Mini dvi to rca or coaxial

Hi,
I have a new macbook that used to have dvi plug and I could use the adapter to plug into rca or svideo. The plug is on the following website: http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9267G/A
However, the new mac only has a mini dvi adapter, and I need to go to RCA/svideo/ or even coaxial. Can anybody recommend a product that would do this? I need to broadcast through mini dvi to coaxial cable from my macbook. Lots of adapters will work with the coaxial cable, but I'm having trouble getting it to connect to my mini dvi plug on the mac.
Thanks

The new MacBook has a mini-DisplayPort connector, not a mini-DVI connector.
Verify what your connector looks like. Is it the DisplayPort connector below:
Older MacBooks have this mini DVI connector:
Some newer MacBook Pros have the former connector, while others have the connector that would allow this cable:
Which display connector does your machine have?
Also update your profile. MacBook and MacBook Pro are very different machines, and shouldn't be confused for each other.

  • Mini dvi to RCA adaptor

I am trying to run my macbook (White), I think it is from 2007, to my tv via the VCR RCA inputs. I have successfully run sound through the headphone jack, but I get no video on the TV when I have it hooked up with the Apple mini dvi to RCA adapter. I have tried troubleshooting with the display setting in the mac preferences with no success.
Is this adapter not compatible with older macbooks? Here is the link to the part I am referring to. http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9319G/A

Never heard of one failing, but that's with a small sample size. Does your screen resolution change when you plug it in? Does a 2nd monitor show up in the display preference pane?

  • ?? I thought there was a mac-mini, DVI to RCA /S-video adapter. If no, can I get 37.5mhz on display to composite video out?a composite video

?? I thought there was a mac-mini, DVI to RCA /S-video adapter. If not can display be set to 37,5 hertz then my crt can accept composite video. Thanks.

    12. Can I output via Mini DisplayPort to an RCA or S-Video connection?
No. The Mini DIsplayPort connector allows output to Mini DisplayPort, DisplayPort, VGA, DVI, and HDMI connections when using the proper cables and adapters. However, output to RCA, Component, or S-Video connections is not supported.

  • Apple Mini-DVI to RCA

Can anyone tell me which cables I need to purchase from Apple to go from the
Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter to the back of my tv (RCA tri-color connector)? After looking at most of the discussions, I typically see a generic statement saying I need the adapter and separate cables, my question is what specific cables?
    Thank you all in advance.

The adapter looks exactly like the output on your mac and then turns into the three RCA (yellow, red, white) that plug into your tv. The only thing besides the adapter you will need to purchase is a longer cord to plug in from your adapter to your tv.

  • Mini DVI to RCA?

Has anyone seen any sort of adapter for this? I need to hook up my macbook to an RCA input tv because at the moment I cannot afford a new monitor. Anything direct? Or do I need multiple cords. Links appreciated.

    The iBook G4 has a mini-VGA output not a mini-DVI output.
You can use the Apple VGA Display Adapter (M8639G/A) to get VGA output or the Apple Video Adapter (M9109G/A) to get S-Video or composite video.

  • Macbook video out problem  mini dvi port????  wierd video tranission

I have been using the Apple cable that converts the mini-dvi to rca jack for connection to external video screen for some time now. All of a sudden, i try to hook it up to the tv to watch a movie and it wont work.
Here is the funny part... it still transmits video, it will show the image of my desktop... today i switched my desktop image, and tried again to hook it up... this time it shows the OLD desktop image... no icons or anything, just the image.
Any ideas as to why its doing this? It worked well last week, no other problems, abuse etc, all of a sudden it doesnt work.
    frustrated... please help

Difficult to tell from your description, but it sounds to me like your Displays in System Preferences may be set to extended desktop mode instead of video mirroring mode.

  • Mini Displayport to RCA

    Hi everyone,
I love the mac but not too computer savvy. I am trying to figure out how I can hook the macbook to my old fashion TV (has RCA and coax ports only). So far, it looks like they haven't created the adapter necessary for this. It looks like they have one that goes to VGA and one that goes to DVI. Am I missing something?
I used to have the ibook, and had a mini-DVI to RCA http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9319G/A?fnode=MTY1NDA3Ng&mco=MjE0NTE2OQ . It worked perfectly. Now the new macbook doesn't have the same mini port for external display.
Any advice on how I can hook this bad boy to a my old TV would be very much appreciated!
    Colin

  • Mini DVI - VGA Issue

I purchased a Mini DVI-VGA adaptor from Apple over a year ago. I've used it only to connect my Macbook to a projector. Once connected, the screen will flash briefly and then the resolution will change and I will be able to switch back and forth from single screen to dual screen by clicking F7...but this was back when things were beautiful and I had no issues.
Now, my adaptor will not work...neither would another Min DVI-VGA adaptor that I tried...but yet the port will work when I connect my Mini DVI-SVideo/RCA adaptor.
Is there a setting that I may have changed? It doesn't seem to be a hardware issue because the port will work with a different type of adaptor.

Hi. I have pretty much the same problem: everything was fine until yesterday. As usual, the screen flashed briefly but then the resolution DID NOT change and the projector could not connect. After removing the adaptor, the screen flashed again but that's it but there was no difference as the resolution had not changed. To note that the adaptor is (grrrr) new (bought about a month ago). Could it be an issue with MAC OS 10.6.2? or maybe the firmware needs an update? I'd be glad if someone could help. Cheers,

  • Mini dvi adapter

    Thanks.

I assume you want to send the video from your mac book to some kind of external display.
in that case then no the cables you have will not work since they have a mini jack at one end.
The mini dvi adapter is for sending video out of your mac book to a tv /projector or display through an S video cable (audio and video) or an RCA cable (video only). If using the mini dvi with rca you could plug your current cable into your headphone out jack and use the red and white part of it to send audio to a tv or external speaker.

First we need to know which one of the 9 different models of MacBook you have. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info (and then System Report if you’re running 10.7 Lion). When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.
The Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody and the Late 2009 model 6,1 and Mid 2010 model 7,1 White Unibody have a Mini DisplayPort. The Early 2006 model 1,1 through Early 2008 model 4,1s plus the Early and Mid 2009 model 5,2s have Mini-DVI ports. Each would take a different adapter to connect with the TV.

  • Problems with Mini DVI to S-Video/RCA adapter

    Hello
I've got a mac mini and I want to pass its image to a television (note: this television doesn't have HDMI)
I've bought the Mini DVI to S-Video/RCA adapter, but when I connect it to my TV nothing appers (except some gray lines, which means the signal is reaching the TV, but no image)
    Thanks

That connector may not be compatible with an Intel Core 2 Duo Mac Mini like yours.

  • Mini Dvi to S-video/Composite/RCA

I have a 2007 black macbook and recently bought a Mini-DVI to video adapter (brand-dynex) and hooked it up to my older television (TV has no hdmi hookup or dvi, just S-Video and RCA) and I could faintly make out my computer screen but it was all "scratchy" and was moving across the screen. I changed the resolution and it became black and gray lines moving up and down the screen. I was wondering how can I hook my computer up to this older TV to watch movies online (I wont be upset with low quality). Do I need to purchase the Apple brand adapter or is there some "tweeking" I can do to make the Dynex one work? thanks

Honestly, I was afraid of this... Oh well, I bought it off ebay and got my money refunded so no harm done. Thanks for the help and if anyone can figure some application or anything and get their adaptor to work, please contact me thanks....

  • Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter

I have just purhased a new Macbook. My first mac ever
My question is regardng the Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter.
Do I read that correctly that I can hook my macbook up via rca and s-video but not composite? Does Apple make one cable that will do both?
I would like the ability to hook up to a projector which will likely be composite. As well RCA/S-video via t.v or DVD inputs.
    Thanks
    Tig

For VGA you will need the Mini-DVI to VGA adapter. For composite video you will need the Mini-DVI to video adapter. If you want sound while using the video adapter you will need a 3.5mm to rca stereo cable. This is a y cable like this Example of 3.5mm to RCA Y cable
FYI the RCA output on the video adapter is composite video.
