Miix 10 "Display Driver stopped responding error" (Windows 8.1)

I just got my Miix 10, just updated to Windows 8.1 and when I press the power button to wake the tablet I keep getting this error:
"Display driver stopped responding and has recovered"
And it takes like 4 to 6 second just to wake the tablet from sleep. It never happened when it was still in windows 8.
Current driver from Lenovo: Intel GMA on version 9.14.3.1168
I have check from intel they have release to their oem with version 9.14.3.1177 to resolve this issue but have to be updated and release by lenovo in order to install on the Miix 10 tablet.
Solved!
Go to Solution.

I too had the same issue with my lovely new Lenovo (nice bit of kit am impressed, bar this one driver issue) (after 8 upgrade to  8.1)
as a workaround for now (until lenovo update their pack, do the following)
so I ended up downloading the normal driver,
http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/pf132w8132.exe
this has the older driver in it,
now download the ASUS updated version here,
http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/asus/59719-new-tf810c-drivers-v7-00-a-print.html
extract the lenovo pack but don't tick the install button,
extract the ASUS pack,
go into the folder find the Graphics folder and copy and overwrite the same folder in the Lenovo pack,
REPLACE the content as you need the old INF, files too for the lenovo, (ie don't just delete the lenovo folder, and replace)
then run the installer,
it will complain the driver isn't signed anymore, that's OK,
then reboot,
now smartscreen will complain the exe's are not signed, continue on these too, only happens the first time you lunch them,
now go to systray and open the Graphics properties for Intel, now it will say 1177.
NOTE Device manger will not report correctly, but the sleep function will now work...
This is just a temp until lenovo sort it tho really...
Hope it helps, lots of Intel clover trail people...

  • SLI GTX 970 Nvlddmkm "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" Error

    Hi everyone,
I'm having an issue with driver crashes and was hoping someone on here would be able to help. The error I am getting is: Nvlddmkm "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered".
    My PC specs are:
    Windows 8.1 Pro
    i7 4770k with Corsair H100i
    2x 8GB HyperX RAM
    Asus Maximus VII Ranger Mobo
    2x MSI GTX 970's
    750w Superflower Leadex PSU
I've noticed that the error usually happens while the cards are cooling down after playing a game, although it has been known to occasionally happen while gaming. I am have MSI Afterburner running and have noticed that the GPU usage spikes up to 100% then the power usage drops completely just before the crash.
This problem has persisted through 3 clean OS installs so I do not believe it is a driver issue.
My initial thoughts were that the PSU could be insufficient, but after some reading online my system really shouldn't draw anywhere near 750w. What do you think? I am not totally clued up on PSU's, so not sure if my wiring could also be causing the issue - here's a pic:
The cards use a single cable that joins both cards for both 8-pins, then two other power cables for the 6-pin. Would this be a problem?
It's also worth noting that the issue doesn't seem to occur when SLI is disabled. I never had any problems with the original card prior to adding a second card though so I do not think it needs RMA'ing.
Any advice would be greatly appreciate. Thanks in advance.

oki remove the second card[your old one] and test the newest card only
I will try this tomorrow, thanks.
A bit more info, it crashes with SLI disabled. Just found out tonight for definite.
Here is a screenshot of what MSI Afterburner shows when it crashes.

  • [W500 and Windows 7] ati display driver stopped responding and has recovered

    Hi,
I installed Windows 7 64bit on my W500 (almost 3 weeks old). It installed a driver for the ATI display card from Windows Update. However, since yesterday, I regularly get a driver crash (I assume...).
It's happening when I'm scrolling in a webpage, suddenly the page hangs, the mouse and Windows itself hangs seconds later and after that, after 5 seconds, my screen goes black, the machine beeps and it's back. In the tray, I get an error: ati display driver stopped responding and has recovered.
In the details of the driver, the following can be seen:
    Driver Date: 28/04/2009
    Driver Version: 8.612.0.0
The card is recognized as a 3650.
Am I doing something wrong here? Can I test with another driver (I tried installing the Windows Vista 64bit, but it doesn't seem to be willing to install...)?
    Thanks in advance,
    gill

I have the exact same hardware and software (Win7 64) and I'm getting precisely the same symptoms, screen blanks out when I am scrolling a web page vertically using the trackpoint and the center blue trackpoint scroll button.
    It's really annoying.
It also never happens when the laptop is in the dock, or when the integrated graphics are engaged, this only happens when the ATI chip is running and only since ATI released the new Windows 7 drivers.
Previously I'd ran this box on on Win7 64 but used the Vista 64 bit graphics drivers from ATI and didn't have the problem, but installation was a pain.

  • Msi GT683R "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" error.

I bought a laptop before 6 months, installd windows 7 x64 and everything works fine. Suddenly, five days before I got this eror " Display driver stopped responding and has recovered ... "but the laptop operates normally, when not connected to the charger, the only difference is that the graphics card works only on P8 state 203/606/324. I've tried everything, install new windows, tried all the video drivers back 6 version, tried two different chargers, raised the voltage in the video card, flash the latest BIOS, flash latest EC driver, changed several types of RAM memory, installed win xp x64, all drivers are from MSI's website, tested temperatures (everything is fine, no overheating), blew video card out of the dust, new thermal paste, tried to change the regedit key (Microsoft recommend), the last windows update, etc, etc. I tried to OC video card with MSI Afterburner, but does not want to accept the clock (last nvidia driver version 314.07) ... On various forums I saw that a lot of people have a similar problem, but not the one topic has a problem with the charger. I tried all sorts of modifications to the 3D nvidia utility. Currently I run out of ideas, I thank you in advance for your help!!!

Hi "I have an MSI G683R and the problem started a month ago, but sometimes pc freezes, crashes or restarts, mainly for running games; temperature problems've never had as constantly monitoring GPU and CPU and never exceed 80 degrees, I have the latest drivers for all devices, besides that I have always been maintained by removing all traces of dust inside the pc.
I have tested the RAM, hard drive, CPU and passed without any problems, including stress testing the GPU and everything ok ", but as soon as the pc game freezes.
The funny thing is that this never happens while I play with the battery without direct current is connected, but it is annoying the fact the battery only play for an hour.

  • Display driver stopped responding and has recovered successfully

    Hi everyone!
I  sometimes have recently  been encountering this error 'Display driver stopped responding and has recovered successfully' .
This is the version of ATI RADEON Graphics adapter.
This problem is happening recently (let me say about five months ago)
I really don't know what may be causing this problem. However, I have created a virtual machine before about only 3 days with these settings:
Host machine has Windows 7 home premium (64Bit), and the mount of memory available is as follows:
    Physical Memory
    Memory Usage 34 %
    Total Physical 5.95 GB
    Available Physical 3.89 GB
    Total Virtual 12 GB
    Available Virtual 9.43 GB
Guest machine has Windows 7 home prmium 64bit, and the mount of memory available is as shown below,  I really  needed to this RAM memory size because the Windows  7 got very slow with less than this size.
Host machine has Graphic adapter with memory size of 6GB
guest machine hat his video adapter settings below, because I really needed to this video memory size.
But, as I said I have been facing this error for about five months before VM was created.  Thus, I don't think that the problem is related with VM's video display.
Also, sometime when visiting some sites containing  video files needing Adobe Flash player, I was faced with that error and the browser got non-responding and then, it got closed.
It would be highly appreciated if you could help me with this.

    Hi Cooperator ,
As I see , your catalyst is from 2011.You can use AMD Driver Autodetect Tool. The AMD Driver Autodetect Tool is designed to detect the model of the AMD graphics card and the version of the Microsoft® Windows operating system installed in your computer. If a new driver is available, the tool is designed to help you download it. After a successful download of the driver, the tool will provide you an option to install it.
    Download page:
    http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/auto-detect-tool
After that ,open Catalyst control center, and set your programs to  performance that you want to run.
It should solve your problem , this error comes when graphic card need more time that win register alow (about 2sec) , and with right drivers , it shoul fix it.
Wish you good luck and all the best!!!

    Thanks a lot,
When I tried downloading the tool from that link you provided as circled in this screen shot below
After amddriverdownload_installer was downloaded, I run it, then another wndows showed me
    Then after download completed,
    this show me.
I found the tool cannot be downloaded due to incompatible hardware/software on my computer,
Although tool couldn not be downloaded, there are some files in this locatin after clicking install.
As aside, this window below showed me while downloading the tool, then I don't know what let it show me.
Is it OK or should I uninstall it if it were installed
Also, AMD Gaming evolved was installed without asking my permission.
It is installed as 'Raptr.exe' in this location  'C:\Program Files (x86)\Raptr'
Also, whenever my Windows 7 got started, this windows showed me, although I didn't set any account for this, there is accont longins as you see in this screen shot belw.
This raises another question which is what created this account shown above?

  • HP Pavilion DV6-6077er Display driver stopped responding and has recovered

    Hello!
I am using this laptop for 3rd year already. OS is Windows 7, every standard driver is downloaded from the official page and installed.
I have a problem, which sometimes occurs while using web browser, graphic-editing software and some games.
The screen starts flickering and then recovers with a message: "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered".
I am usind official AMD drivers from 2011.
Before I have tried to install unofficial drivers or drivers from AMD web site, but all of them had random BSODs and errors. Only the official driver works stable, but sometimes causes this error.
Is there any possible fix for it?

    Hi Kakofonn,
At this point I would recommend doing either a System Restore to when it worked or if you don't use restore points do a full System Recovery. If you go this route make sure that you back up your information you don't want to lose.  If you don't want to do that then I would recommend calling HP as they will be able to remotely login to your computer. You can reach HP Total Care at 1-800-474-6836 or start here if you live outside of North America.

  • MSI GT70 0ND : Display driver stopped responding and has recovered

    Hi,
    I just bought a MSI GT70 0ND 1212xfr :
    CPU : i7-3630QM
    GPU : Nvidia GTX 675MX
    RAM : 8 Go
    HDD : 750 Go  7200 trs/min
OS : Windows 8.1 (installed by myself)
I tried several drivers but i always get this error message when the laptop has to switch on the GTX 675MX instead of the Intel HD4000 :
    Quote
Display driver stopped responding and has recovered.
But finally the GTX 675MX is not enabled so i can't use my graphic card.

Already done and it didn't change anything but i found a temporary solution : i set the nvidia parameters to start my game with the GTX, the message still appears but next the game is running with the GTX. I didn't try with another game. I hope it will works too.

    hi
i have a concern regarding an error in my pc ......
the error is "display driver stopped responding and has recovered"
i had been reinstelled the windows as well as search for apdated inter display driver
    but i didnt work .....
i appreciate for any advice and instruction regarding this problem....
    thank you very much

In most cases such error message is caused by graphic card driver.
Not quite sure why the graphic card driver stops responding but I think an simple GPU driver reinstallation should be helpful to sort out such issues.
In my case such message appeared in the past for one time. It happened while gaming.
I guess there was an problem between the driver and game or maybe the GPU temperature was too high however, it was an temporal issue.

  • NVIDIA Display Driver Stopped Responding

    I have a HP EliteBook 8540w WIN 7 x64 with a Quadro FX 880M card
Regularly my graphics card stops responding with the error message ,” Display driver stopped responding and has recovered. Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 261.28 stopped responding and has successfully recovered”
This usually happens when I am scrolling ( usually with the wheel on my mouse ) in Adobe Acrobat X ( 10.0.1 ) or Mozilla Firefox 4 ( although I suspect the Flash plug-in there ) where Firefox will then crash ( Acrobat doesn't usually crash )
I have spent far too much time searching forums and updating drivers running Windows / HP updates etc and would like some real technical input. I do suspect Adobe ( I have contacted NVIDIA and HP also )  I would hope someone have access to what is actually going on here.

  • Display driver stops responding but recovers every2 or 3 startups

    Hi All
All the following started after my free download from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1
I get some flashes then a black screen for a second then computer is ok however I get the following message
" Display Driver stopped responding and has recovered.
Display driver Intel Graphics display driver for Windows 8.R
stopped responding and has recovered sucessfully "
    The notice then fades away.
Every now and then ( at least 6 times now ) I get a notice from windows that offers to solve a problem with Intel Graphics driver,  It tells me to click here to download the update from ASUTeK Computer Inc.
I down load the update as suggested and when finished get the following
                                     ERROR
This computer does not meet theRequirements for installing this software
Windows then asks me if this information was helpful and I check the  NO box,  in about 3 weeks I then get the identical message.
I am afraid the darn thing will not recover sometime and I will be left with a black screen forever ?
    Can Anyone help ??

    Post your full model number!!
You must follow the Toshiba upgrade instructions when  upgrading from Windows 8 to 8.1, the instructions are here -http://support.toshiba.com/sscontent?contentId=4003162
If you do follow the instruction you will have issues, the only fix is to recovery to factory settings (refresh/reset) then start over.
These items must be un installed before updating and then re installed after updating to W 8.1, see picture:

  • Satellite C660 - display driver stopped responding

I have a 3 year old Toshiba Satellite C660 and every time I play on Sims 3 the game crashes and the screen flashes black to white and displays an error message which reads "Display Driver stopped responding" and sometimes it even ends up being a blue screen saying there is a problem with the software?
I not very computer savvy so if you could explain to me in simple terms how to rectify this problem
    Thanks

The others asked for OS. This means Operating System like Windows ;)
The notebook Satellite C660-11K was preinstalled with Windows 7.
I assume you are still using this OS.
    Now to the graphic card.
The notebook was equipped with an 1-st generation Intel i3 CPU (Nehalem) containing the HD graphic card.
So if you need an graphic card driver, you should check the Intel page for latest driver.
    I found this latest one:
    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22518&lang=eng
    Its a zip package.
    Download and unzip the package.
Now go to device manager and choose update driver. Now you have to use the Advanced installation procedure. This allows you to choose the driver files from the unzipped Intel graphic driver folder.
    Then reboot the notebook.
    Good luck

  • Satellite A500 - Display driver stopped responding

    Hi,
3 weeks ago I bought brand new Toshiba A500. I post here because I didn't find any helpful solution.
    Here is specification:
    Processor: intel core i3 M330 2.13GHz
Graphic: NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M (1024 MB)
    Hard drive: MJA2320BH G2 (320 GB, 5400 RPM, SATA-II)
    RAM: 2X 2 GB DDR3-1066 DDR3 SDRAM (7-7-7-20 @ 533 MHz) (6-6-6-18 @ 457 MHz)
Audio: Realtek ALC272 @ Intel Ibex Peak PCH
System: Windows 7 64bit - directed from Toshiba
The issue is: at random situations, the screen is turn black for a couple of seconds, then the message is pop up saying "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered - display driver NVIDIA Kernel Mode Driver, Version 187.98 stopped responding and has successfully recovered." It happens several times per day.
Sometimes display driver can't be recovered and than system hangs and must be reset. Problem occur at first day after five minutes of using (when there wasn't install anything without OS).
Problem occurs always during normal working with applications (MS office, firefox, etc.). It's completely random - there in not two the same situations - so when I watch hd films in youtube on full screen it crashes several times, but when I restart OS and than play the same movie it works correctly.
Application causes this problem is called TDR (Time-out Detection and Recovery).
This application reset GPU when didn't get respond during 2 sec. But in Windows7 registry doesn't have entries controlled this application.
Since than I tried following solutions:
    - BIOS update;
    - System reinstall;
    - Display driver update to version 197.16;
    - Checking temperature on graphic card (when issue occurs temperature on graphic card didn't exceed 47deg, and processor 36deg);
    - Java update (older version of Java can causes some device problems);
    - Adobe update (same as Java);
    - Turn off aero;
    - Windows 7 updates;
    - Turn off audio (realtek card);
    None of them works.
The problem didn't occur during playing games (i.ex. Witcher). I can play 8 hours and nothing weird happens.
I notice also that problem occurs during opening some applications or entering new tasks (when energy demand rapidly increases).
I wondering that is some driver problem or I should return the laptop to the service.
I suspect that problem can be to big difference in voltage on graphic card but I can't verified that.
If somebody meet with this problem I will appreciate any help.

    hi,
i had the same issue with my A500-1dn equipped with GT 230 M, getting the message ,,Display driver stopped responding,,. I updated the card graphic driver from nvidia.com 3 weeks ago and since that time it' s gone ( I hope forever).
