Mini 2009 won't shut down and others....

My hard disk crashed down, I changed it and re-installed from Time Machine. Now my mini won't shut down (among other things) just restart. I think, I broke something inside, because I can't re-install from App Store (unfit check sum). Here is the fault log, any help?

Reboot while holding down the command-r keys so the Mac boots to the Recovery Disk. From there select Disk Utility and then run Repair Disk.

  • Mini Mac won't shut down!

Core Duo won't shut down or log out or re-start but can sleep. Can use terminal to kill processes but it is not an application causing the problem. The output is to a TV via S-Video and am using wireless keyboard via USB.
    Appreciate any suggestions.

    hello to the mac world
    @sunra
same problem here on my mini mac, intel solo core, happens 3 times in one week now.
it seems that my mini ignores shutdown, restart and log out.
when I terminate the task "login window" then he jumps to the login screen, where I can shutdown or change the user.
anyone an idea about this little problem?
okay, it is not a big problem and with this problem I feel already home now...yes, I used windows the last years
    greetings

ps: please excuse my bad english!

  • Mini Server won't shut down/won't start up until power is pulled

I am running OS X 10.9.1 on a Mac Mini Server 2.6 GHz Intel Core I7 / 16 GB ram. I have been having issues shutting down my Mac. I start the shut down process but it gets to a gray screen/beach ball and will sit there forever until you hold the power button down. I tried shut down again with all external drives disconnected and get no change.
Also, if I leave Mac on sometimes I can login normally and sometimes I find out that it has actually shut down completely by itself. It is not sleeping. I can't seem to turn it on unless I pull power cable.
I have checked temp of unit and it appears to have plenty of ventilation felling only slightly warm to touch. My keyboard is wired and I have a Bluetooth touch pad.
I re-installed the latest "Mavericks" just to make sure but no change. Seems like the shut down issue may have started 1st before I upgraded. When I do get Mac to start back up everything seems normal, no errors. The only thing barking is Google Chrome stating that I can start where I left off. I have not caught it shutting down so I thought it had something to do with the Energy Saving settings but it is at the "Default" setting.
The Mac is definately off and not sleeping, no light on front.
Any tips or help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    -Z

OK, I tried setting Energy Savings to 1 minute. The Mac shut down and would not power back up via the power button, had to pull power plug. So it seems to be tied to the Energy settings.

  • My Imac wont shut down and other questions

    Hello All
I was wondering i you could help me with a few question i have on my imac. (A OS convert after 29 years)
    1) When I select log out or shutdown the machine just hangs at the blue screen with the wheel icon turning. In the end I have to shutdown manually.
    2) I have 2 accounts, Mine and my my wifes. I have .mac and installed backup. how do i backup me and my wifes files as I do not have rights to her user area even though I am an administrator.
    3) where do i find what my procare number is. Is this different from Applecare?
Thank you all for your help

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Congrats on the new Mac.
I see that you have upgraded your OS as well as probably the Apple apps that came with your new Mac. An important step after updating/upgrading the Mac OS and Apple apps is to Repair Permissions on your startup drive. Go to Apps/Utilities/Disk Utility. Highlight your Startup drive in the lefthand list and in the First Aid pane press Repair Permissions. Repair Permissions until no more repairs are reported.
The SMC controls issues on your Mac like startup, shut down and sleeping. The SMC occasionally may need to be reset.

I believe that separate user accounts require separate .mac accounts. Two users can't sync to the same account without overwritting each other. Family accounts are available with a Master and sub accounts.

  • Yosemite 10.10.2 won't shut down and experience frequent finder hangs.

Help! I've only bough my Macbook Air latest version just 3 months ago and now it's giving me lots of headache.
My finder hangs frequently - sometimes during work - the other apps I'm running I'm fine but finder won't respond - I'm unable to open windows, and when I drag my mouse to the desk top, I see a spinning wheel.
When I quit my MAC, sometimes it'll hang at the finder and stop my computer from shutting down.
Tried force quit - won't work
Tried right click on finder - it'll show - finder not responding -
Eventually have to force myself to shut down the computer
I've used disk utility and attempted to fix some permissions.
    One of the log shows:
"Warning: SUID file "systems/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagemtn/ARDAgent.app/contents/MACOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired."
I have not idea what that ARD Agent thing is. Tried finder search I got nothing back.
It also repaired some 'Printers.plist" as well and "Private/var/db/displaypolicyd"
I've run disk utility on different days and there's usually something to 'fix'.
But no matter what I do, my finder still hangs and I wonder if there's anything can be done t

  • Macbook Pro will not shut down AND other issues...

Macbook Pro will not shut down. Not using the POWER button, not using control/alt/command/esc, not using force quit, and obviously not by selecting Sleep or Shut down from the Apple menu.
Force quit will not even pop up when selected.
Top row keys do not work either, have gone into settings and switched them to F keys and back again, no luck.
iPhoto will not import photos and will not shut down, gives me a message stating it is importing photos (nothing is connected to computer though). Baffling.
HELP! Computer is only a month old
    Thank you everyone xx

Please make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.

  • My Mac won't Shut Down and is running Slow

It began with my Mac not shutting down or restarting.  The shutdown process will end with a white screan and the thinking icon in the center.
Slowly, over a few weeks, the comuter began running slowly.  Now my apps seem to be freezing on me often.  iPhoto, Aperature, & Light Room have all frozen on me at some point.  Other programs run slow.
Do I have a hardware problem?
    A Virus?
thanks in advance for your help.

First question is how much free disk space do you have?  Generally, around 10%+ is needed for OS X usage.
While you may not have spinning beach balls, see these two FAQs for things to check:

  • My pc won't shut down and connected devices are not communicating sucessfully

    I have a HP p6741c with Windows 7.
My computer will not shut down anymore.  I've had to do a hard shut down multiple times.
Also, my connected devices don't communicate properly.
I have a scan snap S1500 scanner, stamps.com scale, and an hp laser jed pro400 connected.  The scanner and printer don't respond anymore when I try to scan and print.  I have to manually shut down the computer, restart, then the printer will print docs from the queue that wouldn't print before but then the printer goes back to non-responsive again.
    Please help!

I would recommend downloading CCleaner and running it on your computer to clean it up a little bit. That may help to resolve some of your issues.
Here is a link to the download: CCleaner
Also, are you running any kind of Malware or Virus protection on your computer? Both of those can cause issues with how your computer operates.

  • My iPhone 4s 5.01 loses wifi and won't shut down and can't open settings.

This is crazy. iPhone 4S running 5.01.
Twice now I've lost Wifi and cold not connect. When going to open settings to check status it won't open. The screen just crashes back to the springboard.
Then trying to force a shutdown I can't. The sleep button you usually hold for 4 seconds does not do anything so I have to hold sleep and home down to force a hard reset.
Has anyone else had this happen?
I've not performed a hard reset this time but I can't leave it like this for long. Does anyone need me to do anything before I do hard reset it?
    Fred

I'm having this problem too. Exactly the same problem.
Mine is a new phone which I restored some settings to from my old 3g.
The problem has happened a dozen times and is getting more and more frequent.
What is really weird is that if you call the phone you can hear it rining on the call but NOTHING on the phone.
Getting completely hacked off with this.

  • Start-up / shut-down (and other) problems with ZFS over iSCSI

    Hi,
I've had a limited time in which to try some concepts on an evaluation x4500 server. This is unfortunately my last day, so by the time anyone can reply I will probably not be able to to further tests, but maybe someone will be able to reproduce the issues.
I'm using the evaluation server to export some iSCSI targets, and I'm connecting to them from my laptop, which has a fresh installation of SXDE 01/08. I was able to attach to the targets with
    iscsiadm add static-config \
    iqn.1986-03.com.sun:02:f4281081-c3fc-e448-c8f0-943d8861c9e8,192.168.15.62
    iscsiadm add static-config \
    iqn.1986-03.com.sun:02:371c6fe7-f0c8-e02c-c865-baef90fb71ce,192.168.15.62
    iscsiadm add static-config \
    iqn.1986-03.com.sun:02:ee74d5de-3046-6295-f35e-afe60e13db23,192.168.15.62
iscsiadm modify discovery -s enableThis made the appropriate entries appear in /dev/dsk so I could then set up a simple zpool and zfs filesystem with:
    zpool create -m none dPool c3t010000144FA70C1400002A0047C2BF73d0 \
    c3t010000144FA70C1400002A0047C2BF81d0 c3t010000144FA70C1400002A0047C2BF8Bd0
zfs create -o mountpoint=/data -o sharenfs=on dPool/dataThe general concept I'm testing is having a ZFS-based server using an IP SAN as a growable source of storage, and making the data available to clients over NFS/CIFS or other services. In principle this solution should also allow failover to another server, since all the ZFS data and metadata is in the IP SAN, not on the server. Although not done in this example it should also be possible to run raidz across multiple iSCSI disk arrays. However, it's not been a bed of roses. I've had a lot of errors in dmesg like the following, which I think are causing zfs/zpool commands to stall at times:
    Feb 28 14:30:39 F4060 iscsi: [ID 866572 kern.warning] WARNING: iscsi connection(ffffff014f6b6b78) protocol error - received an unsupported opcode:0x41

Surely they should be talking the same language!
The main problems however are with shutdown and start-up. On occasions, I suspect that the ordering of ZFS, iSCSI and network services gets a bit out of sync. On one occasion the laptop even refused to complete the shutdown because it was reporting a continuous stream of console messages like

943d8861c9e8I also get these on start-up, where it looks like ZFS tries to load the zpool configuration before iSCSI has found the disks, and even worse, iSCSI is starting up before nwamd has time to do its network auto-magic, and complains that the devices are unavailable.
If these problems sorted themselves out after everything came up, I wouldn't really mind some temporary complaints in the log file, but what I get after a reboot is a working zpool but an unmounted ZFS filesystem! Here is what I have today:
    bash-3.2# zpool status
      pool: dPool
    state: ONLINE
scrub: scrub completed with 0 errors on Thu Feb 28 14:33:43 2008

dPool/data   480M  28.9G   480M  /dataThis all looks fine, and you can see that I was even able to scrub the pool data with no problems. But where are the 480MB of data I have put in the /data mountpoint:
    bash-3.2# ls /data
    bash-3.2# df -h /data
Filesystem             size   used  avail capacity  Mounted on
/dev/dsk/c1d0s0         15G   4.4G    11G    30%    /As you can see, /data is unmounted, causing df to revert to the / filesystem containing the empty /data mountpoint, instead of showing the zpool mount.
Since zfs is supposed to take care of its own mounts rather than using vfstab, I can't use "mount /data" to force this to mount. The only workaround I've found is to export and import the zpool. Then I get the filesystem to reappear:
    bash-3.2# df -h /data
Filesystem             size   used  avail capacity  Mounted on
dPool/data              29G   480M    29G     2%    /dataDoes anyone know if these are known issues with snv_79b, and is there a fix available or in the works?
    TIA,
    Graham

EasyE, Welcome to the discussion area!
    (a) Call Apple and get your iMac G5 fixed since it is in the repair extension group. Don't waste your time doing anything else.
    (b) This area is for discussing the iMac G4. Since you have an iMac G5 in the future you should post in the iMac G5 discussion area.

  • 2 problems -- ipod won't shut down and song skips

    Hi --
on certain songs (I've figured out I think that it's those with album art), I select the song but the ipod plays the next song in whatever selection I have.
Also, sometimes I have a very hard time shutting off the ipod.
I keep installing the new updates of firm-ware but with the same problem ... any ideas???

Try restoring your iPod with latest iPod Updater... Yes, I know, you updated.

  • HT1349 i think my i touch has mind of its own won't shut down and navigates to web sites i did,nt intend to go any ideas what,s the problem

is their any person out there having same problem as me ? with their i touch it seem.s  to have to have i mind of it,s, own ? every time i go to website our play music it takes off to either apple site or jumps to itouch settings

Well, firstly, you have posted on the wrong section of the forum. This is an iPad discussions. Anyway, regarding your issue, try to reinstall the iOS. I've never heard of iOS behaving like this. However, jailbroken iOS mayhave some wierd behaviours because of the access granted to the apps.
    I hope it helps

  • PS cs3 and Illustrator cs3 won't shut down

I have these apps intalled on two other win 7 x64 computers with
out any problem but on this win 7 x64 system both ps cs3 and illustrator cs3  hang up when I try to close them. It is a little intermittent on illustrator and at least once it has closed properly but most of the time it takes about 2-5 mins to shut down or it won't shut down at all.
Photoshop is worse and always either takes 3-5 mins if it does shut down but in most cases it will not shut down and I have to force quit the application. Any suggestions please.

Security settings for the Adobe licensing service or something liek that, possibly Version Cue! Run as admin to diagnose, then manually configure the services...
