Mini SATA - How do I know it's working?

Hello all,
I received by brand new T430s about 48 hours ago.  On the initial startup, I had a mini SATA detection error.  Not a good first impression, but anyways, that issue was supposedly resolved after the customer support rep directed me to install some updates.
How can I tell if the disk is working correctly?  I've been running the computer with the task manager open, and so far my "Disk 1" (SanDisk SSD U100 16GB) has shown zero activity, even when the C: drive and CPU are operating at near 100%.  Also, the stats in the bottom right show 0 MB formatted, can that be right?
Thanks for your help!

Open a COMMAND Prompt --- as an ADMINISTRATOR <=====  --- and type in
eccmd -info
and hit the <ENTER> key.
If it gives a series of responses, ending with percentages for cache read & cache write, then everything is working correctly.

How do you normally do ti when you switch computers?
Does Windows not have a method of transferring everything from one computer to another?
You can use your backup copy of your computer to copy everything.
For the itunes portion, you can type "move itunes library" into the google search bar.
Windows should have a way to copy all doc/pics/files/contacts/calendars/etc.

  • Paragraph Styles - how do i Know they are working on my site...So Business Catalyst (blog) can inherit them?

I have created my site in Muse and have adding a business catalyst blog module.
I have created my paragraph styles and added some code to the modulestylesheet.css.
Why is the blog not reading the typekit fonts?
How do I know muse is rendering the fonts properly?
    Any thoughts would be appreciated,
    Darren

    Hi Darren,
I'm sorry you ran into trouble here. Currently, you can only use and preview the free and open-source Typekit fonts in Muse.
If you're comfortable with a little HTML/CSS, the Muse Insider wrote a post on how to insert the Typekit embed code from the Muse interface:
    http://museinsider.com/how-to-add-typekit-fonts-to-your-muse-site.html
Or you can add the embed code to the Page Properties dialog within Muse, which will include it in the <head> of the page when you export your website.
However, we do see the value of being able to design in Muse with all the fonts in your Typekit library. This will require a deeper integration between Typekit & Muse. I'll give the team a nudge in this direction for you.
Also, I would be happy to take a look at a live url from the site. I'll be able to tell of the Typekit fonts are working and if not, suggest a solution. Let me know if you have any further questions and thanks for your patience.
    Cheers,

  • Video in..how do i know it's working

I have finally got around to trying the video in feature on my GeForce 4 4200ti vtd 8x.  I have the latest nvidia wdm capture drivers installed properly, but every time I try to use winproducer to capture a composite video signal from my vcr I am given the message..."unable to start recording".
This version of win producer came bundled with the card, and, as a result of other software "bundle problems", I decided to try a full retail version of the same program.
    Guess what......."unable to start recording".
My question is this........how can I check the card itself to see if the video in even works?
I have no problems in my device manager, and I usually know what I am doing(LOL).
    Any suggestions?

  • How do I know it's working?

    Hello there,
Trying to do a NetInstall. Basic info of what I can see at the moment:
Server Admin- NetBoot has a gray circle next to it and says that NetBook Service is: Not available.
NFS is Green Light, DHCP is Red. Nothing listed in Logs or Clients.
The Machine being Net Installed- Startup - World Icon flashes - Apple logo with spining globe below it - turns to a spining wheel - Blue screen with the spining wheel.... has been like this for a 3+ hours.
Other then this spinning wheel and I don't know what it means, I've no idea what's going on there is no feed back at all?
Is it doing a net install?
    Thanks inadvance.

Jeff is correct. The gray circle is your indication that it's not working... along with the Not Available text. There are various things that can cause this scenario. Searching this forum may of help. One thing that can cause this is if you've managed to get a bad index number in one of your NBImageInfo.plist files. For a single server scenario, valid indexes would be between 1 and 4095.

  • How do I know firefox is working

I recently scanned my computer with McAfee Security and it said it was at risk, why Did Firefox not fix this at risk problem?

Until a problem is identified as something to do with Firefox itself, Mozilla is not likely to do anything. Your posting is too vague. Contact McAfee to find out what the message you see means, of course they would need to know what message you see, or check out their forums, possibly there are links in the message.

  • How do you know what HDD to get for MacBook?

    Hi,
I've read loads of posts but am really a average Mac user and don't know much about memory/hard drives or any hardware to be honest.
I have a MacBook which I bought in January 2009. It's a 13 inch aluminium one so I think that makes it the late 2008 model as that's all I can find when I'm searching. I bought the 160GB model which I think was a 2 ram.
I now have about 95GB free but software takes ages to load sometimes the icon bounces for a while, software also freezes or lags too.
Does this mean if I get a bigger hard drive these problems will go? I've had it just nearly 3 years and really don't want to buy another one as they're expensive. I took it in to apple and they did a complete refresh or something so it was like new but still after I put all my work back on the memory went down again and problems came back.
I have no idea how to change the hard drive although I can see it when I open the battery cover.
Could anyone help me pick one I just want the most storage I found this link but am confused on which one to pick or if they're any good: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=1657&catid=1660&subid=1667
Do I then have to get RAM too? How do I know it will work and not ruin my laptop?
Don't I have to put the OS back on? I bought the upgrade through the app store as It came with leopard and I got the disk update for snow leopard so which disk do I use?
Also where does my work go, should I move it all onto a USB first then move it to the new one?
I'm sorry I just really can't deal with it slowing down as I have a lot of things open as I'm doing my dissertation, but also don't want to risk losing all my files at this stage as it's my last year at university and don't want to lose any work or files/ software like word etc.
I do use time machine has I bought an external to try get rid of the problem but when I connect the external one in using USB my mac starts to slow down and freeze up anyway.
Sorry if this is a lot and if it's already been asked but I'm just so confused, I asked the apple store if they can do it but they said they can't and to look online and google around.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
If that's not a typo and you really do have 95GB free on your 160GB hard disk, it is unlikely that a larger hard drive will noticeably speed up your system. If it was a typo, and you have only 95MB free, then yes, you are extremely short of hard disk space, and a larger hard drive would absolutely help.
Here's a step by step video that shows the process: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcMtKfDIKHY
You need a small phillips screwdriver and a Torx T6 to accomplish the task. Since your old drive still works, you should probably purchase an external USB enclosure for it, and use it to transfer data from your old drive to your new drive before installation. Then you'll have the old drive as an additional external drive for backup or 'testing' OS upgrades.  I use mine to download and install the latest OS X upgrades before installing them on my 'working' machine.
Apple MacBook internal hard drives are usually 5400 rpm. A 7200 rpm drive will give you a slight performance boost, without significantly reducing battery life or increasing noise or heat. Recent floods in Thailand have shut down major hard disk manufacturers and have significantly increased hard drive prices, so if you still have 95GB free, you should wait until prices stabilize in a few months. If you DO need to purchase a drive, a 500GB model is likely to meet your storage needs for a long time. Internal Macbook hard drives need to be 2.5" SATA, and a maximum of 9.5mm in height.  From the vendor you linked to, these drives are listed:
    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=1657&catid=1660&subid=1667
I haven't tried hybrid or SSD drives, so I won't comment on either of them.
A RAM memory upgrade would be my first recommendation.
Snow Leopard runs quite well on 4GB RAM. Your MacBook unibody (the aluminum one) can use 2GB, or 4GB, RAM modules, up to a total of 8GB. Details here: http://blog.macsales.com/9102-secret-firmware-lets-late-08-macbooks-use-8gb.
It is likely that you currently have two 1GB RAM modules inserted, so purchasing a set of two 2GB modules or two 4GB modules is the best solution. If you intend to upgrade to OS X Lion 10.7 eventually, I'd purchase the 2x4GB=8GB RAM upgrade now, rather than just 4GB. I've purchased several hard disk and RAM upgrades for family Macs from OtherWorldComputing, www.macsales.com. I'm not sure that www.macsales.com sells in the UK.
Macs are finicky about RAM, and you should be certain before purchase that your Apple reseller GUARANTEES it will work reliably or let you return it and get a refund. Even 'name brand' RAM that seemingly meets all the specs is not always reliable.
I'll also mention my experience with the performance of Snow Leopard.  I'm still using Snow Leopard OS X 10.6.7 for performance reasons.
I have a mid-2007 MacBook with 4GB (3GB RAM is the maximum usable on my particular system) RAM and a 500GB 7200 RPM hard drive.
When I updated to 10.6.8 on my 'temporary' drive, I found that Safari browsing was significantly slower with LOTS of beachballs, and overall system performance seemed noticeably slower, so after a week (given time for indexes to update and so on) or so I reinstalled from the Snow Leopard CD (10.6.3) and downloaded the Combo Update to 10.6.7, instead of automatically updating all the way to 10.6.8.
    Hope that helps!
Finally, I'm shocked that an Apple Store would not be more helpful!

  • How do I know if my brand new Mac mini (late 2012) really has Mac OS X 10.9 Maverick preinstalled?

How do I know if my brand new Mac mini (late 2012) really has Mac OS X 10.9 Maverick preinstalled, as stated when I bought it, without opening the box and booting the device? It says "Copyright 2012 Apple Inc." on one of the sides of the box, which makes me uncertain.
If it does not have Mac OS X 10.9 Maverick preinstalled I might have bought an old device, in worst case as old as a year or more.
            /Birger

The late 2012 does have USB 3 !!
I specifically waited to purchase a Mac Mini
until USB 3 was made available.
Look at the diagram (picture) on the bottom of the box.  The diagram that details which ports are available on the unit.
If you see 3 after USB.. then it is a late 2012 Mac Mini.
Looking at my box it clearly says USB 3.
I don't think there has been any changes to the Mac Mini since late 2012.
other than the pre-installed OS being Mavericks now..
    You will want USB 3!!!
My box also indicates it is version 2.6 (just above the Airport ID).
(Mine is definitely a late 2012 model).

  • How do you know what Mac Mini version you are getting?

I heard that as of September 2005, Apple had completly updated there Mac Mini's.. I heard that they put in a 64mb 9200 Graphic Card, and all had Bluetooth and Airport.. But, how would I know that what I am getting is the updated version? Compusa's Mac Mini has the July 2005 config posted, but no September updated specs..
Thanks! If I can get this issue resolved, I might be picking up the September 05 Mac Mini. I'm new, so I hope I posted this on the right place!

Will it be just luck if I pick up the updated version
or does the box state the actual spec's in the
    store?
If not, then this really will get madd. I was
thinking about switching over to Mac from WXP but if
they can't market/organize there specs better then
Apple won't get my XP to Mac switch. Plain and simple.
All you can do is assume that the specification Apple quote for the mini, and that is printed on the box, is the specification of the system you are buying. If it turns out to be uprated, you are fortunate, but otherwise it'll be exactly what you paid for.
Clearly, if Apple were ONLY selling uprated models, the specification they quote would be changed to reflect that fact.
The decision to purchase a system should be based on whether the model available meets your needs. As to Apple not being able to organize their specifications better, you might consider the possibility that the reason they don't quote better specifications for minis being sold is because not all minis being sold meet those improved specifications.
