Mini calendar in mail missing after Lion installation

mini calendar in mail missing after Lion installation

>After installing Lion (intel I-Mac 2g ram). My Microsoft Office 2004 no longer runs.
Upgrade to a Universal compatible version of Office or equivalent.  http://www.neooffice.org/ is the least expensive alternative, though importing Entourage into iCal, Mac OS X Mail, and Addressbook works best if the data was exported from Entourage while still in Snow Leopard.
>Also, when I select "printer friendly" pages in Safari or Firefox, I get a "missing plugin" message.
When you upgraded, did you make sure that Safari was installed in the Applications folder?  If not, you may have to redownload Safari from http://www.apple.com/safari/ as it happens to be the same version.  Firefox double check is already Lion compatible.  For more on upgrading to Lion, see my FAQ*:

  • ITunes does not start after Lion installation

    hi,
after upgrading to the latest iTunes version and to Lion, I get "The file “iTunes Library.itl” cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. Would you like to download iTunes now?".
    Precise:
I upgraded iTunes to the latest version (from the previous one, I am a regular upgrader) yesterday afternoon around 15:00, then I worked several hours on my iTunes library (including some new buys). At night I then installed Lions. After starting Lions, iTunes does not start anymore.
I have read the threads about copying old library files from the "previous iTunes Libraries" folder. But if I do that, I will loose the entire afternoon work. Anyway it I cannot understand why iTunes now believes to be older after Lion installation than before...
    Can somebody please help?

    Hi,
after backing up, I downloaded the latest version again and it really worked.
Strange that evidently the Lion installation did revert yesterdays upgrade from iTunes. Now it works, including all my latest changes from yesterday.
    Case solved:)

  • Where do I find the Library in a Time Machine backup after Lion installation?

Where do I find the Library in a Time Machine backp after Lion installation?

You can access the backups of another computer by holding down the option key and selecting "Browse other Time Machine disks" from the Time Machine menu in the menu bar. As for getting to the Library folder, you would have to use something like the free application "Tinker Tool" (not "Tinker Tool System") to make hidden files visible in the Finder, then enter Time Machine.

  • Cant print document after lion installation with my fuji xerox printer

i cant print after lion installation with my fuji xerox c1110b printer, even after i remove and reinstall the driver.
in the print window  under status indicate error,
for other program even the print button is not working,  need help
    thanks

As a temporary fix until the new driver, you can still use Generic PCL Laser printer selection to print black and white on Fuji Xerox C1110B.  When adding the new driver, select Options & Supplies.  When the new window rolss down, click on the middle Driver button.  Then select Generic PCL Printer, and OK.
Maybe there is another substitute driver we can use to print in color as well until Fuji Xerox gets its act together?

Pararells desktop 5 can't open after Lion installation.  does pararells desktop 6  work with Lion?

Latest build (6.0.12094) works fine with Lion.  V4&5 do not work.  If you upgrade to V6 now you get a free upgrade to V7 (according to the Parallels site).  V7 is coming soon or now if you are a registered V6 user.

  • Mini calendar for Mail?

This may be stupid, but does anyone know whether there is a mini-calendar for Apple Mail that can be inserted bottom left corner where the Mail Activity square appears? This would be a handy utility.

    Hello,
Your point 2, random plings: I have heard some plings on my 700. Checking open data connections immediately after hearing those, there was one connection open related to "messaging". Have not been able to verify the reason, but it might be some messaging setting causing it.
Related to that, I have not found yet a data connection log file. Those connections and especially time stamps thereof were used to be logged with the calls and messages, but in the Symbian Belle at least I have yet to find it. Only amount of data transferred was in some accumulating counter.
Point 3 - what a strange question. Probably your problem has nothing to do with the device you have, just the U department and their policies?
Welcome screen: maybe in the Display Settings. Choose Text, use empty string.

  • CS4 doesn't work after LION installation

After the Lion installation i had several problems.
One of these is that the cs4 doesn't work.
i open illustrator or photoshop and they crash every time. "photoshop not responding" "illustrator not responding" and so on..
I had to reinstall all the suite that now works.
    The question is... why??
I thought is is better to format the mac... should i do ?
    thanks

    Another problem is:
When I start the Dropbox Application, it uses nearly 90% of the CPU as well, so the mac heats up, in a way that it is not possible to use the dropbox application...
(The Icon of the VLC Media Player  only jumps up and down in the dock, and nothing else happens)

  • Mail missing after Rebuild

    Hi All,
    Having problem with the Mail.app
All my mails were missing after I ran the rebuild function.
I think the old mails were somehow hidden from the inbox as i noticed the the size of inbox.mbox is 1.22GB, whereas the latest INBOX is only 240mb.
How do I bring back all my old mails?
    Mail.app v 1.3.11
    OS 10.3.9
    Many thanks.
    Cheers

    Hi mercuryfin.
I'm sorry you've been left out in the cold. For some reason your post has gone by unnoticed, maybe because there are many threads discussing problems similar to the one you're having. Read the following article (and the articles it links to) to better understand the problem and how to fix it:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=121837
Unfortunately, one of the side effects of trying to fix your problem as suggested in the article is that a lot of previously "deleted" messages may reappear and you'll have to delete them again. If you wish, we can try a slight variation of the procedure described there to see whether that side effect could be avoided -- I haven't tried it before, but it won't cause any data loss, at worst it'll just not work and we'll have to do what the article suggests.
Let me know if you need any clarifications or want to try the alternative approach I'm suggesting. If the latter, start by quitting Mail and, in the Finder, go to HOME/Library/Mail/. Locate the folder of the account that contains the largest Inbox -- its name starts with the account type (POP, IMAP, Mac), followed by the account username and the incoming mail server. Open the account folder, locate the file INBOX.mbox, right-click or ctrl-click on it and choose Show Package Contents. Now, choose Edit > Select All (⌘A), then Edit > Copy (⌘C) and paste it in your reply to this post so that I can see which items are within that mailbox. Tell me also the size of the mbox file that appears there.

The first panic occured in about 10 hours after the Lion installation, and the second occured just now. I have the report here. Can anyone explain why it happened and give me some solutions?

  • Itunes won't start after lion installation

just installed Lion on my mid 2007 Imac and now can't get Itunes 10.6 to launch successfully, after repeated restarts.  I did a software update after Lion install and there was some Itunes data among other things.  Any ideas on remedying this? Thanks.
    Mike

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
    Step 1
Enter the name of the crashed process in the Filter text field. Post the messages from the time of the last crash, if any – the text, please, not a screenshot.
    Step 2
Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent one and post the contents – again, not a screenshot. For privacy’s sake, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)

  • One calendar missing after Lion update

I upgrated to Lion recently. Did not have an active Mobile Me account, though I did a trial of it a few years ago. I did go ahead and set up an iCloud account for iCal, Addresses, etc, but quickly got upset and confused when there was double everything and I don't have other devices to sync it to anyway. (Have one iPod Touch and hope to get an iPad someday).
So I undid iCloud on the Address Book and Calendars. I first saved an archive of each as I could tell that iCloud was going to wipe out my info. Then when I turned it all off, I restored my stuff from the archive. It was then that I noticed that one specific calendar was missing from my Calendar collection.
I have a cloned backup system using Carbon Copy Cloner on an external drive, but imagine my calendar there is already conformed to the current one. So I am thinking the only way I can retrieve that one calendar -- which was probably missing before I "undid iCloud" and I was just too busy to notice -- is to drill down into another archived version I did before upgrading to Lion. Trouble is, I cannot tell how to retrieve that one calendar.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Tonia

    Greetings Tonia,
If you have an iCal Archive which contains the calendar you want you can access it and add it to your existing calendar by doing the following:
    1. Put the iCal Archive in Macintosh HD > Users > Shared
    2. Create a new user account on your computer: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.7/en/mtusr001.html
    3. Go to Apple > Log Out
    4. Login to the new account you created
    5. Go to Macintosh HD > Users > Shared and drag the iCal Archive to the desktop
    6. Double-click the archive to restore it's contents to iCal in this new user
    7. Highlight the name of the calendar in iCal which you want to bring back to your main account and go to File > Export > Export and save the file to the desktop.
    8. Move this file (which is the calendar you wanted) to Macintosh HD > Users > Shared
    9. Go to Apple > Log Out
    10. Login as your normal account and go to Macintosh HD > Users > Shared
    11. Move the ics file here to the desktop and then double-click it to add to iCal -- choose "New Calendar" from the pop-up menu to create a new calendar with the information.
    Hope that helps.

  • ATV1 iTunes trouble after Lion installation

I recently installed a new hard drive in my MacPro tower. Immediately after installing OS X I upgraded to Lion. Everything works fine except iTunes and ATV1.
The ATV was rebooted. I entered the multi-digit code in iTunes and pairing was established with iTunes and its library.
Now when I click on Devices/Apple TV in iTunes there are only two category choices, "Settings" (which shows items such as hd capacity and serial number of the ATV) and "Photos". The other usual categories -- Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, etc. are missing in iTunes.
What happened to the other category choices? How do I restore them?
The ATV retained the last files that were sent to it. But there is no way to remove that content or have new content sent to it due to the iTunes issue.

It's extremely unlikely this has anything to do with your Lion install.
Nothing was paired after the new installation on a new hard drive. ATV wasn't even present in iTunes until it was paired.
That doesn't make any sense. Clearly your library is paired with the Apple TV or otherwise you wouldn't have the Apple TV in the iTunes devices list.
After changing your hard drive you have paired your iTunes library as a streaming (secondary) library instead of a syncing primary library, this is apparent by your description of the available tabs when you select your Apple TV from the device list in iTunes.
You now need to remove the pairing you made, you do this from the Apple TV by choosing computers from the settings menu and selecting your library. Once you have done this you can then pair your library properly by selecting computers from the settings menu and choosing the option to connect to iTunes, enter the passcode you are given in iTunes etc etc.

  • ICal birthday calendar from Tiger missing after upgrade

    Hi,
I recently upgraded from Tiger to 10.6.7 Leopard.  I noticed that iCal did not import my Birthday's calendar that I had manually created in Tiger.  None of my birthdays show up except for one when I select "show birthday calendar" in iCal preferences.  I have done the following:
Removed from Leopard and replaced with my Tiger data the following:
    com.apple.iCal.AlarmScheduler.plist
    com.apple.iCal.helper.plist
    com.apple.iCal.plist
I have also removed the iCal folder in the Application Support folder in my Library.  After I did this I reopened iCal.
That didn't work so I tried removing the Calendars folder from my Library and reopened iCal to no avail.
I also rebooted into Tiger on my external to verify that the missing "birthday' calendar is still there, and it is.
I tried backing it up when I was in Tiger, than rebooting in Leopard and tried importing the backup to no avail also.
    Any other suggestions?
Edit:  The calendar that I had created "Birthdays" does show up under "On my Mac", but the actual birthdays are nowhere to be found.

The birthdays for the iCal birthday calendar are taken from your address book
You will need to have one contact page and one birthday in your address book for each person.
Otherwise enter the names onto the correct dates in iCal and set them to repeat each year which is what I have done. I run couples and families in my address book.. Most of the Grandkids don't have their own pages

  • What is on my Mac Book's HD after Lion Installation

    Hi, all,
a retrospective newbie query, after an apparently successful Lion 10.7 installation.
On snooping around my Mac Book's HD, I found -
    Applications
    Install.341HIM0FB (opens up  > private > tmp)
    Install.342xzxGUj   (opens up > ditto)
    Library
    System
    Users
Re. folders 341 and 342 - are these part of the installation or installation leftovers? Do they serve any purpose? Opened up, little information is within. 2KB.
    Can/should they be deleted?
    Any helpful comments appreciated. Tks
    Ken

Ha  ha, I misread that as "My wife is very slow after installing mountain lion on my Mac book pro"
BTW on my MBPro (late 2009 with max RAM) Mountain Lion runs very well with no slowing down.

  • IPhoto Faces Missing After Lion 10.7.4 Update

I got a system update on my iMac Mid-2011 21.5" computer last night - it was for OS X Lion 10.7.4.  However, after completing the update successfully, iPhoto has lost all of my face tags.  All of my photos are still present in iPhoto (in events and photos), but the face tags are missing.
Is there any way to recover the face tags?  I've tried using Time Machine to restore my iPhoto Library, but that didnt seem to work.
    Thanks!

Thanks so much for trying to help!  Unfortunately, I've tried that - I do have backups in Time Machine, but overwriting doesnt seem to fix the problem.  Also, my iPhoto Library file doesnt even have a file named face_blob.db .
Actually, what I found worked was to move the iPhoto library to the desktop, move the Cache folder in Library to the desktop as well as the iPhoto preferences file (com.apple.iphoto.pref) in the Preferences folder.  Then, restart the computer into recovery mode and repair the Macintosh HD hard drive.  Once the computer starts up again, restore the iPhoto library from a backup date before the problem occurred.  Fixed it for me!  But I feel like its a temporary fix... we'll have to wait and see I guess
