Mini Display to Display Port Problem

Ok so I have the mini display output in my MacBook pro and currently I just use a VGA adaptor but I presume this won't yield best results. So since my HP HD monitor has a Display Port I thought the best idea was to get a mini display to display port cable.
However when I plus it in it all goes a bit weird. The screen on the MacBook flicksmonnand off and no signal goesntonthe monitor. Occasionally it does get a signal and switches on from standby but nothing actually shows up.
Any ideas or will I have to resort to a mini display to dvi lead instead?

Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there, some things will change it for their own use, then not set it back.

Hi,
I have a X220 Tablet with a HP L2045w Monitor connected (Win 7/64).
Usually I connected the Monitor via Display port (with a Display port to Single DVI Adapter) which worked properly.
For a short while I needed the Display Port Adapter on aanother PC. So I switched the connection to VGA.
Now I got the Display Port adapter back and connected the Monitor again with the DVI, but the Monitor kept blank no matter what I tried. Checked Monitor settings and BIOS settings.
So I downloaded the newest video driver for my notebook and installed it. During installation the monitor suddenly startet to work. FN + F7 worked properly. After installation I was asked to restart the computer. After restart same problem again. Display stayed dark.
I can reaproduce this. Installing the display driver resolves the problem untill the next restart.
After the driver installation the HP L2045w is recognized in the resolution settings. After the restart I only see a VGA monitor as a choice.
If I connect a HP L1925 monitor to the Display port it works properly.
Any ideas?

Hi there MSPoettl,
I updated to the new firmware for the 24' when it was released. This largely fixed the problem, although the Lacie's fan makes a very airy noise as it blows. The image on the 24' led apple careen is stable, so good news there. However when plugging the MBair into the Lacie and then into a 27' iMac I still get occasional distortion.

I just recently picked up a 32 gig iPad mini with Retina Display, and everything about it is great except for the fact that the speakers don't have very good volume, they can be all the way up and still aren't as loud as my iPad 2 or my iPhone 5, is this normal?

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

Mac Mini does not display HDMI 1080i in full screen on TVs

I have a 1.66 GHz Intel Core Duo Mac Mini that I am having problems getting video to display 1920 x 1080 @60hz in full screen on my Sony XBR 1080p HDTV. The Mac is connected to the TV via a DVI to HDMI cable. The Mac recognizes the display as a "Sony TV"
When the Mac first starts up the entire TV screen is filled with the grey Apple startup screen, but when the Mac fully boots and gets to the desktop, the screen has shrunk so that it is slightly off the screen on the left, and has about 80% of the screen filled horizontally and about 90% vertically. I have tried all combinations of the overscan selection on the Mac and on the TV, but they make the image about 120% of the size of the screen so the top, bottom and sides are cut off.
I have tried 2 different 1080p HDTVs with the Mac Mini and get the same results for both TVs.
Now here is the thing that makes me believe that there is something funky with the Mac Mini. If I take my 2.16 GHz Macbook Pro 15" Intel Core 2 Duo and plug its DVI display port into the Same DVI to HDMI cable that is connected to the same Sony TV, it displays full screen with no problems.
What can I do to make my Mac Mini display properly?

I did as you suggested, but the only 1920x1080 selection shown was one for "NTSC" which I would think is interlaced. This was after a reboot. All of available resolutions are labeled with "NTSC". When I look at the screen resolutions on my MacBook Pro when it is connected to the TV, they are labeled as "Interlaced". On both computers there are no progressive scan selections.
As an interesting note, regardless of what display resolution I select, the display area on the TV screen remains the same which is about 80% of the screen offset to the left. When "overscan" is selected, this mode enlarges to image to about 120% of the screen and cuts off the menu bar etc. However the MacBook fills about 98% of the screen in "normal" mode.
If there was a less aggressive Overscan mode or more aggressive normal mode, that would fix the issue.
Any other ideas on how to adjust this?

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...

1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.

I have tried resetting it, ive restarted my browser etc. I tried to erase all data from my Ipad but I can't do that because it needs to sign into my Apple ID and use the Internet!

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)

    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. Wifi does not work correctly on iPad Mini w/ Retina display

I've found that Wifi does not work properly on the iPad mini w/ Retina display.
Some background: I own three iPads (iPad mini w/ retina display, iPad mini, and iPad 3rd gen), an iPod touch 5th gen, and a Macbook Air, and use them all frequently with my pocket Wifi router.
None of them exhibit any Wifi problems whatsoever except for my iPad mini w/ retina display.
Here are the details:
In the middle of using Wifi with my pocket Wifi router, the Wifi connection will abrubptly drop, then reconnect. After the Wifi reconnects, it is no longer able to connect to the internet (even though Wifi itself is connected).
Once the iPad mini w/ retina display's Wifi gets into this state, the following may or may not restore WiFi temporarily:
Restart the device
Reset network settings
Yet, even if connectevitiy is restored, the problem will happen again within minutes.
When the iPad mini w/ retina display gets into this state, the Wifi on my iPod touch, other iPads, and on my Macbook Air work perfectly fine, so I know the problem is not with my Wifi device or it's connection, but specifically with the iPad mini w/ retina display
Note:
The iPad mini w/ retina display never has any issues with my home or work Wifi networks. The problem only happens when connected to my pocket Wifi device. Yet, all of my other iOS devices and my MacBook Air work perfectly with my pocket Wifi device, therefore I know the problem is not with the pocket Wifi device, but with the iPad mini with retina display.
Solutions:
Resetting the iPad mini w/ retina display to factory settings does not solve the problem
Resetting network settings on the iPad mini w/ retina display does not solve the problem
I have even replaced my original iPad mini w/ retina and got a new one. Yet, the new device exhibits the exact same behavior as the original device.
Conclusion:
I know this is not a hardware problem (since it happened with both my original as well as replacement device).
I know this is not a problem with my pocket WiFi router, since it works perfectly with all of my other iOS devices and MacBook Air.
Therefore, this must be a software / firmware bug with the iPad mini w/ retina display. Apple will need to fix this in a future software update.
Has anyone else seen this problem?

I too have experienced this issue over the past two days... I have a 16gb ipad mini retina, for reference. I bought the device one week ago, and had not experience any issues at all until bringing my device to work. I logged into my work's enterprise level wireless network both yesterday and today, maintained normal wifi capabilities for 2-4 hours each day, and was then randomly dropped, both days. I tried hard resets, resetting my network settings, airplane mode, etc. Nothing has worked. I am still offline on my ipad mini retina.
My iPhone 5 is sitting right next to my iPad mini retina. The iPhone is currently connected to the same very network, and has been for the past two years. I have never lost connection on my iPhone's wifi, just my iPad mini retina.
This must be some kind of bug, as it does not sound like a hardware nor network issue.
Hopefully they fix this in 7.1.

1.Double-click the Home button.

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
Also make sure your iPad has plenty of free space for the iOS to run efficiently. With iOS 7 it is recommended that you have 15-20% of the storage space on the device free. For a 16 GB device that is 2.4-3.2 GB free. For a 32 GB device that is 4.8-6.4 GB free. For a 64 GB device that is 9.6-12.8 GB free.

You're not talking to Apple by posting here.
WhatsApp is only available for iPhone. It is not up to Apple to change that, it is up to the developer of the app.

MAX and VISA displays extra COM port

From the Windows 2000 -> Control Panel -> System, it displayed that there are the following ports:
COM1 - Serial port
LPT1 - Parallel port
COM2 - USB-to-serial port
However, when checked with MAX & VISA, it displays an extra port:
ASRL1:INSTR (COM1)
ASRL2:INSTR (COM2)
ASRL3:INSTR (COM3)
ASRL10:INSTR (LPT1)
I don't know where does the COM3 comes from, or how to eliminate it. I have tried to take out the reference to COM3 on the visaconf.ini , but it reappears.
At the same time, I am having Labview crashes problem (access violation) after I communicate with the instrument connected via COM2 (Labview.exe crashes on a 2nd run of the same script, which needs restarting of computer before it will work again, for one r
un and crash again on the 2nd run). Does this problem has anything to do with the appearance of COM3?

I believe COM3 is still in your registry under HKLM\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\SERIALCOMM. It is possible that it existed at one time previously and the system never deleted it (although this seems odd to me). You should be able to run regedit, find this key, and delete the COM3 string item in the right hand view.
Even though viFindRsrc is returning COM3, I do not believe that viOpen will succeed - it should return an error for that port since you say it does not really exist. In fact, MAX should show some kind of exclamation point or X through the icon. Does it do this?
Regardless of the MAX behavior, this should not affect your LabVIEW program in any way. I have no idea what is causing your crash but it is probably not related to this phanto
m COM3. If you think the crash is in VISA, I suggest you use NI Spy and enable Log to File with Fail Safe Logging selected. Then after the crash you can load the .spy file and see if any VISA call did not return.

My Ipad Mini with retina display has crashed and will not restart.Only the white screen with the apple logo will appear. This comes and goes randomly. I've tried resetting by holding the front and top buttons. I've also tried resetting using itunes. Neither had any effect, The Ipad was a christmas present and only worked for several hours, the apple store can not look at it for another week. Is this a common occurance? I thought apple products were expensive because they never had problems.

Call Apple and explain as it is new. They will go over things to try and fix over the iPad over the phone. If they need to fix it they should send you a new one and you put the old one in thePrepaid return box they send you and send back the defective iPad for no cost. This is what they did with my first iPad 1st gen. I had. Unless they changed their policy you will get the box within a day or two and have your replacement for it the same day.

i just bought my new ipad mini with retina display 128gb, but i after i tried to run in for some apps, i found out the performance is very poor, and i just wondering izzit im the only one who had this problem which i get the lousy ipad mini or every one else who bought the ipad mini 2 got this problem?? My game apps list like below. the game will lag 1 second sometimes: anomaly 1, anomaly korea, minigore 2. Well I don't think is the app problem, since yesterday I already called my country apple customer centre, they told me to reset all setting for my device, the problem is then solve, my anomaly 2 not even lag anymore, and they call me observe 24 hours see how the device work. At first the device work well and no lag anymore for my other game and anomaly 2 too, but after a night, this morning when I wake up, the problem is occurring again, my anomaly 2 is lag as before >_< so I make a call and they call me to restore factory setting, then after restore, the problem solve again , but still I had to observe few more days, if same thing happen again, then they will call me send back my ipad to give them double check and if the device got problem , they promised me will exchange the new one for me ~ will keep update see how after a few day~

Can I use the same adapter for my ipad mini w/ retina display as I use for my iphone 4S?

I have an iPad mini with retina display and an iPhone 4S. Have both the small and large adapters (5W and 12W I believe) that came with the two products. I am traveling abroad and want to know if I can just use the smaller adapter (little cube-shaped one, 5W) for both the ipad and the iphone. OR, can I forgo taking the Apple adapters that were supplied, and instead use one of the travel adapters that has two 2.1-Amp USB ports?

You can use the 5W to charge the iPhone, but if it charges the iPad Mini Retina, it will be slow, so you would have to turn it off and let it sit forever to get charged. If you were going to take just one, take the 12 W on as you can use it to charge both devices without issue.
