Mini connects then disconnects from Windows Vista

I recently upgraded to Windows Vista Premium, and my 80gig iPod connects and syncs no problem to iTunes 7. I also have a 4gig mini that when I plug in the USB cable, Vista configures successfully and I can see the iPod as a drive and in device manager, and all is well until I open iTunes. As soon as I open iTunes, the mini shows up, but then Vista says it disconnects, then it reconnects, then disconnects, over and over. Has anyone else had this problem with Vista and their Mini??? Anything I should try??
4GB Mini   Other OS

I left it plugged in over night and there is no change... I actually have 2 Mini's and the problem occurs with both, but not with the new 80GB iPod.

  • Connect to Mac from Windows Vista issue

Hi I want to view some files that are on my Mac from my PC (Windows Vista). Here's what I did so far: On my Mac I enabled file sharing, I selected the folders that I want to share.
Now here's the part that confuses me, it asks me to add the users to share the folder with. but do I enter the username and password for my mac or is it the username and password for my PC? What I did was add all the accounts that are on my mac.
I then went on my PC, clicked on network, I can see the mac computer, I can also see my username and folder, I click on it, I then see the drop box but when I click on it I get a network error message that says "Windows cannot access Users public folder drop box".
I don't know what setting I need to enable since I'm very new to this. I can access the files that are on my PC from my Mac just fine. but I can't access the files that are on my Mac from my PC. Do I need to create a new mac account?
I also noticed that when I click on the mac computer from my PC in Network, it doesn't ask me to enter a username and password, could that be the reason I can't connect? Please help.

The user names and passwords are the same on both systems. That is not the issue.
The issue is that each user can only connect to the mac from their windows system when they physically log on as user at the mac.
Otherwise it will not even show up in their network neighborhood.
If I boot up the mac and log in as the user, I can connect to the mac from my windows system but the other two users can't.
Likewise if one of them logs in as the user on the mac, I cannot connect to it from my windows system.

  • IMac 24" cant connect in WiFi from Windows Vista

    Hi;
First I apologize for my bad english.
    Now, here is my problem.
My iMac 24" running under OS X 5.6 connects itself perfectly in WiFi to my CometLabs WRM42 ADSL router in Mac mode. But i'm not able to establish the same connexion in Windows Vista mode.
According to Windows troobleshooting, linking router and Mac with a cable permits the connexion to work and continue to work after pulling out the cable. But the connexion is not again possible without cable after a restart of the computer.
Many thanks to whom will give me the solution.

well, to be honest...networking in x ***** these days - but not as much as windows does I miss os9...
Anyway, I have a great deal of experience with it and windows, so chances are i've ran into this problem before... so here it goes -
question one - in your "directory access"(in utilities) what workgroup do you have (it has to be IDENTICAL as the one on the windows machine) otherwise windows wont play nice.
Question two- whats the hardware setup like? Is this directly through a crossover cable? Are you connected through a switch? It sounds like its able to connect, so it must be correctly wired, but. There have been instances (here anyway) where the plug on the wire either wasnt firmly seated, giving intermittant access, or it was simply put together badly. Not that this is the case here, but i would try to eliminate that possibility by going directly between computers with a cross over cable (a good one..heh) just to be certain.
id ask the ip# question, but you gave that in your ping report. The numbers appear to be right, the only thing here i could think of is if A) you have differing subnets, or you have different dns numbers. I highly doubt thats the problem though. Now depending on your version of x, i seem to recall there being the need to set a user to be able to share to windows. In the older days i believe that box was in the accounts control panel. Now its a "accounts" button in the sharing control panel. Be sure to give it the name and pass of the account you've turned on.
the other question that might pertain is, what version of windows is this? Strangely enough i seem to have better success with win98 than with xp. But it would be interesting to find out...
anyhoo, good luck with the voodoo

  • IPhone 4s connects and disconnects from Windows 8

Apologies if this has been asked before as i'm sure it has but I can't find a solution.
I have a new HP Compaq laptop using USB 3.0, when I connect my IPhone 4s to my laptop it connects and disconnects every seconds, I've looked in the device manager and can't find anything to do with Apple in there.
Has anyone found a solution to this?

  • Connect from windows vista ultimate to oracle 8i

    Hello,
I need connect oracle 8i from windows vista ultimate, how to make this
    thanks for all
i am spanish, sorry for my expresion

I too have a problem with Oracle 8 and Vista (Business). We have many different Oracle platforms administered by many different agencies. One platform is 10g insisting encrypted ODBC connection and the other is 8.x that cannot handle encrypted requests. In the past we just ran 2 or more versions of Oracle client and associated the version's ODBC to the Oracle platform's version. But with Vista there are no 8.x or 9.x Vista compatible clients thus I can only have the Vista machine to connect to one and not the other. There are problems when trying to use a Windows 2000 or XP client versions in Vista.
Anyone have a work around? When I try to change the SQL.ORA on a Vista 10g client to a 8.x db to use "REQUESTED" instead of "REQUIRED" encryption call I get the [Oracle][ODBC] Ora-03134: Connection to this server version no longer support.

  • Hi, my Ipod Schuffle (4 gen) dissapears from windows vista right after I execute Itunes, I've change the drive letter, erase temps in App data file, verified USB drivers, etc... Can someone guide on how to solve this?

Hi, my Ipod Schuffle (4 gen) dissapears from windows vista right after I execute Itunes, I've change the drive letter, erase temps in App data file, verified USB drivers, etc... Can someone guide on how to solve this?

If you want the shuffle to be always visible in Windows (outside of iTunes), you need to Enable disk use.
Select the shuffle in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right, select the Summary tab.  You should see a checkbox that says Enable disk use.  Check it and click Apply.
NOTE:  If disk use is enabled, you have to Eject the shuffle in iTunes, BEFORE you physically disconnect it.  If disk use is NOT enabled, you can disconnect the shuffle at any time, as long as iTunes is not doing something with it at that moment (such as syncing); the shuffle's light will then be blinking (to indicate DO NOT DISCONNECT).
So, unless you want to use the shuffle like a USB flash drive (carry random files on it), you may want to NOT Enable disk use.

  • Error -  Printing from Windows Vista to OS 10.5.3

I have an HP Photosmart C3100 printer connected to my iMac by USB, and shared over a wireless network. I have no problems printing from my MacBook to this printer, but when I try to print from a Dell XPS with Windows Vista installed, I receive an error that it was unable to connect to the printer because access was denied.
When I first set up this shared printer on the XPS, I printed a page off the internet to test and it printed fine. Then I restarted the XPS and I can no longer print.

My printer is connected to my Desktop(Windows Vista) via USB and I want to share it to My Macbook(Mac OSX Lion) so that I can print documents wirelessly through my Macbook.

  • Windows Easy Transfer can't transfer files from Windows Vista or Windows XP

I'm running a English Windows Vista Ultimate and just bought a
ENGLISH Windows 8.1. I've downloaded the WET for Windows vista and tried to complete the second portion of the transfer by specifying the saved .MIG file WET created. Then I got the error message: "Windows Easy Transfer can't transfer
files from Windows Vista or Windows XP".
The truth is, Microsoft was too busy integrating special effects to it's operating system and claimed it as fully polished instead of making sure built-in tools were worth using.
Another harsh reality is that THERE IS NO WAY TO TRANSFER a file from Windows Vista to Windows 8. That's because engineers didn't even bother to make that possibility happen. Just Google: "Transfer from windows vista to windows 8" and you'll see
there are no relevant Microsoft web page about this.
Worse, Microsoft is giving excuses. To solve this issues, they came with a toolbox of fake scenarios in order to confuse clients even further, while they know damn well the Windows Easy Transfer is NOT EASY and certainly in multiple cases
DOES NOT TRANSFER jack to begin with.

    I somewhat agree with you.
Trying to transfer from 7 to 8.1 and although it looks like the "7" side of the equation is working, the "8" side isn't.
"7" is trying to connect to "8" but "8.1" is being just plain stupid.
Not even sure why the MIG file step is even necessary if all I want to do is transfer one file between two machines.  Said file is really BIG, or i'd just use my network, and the "8.1" rig doesn't have a dvd reader...
Per the MIG step... my file again, is big... I'd need to "mig" this file just to send it? Can't even get to the step where I'd mig-it and if i did, how long would that take?
So this is what progress is all about... geez... gimmie a NULL MODEM CABLE !!!

  • WSUS hangs on Cleanup wizard for Unused Updates, then disconnects from console.

I am running WSUS 3.0 SP1 on Windows 2003 and recently have found that running the Cleanup Wizard works with all of the selectable options except the "Unused Updates" option. It hangs about 1\2 way through and then disconnects from the console. Up until now it has worked.
I am using the Windows Internal Database and the size of the MDF is 3193024kb.
Everything other than this wizard is working fine. Please help.

It does not run much better when written without a CURSOR. I modified it to use a WHILE loop and it deletes about 1 per minute here which is the same as the old code with a CURSOR.
Not surprised. To be frank, using a WHILE LOOP just turns it into a manual CURSOR, making it no better off than using the CURSOR construct in T-SQL. The correct approach here is to write the code with a SET-BASED approach. Unfortunately, as you're about
to see.. sometimes there are scenarios just too complex to do with a set-based approach.
In order to use the set-based approach, you'll need to take the code from spDeleteUpdate and modify it to join directly to the table of GUIDs to delete. Execute the whole thing in *one* DELETE statement.
Of course, part of the other problem that contributes to the performance issues is that spDeleteUpdate *ALSO* uses CURSORs.... <sigh>, and a subprocedure. spDeleteUpdate retrieves a list of RevisionIDs, and then calls spDeleteRevision for each of those
RevisionIDs. (And as we've already seen, some updates may have a large number of RevisionIDs.) spDeleteRevision is where the real work is done.
At the crux of that proc, are deletes from these tables:
dbo.tbEventInstance (this will be a time killer as well, depending on how many clients affected a given update, and how much activity surrounded that update)
    dbo.tbDeployment
    dbo.tbUpdateStatusPerComputer
    dbo.tbProperty
    dbo.tbFlattendedRevisionInCategory
    dbo.tbRevisionInCategory
    dbo.tbRevisionLanguage
    dbo.tbMoreInfoURLForRevision
    dbo.tbSecurityBulletinForRevision
    dbo.tbKBArticleForRevision
    dbo.tbBundleDependency
    dbo.tbBundleAtLeastOne
    dbo.tbBundleAll
    dbo.tbPrerequisiteDependency
    dbo.tbInstalledUpdateSufficientForPrerequisite
    dbo.tbPrerequisite
And all of the associated transaction wrappers and error checking for each and every deleted row from each of those tables to ensure continued data integrity in the database.
So while the code above making a simple call to spDeleteUpdate looks quite simple on the surface... underneath the covers there's a LOT of activity going on to make that one update get deleted.
If you wanted to speed it up... you'd need to use spGetObsoleteUpdatestoCleanup to get a list of UpdateIDs, then build a list of RevisionIDs from that, and then join that temp table of RevisionIDs to each of the -15- tables above, and delete from all -15-
tables simultaneously. Which would force all of those deleted records into a SINGLE transaction, and probably whatever gains you got from switching from procedural logic to set-based logic would be lost in the massive overhead of managing a transaction of
    that size.
A possible compromise would be to execute a set-based DELETE by UpdateID, so you'd capture the RevisionIDs for a given UpdateID, and then delete across all -15- tables for that short list of RevisionIDs (except where that list ain't so short). But still,
this compromise might well speed things up, as the loop for UpdateIDs is likely only measured in the hundreds, where as the loop through all RevisionIDs is sometimes measured in the thousands or tens of thousands (depending on if/when the server was last purged).

  • How do I share files from Windows Vista to a Mac with Lion OSX?

How do I share files from Windows Vista to a Mac with Lion OSX?  I'm having SO much trouble with this!  Any help would be appreciated!!!

In a finder window, under 'shared' you should be able to see the windows computer name, click on it and connect to it. I am assuming here you have sharing turned on and permissions granted on the windows computer.
Will add a note though, I have frequently accessed files from a PC on the LAN using XP, not vista.

  • Unistalling labview 7.0 and 8.0 from windows vista

how do i uninstall both labview 7.0 and 8.0 from windows vista? i run through conflicts of labview with other programs so i want to remove them. there were errors encountered when i tried to uninstall them from the control panel such as this:
    Attachments:
    uninstall error.doc ‏210 KB

Can you stop the service manually? I would suggest stopping the service, setting it Manual or Disabled, rebooting, and then run the uninstaller again. Hopefully you won't have to resort to uninstalling the service manually.

  • Tx2120us, upgrade from Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

I wonder if there's anyone out there who has managed to sucessfully upgrade his/her HP tx2120us tablet PC from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Ultimate or to do a fresh Windows 7 ultimate install on a HP tx2120us tablet PC.
I purchased a Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit edition AND a 320GB 7200rpm hard drive and started a fresh Windows 7 installation. After the installation was done, the network adapters fixed and wireless were working. I also managed to install the Audio drivers for the built in realtek audio adapter. Even the touchpad, touchscreen and pen seem to work but then I stopped after several attempts to install a suitable display driver for the NVIDIA G-Force video adapter. The resolution with my Vista OS is 1280 x 800 but the default Windows 7 OS only provides a generic 1064 x 768 resolution and not any download from HP could install a suitable NVIDIA driver for Windows 7.
As I stopped there I don't even know if there is a driver for the card reader or the Light Scribe DVD burner and whatever is buit in into this tx2120us.
I'd really very much appreciate if someone who had succeeded with the installation of Win 7 Ultimate 64bit on the tx2120us could provide me with working drivers or the links to them.
    thanks
