Mini Player making random weird sound

iTunes 11.1.3.8, whenever I open the mini player, it starts making this weird ripping sound at random intervals. 100% sure it's just the mini player because I can close it and still have iTunes running with no problems. http://youtu.be/6SK-zIsNGQQ Is there any way to fix this, or can I just not use the mini player?

I'm having the same problem. I'm fully up to date and have tried 2 clean installs of my OS and right now I am hearing the noise every 5 minutes or so. It's very stressful.

  • My macbook pro is making a weird sound, please help?

    Hello,
i have an early 2011 model, it was running soo fine until now.
its making a weird sound, to describe, it sounds like a small *trrr* at normal state, and at high, intense states, (playing games..) it turns into a loud *trrrrrr*, but, if i hit it gently over the keyboard, it goes away, then comes back.
please, i dont have an apple retail store in my country, i need help from here, help me.

first thing to do is to buy a new hard drive and an external drive before it fails so you won't lose your files.
once you've done that, put the new hard drive in the external drive and open disk utility.
format/erase your new hard drive as MAC OS EXTENDED Journaled.
After that has been done, open carbon copy (if you don't have it, you can download it for free).
Once carbon copy is open, click on clone your hard drive.  Source drive is what you're using now and your target drive is your new hard drive.
Once carbon copy is done, turn off your macbook, open the back of your macbook, take off the hard drive and install your new hard drive.
After you've done all those, turn your macbook back on and you're back in business.

  • Mac Book Pro late 2012 super drive making a weird sound after boot up

hey , i just bought my mac book and i was wondering if the weird boot up sound that seems to come from the superdrive that sounds like a robot is normal. I'm quite afraid my mac might be broken? as my previous 2011 model does not make this sound.
    Side Question:-
My mac book is new and it had it's first crash today due to me downloading a torrent. Is this normal? when it crashed it deleted the torrent that i was trying to download half way and it returned me back to my desktop, before it crash it gave me a message saying something like " your mac has crashed please press any key to restart" i forgot the message but it was something like it , and could this possibly mean i can't download torrents anymore?
Thanks for reading and taking your time to answer my questions much is appreciated.
P/S: My mac is running OS X 10.8.2

  • IPhone is making RANDOM "Sonar" sounds..

Started yesterday, not sure what I did, but every 1/2 hour to 1 hour, I get a random sound, which is the Sonar sound in general settings.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

do you have a mobile me account and does anyone else know the password to it? Thats the sound "find my iPhone" makes and can be sent via the web if someone has access to your mobile me account.
    Just a thought?

  • I recently downloaded istatpro for my macbook pro because my fans seemed to be making a weird sound when they ran.

Now, the fans aren't running at all but istat pro says that they are running at around 2000 rpm. Are the fans actually running and I just cant hear it? Or is there something wrong with istatpro? The temperatures are all around 40 degrees.

Temperature is normal and the fan speed is normal (2000 rpm are the default speed for the MacBook Pro).
Note that with higher fan speeds the fan makes louder. How does the sound look like? If your Mac is in warranty, note that any problem you have will be repaired at an Apple Store or reseller for free, always that it wasn't an accidental damage

  • Macbook Pro V10.6.6 making weird sound

My Macbook pro has started making this weird sound suddenly starting this morning. It's coming from the right side and the sound is very hard to explain. It's somewhat krrrrrrr, something like an electric, static sound. It's hard to hear at times but it can get quite annoying when it gets loud. It comes and goes. I tried restarting my computer but the sound still remains. What could that sound be? I hope all my internal hardware is fine
    Please help me out here!!

Try doing a SMC reset, it may take a couple of try's. The instructions are:
    *SMC RESET*
    • Shut down the computer.
    • Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
    • On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
    • Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
    • Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    *PRAM RESET*
    • Shut down the computer.
    • Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step
    • Turn on the computer.
    • Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    • Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.

  • Weird sound coming from above F1-F3 keys - locks computer up

I just got my MacBook Pro back from Apple and they did not fix the problem below (although, they fixed a number of small things, thankfully, like the bad speakers, crash from sleep, flaking keyboard paint, etc.). I am taking it back in today and need to figure out how to best describe this problem or point them in the right direction, since it was not addressed.
About a week ago, my MacBook Pro starting making this weird sound above the F1-F3 keys, something resembling a loud hard drive accessing sound or a sparking sound. When this happens, the cursor turns into the colored spinning beach ball, locking up my ability to interact with my computer. This continues for maybe 5-10 minutes. Then the sound stops, and the beachball goes away. But, it could come back anytime. This makes working on my computer virtually impossible as there are times it happens 3-4 times in an hour. It comes randomly, at any time. It seems some likely if the computer has been running for awhile and is overheating, but it has been known to come on bootup sometimes, as well.
No idea what his is - I already had the Main Logic Board replaced and it didn't help, so it must be another component up there underneath the F1-F3 keys.
    Any expert advice? Thank you.

will try in safe mode next unless you think anything below is the culprit!

  • 865 PRO makng weird sound

Yep, as stated my 865 pro is making a weird sound. It used to sound like bliss (near quiet...ish).
It all started when i installed Pinnacle Studio 10. It felt like it was working the cpu hard (p4 pres 3.0ghz), but from then on it sounds like the fan is making a weird sound? You know the sound of a fan when its slowing down and then speeding up, like a whirring sound. Whats going on, It can't be on its last legs already i've had this for about 2 years. What do you guys think is wrong with it and how can i fi the noise?
    Many thanks
    Andy

I advise u to send it for repair/check. If it is still within the warranty period that is.

  • Weird sounds

    Hi,
I'm having trouble with my built-in internal microphone. For some reason, it's making these weird sounds that sound something like a ship's horn (seriously). I can't hear my voice.
This happened when I tried to set up Skype. It worked a while ago once or twice, but I keep having this problem, even when Sype's off. No matter where I set the input volume, except for 0, I get this noise.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Allan O.

    Hi,
Sounds like, somehow, you've got a feedback loop. All i can suggest is deleting Skype.
    Sorry, that's all i've got!
    Cheers,
    SiR G.

  • When I started up my macbook Pro after a boat trip (just lying in my bag the whole time) it started making weird sounds. Why does it do that and how do I stop it?

When I started up my macbook Pro after a boat trip (just lying in my bag the whole time) it started making weird sounds. Why does it do that and how do I stop it?

The 13" retina MBP has two fans, left and right near the hinge and about 2.5" each from the edges of the case.
My conjecture is that one of the fans may be failing.  An appointment at an Apple store genius bar is the best option.  The evaluation will be FREE and a fan replacement (if that is the problem) should not break the bank account.
You might run an Apple Hardware Test:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11342
This may confirm my suspicion or perhaps find a different problem. Note that an error free result should not be viewed as being definitive.
    Ciao.
