BURNED DVD PLAYS WITH SOUND ON PC BUT NO SOUND WHEN PLAYING ON TV - VIA VIDEO PLAYER ??

    Hi,
It may be worth trying another burning application to see if this helps the issue.
Download and install the free utility, ImgBurn and use this to create the DVD.  Guides on using this to burn to single layer and dual layer discs are below.

  • Can anyone print photos from dvd created with imac?

    hi,
If I burn 400 JPEG photos in a dvd using iMac, can any one be able to print those JPEG's?
I am going to photograph a wedding and it is essential that the JPEG show impeccable... how should I proceed?
    thanks for your answer.

If you create slideshows of the photos in iDVD via the "+" button:
and burn a video DVD disc the only possible copy anyone could get would be a screen shot of the DVD playing on a computer and that would be a small, low resolution (~72 dpi) image that would not be much good for printing anything other and a very small copy.
Create slideshows of 95 slides or less by importing the photos into an iDVD slideshow.  Before importing crop the photos to the 4:3 size ratio that iDVD uses.  You can create multiple slideshows in one iDVD project:
If you create slideshows in iDVD from still photos the viewer will be able to advance forward and backward one slide at a time with the Forward and Back buttons on the DVD player's remote tool.
If you create a movie of the photos and add that the only option is to fast forward or fast backward in the resulting movie.
In addition, follow the workflow below to help assure the best qualtiy product:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • Sony Mini-DVD's with Final Cut Pro

I am wondering if it is possible to convert mini-DVD's such as those from sony camcorders to the Final Cut Pro editing program? I have been able to do this on my PC but is difficult, long and complicated. I have read other posts my my question isn't completly answered. My camcorder does not have a USB or Firewire port on it but I already own an exterior disk burning drive that accepts mini-DVD's. I am considering switching to a MAC from PC and Final Cut Pro is one of the main reasons why.
    Thanks in Advance!

    Welcome to the forum!
To convert ANY non-copyrighted, non-encrypted DVD video footage to an editable format that FCP can work with, you have two basic options; hardware or software.
The hardware method is connecting a DVD player's outputs to a qualified DV device, which is connected to your Mac via Firewire. In FCP, set device control to "Non-Controllable Device" and use capture now - or dub the footage to DV/DVCam/DVCPro for logging and batch capturing.
The software method involves using a program such as DVDxDV, Cinematize or MPEG Streamclip to demux and convert the DVD-Video's VOB files into an editable format for later importing into FCP.

  • DVD Studio Pro Authored DVD plays on iMac, but not PC or DVD Player

Have put several film up on web using FCP. Trying to make DVD of movies using DVD Studio Pro. The DVD plays on my iMac, but not my PC or my DVD player. Any suggestions?

Pop your disc into your Mac. On the disc there should be two folders, VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS. If the VIDEO_TS folder is not there, replaced by something else, then you have indeed created a HD DVD. You need to completely start over.

  • Mini DVD's with the Mac Mini

I have a mini DVD that I would like to use within iDVD, but I want to make sure the mini DVD's will work with the SuperDrive in my Mac Mini. I really don't want to put it in the drive if it won't come back out! Thought it better to ask first! Thanks!

No, DON'T put the mini dvd in your Mac's slot-loading drive. It won't work and it won't come out.
The mini dvds were intended for tray-loading drives.

  • Mini-DvDs+20 inch iMac=???

    Hey,
I'm attempting to transfer video files off of mini memorex dvd-rs, convert the files into .avis and then burn them back onto a DVD. It is proving incredibly frustrating to do on windows. I was wondering whether there was any way to do this on my iMac, considering it has superior video editing possibilities.

If you have an external tray loading DVD drive (firewire) they typically can accommodate mini-DVDs. Also, if you or someone you know has a DV camera that uses Mini DVDs you could hook it directly to the mac as well (firewire again...I do not know what models do and don't have firewire) and iMovie will import the data no problem. I know some DVD cameras only support USB, which iMovie will not recognize.

  • Burned dvd plays with line at top saying "MARKER 1"

    hi
i exported a final cut express hd project as a fce quicktime movie, with the selction of "all markers" to be exported as well (i assumed this would add the little chapter markers i put in fcehd). however, when i used dvd studio pro 2, the program didn't detect the markers, so i created them myself in dvd studio pro 2. then, when i burned the dvd and played it back on my computer, a white line at the top of the screen says "marker _" for each chapter. how can i get rid of these? are the from final cut's exported movie because i chose to add all markers, or are they from dvd studio pro when i added chapter markers? thanks in advance.

A simple work-around (your version of DVD-SP does not understand markers which were generated by a later version of FCE) is as follows:-
Open the Quicktime file of your playout in Quicktime. Turn off the "text track" and re-save (or save a new reference version). Use the new file to generate your .mpeg2. Replace the video track in DVD SP2 with this 'clean' one. Do put your chapter makers in by hand (or keep the ones you've already set).
Hope this makes sense. The important part is to turn off the "text-track" in Quicktime Pro. Make sure you can't see the white header on screen before you go any further!

  • Can I use Mini DVD's with my superdrive on my Mac?

I was recently given some Mini DVD's that were used on an old Camcorder and I was wondering if I could use it with the Mac superdive

No, you can ONLY use a standard 120 MM size disk in the SuperDrive.

  • Dvd plays on iMac, but not on TV?

Made short iMovie from movie clips, then to iDvd. Disc will play back through my G5 iMac but my stand alone player will not accept it to play through my HDtv. Would like to play it thru the TV. Any suggestions?
    Jack

Thanks Shippey: Nothing unusual that I'm aware, but I don't do much with clips. These were made with a Nikon Coolpix. All my DVD' originate as still images, but these little clips are my daughters dog, and the dog is ill, so want a little record for her of the dog barking. Fortunately as I mentioned, the disc will play on my computer, but won't even load on the stand alone player for TV.
BTW, the movie has a theme and title at beginning and end but no sound except what was recorded on the clips.

  • DVD Player with imac

I have inherited an iMac from my parents and am using it for my daughter. We cannot play DVD's on it at all. I tried using an external DVD player (and it reads the disc) but it won't play. I actually think I may be missing the Apple DVD Player software as I cannot find it anywhere. I do not have the original discs (parents can't find them). I have searched the internet for a copy of the software but can only find 3.1 (which says my hardware is wrong) and 2.7 which says my OS is wrong.
Can anyone point me in the right direction ??

USB and FireWire are very different in how they operate (it's not just a matter of the connector's shape), so there is no such adapter.
There's nothing you can do with that external drive, in terms of playing DVD movies from it. If you are handy with taking things apart (and putting them back together), you can probably replace the internal drive, which sounds like it is a CD or CDRW drive (it can't read DVDs), with a DVD-capable drive.
There are take-apart guides online, such as
    http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/systems/imacg4/imacg4takeapart.html
(please read it carefully and make sure it is something you can do before trying it)
Getting to the optical drive is beyond normal user access, so it is not a simple procedure. I have not done it myself, but an optical drive like this will probably work (and it's a super drive).

Or you can get an external drive that uses FireWire

  • Mac Mini DVD issues with 3rd party player software

New to the forum. I have a Late 2012 Mac Mini with 16GB RAM and 256 SSD (Crucial) fitted and the latest version Yosemite OS. I get a slight jerkiness when playing DVDs from an external Panasonic UJ265 USB3 Blu-ray drive using either Aurora or Macgo software, however Blu-rays play fine and the jerkiness disappears with Apple's native DVD player. Any ideas what might be going on? Many thanks.

I'm having a similar issue as well with my Mac Mini (Macmini 4,1) connected to an HP LP3065 via the Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI adaptor. I also have a Dell 2407WFP connected via the the HDMI->DVI connector:
    Summary:
When the Mac Mini wakes from sleep, the display for the Dual-Link DVI connection is set to the wrong resolution and cannot be modified in System preferences.
    Details:
In my case, this manifests as a blank screen and flashing green power led on the HP, which is how the it indicates the display resolution is set to something other than 2560x1600. The Dell still wakes up, but is now in Mirroring mode. At this point, Displays system preference shows a generic "Display" with a resolution of "640x480", plus the HP2407, with no option to change the resolution for the generic Display)
The only thing that seems to fix the problem is restarting the Mac Mini.
This seems to happen about 30% of the time the Mac Mini wakes from sleep. The rest of the time, everything works fine. It's extremely annoying.

  • Ipad Mini doesnt sync with IMac

I have a 4 year old Imac running 10.5.8.  How do I go about updating the OS to mountain lion because my Imac does not recognize the ipad mini.

You need to be running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to sync with iDevices:
Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
The OS 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD is available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    and in the UK:
    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
but nobody knows for how long it will be available.
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard to bring it up to 10.6.8, or download the combo update from here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
Check via Software Update whether further updates are required.
You should now see the App Store icon in iTunes, and you now need to set up your account:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4479
To use iCloud you have to upgrade at least to Lion, but some functions are only available in Mountain Lion:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4759
You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard), or you can purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store - if you can run that:

  • DVD plays with green border

I am new to DVD studio pro. I'm trying to burn my first DVD. Whenever I burn a disc and play it on my computer there is a thin green border around the edge. I exported it from Final Cut Pro and converted it with compressor to be in the right format for DVD studio. Can anyone tell me why this happens and what I can do to get rid of it?
    Thanks!

As a follow up, I tried putting both Anti-Alias and Detail Level to 1, which reduced the border (halo) to almost acceptable levels (a bit on the left, almost unnoticeable on the bottom), but the image quality was reduced noticeably in side-by-side comparisons between it and the default settings.
I also tried turning Frame Control off which made the green go away completely and improved the image quality compared to the DVD from the default settings.
