Migration won't work from mac os x 10.6 to mac os x 10.10

I'm trying to migrate all my information, data etc. from my mac os x 10.6.8 to a mac os x 10.10 and I get a error message on the migration assistant on the mac os x 10.10 saying I need to upgrade the mac os x 10.6.8 to continue the migration. But on apple's support website of migrating from mac os x 10.6.8 and later, it states that migration assistant in mavericks and yosemite can transfer information from other computers that have os x snow leopard 10.6.8 or later installed. It states that I can transfer from a mac os x 10.6.8 but gives me a error message saying I need to upgrade the software on the mac os x 10.6.8 when using migration assistant. So why can't I use migration assistant without updating the 10.6.8 mac?

When I try to open safari a message says: You can't use this version of the application Safari with this version of Mac OS X 10.7.5. The application requires Mac OS X 10.9 or later.
I see Recovery needs Wi Fi which is not available here and Recovery is loaded with a list of potential disasters.
To heck with Safari I'll just use Firefox. Apple sure screwed up here judging from the multitude of similar complaints on the internet.

GoDaddy won't work in Mac Mail

Hi guys,
mac Mail is doing my head in!!! I launched a website for my business using GoDaddy as my hosting and I'm trying to add my account to mail but nothing works. I've been on the phone to godly and they went through all possible solutions and came to the conclusion its an apple problem. They said apple mail might have a specific port that I need to use for an external client or something like that? Anyone got any help? I can;t get a hold of anyone from apple, their support is useless unless you pay for it!!

I posted this problem a couple of days ago. I have 50 or more groups, some with several hundreds of names & these groups no longer import. I have gone to apple genius bar & they are clueless. Apparently apple opted to make maverick work for gmail but now it won't work for mac mail.

How are you trying to transfer the Keynote presentation?
You can email the presentation to yourself and open it with Keynote on your iPad.
You can use iTunes. Connect your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes, go to the App Tab for your device and add your presentation to the Apps/Keynote section. Now if you touch the "+" in keynote on your iPad you will get the choice Copy from iTunes.
Your can setup iCloud on your laptop & iPad and save your Mac laptop presentation to iCloud and just open it on your iPad.
There are, of course many other ways, Dropbox, etc.

Wacom Intuos Tablet Touch Function Won't Work On Mac OS X

Hi there,
I recently purshased a Wacom Intos pen & touch tablet, model CTH-480. But the touch function won't work.
I've done the following, but it still won't work:
1. Re-install the driver to the latest. (Driver Driver 6.3.8-2 from http://us.wacom.com/en/support/drivers/)
2. Turned on the switch on the tablet. Whenever I touch the tablet, the blue signal light at the top-right corner will be on.
3. In the app named "Wacom Desktop Center", the "Touch Settings" shows "Touch On". So the software is configured well.
4. In the "System Preferences" --> "Walcom Tablets", the "Touch Options" is available and is able to configure. There's no option there which saya "Enable Touch Input" as seen in some tutorials online.
The other functions are perfect. I can use the pen, I can set custom functions to all buttons on the tablet.
Someone meet similar problems before? I sincerely appreciate your help!

I had the same exact problem. No matter what I did, tablet LED lights and diagnostic testing mode indicated touch sensors working but no corresponding screen functions. This included removing the app/plist installation through CleanMyMac 2 and a subsequent reinstall. You may have fixed your problem by now but Wacom customer support sent me this advice within a day and it worked for me on first try. Touch gesture and pen functions seem to work equally well now.
Key is to use the uninstall utility within the Wacom app itself.
Thank you for contacting Wacom Customer Care. The problem that you received maybe cause by a corrupted driver file. While you may have already reinstalled the driver, please follow these specific instructions:
Open your Applications folder and locate any Tablet or Wacom Tablet folders you have
Use the Utility in each of these folders and click ‘Remove’ under ‘Tablet Software’
Once the software is removed, restart the computer
Once this is complete, download and install the latest 6.38 driver from: (Current as of Aug 2014)

As always, make sure your tablet is connected directly to your computer. Avoid using USB hubs, keyboard/monitor ports, or docking stations with the tablets, as they can cause inconsistent behavior.

Audio interface console (app) won't work on Mac Pro

Hello there!
I just bought a new Mac Pro and did a clean install of all my apps. Everything seems to be working fine except one thing: my audio interface's console.
I'm using an Audiofire 4 interface, which has little physical controls on it. I've been using its console software on my iMac and on my MacBook Pro to control it. Last night I installed the software from the CD on the Mac Pro and it won't work!
I launch the application from my home folder on my boot disk (SSD). I also tried installing it on the data HDD and still no luck: when I try to launch it it closes immediately. All my macs are on the same version of SN so that shouldn't be the problem.
Anyone has a few ideas? I use my computer a lot for music so this has to work or I may have to return to the iMac...

Update: this morning I installed the Audiofire Console successfully on my Windows partition (on another hard drive). I then came back to OSX (on my SSD) and this time the app, instead of immediately opening and closing, beachballed the whole system. The console gave me this:

AirPlay not working from Mac

Early 2011. It used to work with previous versions of Mountain Lion and the ATV OS. Not sure which one broke it. It was working fine with 10.8.2 and the version of ATV OS before the current one. Now, no matter what I do, it won't work. I'm thinking that it might be the lastest ATV update because my Mac mini late 2012 doesn't work either.

External Toshiba drive won't work on Mac after using on PC

My Toshiba External USB drive stopped working on my Mac air after I downloaded some files on a PC. It worked numerous times on the PC and then I brought it back home to use on Mac. Now, it won't show up on finder but can be found on Disk utility. I cannot manually mount it there. Repair disk and verify seem to finish but still won't mount. It was originally formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). The PC did not prompt me to re-format or do anything to the Hard drive.
How can I get it to work on Mac again?

If your external hard drive will not mount on your MacBook Air but it will show up in Disk Utility, you may need to erase the hard drive in order to get it to show up on the Mac again. NOTE - this process will destroy any data on the drive, so be sure you have anything on there backed up somewhere else before you begin!

HP 7520 - Printer in Use - won't print from MAC

I have installed the the HP7520 on my MAC computer. I am connected wirelessly. When I attempt to print I get the message that the 'printer is in use'. I can access the printer from other computers in the house (non-Mac) and I can also print a test page from the Mac. I don't know how to solve this to get the printer to work from this computer, any help would be very much appreciated.

If you will use the printer on wireless router you have to ensure that the your routers bonjour specisification is on or added. Then go to add printer button and select the printer with bonjour name Please..

Trial download won't work on Mac

I'm trying to download the Muse trial version onto my Mac but it won't work. I get the following error message:
"You are running an operating system that Muse no longer supports. Refer to the system requirements for a full list of supported platforms."

"OK Google" won't work from lock screen in lollipop

Wishing I hadn't bothered with the lollipop update as this has really diminished my phones usage.
I had been able to use the "ok google" voice command to make phone calls, change music etc while using my bluetooth headset connected to my motorbike helmet whilst my phone was in my pocket with the screen off & locked.
Since updating to lollipop I cannot get this to work on the Z3 & I am really disappointed with this.
Reading feature articles regarding loliypop this should work from the lockscreen but it doesn't & I now really wish I hadn't bothered with this gaudy update, for me lollipop is a huge backwards step - not liking it at all.

Try doing this if you didn't do it before:
- Go to your app drawer and start "Google Settings" app
- Under "Services", select "Search & Now" -> "Voice" -> "OK Google detection"
- Check the option of "From any screen"
- Go through the voice training wizard to get the process completed.
If you find the option already active, and you had upgraded to Lollipop without resetting your device to factory settings. I'd suggest going to Settings -> Apps -> Google App -> Force stop and Clear Cache -> Restart phone -> Redo the above procedure.
Let us know if this works.

My volume won't work on mac pro

My volume won't work on my Macbook Pro. The button works and I can see the volume being turned up/down, but no sound comes out! I tried everything in the volume section of System Preferences. Does anybody know what I can do? Thanks!

Try a PRAM reset:
If no success, look in the audio output port. If there is a red light, the internal switch is stuck. Insert the headphione jack a few times and see if that will trip the switch.
