Mini on Ebay Or Store?

Hey Again,(Please Read if you have the time - Important)
I'm getting closer to the time where i can finally purchase my 1st mac (Since my old Non tower G3 400). The intel core solo mini is defenatly my choice (Been researching in my free time for the last weeek-I'm very excited). Now as i stated earlier, money to
me is a huge issue. Although I could get a mini from the apple store, it would give me no $$$ left to get a monitor, keyboard and mouse. (I'd get them eventually but probably not for a while). I'm thinking my best option is Ebay because on Ebay.ca (I live in Vancouver) I can get a new one in for about 500$ CAN+ shipping (around 580-610 in total -Including tax leaving me with around 200 for a CRT monitor, cheap keyboard and mouse), but as I haven't bought anything myself over ebay i'm a little bit concerned. On the mac store it would cost me about 800 after tax leaving me 0$ for a monitor, keyboard, mouse. (As for apps i know people who deal with software- not hardware who could help me get some for cheap or maybe free)
If i go with a person who's sold 100+ items with 99+% feedback do you think its safe? I'm a bit worried because so many things could go wrong with computers (I.e any parts not functioning, Ports nort working, not even getting the mini). And i would be screwed if something did. Have you bought anything over ebay? What was your experience?

Whenever you buy and ship anything from the U.S. (especially electronics) you can expect to pay an additional 30% or more in sales tax & duty, even if it is purchased through an individual on ebay. Items have to go through customs and they can (and will) place a customs duty, provincial sales tax and sometimes a Fed Ex duty. It's crazy. Be careful. Also, if you buy on ebay within Canada you'll have some buyer protection against fraud, etc., if something were to go wrong. Personally, if I were to buy from ebay, I would only buy locally where I could pick it up in person.
I've only seen one new Intel Mac Mini on ebay (locally) and it went for just over the sales price. So you can save some of the sales tax, but then you have to weigh if it's better to buy from a store and pay full price or save a little and buy from an individual. In my opinion, at this point, it's better just to pay full price from a reseller or Apple online store.
The Toronto Apple Store has month end sales of items that have been returned or refurbished. I read that last month there were a couple of open boxed Intel Solos for a little over $600. Maybe you have a relative or close friend to check that out for you. Check the Seattle Apple Stores for those sales too.
If you are still considering buying from ebay, place a 'watch this item' on a few Mini's just to see what they end up selling for. There will always be more! As for a mouse & keyboard check out http://vancouver.craigslist.org/sss/

Ipod mini from ebay. not showing up on usb, no default disc plz help!

i recently bought an ipod mini from ebay.com. The ipod is in good running condition and works great with the songs i have on it that i got from my friends computer. The only problem is that i cannot get songs from my computer to my ipod mini because it doesnt show up when i connect it to my usb port. I never installed the disc that comes with original ipod's because mine did not come with one since i got it off ebay. Do i have to have the installation disc that comes with ipod's that you buy from the store installed on my computer to be able to use my ipod mini?? Or is there something i can download from the net for windows that would solve my problem? Pleas help!

I am amazed, that after reinstalling iTunes 9.2.1 on MacOS 10.4 after removing the kernel extension and the package receipt everything works as expected.
before reinstalling, the iPod touch neither did load, nor showed up in System Profiler.
So – problem solved, back to normal …

I need a driver that will work for my Sony DSC-S50 camera, I took my Mini to the Mac store to eject two CD's stuck. Now my camera will not download to iPhoto like it did before.

I had to take my Mini to the Mac store to retrieve a disc stuck in the drive now my camera will not download into iPhoto. I have a Sony Driver Disc,but when I try to open the disc I get a error message "Classic environment is no longer supported". I have OSX 10.6.7 what has changed?

I'm sorry, but there is no 10.7.5 - do you mean 10.4.x or 10.5.x or 10.6.x?
I asked because 10.6. (which you have now) no longer supports the classic environment, but previous OS's did. So, if the store "upgraded" you to the latest OS when you had it in for repair, then that would be the reason. So, if you can't remember which OS version was on it, I would call or go to the store and ask if they changed the OS version. Now, I'm not sure what a Sony Driver Disc is - do you mean it's the software that came with your camera? Depending on the format of your camera cards, you should be able to use a USB card reader instead which might be easier to deal with.

I've not seen it at stores, but each store has its own space restrictions, which may affect whether or not it is stocked. Call your store and ask. The number for Apple's own retail store is on http://www.apple.com/retail/ and the extension is usually 5 to speak to a real person. If you get AppleCare, you have been redirected off the store's phone system.

NEW ver. of iPod mini @ Ginza-Tokyo iTune store!?

I went to the iTunes store in Ginza, Tokyo (aug 2005).. and I saw this amazing different iPod mini:
It basically looked like a minature version of the regular iPod -- LITERALLY.(White interface, rounded edges, silver backing etc. -- but it was the SIZE of an iPod mini.)
It had iPod photo features, color screen, option 30/60gigs, and was about 40,000 yen. The sales associate told me that it was new, and that it was also available in the US; but the only thing new here that I've seen so far is the ipod Nano.
It could be just a product that only Japan is promoting, but I'm not so sure. I know you might just think i'm making this up.. but seriously, if anyone has any info on this new ipod mini, please reply.
I called customer support for the US, and they had no idea what i was talking about..haha.

Its not a new iPod Mini. Either you saw the iPod nano (replacer of iPod Mini), or you saw the new <a href="http://www.apple.com/ipod/ipod>iPod</a>. The new iPod, has a 30/60GB hard drive and costs Y34,800/Y46,800.
As you were there in August, you could not have seen the new iPod. It must have been the nano. I think you are getting the iPod nano design mixed up with the iPod specs.
Also, you were not in the 'iTunes Store'. You were in the <a href="http://www.apple.com/jp/retail/ginza/week/20051016.html">Apple Store

I tried calling my local Apple store, but I had to hold for about 10 minutes, then I decided to hang up. Does anyone know if the discontinuation had any affect on Apple not selling anymore NEW Minis? Thanks in advance.

I looked for a mini for the last month. I am not sure if they are in stock but the circuit city web site claims to have them. I ended up getting one of the refurbished from right here. I got a refurbished ibook and not only did I save a lot of money but it works fine, and looks like new. I wouldn't have been able to afford either if I hadn't bought the refurbished versions.
Only prob--I couldn't get my first choice of color--green-- but heck, the pink is still nice.

Software update and Ownership of the Mac mini with the APP store

Hi I Recently bought a used mac mini (late 2011 model with amd video card)
It works flawlessy and does everything we ask of it. My problem is that it's still recorded under the old owner's name so are the mouse an keyboard.
How can I take possesion of my purchase? Just to be clear the computer was sold to me by the original owner with proof of purchase in his name from the store (So I'm not trying to take over a stolen good) It's still under warranty and I even wanted to buy the apple care for it before the warranty expires.
Since there's no dvd everything as to go through the app store but how do I legitimize my purchase from the old owner?

Im trying to update the facebook app on my iphone 4s, but when i click update .. an apple ID that doesnt belong to me shows up and asks for the password.
Ive checked that im logged in with my own apple ID in the apps store but somehow it shows up with a different apple ID when i click update.
I only have one apple ID and therefore could not be the old / new apple ID problem and phone is completely new ...

How to delete an app ? Press and hold any of the apps and after a couple of seconds or so they should start to shake. Then press the 'x' in the left corner to delete the ones that you don't want, and when you've finished deleting press the home button so as to stop the shaking. If you don't get the 'x' on any of the apps that you've downloaded (you can't delete built-in apps) then check that Settings > General > Restrictions > Deleting Apps isn't set 'off'. Then buy and download the app with your own account.

I just bought a 2012 Mac Mini from the Apple Store Refurbished Mac Mini 2.3 i7 16 gig 256 SSD Intel 4000

If Intel 4000 Graphics uses up to 1024 gigs of Integrated where does it get it from if the computer only has a 256 SSD

The RAM (random access memory) is available to the System, and 1024MB
is 1GB. Your Solid State Drive is 256GB, or add many zeros to the MB figure.
The SSD or an HDD is storage, also where your OS X & apps live. Spare SSD
capacity could be used by the OS X as Virtual Memory. Another related topic.
You may need to acquire and use an external drive via Thunderbolt for storage
and that may be best if also an SSD since they are faster than hard disk drives
so may not lag too much with when accessed by Thunderbolt cable by the OS X.
Not sure if you understand the specifications and how they pertain to the Mac.

Transfer Lion (I bought on App Store) to a newer Mac Mini (July 2011)?

I just purchased a new "July 2011 Mac Mini" on ebay. Can I transfer the Lion (I bought on App Store) off of my older Mac Mini to the new Mini? I purchased Lion the day it came out from the App Store and had it downloaded on my 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Mini. I'd like to not have to pay for Lion again. Thank you for your input.

I took my Mac Mini to the Apple store yesterday since I was having trouble with difficult to read text. They recommended wiping the drive and reloading it. I lost iMovie, iPhoto and Garage band in the process. How can I get them back. The App store says they are already installed.

What I missed was that I needed to select "Purchased" rather than using the normal listing of items. Once I went to the purchased list I could easily download the various software.
