MII 12.1 Installation

I just completed an install of Oracle 10.2.04, NW EHP1 ce 7.1 SP03 and MII 12.1 on a VM machine with some bumps along the way, but t is installed and I am now seeing a couple of things that strike me as odd.  I noticed a maintenance certificate is needed and I have my onsite SAP guy looking into this, and even though it comes as a warning and allows me to proceed, I believe it is causes the SP05 to fail.  I am willing to wait on this failure until I get the maintenance certificate.  My first question is, do I really need to update 12.1 to SP05?  The more important question is when I try to connect to MII http://<server>:50000/XMII, I get an "503 Service Unavailable" page.  Basically, saying the application was stopped.  I figured the NW services were not running, but I am able to access NWA using the index.html page.  How do you turn this service on?

Gregory,
I would recommend getting up to speed on the latest release/patch, however you should take a look and find out more info on what is getting fixed. Besides installing SP5, there are 5 patches available currently.
Notes
SP5 - 1427240
Patch 1 - 1451448
Patch 2 - 1455906
Patch 3 - 1457327
Patch 4 - 1461632
Patch 5 - 1463232
As for post SP installation steps, I tend to lean on restarting the nodes on the server as a good measure, not just the MII service.
Good luck,
Kevin

  • Netweaver training class for MII Admin and Developer.

I took the SAPEP SAP NetWeaver Portal - Fundamentals but it did not cover how to configure/install Netweaver for MII.
I wonder SAPNW SAP NetWeaver Application Server class will cover for the followings:
    1. Knowledge to customize the MII web page
    2. Knowledge to understand the MII web server installation for additional patches, upgrader from 12.2 to 14 and additional java library (SAP UI 5 for 12.2.5.70 what I have)
    3. Knowledge to configure file\directory structures under usr\sap\MID\J04\j2ee\cluster\apps\sap.com\
    xapps~xmii~ear and etc.
    4. Also looking for SAP MII Advanced Training coures - I took already SCM380 MII Basics
    5. Would be able to use SAPUI5 into MII
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi
Actually the Discoverer Administrator tool has changed so little over the past 5 years or so that you could take a Discoverer 4 EUL class and apply everything that you have learned to 10g. Personally I'd go for the one entitled OracleBI Discoverer Administrator. That's the latest version. You can tell because the letters BI are now part of the product.
I've never used the CD ROM so can't comment - sorry.
    Best wishes

  • Issue in PCo 2.1

    Hello Experts,
We are facing an issue with SAP PCo while working in SAP MII 12.2.We are not able to start a particular agent instance.First we are stopping the agent instance and then when we are trying to start the same it is taking a huge time and finally showing the following error.
"Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."
    The PCo version is 2.1
    Kindly advise.
    Regards,
    Shawna

    Hi Shawna,
Please provide more information on your system.
What patch or SP is PCo on?
What version, SP, and build/patch are your MII and NW installations?
What are you connecting PCo to (what historian or OPC data source)?
Where is PCo installed relative to NW/MII and relative to the data source (firewalls?)?

  • Default NLS instead of localized (Danish) crashing SQL w/ "Invalid number"?

Exploring the root cause for our Oracle SQL not working in our SAP MII 12.2
Proof of Concept installation, we found that all our Oracle JDBC
connections in MII 12.2 are somehow somewhere set by default to Danish
    NLS (our native language).
This results in that decimal seperators are switched from default ".,"
to ",.", meaning that all numeric conversions of strings expect
comma "," to be the decimal seperator.
This results in ORA- invalid numbers of to_number() and calculations on all such number strings that used to
    work with xMII 11.5.
We have work-around'ed the issue by setting the following INIT command
on each and every Oracle connection:
    alter session set NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS='.,'
But we believe the right solution would be to reset SAP MII / NW to the
default (American) so it would not be tampering with the NLS - and to
hinder further undiscovered side effects of the changed NLS.
How do we do change the NW/MII NLS globally?
    Steps for Reconstruction
    SELECT * FROM v$nls_parameters
    Old MII 11.5 connections displays:
    NLS_LANGUAGE AMERICAN
    NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS .,
    etc.
    Our MII 12.2 displays:
    NLS_LANGUAGE DANISH
    NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS ,.
    [work arounded to:]
    NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS .,
    Thank you Very Much!
    Mogens

Pedro, thank you very much for you work-around.
It might be technically possible but not easy in our restricted environment. Also, that would require even more cumbersome changes for each DB side than the current workaround.
AND it currently works (was set to default=American) with the same DB user on the same DB from xMII 11.5 - so it is a specific change with our MII 12.2 installation.
Mike, the work-around is that we make the ALTER SESSION on each connector init command, not on each call.
But with that work-around we need to change every NLS param on every database, not just the decimals.
Otherwise, the days are still translated to MANdag instead of MONday etc. which we don't want.

  • XMII 12 UDS availability

    Hi
Are all the datasources as seen in the UDS framework ( e.g. UDSFramework_2_5_0_4 - which one used to have for 11.5 before MII 12 ) available in UDS 4.0 ?
Does the procedure for installing/ running UDS remain same as earlier with Netweaver hosting MII?

    Hi Amol,
UDS 4.0 includes the following UDSs:
u2022 OPC Data Access (DA) UDS
u2022 OPC Historical Data Access (HDA) UDS
    u2022 OLE DB UDS
UDS 4.0 is not directly bound to an MII version.
    Installation procedure is same.
    Thanks,

  • MII Installation VM Image

    Hi
We have a setup with a global ERP and local MII servers on all our sites (50+). Is it possible to create a complete image installed with NW and MII that can be used for distribution, to save the installation cost on new sites / Upgrades?
Is it possible to change the systemid after the installation?
Or is there another best practice for this?

  • XI and MII installation document

I have to install XI and XMII on a single machine. Please guide me with installation document and procedure to be follwed.I would appreciate all your help and suggestion.
    thanks

    Daniel,
I am not sure what Installation Prereq's you are looking at but support.lighthammer.com has been gone for years.  The newest documentation is at http://help.sap.com and here you can find the Installation Instructions for MII v12.0.
    1) Should I have to follow MCOD method for this installtion ( First installing XI(00,01) and then XMII )
I do not think the order of these installations matter.  You just have to make sure that Netweaver is installed first as MII runs on top of this.  There may be an install of Netweaver with PI but I am not sure
2)I know to select the components (ABAP,JAVA&PI) for XI likewise tell me the components for XMII so I can choose?
The only component MII needs is the Java AS stack
3)XMII will have how many instances ..for example XI will have 00 & 01 ...for XMII?
This depends as Jeremy said I would refer to the quicksizer, there is not a choice specifically for MII but you can choose a similar component such as EP
    4) Any specific prerequisite or software installtion for XMII installtion on a windows 2003 server?
There are no prerequisites for MII on a windows 2003 server but there may be some for Netweaver.  Netweaver will be the more difficult install once that is installed MII just sits on top of Netweaver with a install using JSPM.
Just reminder MII is best implented at the plant level and NOT as one central instance where all plants access just one MII machine.

  • Installation of MII 12.1 on AIX 5.3 TL8 Operating System

    Hi All,
I think Ramp-up for MII 12.1 is nearing its end and MII 12.1 getting ready for release.
One of our client wants to install MII 12.1 in AIX 5.3 TL8 Operating System.
since installation guide for 12.1 is not yet released i went through the installation guide of 12.0 but could not find detailed installation procedure for AIX Operating System.
Installation guide was based on windows 2003 server.
so can anyone help me out with the detailed procedure for installing MII 12.1 in AIX operating system.
Assumption is that NW CE is already installed.
    Thanks in advance
    Shyam

    hi shyam,
i have the copy of the installation guide for sap mii 12.1. I am not sure whether that can be installed on the aix operating system or not. however, you can get the installation guide from sap marketplace .. i have downloaded the guide from the service marketplace.
    Hope it helps !!!
    Thanks,

  • Is UDS  installation is must to connect MII to OSIsoft PI

    Hello all
    1.  Is UDS  installation is must to connect MII to OSIsoft PI.
    2.  Is there any alternative method to connect to OSIsoft PI  with out  UDS server.
    Regards
    Rajendra

    Hi Rajendra,
you must first install the OSI PI API and then the UDS Framework in order to connect to OSI PI with MII using the UDS.  If you're not too sure what to use, a good "testing" option would be to install the OSI PI Client tool on the box which you're going to install the UDS - it will include the API Library.
I haven't used the PCo to connect to OSI PI but I'm assuming the process is the same as with the UDS (I think you need to use 2.1 to retrive data too, but I'm not sure).
There is another way to connect to OSI PI (and I'm putting my head up here to be shot), using an OleDB connection.  This also allows you to do more complex queries to PI as opposed to the standard Current, History, etc...  I don't know if this is still available and I know this isn't as robust as it should be :).
    Hope that helps.

  • MII 12.1 Distributed Installation

    Hi
We are evaluating options for installing MII 12.1 (currently in ramp-up)  in a distributed manner.
We have SQL Server setup in one site. We would be installing MII instances on multiple sites. But would like to know in terms of Netweaver Database, if we can create multiple netweaver db instances on the same SQL Server one for each site and use them with distributed Netweaver CE 7.1 Application servers on each site.
In essence, all Netweaver App servers across sites would connect to different SQL Server instances that arel hosted on the same physical host at 1 site.
Would this result in serious performance degradations because the SQL Server is farther away from the Netweaver Application server? Will the application make a call to the netweaver database for each click since the code is residing on the Netweaver database or does it cache enough to avoid the trips?
    Please let me know
    Thanks
    Deepa

    Deepa,
Consider all of the file I/O that your current server performs with query template loads, display template loads, and business logic service loads, not to mention the user/role and security related information files which are largely stored in memory upon startup.  Now transition all of the file I/O to JDBC calls in and out of a database for this same effort, and you'll see why Mike indicated some concerns for degredation, especially for longer and longer distances between the NetWeaver/MII server and your single SQLServer instance.  Depending upon the volume of users and their associated activity this can be quite a bit of traffic going across the wire between NetWeaver and SQLServer.
If you are looking to avoid some of the SQL licensing costs at the plant level, why not just consider using the free MaxDB underneath NetWeaver?  In the realm according to MII, it doesn't even know the difference because the NetWeaver layer provides abstraction from both DB and O/S.

    Jeremy

  • Repeated prompts to install with "Installation Failed" error - ANNOYING

I've been experiencing the same issue for the better part of July and August.  I have tried several recommended strategies in the hopes of getting Adobe Flash Player (AFP) to install and perform correctly; however, none of my attempts have led to AFP indeed BEING installed.  Every single occasion I install, I receive the error "installation failed."  Needless to say, this is time-consuming and annoying.  And more annoying is the fact that I have no idea whatsoever as to what caused this event.
I am running Windows Vista with a 32-bit encryption on Internet Explorer Version 8.  I've searched through the FAQ section as well as through several Forum threads without luck.  I am, however, curiously able to utilize AFP through Mozilla Firefox, but as this is not my preferred mode of Internet surfing, this becomes cumbersome.
This issue is slowly driving me insane.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!!
