Mini nb205 wild scrolling side to side screen

Hi all,
My mini nb205 is only 3 weeks old and I've had no problems with it until yesterday when something completely strange occurred. It happened while I was on aol,having an IM conversation while browsing on ebay. Nothing else open or running other than Norton(not in scan mode). All of the sudden the open window started to scroll from side to side, (not top to bottom)...faster and faster, then a bright small blue light came on at the top of the frame(what is that?) and then the bottom part of the window started to just show white.
I tried to shut down aol with no luck...screen just scrolled faster and faster. At that point all I knew to do was to hold down the power button to shut down that way. I've never experienced anything like that before and hopefully never will again.I know too well about pc freeze on other pcs but out of control scrolling, never. I was actually worried about turning it back on today, but it seems to be fine.
Does anyone know what could have happened? Has anyone else had this happen to them? Should I be worried now that something is seriously wrong with it? What is the best way to handle the situation should it happen again? Btw, this is my baby...I haven't even taken it out of the house yet, no food or drink even allowed near it, so I know it's nothing that I've done to it. Please help, I don't know what to do from from this point and am very concerned.

Hello Jim,and everyone else who kindly commented on this thread. I'm the original poster of this thread. I would have responded to all of your replies but was unable to do so. After posting the original post I was, and still am locked out of my original forum account. I tried many times to log in but am told my password is not correct. When I try to have my password sent to me I am informed I am not valid for support. Yet I continue to recieve notifications whenever someone responds to my post. I'm allowed to read them but not allowed to respond. Why would that happen?
Well I decided to make a new account, and here I am to once again try to address this issue. Which is now apparent that my netbook is not the only one effected. I am upset because even before I purchased my netbook I did much research, which included reading this forum. I purposely waited until the trackpad issue was resolved before purchasing this netbook. Checked the dates on the box as suggested to make sure I was buying an updated product.
Now this bug pops up. Which for me, if there isn't a fix is definately a deal breaker. Not only does the netbook go completely out of control, it can't be good for the unit itself to be shut down in that way on a consistant basis.
So we really need to figure this out. For a little more info, when this problem occurred, I was using a mouse. Is that something we all have in common?
And Jim to answer your question, no I haven't called support yet. I wanted to get more information both from my own experience, and from here before doing so. I haven't had the problem happen again but I also haven't been using it as much.

Firefox Doesn't Load Any Website and Scroll Bar Switches to the Left Side of the Screen??

First let me say this is a work computer that I am using, so there is plenty of virus protection and firewall. I have always used firefox for all my casual internet browsing and work network needs. I recently updated to the latest version of firefox and that is when I started having problems. Almost any web page I go to wether it is my work intranet home page or a common site such as google mozilla will not finish loading the page. If I hit refresh or try to go to another site it gets wierd and the scroll bar switches to the left side of the screen and the page seems to be stuck loading. At this point almost nothing responds to any mouse clicks except for closing the firefox window. If I go to tools --> options it brings up a blank options window with only the "ok" and "cancel" buttons displayed. Help please, I don't like using IE, but right now that is my only option.

Where is the scroll bar that used to be on the left hand side of the screen?

Am very aggrevated at itunes 11.0 trying to search through my 16000 songs on my ipod. there is no vertical scroll bar that used to be on the right hand side of the screen. How do I get it back?????

Navigation button on wrong side of screen!!!!! To scroll, I have to keep moving from side to side to go back and scroll. Move the back button to the right side!!!!

I should be able to navigate back and forward using a button on the right side of the screen. This is where I scroll up and down from so doesn't it make sense to have the back and forward button there!!!

What happened to the ability to open your bookmarks on the left hand side of the screen and scroll thru them like on IE?

In older versions of firefox, I could open the bookmarks on the left hand side of the screen, and they would stay open when i clicked on one of them, and i could use it to open multiple tabs. How do i do that in Firefox 5? I do not like the bookmark toolbar.

The bookmarks toolbar no longer displays by default & they seem to be encouraging use of the bookmarks button or bookmarks menu. The bookmarks sidebar is still available if you know the shortcut as above. There is also the bookmarks library, now under show all bookmarks, rather than organise/organize bookmarks. ( Also it is possible with a simple chrome command in the location bar to open the library as a tab enter

2011 27" iMac is dim on the RIGHT side of the screen

Just like the countless other people with the 2009 and 2011 27" iMacs, it seems the backlight is not functional on the right half of my screen. All of the other posts I've searched for seem to point to the left side being the primary issue, mine is the right, in the same spectacular manner. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this on the right side? I attempted to apply pressure at the bottom LEFT of the screen and all over the border of the LCD to no avail.
I contacted apple support, they suggested I have it checked for the recall video issue with the apple store(certain video cards). My i7 passed the tests for the video card, and i was quoted $510 to replace the screen.
The technician couldn't verify that the replacement LCD had been re-worked to avoid this issue in the future. The technician was aware of the issue and indicated she's done 10+ of these repairs, and knew it to be a common issue. She acknowledged this is a manufacturing defect, that the consumer could do nothing to avoid. She checked with her manager, the manager said that I was out of luck, that I had my chance to purchase applecare, so no break on the replacement cost/repair.
If anyone has had the issue with the right side of the screen, is there another connector which may need pressure applied to that might resolve without replacing a $500 screen?

Are you trying to convert via Adobe Reader? If so, are you able to close and restart Reader (you may need to force quit, or use Task Manager to quit Reader if it's truly frozen)? After restarting, choose Help > Check for Updates to make sure that you have the most current version.
And, if updating Reader doesn't help (or you already have the most current version), please try converting that same file using the ExportPDF web interface at https://cloud.acrobat.com.

You're talking about scrolling the screen, right?
Do the basic troubleshooting steps described in the User Guide - Restart, Reset, Restore from backup, Restore as new.
If Restoring as new doesn't help, there was hardware damage which can't be fixed by software methods.

Apple messed up the dock when its on the side of the screen...

I want to know why, oh why, the Leopard dock isn't as cool when it is on the side of the screen instead of the bottom?! I have always used my dock on the side of the screen cause it takes up so much less space. But you cannot launch stacks in fan view, only grid view and the dock isn't as nice and shiny!! The whole reason I bought Leopard was because of the fan view! Why did they do this? If I am missing something and that shouldn't be the case then please let me know. Thanks.

the new side dock looks awful, but it's an improvement over the beta versions which had the mirrored shelf on the side. if you'd like to modify the way it looks slightly, you can change the dock border graphics (in this case, the white line that runs along the outside of the dock while it is on the side) by going to System -> Library -> CoreServices -> Right-click on Dock and choose "Show Package Contents". Then, look for either "left1.png" to "left5.png" (or right1.png to right5.png) and modify the graphics as you see fit. Basically, the dock border is an 8-pixel-wide repeated graphic that runs along the outside edge. I changed mine to eliminate the white line and rounded corners and just fade off to the desktop, but it's still ugly...hopefully someone will come up with a better way of doing it soon...

I have had my iphone 4 for 18 months on contract..I have had no problems at all up until the begining of this month. The first issue was that the home button, double click issue wasn't working too well. I read that their was a way to calibrate the button which I had done ( please note this does not include opening up the phone) and I noticed that it works much better. However lately I have noticed that I have a yellow tint, line vertical on the left hand side of the screen. It is very faint when I wake my phone but then gets darker and darker.
I have read that people have noticed this on buying their new iphones however mines has just appeared. my contract is up in 6 months so I'm not keen on spending extra on the phone is there anything else I can do?

Try the basics from the manual. Restart, reset, restore.

Can't scroll to the sides in Safari

I updated to Mavericks and I can't navigate to the previous or next page visited with two fingers on Safari.
If I want to go to previous page scrolling right with two fingers, the page barely starts to move and gets stuck. After that happens, the contents won't refresh in that page or tab. The other tabs will work but in none of them I'll be able to scroll anymore (up, down, left or right doesn't matter). I have to use the arrows in the keyboard, or Safari buttons or restart Safari! This happens in Google Chorme too.
As soon as I try to scroll side to side the browser gets stuck and scroll is broken. Can't believe such a basic feature is broken like this. But not to mention the LOTS of broken buttons everywhere in the Spanish Mavericks version. There are PLENTY of those in all Apple apps and System, for example in Disk Utility - although this is a different problem.
Anyone with this problem? And I don't want to activate the scroll bars all times, this doesn't fix the problem, I want it to work.

This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

In previous versions of i Tunes you could highlight a song in your library and there would be a genious list on the right side of the screen showing songs like the one highlighted in the library. Now I do not get that list. Is there a way to get this back

My vertical column of bookmarks down the left side of my screen has disappeared and I need to find a way to get it back in the same place.

This is purely a lay-out issue. We used to be able to choose to permanently display our bookmarks vertically down the left side of the screen, and I want to continue to be able to do so. My bookmarks are not lost; I know they are in my library. But the system doesn't seems to allow me to leave them on permanently down the left side. Please help. I have Windows 7 64-bit and the latest version ofFirefox.

Do you mean that the bookmarks sidebar (View > Sidebar > Bookmarks) gets disabled?

How to I make pop up windows go back to the left side of the screen when they are moving to the right?

Whenever I click on a link, a new window pops up. That's good, that's what I wanted. They've always opened on the left side of the screen. However, they are now opening in the middle of the screen. This has happened before and the screen eventually opened completely on the right. Last time this happened, I ended up having to delete something. I don't remember what, but it solved the issue. You can check for problems caused by a corrupted localstore.rdf file.
