Min Pool Size Option?
Hi Guys
We have having problems with connection pools remaining in a production environment.
We have of course checked to make sure that all objects are closed and disposed and all connections close correctly in our dev and test environments.
In most cases each user only every opens one connect to the database from a ASP.NET application running in IIS 6.0 (.Net Framework 1.1) using Oracle Data Access Components 10.2.0.2.20. These connections appears to remain for days and in the case where multiple connections they appear to slowly close and again leave the single remaining connection open for days.
Any ideas do we need to set the Min Pool Size to Zero?
How long should it take to close connections that are not in use?

What problem are you trying to solve at this point? Simply "why is odp not tracing?" The only suggestions I really have there are
1) make sure you restart the app after enabling tracing parameters
2) make sure the directory you've set tracing to is open as far as permissions
3) make sure you've set tracing in the right registry setting if you have multiple versions of ODP installed
4) if you're trying to write to c:\ root, try creating and pointing to a different (c:\odptrace for example) directory instead.

Change of Min Pool Size has no effect?
Hi, we are still using odp 9.2.0.4 on windows server 2003 webserver and oracle database 9i on Sun solaris. Recently we discovered a problem using Min Pool Size = 1, it seems that if new connections are required we sometimes get a connection timeout. So we decided to set Min Pool Size = 30, and on the testserver this works fine. In the odp tracefile (tracelevel=2) you see the 30 connections building up immediately. But on the production server we see no difference, it looks like the (new installed, application pool reset) application still uses the Min Pool Size = 1 setting.
The connection string is build up in application code. On the testserver it was sufficient to stop and start the website and its application pool, on the production server this has no effect.
Does anyone have an idea what the problem is??? We also tried restarting the IIS server, that did not help either. In production there are more applications using ODP.

How do I set the initial servlet pool size in WL 5.1
In WL 4.5, I can set the initial servlet pool size using the
weblogic.httpd.servlet.SingleThreadedModelPoolSize. I tried to set this property in WL 5.1, and get an "Found undeclared property..." message when booting WL. Is this feature still supported in WL 5.1? If so, how do I set it?

It appears that pool size of 5 is hardcoded somewhere - no matter where you specify
weblogic.httpd.servlet.SingleThreadedModelPoolSize, the following test servlet:

Epson 810 - 10.6 and PS Elements 8 paper size options?
I just upgraded to Snow Leopard (now at 10.6.8). I have an Epson Artesian 810 that worked fine wirelessly. Finally got everything working again, however, all the paper size options have changed -- but it seems only in PS Elements 8.0. I used to have a long, intelligible list of paper size options, including specific sizes for the photo paper tray. Now, this is greatly reduced.
Anyone seen anything like this? When I try and print in Preview, the print options are all there. I'm wondering if upgrading to Elements 9.0 will fix the problem and get all my options back. I print all my photos through Elements.Matthew, I dont' have an answer for your problem but wonder if you can help me with mine. I also have an R800 but since installing SL cannot get it to work correctly.
Initially I could print from it but had no printer settings.
When the new driver was issued by Epson a few days ago I thought my problem was solved. Downloaded driver and attempted to install but ran into a peculiar problem. As you know the install starts, downloads several files and then gives you the option to quit or continue. Not knowing which files have been downloaded I selected continue. However, this scenario continues ad infinitum and the only way I can quit the program is to do a force quit. I mean like I can literally sit for any time period you want to name and the install continue as if it's in a loop.
I have since deleted all epson files contained in library and in sys.pref.
Second attempt to install resulted in what appeared to be a normal setup including printer settings but now the printer will not print. Message reads error:/library/printer/epson
I feel that there must be some epson files left behind from the first install attempt but I don't seem to find them.
I've contacted epson and the only reply I got from them was 'download driver and install'.
After that lengthy explanation I have two questions.
First one, when installing the downloaded file should I quit the setup when the first query to continue or quit occurs, if not when?
Second question, where else would you look to be sure all the epson files are deleted before attempting a second install.

I am trying to start an oracle instance and tell it to use the init.ora file. However i am receiveing an error about my pool size being too small. Please see below:
SQL> startup pfile=/home/oracle/OraHome_1/dbs/init.ora
ORA-00371: not enough shared pool memory, should be atleast 52132659 bytes
I checked init.ora and the shared_pool_size is set to 3500000. However, i tried the other settings, as it had a medium and a large option, i tried these just to see what would happen. It didn't work, and i don't think this is the problem.
I then tried this query:
SQL> SELECT shared_pool_size_for_estimate,
2 shared_pool_size_factor,
3 estd_lc_time_saved
4 FROM v$shared_pool_advice;
And it output the settings for my shared_pool_size. The setting for "level 1: 76".
Can anyone tell me if this is too low, or how to fix this problem?

but frequently i get the error : unable to allocate client in pool max pool size [5] exceeded
i have to increase the max pool size in my web.config file...but it serves as a temporary solution only
how should i address this?

this is exactly the expected behavior if there are more than 5 concurrent requests to your website that try to use this destination at the same time. This is some kind of protection for the back-end system. Hence, increasing the MAX_POOL_SIZE is an option, if you want to allow more. Alternatively, you could also increase MAX_POOL_WAIT_TIME so that an application will wait longer for a connection being returned to the pool. In this case still only 5 connections will be used concurrently, but the calls might be more serialized.

I am trying to execute a BAPI function from MII, execution fails with the following message;
[ERROR] Unable to make RFC call Exception: [Problem retrieving JCO.Function object: Connection pool <ECC_Server>:800:02:EN:ECCUser is exhausted. The current pool size limit (max connections) is 1 connections.]
[WARN] [SAP_JCo_Function_0] Skipping execution of output links due to action failure.
[ERROR] Uncaught exception from SAP_JCo_Function_0, Problem retrieving JCO.Function object: Connection pool <ECC_Server>:800:02:EN:ECCUser is exhausted. The current pool size limit (max connections) is 1 connections.
Config:
1. In 'SAP MII: Connections' of type JCO and have given pool size to 100.
2. In 'SAP MII: Credential Stores' store is created and same is being used in Start Session.
3. In JCO_Function block, we can search for the Function Module and set it.
MII Version:
14.0.2 Build(82)
Am I missing something?

I have found in the past that even though there are two connections configured because they have the same ip and user they are put into one pool with the lowest max pool of the two connections.

Newbie: In printing dialog, "Scale to" size options are greyed out
I am in the initial stages of figuring out how to use Aperture (v1.5). I am currently trying to make a 5x7 print of a photo.
In the print dialog, "Scale to" 4x6, 5x7, 8x10 size options are greyed out (only "fit image" and "fill entire page" are available).
I've tried searching through the forums, but to no avail...

I have an SSRS report that is rendered as a PDF file; the report has many columns and utilizes 11inx17in (Landscape) paper. However, once the report is rendered and users try to print the report they have to manually select the 'Choose Paper source by PDF page size' option in order to get the report to print on the correct paper (otherwise it defaults to standard letter size - landscape orientation).
I'm aware of 'Print Presets' functionality; however, I don't believe they apply to this scenario. Is there a config file/registry setting/anything that can be specified to automatically set the 'Choose paper source by PDF page size' print setting = On/True/Checked?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...Anybody out there?

I am Shanmugavel, SharePoint developer,
I am facing the below SharePoint 2013 deployment issue while deploying using VS2012.
If i will deploy the same wsp or existing wsp
(last build) using direct powershell deployment, the solution adding properly, but the same timeout exception coming while activation the features. Please find the below error.
I tried the below activists:
1. Restarted my dev server, DB server.
2. tried the same solution id different server
3. tried existing wsp file (last build version)
4. Deactivated all the features, including project Active deployment configuration.... but still i am facing the same issue.
I hope this is not coding level issue, because still my code is not start running, before that some problem coming.
Please help me any one..... Last two days i am struck because of this...What you need to understand is the installation of a WSP does not do much. It just makes sure that you relevant solution files are deployed to the SharePoint farm.
Next comes the point when you activate the features. It is when the code which you have written to "Activate" certain features for your custom solution.
Regarding the error you are getting, it typically means that you have more connections (default is I guess 100) open for a SQL database then you are allowed to.
If you have a custom database and you are opening a connection, make sure you close it as well.
Look at the similar discussion here:

I would suggest further to look at the

I tried to increase the space of shared pool as below

I am stuck and cant proceed further. Could you please help me on this issue so that I overcome this and proceed further.

Our former office printer (Xerox 7345) had no problem with this. But the new Xerox 7830 fails to obey the "Choose paper source by PDF page size" option in Acrobat Pro. Even the "Page Setup" is overridden by the Xerox printer driver. It is extremely annoying to have to go into the Xerox driver dialog every time, regardless of that check in the box and the correct dimensions being displayed in the picture.....
Unfortunately, not only does this not solve the problem with multi-page-size documents, but it's begun happening on files which are all one size as well, where that box isn't even checked.
It appears that what's happening is the newer versions of Adobe Acrobat don't play nicely with emulated postscript support past a certain date. We're replacing our Canon with a newer model that has actual postscript support, and if that resolves the issue I'll be certain to post confirmation here. Copies of Adobe Acrobat 7 and 8 in our office haven't seen this problem at all; it's simply everyone who has upgraded past that point that can't print reliably.
More news next week, after we get the new copier.
