Mini Bridge in InDesign

Mini Bridge in InDesign does not show folders within the Picture folder on my Mac platform. How can I resolve this?

It shows it for me (below). But did you notice that the folders aren't mixed in with the pictures in the Picture folder. They appears in a list on the left as shown.
If you're not seeing that, try restoring your InDesign preferences and/or your Bridge preferences. For InDesign use this method:
Trash, Replace, Reset, or Restore the application Preferences
For Bridge, quit out of the application. Launch it, and hold down Cmd + Shift + Option immediately after launch until you're asked to restore preferences.

  • Opening mini bridge in Indesign

I have the updated and full versions of Indesign and Bridge, however I want to open Mini bridge in Indesign to use the programmes together but when I go to the window button there is no option to open the Mini Bridge.
Any advice on how to open mini bridge??

Check under Edit > Menus... to be sure it is listed and visible.

  • How do I enable mini bridge in InDesign CC

Mini Bridge seems to be missing from my Creative Cloud versions of InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
How do I enable Mini Bridge?
I am up to date on all versions of the apps and I am running on a Mac.
I am able to use the full version of Bridge for browsing.

Unlike Peter Spier, I have installed Bridge CC and it is operational. I followed the instructions in the link to "trash" preferences. (Really, he should have given the backup advice BEFORE telling you the steps to delete... for those who followed our cake recipe given last week, here is the antidote...)
Alas, deleting preferences didn't seem to help. I've deleted preferences for both Bridge and ID. Mini-bridge does not appear in the Window menu nor does it display when I shift-click the Br button on the menu. Bridge itself works fine -- so things are not at a standstill -- but this is annoying. Somewhere in my switch from CS6 to CC mini-bridge went away.
Anyone else with an idea what I should try?

  • InDesign CS5.5 Mini Bridge hang

When I try to launch Mini Bridge within Indesign CS5.5 it hangs, giving a useless message "waiting for Bridge CS 5.1".
When I try to update Bridge CS5 it says the only update is a Camera Raw update and then fails to load it.
When I run the Adobe Support Advisors it says there are no problems.

Check this link and follow the steps, it may help :-

  • Indesign and Mini Bridge

    Hi!
I am using mini bridge in indesign but if i select some files and press space to get "quick preview" after i exit my files go down in the list. I have few files and i whont to chose what is the best, but it's so irritant.
If someone need example i will record 10 sec video to see what is going on.

Right click - go to review mode.
Then right click on images to add a label.
I think you can change labels and colours in bridge itself.

  • Item appears twice in Mini Bridge InDesign CS6

One of our guys here keeps seeing duplicate items in Mini Bridge in InDesign CS6. When looking at the folder in Bridge, Finder or Windows Explorer, we can see just one of each image in there, but looking at the folder via Mini Bridge shows one or two of the images in duplicate.
It seems it doesn't matter which of the duplicates he drags on the page, either of them works fine. But it is cluttering up his Mini Bridge panel and he's worried that he might accidentally delete items by trying to get rid of the duplicates.
It only affects this one user. I've suggested deleting his InDesign preference files it's not fixing the problem.
Any suggestions? I have to say that Mini Bridge in InDesign CS6 has been surprisingly problematic compared with CS5. I wish Adobe had left it alone.
    Ali

I suspect the problem is in Bridge, not ID.
Try clearing the Bridge caches or, if that doesn't work, resetting the Bridge prefs. On my Windows system you can do either of those by holding down Ctrl + Alt + Shift as Bridge starts up. On Mac I presume Cmd + Control + Opt + Shift would work the same.

  • Mini Bridge "Waiting for Bridge" error Macintosh

We'd been having this error on a couple of our computers and none of the steps in the KB article http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/error-waiting-for-bridge-cs5.html are working.
We initally set up one computer to be used as our master image. Once we had things working the way we wanted on this computer we cloned the drive using Carbon Copy Cloner and distributed the master image to 3 other computers for testing. Mini Bridge was working fine on the master image. Once we cloned the master we changed the name of the default user account to our intended user's name following Apple's directions for changing user account names. Mini Bridge did not work on any of the user accounts on the cloned computers even those accounts whose names did not change. I even tried creating a new test account and it still does not work.
I've been doing some experimenting removing various Adobe related files and then trying to use the Mini Bridge until I figured out what worked. What I found was I could go to Library/Application Support/Adobe, and using Get Info, make the default user the owner of the Adobe folder. (They already had read/write permissions.) After that they are able to use the Mini Bridge. However, none of my other user accounts can work with the Mini Bridge since they are not owners of the Adobe folder. It seems that Mini Bridge is only able to function if the current user is also the owner of the Adobe folder?
I looked at the permissions on the master for the Adobe folder and it said it was owned by root and belonged to the admin group. On the cloned images it states that it is owned by the default user and belongs to the staff group. I tried using Terminal and changed the owner and group to root and admin as it was on the master, but that didn't make any difference. It will still only work if the default user is actually made the owner of the folder.
We will be cloning several more computers this way and I'd like to figure out why this is not working and see if there is a way to make it work for all users of the computer. I am sure something is happening with permissions on the Adobe folder when the user account is renamed on the clone, however I also did a group of 4 laptops this same way and those cloned computers all work fine under all user accounts.

    Omke,
Thanks for the suggestions. I finally got it working today.
We've been using Bridge for quite a while but the Mini Bridge is new to us as we are just now updating to CS5. I did notice a bit of lag time with Mini Bridge and sometimes it didn't want to display the items on networked drives, but if I hit the backward and forward arrows it would work, so maybe just a screen redraw issue or something there, but other than that it seems to be working ok over our network for now.
Your tip about having only one copy of Bridge open at a time was the key. We have been able to open the same program on multiple user accounts simultaneously before, but I can't say that we have with Bridge. I didn't notice it at first but when you choose Mini Bridge in InDesign it is actually opening the full Bridge in the background though it doesn't open the Bridge window, but looking at my Dock I see where it has been launched. When I would switch to another user account to test the Mini Bridge I wasn't closing out of Bridge in the first account, since I didn't realize it was open, so I'm assuming since it was still open there it could not launch it under the second user. Once I closed out of Bridge on the first account it worked fine on the second.
So think we have it resolved now.
Thanks so much for the tip! This has been driving me crazy for a day and a half. Now I can get on with my other computer set-ups.
By the way, we are ok on the number of CS copies floating around, we have a volume license. :-)

  • Mini Bridge CS6 nav pod needs sorting

How can I resort the folders shown in the Navigation Pod of Mini Bridge in InDesign CS6? They seem to be in a completely random order, and I would at least like to see them in conventional alphanumeric order. I have no problem re-sorting the content in the main viewing panel.

  • Open iphoto folder in mini bridge

I can navigate through my HD to my image and I know the path - however when I open bridge or mini bridge in InDesign it is not there. How can I use an image from within my iPhoto Library in In-design mini bridge?
PS Please dont point me to the tutorial - I have watched that!

The iPhoto Library on the Macintosh is not stored as a searchable folder when you view it from the Finder on the Macintosh. Nor can Bridge or MiniBridge view the images within it. (If you look at it in the Finder it's a single file, and I believe the Macintosh stores it as a "package" file, a container file for the images.)
If you want to place files from iPhoto, you have two options. You can open iPhoto, and you can export out the images you need. Or, you can use the Place command in InDesign. The Macintosh does give access to media in the iPhoto library (and I think movie files) in Open and Place dialogs (but Open wouldn't work in InDesign). As you see in the illustration below, at the bottom of the sidebar is a section that includes "Photos" and that previews images from the iPhoto Library in InDesign.

  • How do you sort mini bridge manually?

Is there a way to sort mini bridge manually? I have manually sorted images for an album design in Bridge but when I open Mini Bridge in Indesign they are sorted by filename. I do not see a sort option to sort manually. Wondering if anybody has a solution other than to rename files from Bridge.
I am using InDesign and Bridge CS6 on a Windows 7 computer via the Adobe cloud.

Yes, when I do that it sorts the albums in the folder by name.
I may have misused terminology, I meant Smart Albums not smart folders, if this makes a difference.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Mini Bridge does not open in InDesign after installing 8.0.2 upgrade

This question was previously posted in the InDesign forum (http://forums.adobe.com/message/5833991#5833991), but it was suggested that I should cross post it here.
I installed InDesign CS6 upgrade 8.0.2.  Now I cannot open Mini Bridge.
If Bridge is not already open,
         - selecting File | Browse in Bridge...  or clicking on the Bridge button: Bridge opens - good!
         - control-click on the Bridge button: I get a Reset Settings error dialog - NOT good!  I cancelled this and Bridge opened fullscreen okay.
         - alt-click on the Bridge button: Two Bridge applications opened fullscreen! - NOT good!
         - shift-click on the Bridge button: Bridge opens, but Mini Bridge does not! - NOT good!
    If Bridge is already open,
         - selecting File | Browse in Bridge... or clicking on the Bridge button: the ruler bars dim and nothing else happens! - NOT good!
         - control-click on the Bridge button: Bridge opens maximized! - good!
         - alt-click on the Bridge button: the already opened Bridge, plus a new Bridge, both open! - is this normal?
         - shift-click on the Bridge button: the ruler bars dim and Mini Bridge does not open! - NOT good!
I have tried resetting the preferences in Bridge and rebooted after doing so.
My main concern is that I cannot get Mini Bridge to open at all.  I can ignore the other problems mentioned above, if I can just get Mini Bridge to open.
This problem does not exist in Photoshop CS6.
I have restored my C: drive from backup twice and tried the upgrade a total of three times.  The results are the same each time.
Does anyone have any idea what is causing my problem and how I might correct it?  I am running 64-bit Windows 7 Professional SP1, 3.40 GHz Intel Core i7-3770 CPU, 32.0 GB installed memory.

Sorry to hear that, forgot to mention the resetting of preferences in InDesign.
Have you also tried that (ctrlAltShift while starting ID)?
I'm afraid I have not really more ideas and I am a Mac user and don't know anything relevant about Windows.
And ultimate you have of course the option to reinstall CS6 after an official uninstall in combination with the Adobe Clean Tool. But before doing so read all instructions and have a proper back up of all relevant customized settings, workspaces etc.

  • Mini Bridge Missing from InDesign CS6 after Upgrade to InDesign Version 8.1

I discussed this same problem https://forums.adobe.com/message/5833991 after upgrading to the prior version 8.0.2 of InDesign.
After upgrading to InDesign Version 8.1, Mini Bridge no longer works.  Mini Bridge does not show under the Window menu and shift-clicking the Bridge icon opens the full Bridge, not Mini Bridge.
With the prior version 8.0.2 problem, I was able to recover Mini Bridge by doing a re-install of InDesign under Window's Safe Mode.  Microsoft has somehow changed Safe Mode and I can no longer do the reinstall using Safe Mode.  I have tried several different ways of reinstalling version 8.1, but none of them correct this problem.  Still no Mini Bridge.
Mini Bridge does work in Photoshop CS6 with no problem.
I have read through all of the messages that seem to relate to this problem in this forum, but none of the suggested solutions work for me.
Can anyone provide me with an answer?  If not, how do I get help from Adobe?  I am willing to pay for support, if necessary.

RESOLVED - I can't believe it, but I have actually figured this out.
Getting frustrated with going in circles, I decided to dig into security options.  First off, I opened Windows' Properties for the start-up icon for InDesign.  Right off, I noticed under the Compatibility tab that InDesign was set to run in Compatibility Mode for Windows XP (Service Pack 3).  This did not seem right, so I turned off the option to run in Compatibility Mode and re-started up InDesign.  Low and behold, the option Window | Mini Bridge was now displayed!  And it worked!
Sorry to have bothered you gentlemen with this problem.  I really appreciate your assistance!
    Mark.

  • If I don't know how to use mini bridge in Photoshop and InDesign.

I tried to use mini bridge from photoshop and inDesign both but unsuccessfully. Displays message "Waiting for Bridge CS5..." and it seems for hours and hours but not working... .
But Adobe Bridge is working perfectly. Does anyone has the same problem?

So, I have the same problem with the mini bridge not loading. I noticed it also wouldn't load at my school on their Mac computers, too. I wondered if it had anything to do with me only having the free trial but the school's computer isn't free trial. I looked at the two solutions you've provided.
    1. When I went to the following...
    Win 64 bit machines: \Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\SwitchBoard\SwitchBoard.exe
There was no SwitchBoard folder, or SwitchBoard.exe on my computer anywhere... (Windows 8 64 bit)
    2. I then tried to see about your second solution and followed the link... it doesn't support my computer version ><
So I'm not really sure what to do since I need to get this working in order to complete my class assignment.... I am using the free trial at the moment but plan to buy the monthly plan through Adobe Creative Cloud for Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.

  • Mini-Bridge hangs in Indesign CC

Using Mac OSX Maverick on an Imac. Running 8mb of Ram. I have been an Indesign user since ID2 came out.
Prior to upgrading to Maverick, I did not have a problem with the mini-bridge in IDCC. Since the upgrade, I am constantly getting the "waiting for bridge" message and it just sits there. One time it sat there overnight, spinning and "waiting on bridge". The problem is so bad I've abandoned mini-bridge completly and rely on Adobe Bridge. This is an acceptable solution but it does take a tad bit longer to switch out of ID, find the artwork I'm looking for, drag it to a box and then switch back to ID to resize it.
I have searched the forums and have tried the solutions that have been posted but most of those were for ID CS5 or earlier. And none of them have solved the problem.
I have deleted all the Adobe Creative Cloud software from my computer and have downloaded new versions. Still doesn't solve the problem. I tried creating a new user on my computer and it solved it for a short time, but created other problems since all my files are on my main user.
Tried communicating with Adobe tech support which reminds me of the old saying about female anatomy features on a male pig. Even got bumped up to a Tier 2 support person, who actually suggested erasing my hard drive and reformating.  Not going to happen.
Anyone have a more reasonable solution?

Steve. Removed all autoload software except for Flash. No joy.
mini bridge still not functioning properly.
I removed the autoload software, rebooted. started bridge and rebuilt preferences and deleted cache. Started Indesign. Open mini bridge window. opened document and attempted to use mini-bridge to place art on page.
