MII 11.5 migration to 14.0

Hi,
We are migrating MII 11.5 to 14.0. After migrating the application from 11.5 to 14 using the migration tool, we see lot of errors w.r.t. templates folder in the migration log:
"Error processing request, Project name cannot start with a slash"
We have our query/display templates stored inside the Templates folder.
The upgrade document states that "If you have user-defined query templates in these folders, you should move the query templates to another project folder and update them."
Current folder structure as below:
intepub
     |-- wwwroot
          |-- ProjectABC
Lighthammer
     |-- Illuminator
          |-- Templates
               |-- ProjectABC
                    |-- <display/query templates>
     |-- Xacute
          |-- Transactions
               |-- ProjectABC
                    |-- <transactions>
Please suggest some way to resolve this error. How should i arrange the folder structure for templates.

Hi Partheeban,
Could you please let me know the migration tool version which you used to solve your issue - 11.5 to 14.0 Migration Issue
I read in the above thread that you were able to solve this issue by using another version of migration tool.

Nikhil

  • MII Migration tool for server installed in Linux

I am planning to migrate few files from xMII 11.5 to 12.0.  I searched in market place to download the migration tool(service.sap.com -> SAP Support Portal -> Downloads -> SAP Installations & Upgrades -> Search for Installations and Upgrades.
Entered XMII MIGRATION TOOL in the search field)  which can be used from my windows laptop. But, its not available.
I also searched for the components which can be deployed in Netweaver to obtain the migration tool(service.sap.com -> SAP Support Portal -> Downloads ->Entry by application group->Support Packages and Patches...SAP xApps...SAP XMII...SAP XMII...SAP XMII 12.0...XMII MIGRATION TOOL 1.0). But, these components are only available for Windows server.
Let me know whether this is because of authorizations/permissions of my id. Is there a place where I can download either the migration tool or the components for linux?

The Migration Tool is a windows only application - so are the files from your 11.5 system for that matter
You'll need to download the tool, run either the SDM or JSPM tool of NetWeaver to extract the zip file from inside the SCA file.  This zip file can then be extracted onto your laptop where the java app can run to take the desired 11.5 source files and migrate them into your 12.0 server via http.

  • Applets not working with Java 1.7.0_51 in MII 14.0 SP4 Patch 5

    Hi,
I'm currently evaluating the migration of our MII 12.0 developments to MII 14.
But I'm running in several issues just trying to use simple things like a SQL query template with an iGrid Display template in test mode.
Used versions are: MII 14.0 SP4 Patch 5 and on client side the latest Mozilla Firefox with Java 1.7.0_51
At first I always get a java security warning when the applet is being loaded about unsigned applications.
At second the applet itself is not running. It always shows "No data available" and the java console shows the following errors (iResult is the id of the applet):
iResult [ERROR] - Couldn't set query template: No Query Defined
iResult [ERROR] - Couldn't set display template: null
iResult [ERROR] - Couldn't set display template: null
Is this perhaps a general problem, that the MII applets are not working with Java 1.7.x versions?
If I call the same MII page from a client with Java 1.6.x it is working without errors.
Do you have some suggestions for me?
    Regards Timo

please clear your JAVA Cache. that should solve the JRE issue. thanks

  • SAP MII 14.0 Tag Query Findings

    Hi Everyone,
We has just migrated from 12.2 to 14.0 MII, we did not got any issue in BLS or any Queries. The only issue we faced was the tag Query. So, after migrating from 12.2 to 14.0 we need to re load the Tag query and save it after migration to 14.0 otherwise it will not work as expected.
Am sharing as many of us may be working for Migration of MII 12.2 to 14.0, this may be useful.

Where are you querying the data from?
For example, if you're reading tags from an OSISOFT PI Historian, the "mask" attribute should be tag='AB*'
    Note the single quotes!
The mask value in PCo queries is dependent on the "source" system masking procedure and format.

  • SAP MII function issue in SAP MII 14.0

    Hi,
Currently I was working on some content up gradation work in SAP MII 14.0 , but while working, I have got a strange think regarding SAP MII Functions. We have developed the same code in SAP MII 12.2 and faced the issue while migrating to 14.0. The issue is as follows,
The function we have used in 12.2 is getvalue(name) as in the below screenshot,
but while we have migrated to 14.0, then we saw the function has updated into getvalue(map, key) in 14.0
I have no idea why parameter of the existing function got updated, but the problem is if someone want to migrate the existing code from 12.2 to 14.0 using such of function then he/she can get a "Conversion Exception" and at that time it will become bit hectic to identify the issue and change the logic to handle this in all the places.
    Regards,
    Suman

    Hello Suman,
I guess it is a bug in MII 14.0. The help doc has the getValue(name) still. However, the newer function is not present in the same. I guess it was not documented. I guess, the getValue(map, name) is a newer function which somehow replaced the older one.
I would suggest you to raise a support ticket. According to me, the getValue(name) and getValue(map, name), both should exist.
    Regards,
    Tufale Ashai.

  • General MII environment questions

    Hi,
We are just starting a project to implement MII.  We have an MII consultant on site who has stated that in addition to the stock MII install, we need an additional database at each plant for locally caching production orders, purchase orders, inventories (raw, wip, f/g, packaging & ingredients) and other support type data (storage locations, material masters, tolerance, item-pack mapping codes, etc.) in support of the continuous operation requirement.
Are additional databases a common requirement?
If so, is dba level access for developers a requirement?  Please keep in mind, they would potentially also want the same access for the production system.
If dba access is not required, couldn't we just add a tablespace (we're using Oracle)?
    What is a typical configuration?
The consultant is not familiar with NWDI.  His recommendation is to move directories from development environments to production.
Are most MII customers using NWDI including the Change Management Service?  If not, how are they controlling and coordinating changes?
It was my impression that some of the data was stored in files and some of the data is stored in the database.  Is that incorrect?
Can changes be safely migrated from development to production by copying directories?
    Best regards,
    Russ

    Hi Russ,
    I support Mike's comments.
At one time all the MII application "articles" were text based and accessible via Windows Explorer.  Now with 12.0+ releases, everything exists in the DB as you are aware.  I'm not aware of anyone/customer/partner actually using NWDI with MII.  When things were file based, it made it a bit more easy to integrate with some flavor of source control.  But, even then, most projects did not use such tools for several reasons (albeit not necessarily good reasons).  Many projects are small enough in scope that one person is working on code at a time.  So the need for source control to prevent code contamination was not there.  It would be helpful for promotions or transports from dev->tst-prd though.  But, again, many projects used a possibly archaic method (ie, Excel) to keep track of what files and version of those files were where.  At best, when things were file based, source control was used as a nightly backup of files.  I could rattle off a number of multi-site, large enterprises that use Excel as their MII SVN tool.  Again, it may not be best, but it is a common observation.
Today, yes, MII does work with NWDI.  Is it the ultimate in source control/software configuration management?  Probably not.  Last year in Nashville for the SAP AMS conference, I gave a presentation on Software Configuration Management (SVN being a part of SCM) and MII.  I gave some recommendations for incorporating SCM into the MII world.  There are different options depending on your version of MII.  But, for some combinations of MII and components of SCM, I was not able to provide a solution.
I'm hoping to find a really, really good solution for complete SCM compliance in the MII architecture at some point, but I'm haven't yet.
Regarding local DBs.  Yes, if the requirement is limited sustainability or local survivability, then, yes, you will need a DB at each plant (at least one).  As far as authorizations for your consultant - well it depends on how much you want them to do on the DB side.  If you don't grant permissions, someone who has permissions will need to write the queries and stored procedures, obviously.  That's really your call.
Good luck with your MII endeavors.

  • 100% thread pool/CPU usage prevent MII Applications from working

    Hello to all,
our MII Applications were running on MII 11.5 (windowsserver 2003, with IIS) without any problems.
We migrated these MII Applications  to SAP xMII Version 12.0 SP8, SAP NW 7.00 SP20, Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 1.4.2_22-rev-b03, mixed mode).
Since then we faced several problems that prevent the MII Applications from working, e.g.
    - 100% application thread pool usage rate
    - 100% CPU usage
    - awful lot of http connections
Several sap support calls didn't find the root cause.
    Workaround: restart sap system weekly
Does anyone has any idea how to go on?
    Thanks
    Simone

    Hi Mike,
sap support told us to install this Java version.
Furthermore SAP Note 716604 says "do not use J2SE 5.0" and "Currently, we recommend 1.4.2_24 b06".
    Any more ideas?
    Regards,

  • V12 migration.bat file missing

    Hello,
I have two physical Win2K3 servers. One with xMII V12.0.2 plus NW 7 and the other with V11.5.1 . Each xMII version is running fine.  I have downloaded the latest version of the migration tool (XMIIMIGRATION03_0-10004466.SCA.zip) to the V11.5 server.  It is indeed a zip file. I unzipped it to a folder on the desktop and it contained three folders (BUILDARCHIVES, DEPLOYARCHIVES & META-INF).  The SAP Note # 1024626 states there is a migration.bat file to double click.  I don't see a .bat file.
I am logged in as Administrator on the Win2K3 server with V11.5.1.
    Thanks for any help.
    Chuck

    Chuck,
Yes the SP3 version of the Migration Tool will only work with MII SP3.  This is due to the fact that some fixes in the Migration Tool required some changes on the MII side as well.  You can deploy the SP3 migration .sca file  before you upgrade to MII SP3 but you just cannot run the migration tool with MII SP2.
Just a FYI MII SP3 needs Netweaver SP14 so make sure you have the correct service pack before you upgrade to SP3.  Look at the installation guide and release note as well on how to install it as the JCO dll's need to be removed as they now come standard in SP14.
    Regards,
    Erik

  • MII 12.1 SP5 Patch 12 - QualityPortal(Comments table) used by iSPCChart

In xMII version 11.5, iSPCChart use the sql query 'ChartCommentQuery', under QualityPortal folder, to retreive comments (list of elementkey field) to be able to displayed red flags on iSPCChart. Comments information are stored into an Oracle table named 'Comments'. A Data Server exist to connect to this Oracle table (Data Server name is QualityPortal, Connector is IDBC and Connector type is SQL).
In MII version 12.1 SP5, iSPCChart stores comments not at the same place as xMII 11.5.
Can anybody tell me where comments are stored. I heard it's under a Netweaver database. Need more information....
Is it possible to defined a Data Server to access this Netweaver database? if yes, which kind of connector do we need?
Also, how the iSPCChart, in version 12.1, does to build red flags (which indicate a comment exist for a point)?
Do we have an equivalent at 'ChartCommentQuery' to retreive elementkey list?
P.S. My request concert also an other table of the QualityPortal: SUPPRESSEDDATAPOINTS
Thanks in advance for your collaboration.

    Hi Jeremy,
Importing a 12.0 project into a 12.1 system works fine. Effectively, all files are there (under QualityPortal project) but queries use old tables name like Comments and SuppressedDataPointsu2026. And Iu2019m not sure these queries are really used in 12.1. As you will see below, I have created a comment via the iSPCChart and a red flag is displayed. When I remove the Query QualityPortal/ChartCommentQuery, nothing changed. Red flag continue to be on the iSPCChart.
In version 11.5, the SQL Query QualityPortal/ChartCommentQuery (which the output is a list of elementkey) is used by the iSPCChart to generate red flags. May you confirm me if in version 12.1, the iSPCChart use the sql query QualityPortal/ChartCommentQuery to generate red flags? Else, how red flags are now generated with version 12.1?
In version 11.5 (with the recommendation of Joe Denino - a Lighthammer consultant) we have changed the SQL Query QualityPortal/ChartCommentQuery for an Xacute Query which generate a list of elementkey based on R/3 system, instead of QualityPortal Comments table. All ours comments are stored into R/3 instead of QualityPortal DB, in order to be available for many applications (Operator Dashboard, Planner Dashboard, R/3 transactions). Same things for Suppressed Points (SuppressedPointQuery). So, itu2019s not required to import data (i.e. Comments and SuppressedPoints) from 11.5 to 12.1.
For testing purpose, I have selected a point (00000029) on my iSPCChart(version 12.1) and created a comment (via Setting>UpperChart>Comment) and a suppressed point (via Setting>UpperChart>TogglePointSuppression). Red flag and red X are visible on the iSPCChart using this standard procedure.
Then, I run a select on both tables XMII_QPComments and XMII_QPSUPPDPOINTS and all rows are effectively into these tables (see below, all rows except first row of each tables).
Then I have inserted a new row for an other point (00000001) (see below, first row of each tables), but nothing new on the iSPCChart. Nothing new even if java cache is cleared or page refreshed.
Do you know if others tables (or procedure, methot, etc...) is used to manage red X and red flag? To make of this Migration Project a success, we need a replacement solution.
    Thanks in advance.

  • MII 12.1.5 problem: XML-Doc not initialized in second transaction call

(Sorry- I don't know why the lines are not seperated as in my input text...)
    Hello!
We are migrating our projects from MII 12.5 to 12.1.5(Build 99).
Most of the problems we found last year during our 12.1 rampup tests are fixed now.
We are very happy about the improved expression parser- it now finds all syntax errors which are ignored in 12.0 (like missing parenthesis).
The new tracing options make is easy to remove such errors.
We found some small problems but this problem ist not easy to see and the result are some hundred wrong SAP postings:
In a called transaction we have a XML-Doc action block  which manually configured fields.
Then we adds rows to this document using the ROW-action block.
Note: In the calling main transaction the option "reload transaction after each execution" is UNchecked (the default)
This works fine for the first call of this transaction.
The problems starts with the second call.
Some initalization for the XML-Doc ist not executed (see trace below)
VERY BAD: the ROW-actions to fill the document are executed WITHOUT errors!
    Result: an EMPTY XML-Doc!
The solution is to check the option "reload transaction after each execution" in the Transaction call action.
In MII 12.0 the XML-Doc was initalized and filled correctly for both calling options.
    Questions:
    - Is this a bug or a known behaviour?
During the rampup test we found some problems with local variables and discussed this with SAP (Mr Schuette).
what I remeber: with the unchecked option the local transaction variables should keep the old values of the last call -
but XML-Docs should be initialzed always. The big problem is that the ROW action don't raise an error.
    - Should the option "reload transaction after each execution" be checked as default?
    - Are there performance differences for both options?
    Best regards,
    Roger Zuehlsdorf

    Hi.
It is very hard to read your description, but have a look at SP6 patch 2. This contains a fix for initialising of XML documents in transactions. I am not sure weather that is your problem but have a look.

  • MII Web Services Object questions

    1.  What is the WSDL Base Url property in the Authentication tab of the Configure Object screen?
    2. Is there a way to Trace the raw soap message and web service url that is sent when the web service is executed?
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Steve,
    Ok, in short:
    1) The WSDL Base url is prepended to the WSDL URL property.  This allows for the user to swap out the http://<server>:<port> when migrating between dev, qa, and prod without having to worry about modifying the entire WSDL URL.  In v12.1 the easy way to accomplish this is to create a Shared Memory property called something like WSDLBaseTargetServer and set it equal to your web service source system relevant to that particular MII instance.
    2) If you mean during design time simply use the Logging -> Tracer action, if you're talking runtime then you can write files into the MII content DB via the File I/O -> Write File & Web -> XML Saver action blocks.  Be sure to use the guid function in the expression editor to ensure that your generated filenames are unique.  So something like:
    "MyServiceRequestXML_" & guid & ".xml"
    Hope this helps,
    Sam
