Mini and 60" Display and Audio

Hello All,
Has anyone used a 60" screen TV or similar size with a 16:9 ratio for their Mac Mini? The native res for this TV is 1920x1080, will the mini be able to handle this and if so how skewed will the picture be?
Also how would I get audio to the TV from the Mini, would a HDMI to DVI cable carry the sound to the TV as well?

Regardless of screen size, the resolution of 1920x1080 is fully supported. Dealing with overscan or underscan issues depends on the settings available on your TV, and which model of mini and connection type you use.
An HDMI - DVI cable does not carry audio. You would need to use a concurrent audio connection that can be paired with an HDMI port. Most newer TVs have at least one HDMI port that is already paired with a set of stereo RCA ports (red and white) and/or an optical audio input. Some even have a 3.5 mm (1/8") stereo audio jack. Very recent TVs may even offer the ability to select which video and audio sources you wish to use completely independently, via the settings menus.
Could you post the make and model of your TV for more precise answers?

Ipad mini with retina display and iOS 8.0.2 blue screen issues

My iPad mini with retina display with iOS8.0.3 is still showing up blue screen occasionally every day and restarting automatically. How to solve this?

I am facing the same issue too. But how come you have 8.0.3 while the whole world is on 8.0.2 ?
I tried resetting my iPad, restoring it, hard reset through DFU mode but NONE worked. It seemed to be okay for few days but then it started getting the blue screen restarts again.
Monday is the day, hoping 8.1 will fix this issue. ELSE Apple should shut the f*** up and instead of releasing all new line of products and concentrate on the disastrous OS it is rolling out.

IPad mini with retina display and airplay issues?

Hey guys, So i bought an iPad mini with retina display last week. Have an ipad 3 at home that we've been using before that. For some reason, using Airplay from the Mini doesnt seem to work properly. I use the same apps (Dailymotion, Youtube and a few links online) on the iPad 3 and they work fine. But whenever i use in my mini, the video stops after a few mins. it stops playing on the tv, and continues on the ipad. Is anyone else having the same problem? BTW all my devices have up to date software so that is not an issue i think . .Be good to get some help/ feedback /suggestions about this . Thanks

W-2 and 1099R display and print in Portal

Hi,
I need to get the W-2 and 1099 forms available for an employee in the Portal, they should be able to display and print these forms. (For W2C's I will use the standard W2 reprint request).
I have tried simulating PU19 but the parameters that needs to be passed is getting quite complex and I was wondering if someone has come across this very tricky development. I basically want the user to receive a screen with one dropdown, the year, the user can then choose a prior year and request the W2 or 1099 to be displayed and printable.
The client is on Enterprise 4.7 Ext2.00 with EP6 SP2.

Seems like I will be using a custom version of RPCTXSU0 for this. This doesn't seem to be something that is a requirement at clients as I had 0 responses ...

I am reading the TemSe file which was sent to the Tax Authorities which I think is not an optimal solution as there is filename hardcoding involved but this seems to be the best option for now...

Anyone having Audio Issues with new Mac Mini, new Thunderbolt Display and new Pegasus R4?

I can't listen to the built-in speakers on my brand new Apple thunderbolt monitor to the terrible audio quality. I'm running Mac Lion on a new Mac Mini with a brand new Promise Pegasus R4 - all purchased in January 2012. The entire setup is connected via Thunderbust errh, I mean Thunderbolt.

Mac Mini 5, Dual Displays, and a Projector?

I'm considering purchasing a Mac Mini 5, but need it to support dual monitors and a projector simultaneously. When I use the system, I will be running skype, video camera, audio, and a projector (for power point presentations, websites, youtube videos, etc) at the same time.

Gnome-music and Rhythmbox display wrong audio tags

Hi,
I've seen that both these two audio players (and maybe others, I don't know) show wrong audio tags. The "album year" tag is set correctly for all my .m4a songs (it can be seen from nautilus or from any tagging software) but Rhythmbox and Gnome-music always show the wrong year, without any apparent reason.
Did anyone encounter the same problem? How to fix?

Yeah I found that I had inconsistencies with Rhythmbox and tags as well. This is how I fixed my problems.
1) Install Easytag.
2) Open Rhythmbox, right click on the song (or select all the tracks and then right click) and hit properties.
3) Change the incorrect tag to what it should be.
4) Open Easytag, locate the tarcks that you just edited in Rhythmbox. You should find that they are highlighted in bold. Select the tracks and then click the "Save changes to selected files" button in the Easytag toolbar. If you've selected multiple tracks then you'll need to tick the box saying you want to apply the action to all files.
The tags should be consistent across all your music programs now. Hope this helps!

Compatibility issues MacBook (Yosemite and Retina Display) and CS6?

I recently had to buy a new MacBook because of a mainboard defect of my old one. The old one had one of those fabulous anti-glare-displays with high resolution.
Now, the just sell these retina displays, which I detest.
I tried to work with Photoshop and InDesign. It is almost impossible to do so, because everything looks blurred. I have no idea how to fix it. Neither does Apple Support.
I´d hate if I had to switch to Creative Cloud because it is way to pricey for a part-time user like me.
So I´d be very, very happy if someone would happen to know a way out of misery for this.

There is nothing to fix. In CS6 only PS and AI support Retina and you do that by installing the respective updates.

Why can't we have superdrive and retina display and HDMI in one macbook pro?

Its good to have a lighter macbook pro for those who don't need the superdrive....BUT, What about those (like myself) who desperately want a superdrive in their macbook pro and also the retina display!! And, Why can't we have a regular HDMI in macbook pro with a superdrive....this is so frustrating! Whats wrong with apple!

No need, as long as Apple continues to offer a notebook line-up that includes built-in optical drives, to buy a Windows machine... yet.
As I said, the only thing that I use my SuperDrive for now is backups of all those digital software deliveries, documents, etc. If I finally break down and buy an external Blu-ray drive, I won't use the SuperDrive at all. But right now I have almost 12 years of back-ups on DVD, both single and dual layer - so, for now, I need my optical drive.
I'm hoping that - one day - Apple will sell MacBook Pros with Blu-ray drives. Hey, I can wish, right?

"alarm and event display" crashes my application

Dear All,
I use the "alarm and event disply.vi" in my DSC application. It works fine: I can acknowledge alarms, events etc. BUT...
When I double click the alarm item (or press Alt-Enter) and watch the alarm properties in the Alarm Properties dialog, I can usually watch the properties for some time, selecting the next or previous alarm item, but most often than not, my application just crashes. I don't get any LabVIEW error dialogs. Only Windows is telling me that the application stopped working and it just closes giving me no explanation. Sometimes I don't even see the Windows message.
I've tried this on two different computers... same boat!
I'm using:
- LV2011
- Windows 7
In my application I create the shared variables programmatically, set alarm thresholds programmatically etc.
Anybody had the same problem?

Well…I think I have isolated the problem, and I have recreated it in the Boiler example. Here’s what’s happening:
If you watch the properties of the alarm in the Alarm and Event Display, and if this alarm “disappears” at this time, the application will crash. This will happen for example when this variable is set to AUTO ACK.
You can try setting the R02 pump to zero. This will cause the L01 level to increase reporting an alarm. Now if you set the flows so that the level start decreasing (I set the outflow to max, and the inflow tozero), and immediately click the HI HI alarm and watch it’s properties, the application will crash at the time when this alarm is cleared due to the decreasing level (AUTO ACK).
It also seems a “little non-deterministic” but this may be my own impression.
Anybody had a similar problem or is able to recreate it?

HP Photosmart C310 Series Printer Display and power LED not lit...still able to print.

I am not sure what happened. I was printing, walked upstairs, came back down and the display and power LED on my Photosmart C310 were off. I thought the circuit for the outlet had tripped but that was not the case. I unplugged the printer, disconnected the power supply and let it sit for 2 minutes. Plugged it back in and nothing changed. Forced off printer/reboot?..nothing changed. Tried online utility. Useless. Is this common? Is there a solution? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Have had problems with HP and Compaq in past and obviously made a mistake buying again. Product is past warranty and I am not willing to pay to speak with a "representative" who is on a computer using a diagnostic tree program literally taking shots in the dark. Thanks but no thanks HP. I would love to Office Space this friggin' printer but I'll hold off for now..

I experince the exact same issues and have for most of the time I have owned my C310A. I've gone through all the firmware upgrades, the useless patches etc. something is WRONG with the printer as my power modules continues to pump out the voltage after the printer shuts down(I've confirmed with a voltmeter). My printer will be printing a photo and the display will shut off, the power light and wireless LED lights go off BUT the photo continues to printer and the carriage will return to its resting spot THEN remain unresponsive till I go through the unplug routine. It's no wonder HP discontinued this printer and I'm throughly disgusted at tthe lack of quality in the components. I('ve gone through at leat 5 HP printers in the last6 years, each printer failing to either power issues or ink delivery systems. There is a very obvious lack of quality control. I feel as thoughHP sells the shoddy printers to force continual upgrades and flow of ink sales. The design and engineering and features of the C310 A is to be commended but the qulaity and reliabilty of the mfg. product is abysmaly horrible. HP once had a solid quality control methodology that was second to none now its just too little and too late.

IPad mini with Retina Display volume problems

I just recently picked up a 32 gig iPad mini with Retina Display, and everything about it is great except for the fact that the speakers don't have very good volume, they can be all the way up and still aren't as loud as my iPad 2 or my iPhone 5, is this normal?

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

Can I use the same adapter for my ipad mini w/ retina display as I use for my iphone 4S?

I have an iPad mini with retina display and an iPhone 4S. Have both the small and large adapters (5W and 12W I believe) that came with the two products. I am traveling abroad and want to know if I can just use the smaller adapter (little cube-shaped one, 5W) for both the ipad and the iphone. OR, can I forgo taking the Apple adapters that were supplied, and instead use one of the travel adapters that has two 2.1-Amp USB ports?

You can use the 5W to charge the iPhone, but if it charges the iPad Mini Retina, it will be slow, so you would have to turn it off and let it sit forever to get charged. If you were going to take just one, take the 12 W on as you can use it to charge both devices without issue.
