Mini not showing up in iTunes or charging anymore
Hello,
It seems since iTunes dramatically changed their software, we've been having issues with the mini being recognized when it's plugged into the computer. I have a regular iPod and the same cable works just fine for my iPod but when we plug the mini in, nothing happens. I've gone through the troubleshooting guide Apple has on their website with no success.
The last time this happened, I updated the software and it seemed to fix the problem. There have been two software updates since then and we've been unable to update the mini since then.
Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you.

I've hooked up my iPod mini with two different USB ports and iTunes still won't show my mini and update it. It's driving me nuts. It shows up in My Computer but it is not appearing in iTunes.
edit: Oh and the iPod is charging just fine like it normally does.I have the same issue. When I first connect my mini, it shows like do not disconnect message like usual, but then it pops back to the main menu after about ten seconds.
It shows up in my computer for as long as the do not disconnect message is displayed, but never in iTunes.
It was working fine about five days ago, and nothing has changed as far as I know.
I have tried restoring it and restarting my computer. -

I plugged my son's ipod into my mac and it won't show up on itunes. I then plugged it into the charger (it is 3/4 charged) and it won't charge either. I plugged my iphone into the mac and it connected instantly. I did upgrade my iphone via itunes about 2 weeks ago and am not sure whether this has something to do with it? Thanks in anticipation
- Does the iPOd work normally?

- Look carefully at the dock connectory on the iPod . Loofk or corroded contacts, bend cotacts nd other abnormalities. Compare with iPhone. -
Just bought a new 4th gen iPod Shuffle for my kid. Problem is I cannot do the initial set up, as the device does not show up on iTunes on my PC. Also the charging does not light up. Any ideas on what could be wrong, as I am able to see both my iphone and iPad on iTunes using the same PC?
I also tried manually underlining a few things on the new iPad and when highlighting a paragraph, it would skip a few lines and the line would go through a few as well. Looks like a major iBooks glitch needs to be addressed here.

My ipod nano 3rd generation, when connected by usb, does not show up in itunes, does not show up on my computer, does not seem to charge by the wall charger. It just has a black screen. Any ideas for me?
I've run diagnostics. Can't find device. I've tried resetting. The toggle has been turned on and off.Cable works fine on my other iPod. Reset by pressing menu and center button together for 6-10 seconds. Left it to charge for many hours. Started acting up while running. Suddenly the music stopped playing but my Nike + was still working for the rest of my run. Took it straight it home and plugged it in to the wall to recharge since the battery was fairly low. Looked like it recharged ok but then screen went blank and now does it not show up on iTunes, does not seem to recharge by the wall charger (apple wall charger plugged into a surge protector in India). I have turned the hold switch off and on many times.
Sounds like a repair issue, which is not easy to do in India :( -

With your phone plugged in, open Image Capture and see if the iPhone shows up. If not, you are having a sync problem. If it shows up in Image Capture, but not iTunes, I'd delete iTunes and reinstall it.

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

Before I un-install itunes has anyone had a problem getting an ipad mini to show up in itunes as a device when connected to the computer? My old ipad shows up but not the new mini.
Just wondered if anyone had any other suggestions.

I have some unknown Itunes charges on my credit card that I have been busting my brains on getting an answer. I HATE not getting to talk to a real person!!!! Same amount Charges show three consecutive days but does NOT show on my itunes purchase history. Suggestions greatly appreciated. A hammer to smash the computer would help too.
If they don't show on your purchase history on your account then have you have you added or changed your credit card details on your account - when you do then a small temporary store holding charge may be applied to check that the details are correct and valid, which should disappear within a few days) ? When I connect my ipod to 2 different Mac computers, it will charge but is not showing up in itunes for sync. What happened?
What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue? Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your Mac? Have you tried a different USB cable?
What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the Mac?

No idea what this means, unless you say what you have tried. When you say that you have tried "all", it really does not encourage anyone to make suggestions. If you have tried it all, then, by definition, there is nothing left to try.

it could be the cord. i have that same issue with my phone and it was the cord. you're not supposed to store the usb cord (or any other electrical cord) in a bunched up manner. anyway, i played around with my cord by bending it in different directions and now the cord works and my phone is recognized again. if all else fails, best to buy a new cord.

I just got an IPOD Nano and have been syncing it and my old Ipod Mini to ITunes. While the Mini was plugged in, i was prompted to update its software.
