, it will be a matter of activation of XS HANA engine to make applications work
Any comment or advice regarding these questions would be really appreciated.
Thank you very much and best regards,
    Pau

    Dear Pau,
I believe your understanding is correct.
Simple Finance Apps runs only on HANA, but you can install Fiori (runs under AnyDB) transactional apps in your existing system. There are HCM,PP,SD,MM,PS,FI etc apps (transactional apps) which can be installed in your current system.
With Side-car approach, if you have HANA XS, you can have analytical apps.
You can refer the link https://fioriappslibrary.hana.ondemand.com/sap/fix/externalViewer/#/detailInfo
This lists all the available apps the config, implementation requirements.
    Thanks

  • How to install Simple Finance Apps for SAP Fiori?

    My system:
    1. ERP 6.0 EHP 7
    2. Netweaver Gateway installed
    3. HANA db on different machine
    What I have done:
    1. I installed the add-on that I got from SMP. The apps seem to be present on the server side.
    2. I added the necessary roles to my user so that I could use the apps in Fiori Launchpad.
    3. Logged on to Fiori Launchpad and I can see the apps there, however every Tile that appears has a text "Cannot load tile" on it.
Looking at /IWFND/ERROR_LOG I see that the service gives "Resource Chip not found" error.
    Questions:
    1. How can I debug Fiori Launchpad related errors to find out why tiles don't load.
    2. Can somebody please provide an easy-to-follow step-by-step guide to install SFIN apps so that I could make sure that I did everything right.

    Hello Rauno,
    1. Open the Fiori Launchpad in Google Chrome using Chrome Developer Tools. Do you see any errors in Console or Network?
    2. The SAP Help Portal documentation, e.g. Installation Information for SAP Fiori for the SAP Simple Finance Add-On 1.0, encompasses several activities which may be relevant to the error: System profile configuration, service activation, authorizations, applicable SAP notes, and so forth.

  • SAP Simple Finance on top of ERP Foundation Extension Trial

    Hello Folks,
has anyone tried to install SAP Simple Finance Add-On on top of the ERP 6.0 Ehp7 on Hana Trial Edition?
We need a Simple Finance Demo system and I'm currently finding the best way to get it.
Steps to do on the ERP 6.0 Ehp7 on Hana Trial system:
    - Update Hana DB to SPS08
    - Update Ehp7 to latest SPS07
    - Install Simple Finance
Somebody tried one of these steps?
    Best Regards

    hi Patrick,
First of all, the SAP ERP Foundation Extension trial is there only for 30 days. In addition, you should not do any system landscape level updating/upgrading/adding add-ons, it is not compliant with Trial Terms and Conditions; on the other side, the trial license will not allow all these kind of development-like activities either.
Coming back to your question about the experience, my SAP ERP Foundation Extension RDS project is in the progress to update the trail with sFIN 2.0. What we have done:
    1. completed data consistance check
    2. finished fin application related preparation
Next week, we will update the system to SP7 and install the sFIN 2.0.  Going forward, we will deliver a sFIN 2.0 trial to replace the existing ERP Foundation Extension trial. Planned RTC is by end of June,2015.
    Stay tuned with us!
feel free to contact me offline at: [email protected]

  • BW DataSource for Cash Management on SAP Simple Finance

    Hi All Experts,
In our project, we have installed SAP Simple Finance 1.0 add-on for SAP Business Suite on HANA which introduced plenty of new functionality especially on Finance Accounting and Cash Management.
The impact from Simple Finance is that, it seems existing standard data sources for Treasury - Cash Management don't work anymore, i.e. there is no transaction data. I believe it's because the change on source table inside SAP ERP.
We also already activated local BI contents on SAP ERP side (i.e. embedded BW) which allows reporting directly on top of SAP ERP Query. All data models here are VirtualProvider based on function modules. And data is there!
However, due to some limitation, we are not authorized to modify or customize those BW objects on SAP ERP. And meanwhile, we have got a requirement to extract Cash Management data from SAP ERP to dedicated SAP BW system (not direct reporting on SAP ERP). We encountered a problem that we cannot use the existing BI contents; and also cannot generate export data source from VirtualProvider in ERP to be used a source towards BW.
Is there any workaround or resolution to extract data from SAP ERP (Simple Finance installed) to SAP BW? Any suggest is appreciated. Thank you.
    Regards,
    Thanoos

if i understood this right you are willing to use some HANA Live views?
And you want to consume modified versions for these in the BW system?
I can find several links describing how to do so ....
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/40d205ae-7407-3110-b6be-881c8f17bf3a?QuickLink=index&…

    Extending HANA Live Views
But these urls describe the way to extend/enhance 'view like' views i think.
How 'function module' views should be extended is something i have not seen/read before.
If the functionmodules point to HANA Calculation VIews maybe ..?
I reply to this thread to find out how this should be handled.

  • NewGL Rollup still relevant or enhanced with Simple Finance?

    Hi Gurus,
I am studying the implementation of Simple Finance and wonder whether the NewGL rollups are still relevant?
My requirement is to agregate, transform and control data before transfer to the consolidation plateform.
Do you know if there is any enhanced or new solution that can fulfill this requirement?
If I can use the same function, do you know if it has been developped on Hana DB and benefit from Hana capabilities?
I try to find detailed help documentation about Simple Finance (custo & functional) but I am not sure to find the good one, could you help me finding it.
    Best regards
    Pascal

    Hi Pascal,
here is the link to the documentation for the Simple Finance add-on 1.0: http://help.sap.com/sfin100
For your requirement of aggregation and transformation prior to transfer into consolidation, we still recommend using the "classical" approaches of roll-up ledger, extraction to SAP Business Warehouse, or SAP Financial Information Management.

  • Pre Requisite components for Simple finance 2.0

    HI Experts,
Please suggest what are the BPC/BW Components required for  Simple finance 2.0..?
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi Rama,
Please have a look at this link.
You don't need BPC for simple finance. you only need ERP and BW.

  • Re: Question on simple  finance

    Hello All,
SFIN1 (simple finance add on)  is installed in our system, its a new implementation but after configuration we are not able to  view the documents in CDS view.
when we post vendor invoice, aggregate table and index table is getting updated.
Please advise any other config to be done to get the CDS view.
    Thanks and Regards
    Ragini

    Disregard this one... false alarm
With a clean /tftpboot directory, the problem was not observed. I can jumpstart the same server with u5 or u6 in turn now
There was a problem likely due to the inetboot.
    Thanks all

  • SFIN (simple Finance) and Smart Finance on HANA

    Hello SAP HANA friends
I read this document about sFIN:
    http://www.saphana.com/docs/DOC-4263
I have seen also documents about Smart Finance, are there any differences between sFIN and Smart Financials?
    Thanks
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas
Simple Finance is a solution and is cloud based. Smart Financials is part of that package but there is much more included. As stated it means managed services in the cloud so it means paying on subscription base for services from SAP thus utlizing their HANA Enterprise Cloud - HANA Cloud Platform architecture / applications deployed on that.
So sFin really means your customers goes "SAP Cloud". Smart Financials will then be part of that set of applications (systems) that are part of sFin.
If we talk on-premise, we don't talk about Simple Finance, instead we talk about Financial add-on. Smart Financials is part of the Financial add-on.
    Best regards

Hi, 1. Embedded BI reporting(BI queries) 2. Net Weaver Based reports 3. H reports (like FBL*H) 4. HANA live reporting All the above reporting options are available with HANA, but what’s new with simple finance; please correct me if my understanding is not correct. I can only see SAP Fiori Dashboard apps which are new with simple finance. I hope somebody can clarify my doubt Rgds Murali

    Hallo Murali,
    given to the architecture
you have various UX option as described below. We provide various new Operational Reporting Applications e.g. for Manager(KPI Reporting) or Controller(Interactive Drill Down). In addition we have embeeded now reporting in our applications where its useful.
Of course the classical GUI reporting is still working as well. For FBL*H we have Fiori applications in addition. e.g. Customer, Vendor and Account Line Items or Financial Statement. You find more information about the available applications here.
