Migration / Upgrade SAP Solution Manager

Hi
We are using Solution Manager 3.1, W2000 Server, Intel, Oracle.
Now it is necessery to Upgrade Solution Manager 4.0, to new Hardware with Windows x64, AMD, Oracle.
It was very helpfull for me, if somebody could explain me the steps to do that.
Thank you very much
Selim

first of all it is obsolete (because based on 8.1.7) and did not cover the central needs of the request ( Oracle9 to Oracle10 during a 32Bit/64 Bit migration)
second it is based on Unix, will not help Windows users very much.
third it is not supported, the only supported resources are documented via http://service.sap.com/instguides look for your version, homogenious system copy guide.
fourth: there are some mistakes in it: you need a new saplicense, at least on windows.
fith: it does not document at all what additional manual steps are necessary if the system is a newer system with a lot of functional links into other systems.

  • Upgrade to SAP Solution Manager 3.2 to 7.0 EHP

    Dear Experts
At present I am using SAP Solution manager 3.2. Now I am planing to update SAP Solution Manager 7.0.
I am some confutation in SAP Solution Manager 7.0 and SAP Solution Manager 7.0 EHP1,
what i do please help me.
    Regards
    Sanjay C.

EHP1 is basically a product enhancement of 700 - i.e offers new functionality
Usually to get to Enhancement packages you need to be operating NW2004S stack based product - in this case 4.0 (now called Solution Manager 7.0)
I think this proposal will require first an upgrade from 3.2 to 4.0
then after applying Enhancement Package EHP1 and following pre-reqs for both steps
Also bearing in mind that Solution Manager is RFC dependant any change in SID, Hostname or client will require
all RFC connections will need to be adapted
There may also be special considerations depending on source configuration or the active Solution Manager scenarios and content
I would take a look at following PDF for reference - it may help in the initial 3.2-->4.0 upgrade

  • Upgrade process to SAP Solution Manager 7.1

    Hello!
We use SAP EHP 1 for SAP Solution Manager 7.0 (SPS 26) and plan to upgrade to the new SAP Solution Manager 7.1.
We currently do not have Java Stack there.
    Some questions about Upgrade process
    1) Can a direct Upgrade from SAP EHP 1 for SAP Solution Manager 7.0 (SPS 26)  to SAP Solution Manager 7.1 be realized?
    2) Should we first install Java Stack and then proceed with the Upgrade or otherwise?
    3) Will Windows 32 Bit and None-Unicode Version of SAP Solution Solution Manager be supported?
It will be great to get some helpful information.
    kind regards

    Hello!
    Trying to answer your question
    1)  As described in note 1244225, there no restriction to upgrade the Solman EHP1 to solman 7.1. Refer to the section:
In case you do not participate in this current Solution Manager 7.1 beta shipment there are no  restrictions for implementing now SP stack 25 and upgrading in the future to an equivilant SP stack of release 7.1."
    2)  The Solman EHP1 must always be a dual stack system, I am not sure,  how you are  running the Solman EHP1 without a Java Stack, you should have one.
    3) I am not sure if there will be a Solman 7.1 32Bit Non-UNICODE version. But,  SAP recommends to run Solution Manager on Unicode (see also customer letter on http://service.sap.com/Unicode).  At solman EHP1 there are some issues when running the system as Non_UNICODE, refer note 1383407.
I am not sure if I could clarify all your doubts.
You may check the following URL:
    http://service.sap.com/instguides
    - SAP Components
    - Solution Manager 7.1
As this is a very new software there is few documents in it, but soon you should see a upgrade guide here.

  • Ticket SAP Solution Manager 7.0 to SAP EHP 1 for SAP Solution Manager 7.0

    Hi,
I want to migrate all tickets from SAP Solution Manager 7.0 to SAP EHP 1 for SAP Solution Manager 7.0 , please let me know the procedure how to migrate it.
    DB Detail
    SAP Solution Manager 7.0 - MSSQL( 9.00.4035)
SAP EHP 1 for SAP Solution Manager 7.0 - MSSQL(10.00.2531)
    Thanks,
    Kaleel

    Dear Mohamed,
I was reading the post and the replies and while I think your question has been answered, I just want to make sure what you are trying to achieve. Is it a migration, where you have one Solution Manager system on SAP Solution Manager 7.0 and another
SAP Solution Manager EHP1 system and you were looking to migrate the Service Desk messages?
If you are "Upgrading" one system from Solution Manager 7.0 to  EHP1 then all the messages are preserved.
If you are "Migrating" to a physically different system, then transfer of Service Desk Messages is not supported.
Please see the document [SAP Solution Manger-  Conent Transfer|https://websmp204.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_FRAME=CONTAINER&_OBJECT=011000358700000608232009E]
Also Service Desk is a completely independent CRM Service, so the messages could always be archived, as has been suggested.
No depending on your scenario, is the EHP1 system brand new or is it already productive? If it was brand new, you might be able to do a homogenous system copy, and then upgrade the new system to EHP1. But if it is already productive, this would not be an option.
    Hope this helps to clarify.
    Regards,
    Paul

  • Oracle upgrade in Solution Manager 10g to 11g

    Dear Expert team ,
Our Solution Manager is running  in Windows 2003  with oracle 10g .

TNS for 32-bit Windows: Version 10.2.0.2.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 10.2.0.2.0 - Production
    SQL>
Now I want to upgrade my Solution Manager 10 g to 11g .
what oracle component  should I download  and how to upgrade 10.2.0.2.0  to  11.2.0.3.0.
    Please suggest.
    Regards
    Pooja

    Hi
The upgrade is possible as stated in the here under note.
Previous version (v15) of that note was even a bit more clear it is possible but version 10.2.0.4 is preferred.
Direct upgrade from 10.2.0.2 should not be a problem, as it is even possible to have a direct upgrade from 9.2.0.8 to 11.2.0.4.
    1431793 - Oracle 11.2.0: Upgrade Scripts
A database < 9.2.0.8 must be upgraded to 9.2.0.8 before it can be upgraded directly to 11.2.0.4.
You should consider jumping directly to 11.2.0.4 that is the latest 11g version and the only one that will have a long term support.
    Regards
1431797 - Oracle 11.2.0: Troubleshooting the Database Upgrade
For a database upgrade from 10.2. to 11.2 the minimum release is 10.2.0.2. This release is not supported any more.
    1431797 - Oracle 11.2.0: Troubleshooting the Database Upgrade v15
We strongly recommend a minimum release 10.2.0.4 for the following reasons:
    a) All SAP internal database upgrade tests have been performed with
release 10.2.0.4. This upgrade path has been very well tested and
is documented in the SAP Database Upgrade Guide for Oracle Release
    11.2.
    b) Oracle Database Release 10.2.0.2 is not supported any more.

  • Please suggest on: SAP Solution Manager Installation

    Hi Experts,
We are going to install SAP Solution Manager in our landscape. Our present SAP version is: ECC 6.0 and Database is: Oracle 10.2.0.2 and OS is: AIX 5.3
    1. Please suggest us which is the suitable Solution manager version for our environment?
    2. What are the pre-requisites and needful steps to take before starting the installation?
    3. Where can I get complete step by step documents for this activity?
    4. Which OS & DB  is suitable for our environment?
    Thanks in advance!
    Veera

Can I also ask for some confirmation about a couple of things.  I have looked at the SAP documents but I can't find a definite answer to these questions:
    1.  David Kroone - you say that Solution manager should be set up on a new server but I understand that it is possible to run it on one of our existing R/3 servers.  Is this correct?  Does anyone have any comments about this?
    2.  David - you also say that we can pick any OS & DB for the Solution Manager server. We are running R/3 on Oracle/Solaris but would prefer to run Solution Manager on a Windows server running SQLServer.  Is this definitely OK?  (it would be cheaper though you advise that using the same platform could make it simpler - is this because Solution Manager works better on the same platform or is it just because we would then have a more homogeneous environment?)
    3.  We are currently on 4.7 but plan to move to ECC6 this summer.  We want (need?) to install Solution Manager before we upgrade to ECC6.  Should this affect our decision in anyway?
Sorry to re-ask the same questions but it's difficult to find a precise answer in the SAP documents.

  • EHP1 upgrade of solution manager-any effects in landscape due to common SLD

    Hello All,
We have ECC,BI,SRM,XI,EP,MAM and BD in our setup and yes of course Solution Manager dev and prod
We have our SLD installed on solution manager production which is common for all the systems of the landscape
Now we have performed EHP1 upgrade if Solution manager dev and now we are planning on solution manager production
So just want to know,do you forsee any issues after we upgrade the solution manager production to EHP1 in respect to SLD or can there be any issues in the landscape because of this upgrade?
Please let me know your suggestions
    Rohit

    > So just want to know,do you forsee any issues after we upgrade the solution manager production to EHP1 in respect to SLD or can there be any issues in the landscape because of this upgrade?
    The SLD is not affected.
However, SolMan EHP1 requires a LOT of separate notes to be applied.
Note 1172948 - SAP Solution Manager - Basic functions
Depending on what scenarios you use, you will also need to upgrade ST-PI in the external systems before EWAs will be again correctly created.

  • Configure ECC 6.0 EHP4 in SAP Solution Manager SP15

    Hi all,
I just upgrade a system from R/3 4.6c to SAP ECC 6.0 EHP4 NW 7.01. I want to configure the system in SAP Solution Manager just upgraded to SP15. But I don't understand how I must to configure the system and to assign a logical component. It seems not to be the same possibilities between System configuration and Logical configuration.
For system configuration I can choose product version EHP4 FOR SAP ERP 6.0 / NW7.01 and a full list of usage type
For logical component I only found product SAP ERP ENHANCE PACKAGE and a very short list of version and usage type (??)
Is someone know if it is normal or if it is necessary to patch solution manager ?
Is ther a documentation existing to configure ERP EHP4 systems ??
    Thanks for your answer.
    Regards
    Gerard

I have not seen any document to configure EHP4 systems specfically.
I do not think, Solman SP15 should create any problem in that. But, since you are upgrading your landscape to EHP4, so why leave solman to SP15 instead of Ehp1 (SP18/19/20)...
You might want to have a glance over some notes

  • Business Process Modeling in SAP Solution Manager

    Hi.
Even ther an Solution Manager space, i wish to get some opinion related to Business process Modeling.
We are working in an upgrade project. R/3 4.6 C to ECC 6.0. The customer decide to use Solution manager to map their process, based on the transactions of the new version.
    Company Business Process:
    1.Based on ISO standards.
    2.By product line
3.The process are defined using an structure with 4 Levels: Macro Process, Business scenarios, Business Process and Steps/activities.
There are 2 possibilities to map the process into the Sap Solution Manager:
    1. Map the process by component.
    - Single Project
-It means to make a list of all sap components with their process without mattering the business process.
-Each product line can be a variant for an specific process. e.g: Sales by line
    2. Map the process as ISO Standards
    - Several projects : For each product line
Which cold be the better option in order to:
    - Easy configuration activities
    - Easy design of Unit and integration test
    - Easy activities of Process enhancement and optimization
    Theres another option?
    Thanks
    Alvaro Hernán Rojas R

Hi Alvaro Hernán Rojas R ,
The product line is the hierarchy of the finished goods.
It is pertinent that the finished goods has emerged due to some process(es) carried on the raw material.
Thus logically you should map in solution manager based on the process only.
The macro process while depicts the processes at the highest level. The Business scenarios, Business Process gives a good idea about how you should go about configuring. The Steps/activities helps you to map in to SAP thro' T/Codes.
From the point of view of all of the below three, namely,
    Easy configuration activities
Easy design of Unit and integration test
Easy activities of Process enhancement and optimization,
the option   Map the process as ISO Standards
    - Several projects : For each product line, will be most ideal.
It is the processes that drives the activities. The control activities like internal control etc are all process based.Given these, divorcing the business process from the configuration -as in -is certainly not a good practice.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Ramesh

Check the installation guide (http://service.sap.com/instguides) - it has a detailed section about what to remove in which directory.
Also check note 171356 - SAP software on Linux: Essential information for other things you need to install/configure (saplocales etc.)
Additionally check your distribution specifc configuration settings in note 722273 - Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 and 4: Installation and upgrade (Redhat 4.x assumed).
Finally check note 861215 - Recommended Settings for the Linux on AMD64/EM64T JVM for the Java settings after you´ve done your installation.

Has anyone seen the SAP Solution Manager used to rollout and/or upgrade Outlooksoft (now called BPC - Business Planning and Consolidation)?
I am trying to assess the usefulness of this tool in an implementation where the only SAP module the company has is Outlooksoft (BPC), so all thoughts are appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Greg
