Min date when working with multiple years

Question

Hi, I'm looking to select the minimum date on a transaction, but am having troubles when there are 2 transactions with the same date on different years, it shows both lines. How can I get sql to just look at the oldest tran date including the oldest year?
customer num 1234 trx date 12/31/2006
customer num 1234 trx date 12/31/2007
I only need to pull the first line
