Migration to Windows problems
Hi everybody,
Have any of you encountered this:
I created some dashboards with OBIEE on a AIX server (version 11.1.1.6.0) and when I migrated the dashboards in a Windows environment (version 11.1.1.6.2), the dashboards are acting erracticly.
1) Some action links don't work anymore (but they are still there).
2) I look at my result by year, go to month, it says it doesn't have any data to show. 5 minutes later I'm able to do the same operation with data.
3) On my pie charts, the 'Animate Graph On Display' are not working anymore, but the ones for my bar graphs are ok.
The version of OBIEE shouldn't be the issue, could it be the environment?
I think you want to use catalog using upgraded version, just open once using catalog manager is fine...
The same for rpd too we have to open once, with that we can say upgrade is complete.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Problems after print server migration to Windows Server 2008 R2
Hi all,
New forum member, first time poster. I am at my wits end and have concussion from banging my head on the desk for several days running. Hopefully someone here may be able to help.
Environment
I have recently moved our printing environment from a Windows Server 2003 machine to a new Server 2008 R2 machine in prep for rolling out Windows 7 x64 clients. We have 30-40 printers, majority of which are HP's (M2727's, P4015dn's, CM3530's, P2035's & a CM8060).
My procedure for setting up the printers on the new server involved manually creating each printer and using up-to-date drivers, we wanted to start fresh. The HP's are all using the HP Universal PCL 5 or PCL 6 (61.115.1.10527) x86 & x64 driver. We use Desktop Authority on logon to install the required printers for each client.
Problems
Since everyone is now running through the 2008 R2 server we have had a bunch of intermittent problems pop up all over the place, mostly with our HP printers. When using the PCL6 driver some applications print a page or 10 of garbled gibberish (wingdings etc), so most printers are now using the PCL5 driver. Other applications print the error "PCL XL error" when using PCL6. Sometimes reinstalling the printer on the client machine will resolve these errors, however they tend to resurface.
When we use the PCL5 driver our M2727's intermittently report "Out Of Memory" on the printer display (they are stock with 64M RAM each) - upgrading the RAM may fix this but we never had this problem before on the 2003 server. This problem is not specific to the size of the printed document - it could be a 20 page report or a 2 page excel document. Resetting the printer will generally clear this issue temporarily. This is currently our most annoying/biggest issue.
Some people are having issues printing to a FujiXerox 340A-AP printer - in particular 1 person is able to print fine, where as another prints and the print margin appears to be far too small. After confirming all print margins on the server then reinstalling the printer on the client machine, the problem still persists. We have two FujiXerox printers, the second one is working as intended for 8-10 users with the exact same settings.
Attempted Fixes
These are some of the attempted fixes that I have tried:
Turning it off and on
Upgrading the firmware on the M2727's to resolve garbled printing & out of memory
Upgrading the firmware on the CM3530's to resolve garbled printing
Reinstalling all HP Universal PCL5/PCL6 x86 & x64 drivers on the print server
Ensuring that the 2008 R2 server is 100% up-to-date with MS patches
Backing up all printers on print server, removing the print server role, deleting all printers & drivers, rebooting, reinstalling the print server role and restoring all printers from backup
Upgraded Desktop Authority to the latest version - as this application is in charge of installing the printers on logon
As you can see we are having a lot of problems and nothing seems to make any sense. None of this happened before Windows Server 2008 R2 was brought in to the equation.
If anyone is able to provide any assistance that would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Hartz.

Hello all,
I am new to ThinApp and working as a consultant to help a company migrate older Windows 2003 software to Windows 2012. They have purchased ThinApp 5.0.4.5 so that is what we will be using.
We have created a clean 2003 VM and did a pre-scan
We loaded the application and configured it and then did a capture.
We then tested the capture the 2003 VM and it works
We then loaded the capture on a Clean 2003 VM and it works
We then loaded onto a 2012 VM and when running the app from a command window get an error -missing import shell32.dll:StrCpyNW
If we run the capture in Emulation Mode on 2012 VM, we do not get the Shell32.dll error but instead the cmd fails with a Fault Module Name - NTDLL.DLL error
I am sure I am just missing the correct location to identify or configure the capture - but do not have the experience to know where yet. (Taking training next week).
Until then, is there any suggestions which I can try?
Thanks for your time in advance,
VinceTried and done that. The main issue while configuring the printer from the printer Web Interface is that there is no access to the Digital Sending section due to a problem with the "Sun Java plug in" I think the code mentions 1.31. or similar.
We downloaded the java plug in and installed it. No progress.
We reset the printer to defaults and reconfigured it .. It sees the smtp gateway and access it but fails sending email with scanned documents..
We have tried in very different ways. We connected the printer to another domain SBS server 2003 and it works beautifully. So, I have no idea on what is the problem. We created a firewall exception for ports 390. 1783 from the SBS to the Printer
and still no go..
We have tried four different accounts and nothing. Same results as stated originally.
Any other suggestions??

Unfortunately I had already disabled the NIC's on both hosts. They currently remain disabled. I've just tried turning off IPv6 as well and no luck.
PortQry came back fine (I think) :)

I have a family member who is thinking about switching from Windows to a Mac. She is currenlty using Adobe stuff on Windows (PE 4) where she edits and organizes her photo's.
I've set her up for trial with one of my Macs with PE 4 installed. Now the question is, will she be using iPhoto or Adobe Bridge on the Mac and what is more important, how can she migrate in either situation?
Personally, I think iPhoto/PE is the best solution, but how should she migrate her Windows photo database to het Mac and might migrating to Adobe bridge not be easier?Gerben:
If Photo Bridge can write the metadata, primarily the keywords, to the files then importing the folders that the file are located in will create rolls in iPhoto with the same title as those folder. Also the keywords should be read by iPhoto and included in its database.
As you know iPhoto is a image management application but one with the additional features of slideshows, books, etc. It can group photos by whatever criteria the user want. Bridge is primarily a browser type application.
To migrate her Windows photos to iPhoto she should first copy the folders of image files to the Mac. Then download and run BatChmod on each folder with the settings shown here, putting your administartive name in the owner and group sections. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folders into that field. This will assure that the permissions/ownership are properly set before importing into iPhoto.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB file backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file. -
SAP_ECC_6.0 Migration from Windows 32bit - Windows 64bit_2003
Dear Tech Masters,
I have recently done with SAP ECC6 migration from Windows 2003_32bit to Windows 2003_x86_64 platform.
DB is Oracle 10g, No such critical errors found during migration, But Now I am facing a big problem related to memory utilization, The source machine have 5GB RAM and utilization of 8-9 GB total memory i.e including virtual memory Where as in the Target System ( Windows 64bit) after system copy done, Its using 22GB + memory ( RAM 8 GB , Virtual Mem : 16 GB assigned ). Database sizes are same in both machine but memory utilization are different in huge term. Its impacting in performance badly.
Please suggest how to solve the problem where to start and how to proceed.... My bad days are going on..
Need your master help ...
Ravi PalHi,
The reason may be that you have increased the memory parameters for this new system and it is now using the memory slice you provided. Try to identify what are the areas that are using more memory using transaction ST02. Also review the recommendations for memory parameters in the following notes:
146289 - Parameter Recommendations for 64-Bit SAP Kernel
88416 - Zero administration memory management as of 4.0A/ Windows

Since migrating from Windows 7 to Windows 8 and upgrading to iTunes 11, the latter has frozen while syncing my devices, usually while at the “determining apps to sync” stage of the process. If I am attempting to download app updates before attempting to sync, the problem normally occurs at the first “installing app x” stage. In addition, the whole iTunes experience is extremely sluggish and will even freeze while searching for a track. Everything worked fine on Windows 7. So far, I have repaired the program several times and have checked for compatibility issues, but there is no Windows 8 option in the combo box, obtained after right-clicking the icon and selecting Properties/Compatibility. As a result, I am unable to sync my devices. If I uninstall iTunes before re-installing, will this affect my iTunes libraries? Does anyone have any suggestions?
After going by elimination to isolate if the problem was from (1) iTunes app, (2) my computer or (3) my old iPhone 4G, I figured out what my problem was.
1) First I deleted & reinstalled iTunes on my Windows PC without succes, my playlist did not changed on my iPhone.
2) I tested a successful #sync from the iMac at work.
So my conclusion is: The hard drive on my Windows PC is full and that is affecting iTunes SYNC functionalities.
So I'll do a back-up then run a "Clean Install" of my Windows OS, hoping that it will fix my SYNC problems. -
Migration from Windows Small Business Server 2003 to Snow Leopard Server
Hello,
I'm going to migrate a Windows Small Business Server 2003 Standard to a Mac Mini Snow Leopard Server 10.6.x in a few weeks.
I have 2 questions :
Is there an official process to migrate my Exchange server datas ?
Snow Leopard Server has it Wizards to help me to muigrate datas to proper services ?
Thanx
Regards,
Gil DERENNE aka --( dB )--Thank you for your reply
My network will be Apple only in a few time (1 server, 1 iMac and 1 Mac Pro).
Now, I want to replace server and all services installed on it :
- Active Directory (replaced by Open Directory)
- Users/Groups/machines
- NAT/Firewall and Backup (will be replaced by a Time Capsule)
- VPN for mobile access
- File and Printer sharing
- Fax Services with Fax/Modem 56K !oops! (replaced by a free service offer by my ISP)
- Mail/Calendar/Address book and notes with Exchange (replaced by each service to serv right thing : Mail, iCal, Address book...).
I know what to do with all things but not for replacing Exchange and transfer datas to each similar service in Snow Leopard.
In the network, Mail Server will be used by Outlook with IMAP protocol and other services by web interface (Windows computers are not a problem for me, it can be alone and only access web if necessary).
The number of clients inside the LAN :
- 2 iPhones
- 1 iPod Touch
- 1 PC Windows Vista (for a few time) with some VM (Linux and Windows)
- 1 iMac 27' with 1 VM (Windows)
- 1 LAN Printer HP Deskjet 6127 (RJ45 Static IP connection)
The number of clients outside the LAN :
- 3 PC Windows XP
- 2 PC Windows Vista
- 5 Nokia Smart Phones
When I'm going to by the Mac Mini Server with Snow Leopard Server, is there some support to help me to do it whith them and is it free or do I have to buy AppleCare to access to this service ? -

Migrate from Windows XP x86 to Windows 7 x64 using MDT 2013
Hello everybody,
We are migrating our Windows XP(x86) workstations to Windows 7 (x64). We are aware of the necessary gymastics tu perform on USMT in a way to run the scanstate with an older version of USMT in Windows XP, and then run the LoadState in Windows 7 environnement
with the newest one.
The problem is that I cannot run MDT TaskSequences (referring to a X64 windows 7 Image) in Windows XP (full OS environnement). Can anyone please tell me if there is a way to get arround this ? is there any method to execute this migration ?
Thank you in advance.Hello,
You can use usmt with mdt. It's necessary to modify the script mdt

Migration of Windows Small Business Server 2011 Standard Edition to new hardware
Hi
I have a Windows SBS 2011 Standard Edition installation, of which, the windows component is very buggy. Everything on the server is working i.e. AD, Email. I am unable to shutdown the server gracefully, i am unable to open the system manager.
Backups also are not running, so i don't have a proper backup that i can use.
I want to migrate my Windows SBS installation to some standby equipment which i have, then reinstall the old server with Windows SBS 2011 and migrate back from the standby equipment to the original hardware.
I know this is possible, and i know that Windows SBS 2011 gives a 21 days grace period to complete the migration.
Is the path i have mentioned above seems to be viable for me to try and get back to my original hardware, with a fresh installation of Windows SBS, keeping AD and Microsoft Exchange intact.
RegardsWill not work as you have outlined it. The installation of a new server installs a new SID and you cannot add SBS to SBS domains. The only chance you have at this is to install a new non-SBS DC in the domain, export the mail assuming you are
using Exchange, move the shares to the new DC or some other system, pull out the SBS from the domain, move all the FSMO roles and have a stand alone Server Domain without SBS. Then, add SBS back to the domain in the documented manner.
I suggest you contact www.sbsmigration.com for a documented and supported method to accomplish this migration.

JiggiHi,
You are getting the error because the printer name is greater than 40 characters.
The SAPLPD can only recognize printer names with 40 characters or less.
From the log, i believe you are using the printer BKC_7THFLR_HPCOLOR3800 ON THMUMGDCPS01 (FROM BKCDT1017) IN SESSION 11
but the SAPLPD is recognizing only till BKC_7thFlr_HPColor3800 on THMUMGDCPS01.
Try to change the printer name .. it will work -
I bought a new iMac. iWeb and all its folders migrated over, no problem, but I cannot bring up my website - it only seems to allow for creating a new site.
You need the 'Domain' file in which iWeb keeps its data. This lives by default in (user)/Library/Application Support/iWeb. You need to locate it on the old machine and copy it to the same position in the new machine. Note that it is the Library folder in your Home folder, not the one at root level.
This folder is hidden on Lion and above; to access it, in the Finder go to the ‘Go’ menu and hold down the Option (Alt) key; the Library folder will appear as a choice. In Mavericks you can make it permanently visible - open your Home Folder the from the Finder's View menu, choose show View Options and check Show User Library.
