Mini 2010 server - replace a disk with SSD one

Following a useful guide of ifixit.com and some video on YouTube i've replaced one of the two disk with an SSD one (32 gb, only for startup)...
It seemed all ok. The first startup was successfull. But when i started again the mini it began to blink the light and emit a beep (only one) eteri about 5 second....
I've tryed to disconnect RAM. Disconnect the disk again. Remove a disk. Reinstalling the origina l disk...
Notice that the sturtup disk is the one that has not bene interested in the operations.
The mini continues to bip and blink the light. And the standard boing neve happens..
I don't know what to do...

it was an hardware issue...

  • Fail to enter bootcamp win7 after replacing CD-Ron with SSD

    I replaced CD-Ron with SSD.
I successfully enter mac on both HD and SSD, failed with enter win7 on HD.
It stops at black screen and a write bar shining on the corner.
Is it because the windows system can't find my CD-Ron?Then how?
    Tks. ^^

So I try booting without the DVD player attached, and there is no Windows option or startup item.
I try booting with the DVD plugged in, but without the USB attached, and I get the Windows DVD to show as a start up option: I click it and it sits with a black screen and the blinking prompt.
I am seriously at a loss here folks.  What the heck.
    The machine sees the DVD.
It does not see or acknowledge the USB stick as anything past the BOOTCAMP function of putting files on it, but nothing happens with it past that.
Am I missing something in BootCamp?  Am I missing an option?
    Cello?

  • Can I change hard disk with SSD drive in Toshiba NB100?

Can I change hard disk with SSD drive in Toshiba NB100 ?
The Hard disc in this model is same size as SSD 2.5" drive?

    Hi
As mentioned above: the SATA controller is supported so you will need to use a SATA SSD drive usually it should not be a big problem to upgrade the notebook with an SSD drive in some cases it could be possible that the SSD firmware needs to be updated but this depends on the SSD drive manufacturer
However, the SSD drive is much faster than a common HDD. Therefore you should notice a faster performance

Before installing a new drive - it is generally better to install it in a external usb enclosure and connect it to your Macbook so you can format/erase the new drive and make an exact clone of the drive you wish to install, unless you plan on doing a clean install.

  • Is it possible to use the Mac mini as the start up disk with an older iMac (the basketball with moveable screen) as the monitor?

I really, really love the moveable screen to our old desktop iMac, and would hate to lose that feature, but, let's face it, it isn't Intel.  Since you can use other hard drives as start-up disks, would it be possible to do so in this instance? and how difficult would it be?

A slim chance, only if the new Mini was running a Universal version of 10.5.x, which the newest ones cannot.
But, you could display & run the Mini on the old iMacs screen with Screen Sharing on the Mini, & the iMac using Chicken of the VNC...
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/cotvnc/files/cotvnc/Chicken%20of%20the%20VNC%202 .0b4/cotvnc-20b4.dmg/download
Assuming the iMac is running an OSX version the CoVNC can use.

  • Qosmio X500-10W - Can I replace the HDD with another one?

    Hello
I have a Qosmio X500-10W with two HDD Toshiba MK5055GSX 500GB 5400RPM 8MB ??SATA II but is one of hs so I wonder if I can be replaced by a more powerful style HDD 750GB 7200tr / min 16MB Toshiba course?
    merci

    Hey,
Your question is a little bit hard to understand but I think you want to replace the HDD with another (faster) model, right?
Well, thats no problem. HDDs with 7200rpm will work, they are a little bit louder but they are faster so if you need more performance no problem.
Also 750GB or more is no problem because SATA interface is not capacity limited. Theoretically 1TB or more should also work.
Anyway, you can buy the 750GB you mentioned it will work. :)

  • Does apple replace iphone 4 with refurb ones?

So i replaced my iphone 4 with another one because it had issues. I asked the genius employee if i will be getting a new or refurbished one. He told me i would be getting a new one. He also said that my old one will be sent to a fatory to be recycled "properly" Now a friend of mine said she is friend with 2 apple employees that said they replace it with refurb ones they just lie and say they give new ones.

I should correct you in that carriers seem to have a different return date than Apple does. Verizon has a 14 day policy, and Apple's is 30. I wish I remembered that when I bought my 4 since I could have returned it for a 4S...hm.
Also, there isn't really any way to tell the difference between New and Refurb, even when using SN# identification methods (build number, production week, etc.).
You'd also want to restore from a backup of the old device, to load app data, messages, contacts, etc. You wouldn't want to restore from backup, say if OP had purchased a new computer.

  • Replace playing video with new one in osmf player

    Hi,
I have a problem with loading new video in osmf player. First video is loaded from the emmbed code, and I use ProxyElement to comunicate with MediaLEment and to load my plugin. But after some actions in my plugin I need to load another video in the Player. By changing the DisplayedObject from the proxiedElement I am loading the new video but the old video from emmbed code is still runing on the back. Does anyone know how to remove mediaElement created by the player or to replace with new one, ot at least to disable that video from playing. I tried with everything and it doesn't work.
    Thanks

    hi,
you can change into new Data Source.
From new Data Source you can load data into the old ods.
but if you want to kepp the old records as it is, then don't delete data in the ods.
    hope this helps......

  • How to replace original photos with modified ones?

    Hi from Paris France ,
is there a way to get rid of original photos and replace them by the modified ones (ie "modified" are becoming "original")?
    Thx

    it is bad philosophy anyway...
Actually iPhoto is following the digital asset management best practice philosophy of always keeping a digital negative untouched and intact. iPhoto is an entry level DAM application for the general public. To do what you want you might look into the more advanced DAM applications that will let you do what you want. You can learn about them at The DAM Forum for professional photographers.
I use Media Expression which I think is one of the best as my primary DAM and iPhoto for special projects. But alas it doesn't not have Faces and Places. It does read geo-tagged image files but you'll have to assign "Location" identity to them by editing the IPTC metadata fields with EM.
One method to avoid having the portrait photos modified by iPhoto it to upload the photos to a folder on the Desktop before importing. There you can losslessly rotate those files that need it. It also gives you an opportunity to rename the files to something more informative that IMG_001.jpg.

  • Water spill MBP, apple said they'd replace destroyed parts with refurbished ones?

So after I spilled water under my MBP, I decided to call apple and let them know what had happened. They said that they'd replace any destroyed parts with refurbished ones. Will this cost anything? If the damage is excessive will they replace my MBP?

since water damage is not covered by warranty, I cant imagine they would replace parts for free.  They certainally will not give you a new Mac as the damage was caused by you.  I would expect that you would have to pay, but that is up to Apple.  If they do replace parts for free, you are in the minority and should be ever thankful to them and keep liquids far away from your mac in the future.

  • How do I install Windows 8 on Mountain Lion (mac mini) 2010 Server using bootcamp with out Optical Drive?

I have a 2010 Mac Mini server running 10.8.4 (12E55).  I just bought a brand new copy of Windows 8 from micrsoft.  I have tried using boot camp and it will not recognize a burned DVD in my remote optical drive on my laptop running windows 7 or my macbook running Lion 10.7.5.   I have had Microsoft on both of my computers remoted in for about 8 hours and they tried just about everything that I've tried.
Microsofts tech support has made me a bootable DVD and a bootable Flash Drive through remote desktop (awsome good job microsoft tech support).  I have even tried formatting my mac mini's second 500GB hard drive to FAT32 using this whole disc as my windows partition.  I know that when I go to install windows 8 it is going to reformat the drive to NTFS but all the articles that I've found, say this is what you have to do to get the drive formatted properly to get the ball rolling and get windows will fix it when it goes to install by reformatting to NTFS.
Ok so right now I have my second 500GB hdd on my mac mini formatted to FAT32 and I have tried to reboot holding my option key like I do on my mac book.  If I want to boot to a different hdd on my macbook all I do is hold the OPTION key during start up and you get prompted to choose one of the bootable disc that is on your computer.  Well if I put my USB drive which is bootable on my macbook into my macbook and do this right now its not showing up.
Now I just put the DVD that they made me in my macbook and it shows up as bootable disc.  But the USB doesn't.  (1 hour later)  I just got microsft to remake the USB drive and am going to try that again so ta ta for now and I'll come back on to post to tell you if it works.

Parallels, Fusion, and VirtualBox are available from their respective sites. Read their installation instructions which explain how to install Windows.

  • Mac Mini 2010 Server Snow Leopard Install Issues

I'm trying to install, well reinstall, OS X server on my 2010 Mac Mini Server. Everything is completely stock and I'm reinstallling via a Mac Book Air Superdrive and the OS X disc that came with my Mac mini. I'm installing it on the main disk partitioned to 100gb. Everytime I go to install it goes to restart and then I have no video. When I power down manually after this it only shows the CDROM as the boot disk but the drive shows ~7gb used when I get into disc tools. I've done this about 3 times now and I'm just about ready to return it. I'm using a Sony Bravia HDTV as the monitor via HDMI port for display. I don't have any other displays or macs to use either.

Jnko, I've reinstalled the OSx server on my 2nd HD using the MBair Superdrive and all went well. After installation there is only 7G used so that is proper.
If you're losing the video, try unplugging the HDMI cable and replugging at the point of failure. This usually resets the video.
    Hope this helps.
