Mini Stereo Speaker (great concept disappointing performance)

Blackberry!!! what are you doing.
I have bought the new mini stereo speaker. the concept and workmanship is excellent.
You can attach it on any safety belt...bag carrying strap....standby time...operating time is excellent.
it can be used as portable "stereo" speaker and you can connet "ordinary" headphones, earphones to use bluetooth stereo...
BUT:
The sound is very disappointing!  Blackberry claims that they use Bluetooth 3.0 but in fact the performance is even less than 2.1 bluetooth versions...the typical "chirping" and distorted sound of old style bluetooth generation 2 and 2.1
For the ones who do not care about good sound quality it is an amazing product with excellent usability...for the ones who care about sound quality (at least for headphone use...because that those tiny built in mini stereo speakers cannot perform nice is oabvious) it will be a dissapointing experience and the item is outperformed by any bluetooth headphone or receiver in the market nowadays!  As a hands free system it is JUST enough...
Either Blackberry has mixed up their bluetooth chip sets in production or they just name it bluetooth 3.0 and use 2.1...the item is not that cheap and for this price "sound matters"!
Blackberry smartphones always had very good bluetooth sound quality...i use it in my car from old Bold generation onwards (now i use Q10...still a great stereo sound with bluetooth, much better than iphone and android phones) but in combination with their OWN mini speaker a desaster...i tested the device also with Sony Experia Z...it was slightly better, but still bad!
I always had been a Blackberry fan...but slowly and constantely you make me run away from your brand, Mr Thorsten Heins! you are frustrating Blackberry user, like me, already by skipping all that great features of the past (security and data compression) and great concepts of useful accessories lag the right technical solutions which are standard nowadays!
Kind regards from Vienna,
Rafael

I have not seen this issue with mine and I have used it on my Q, Z and 9860

  • Would 256 SSD on 2012 Mac Mini significantly improve Final Cut Pro Performance?

Would a 256 GB SSD on a 2012 Mac Mini significantly improve Final Cut Pro Performance? I'm considering a 2012 Mac Mini 2.6 Quad Core with 16 GB RAM and a 256 GB SSD with external Thunderbolt drives.

It will only improve the read and write performance, and this is not as important as the processor and the GPU in Final Cut Pro.
The Mac mini has got an integrated GPU that may work if you are a home user, but if you are a professional user, you should consider an iMac, a 15-inch MacBook Pro or a Mac Pro. You won't notice a big performance increase

  • Recording in using the audio in with a mini stereo cable

Does anyone here use the audio port on the MacBook to record? I see there are several ways of using studio mics like Blue Microphone's Icicle XLR converter. What would the quality of recording be if I were to connect my synth using a cable with L&R 1/4' jacks to mini stereo jack and go staight into the audio jack and record?
Would it be better to get a better soundcard?
    Thanks

    Thanks Lyssa,
Right now, I take a cable that is stereo RCA down to mini stereo and run that between the mixer and the Edirol recorder. The RCA plugs go into the left & right of the mixer and the mini goes into the line in on the Edirol. Work perfect. I also do this with a cassette deck to the Edirol to copy what's on the tape.
I figured it would work for that too.
But, if I need a preamp, maybe I could come out of the headphone jack and just convert it from 1/4" to mini stereo in the MacBook?

  • A 'Mini Stereo Speakers' riddle

    Hello,
    A riddle I can't figure out;
I want to pair my Blackberry Mini Stereo Speakers with my Z10, but the Z10 does not see them, but it pairs up fine with my Playbook so I think the Z10's Bluethooth is working ok.
My iPod Touch sees my Blackberry Mini Stereo Speakers and pairs up just fine with them.  So I think the Speakers are working ok.
My girlfriend's Android Smartphone doesn't see my Blackberry Mini Stereo Speakers either.
Any idea of what might be wrong?
    Solved!

Turn on pairing mode Press and hold for 5 seconds, until you hear 3 short beeps.

  • Samsung MM-D470D mini-stereo & iPod Touch 2nd Gen

I recently purchased a Samsung MM-D470D mini-stereo with DVD player and iPod dock.  The manual says it works with iPod Touch 2nd Gen, but when I plug mine into the dock, my iPod says "iPod Touch does not work with this accessory."  The battery charges briefly until the message comes up.  Samsung says to contact Apple, and of course, I'm long past my warranty date.  The drivers on the iPod Touch are up-to-date and it works well otherwise.
Can anyone help?  I have two more weeks to take the Samsung back and get something else, but I'd rather keep it because it's a nice unit and works well with my TV.  Thanks!

Some other uses have reported problesm with accessories no longer working after updating the iOS on their iPods.  Using the Comunities search function in the upper right, I would search for Samsung and see what you get.

  • Airport Express only plays music through one stereo speaker.

I have my stereo system connected to an airport express through a monster cable. It only ever plays through one speaker. If I connect my iPod to the stereo through the same monster cable connection it plays through both speakers. Does anyone have any idea why music only plays through one speaker when I play it wirelessly through airport express? Thanks.

    HOW TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM
(if your airport is out of warranty, you don't want to pay for a repair, and you don't mind how it looks)
After reading many forums about this, it seems that the problem is a simple design one - the connector in the headphone jack input is a bit badly thought out; it bends out of connection easily, and there is nothing to spring it back into place. So, after a bit of usage and plugging/unplugging jacks in, it bends far enough to stop the connection.
It can be (sort of) easily fixed...
What you need is a small screwdriver and a hammer.
Pries the casing open (this will partly destroy it forever) by hammering in the screwdriver into the gap in the casing. Do this gradually at various points all around it until it start to come apart.
You will then be able to open in (partially)
If you look inside there is a connector that needs to be disconnected so that the two halves can come apart. disconnect this.
Next, unscrew all the screws you can see (using a 00 philips head screwdriver) These screws both hold the circuitry to the case and a metal dividing plate over the headphone/printer/ethernet jacks.
Pull the metal cover off (the cover that covers the components)
You will then see a circuit board that contains the headphone jack, carefully remove this (It is connected by a removable connector.)
You now have the headphone input and it's circuitry in your hand.
You will notice that the H-P input has a small metal case around it. Carefully prise this off.
Now you see a yellow sticker and underneath this - THE OFFENDING ITEM (BAD CONNECTOR)
Peel the sticker off carefully (you need to put it back on afterwards)
Push the connector into the H-P Input - make sure you bend it and it pokes out in the H-P hole so it will make a nice connection.
Put it all back together again.
Wrap it in duck tape or selotape (as the case is now a bit broken)
That's it - that's all you have to do!
    Music in both channels!!
Did this with mine and it works perfectly now - just be careful with the circuit boards when taking apart.

  • IPod Touch 5th gen no longer working with Mini stereo...

I have an 'entertainment pack' in my Mini that allows me to connect my iPod Touch 5th gen to the car stereo (via USB & aux in cables) to both listen to it and scroll through my music through the stereo interface. I have had a few problems before with it not connecting but these usually resolved themselves within a day or so and I think were more to do with my lightning to 30 pin adapter than my actual iPod. However, since I installed the latest ios7 update a couple of days ago I cannot get it to work at all and keep getting a message saying 'this accessory is not supported' when I plug the iPod into my car. Any suggestions on how I can resolve this?

Try another adopter, a genuine Apple one
    Next:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
      - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
Sometimes an iOS update breaks compatibility and you will have to wait for an update to either the car system or to the iPod

  • Mac Mini Internal Speaker and Airport Adapter

I have the 2008 Mac Mini Intel Core 2 Duo 1.83Ghz. I have been having problems with the internal speaker and the internal airport adapter.
    Speaker:
80% of the time, the internal speaker isn't working when booted into OS x, and when the mini is starting up it doesn't make the startup sound.
    Airport Adapter:
The signal drops to 1 bar all the time with the router but a couple feet away. It would start off as 4-5 bars and then drop to 1-2 bars and then stay there.
    Please Help!
    Thanks,
    Jimmy

    I FIGURED IT OUT!
To get this to work, you need to buy two things:
    1) Audio Hijack Pro software by RogueAmoeba, with the SoundFlower plugin.
    2) Griffin iMic.
Once you've installed both the hardware and software, do the following:
    1) In Hijack Pro, create a session with source type: audio device, and SoundFlower 2Ch as the input, and iMic as the output.
    2) Create a second session again with source type: audio device, and SoundFlower 2Ch as the input, but change the output to "Built-in Output."
    3) Click the "Hijack" button for both sessions, so Hijack Pro is hijacking audio from Soundflower and routing it to both outputs simultaneously.
    4) In System Preferences/Sound, change sound output to "SoundFlower 2Ch".

  • Most popular iPhone to stereo speaker systems adapter/interface

new to iPhone and I wonder what folks say about interfaces to use the iPhone for home audio and possibly video

I use the Apple Composite A/V Cable.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB129LL/B?fnode=MTY1NDA0OQ&mco=MzE5MzgwMQ
It provides great sound and video quality, can plug into most stereos and televisions (make sure you have the red and white audio inputs on the stereo and all three red, white, and yellow audio/video inputs on the TV or VCR/DVD player). It's more costly than most standard stereo connectors, but it has more abilities.

  • Will reinstalling Yosemite on Late 2011 Mac Mini iCore5 4GB DDR3 help improve performance?

    I have a late 2011 Mac Mini with icore5 and DDR3 4GB RAM.
To me performance was extremely good with Lion and Mountain Lion. I did love Lion though.
Mavericks improved the performance I did miss on Mountain Lion. But with Yosemite I feel I made a blunder.
My machine doesn't have the capacity to do App Nap effectively, or may be absent.
What happens most of the time is that Safari works extremely fast however all of my system apps behave bizzardly slow.
I thought it could be after initial install and waited for nearly 3 months for the OS to speedup on its own but it lags terribly.
I dont have problems playing iTunes, Safari, facetime and other live meeting apps.
I suspected my harddrive and tested it but that was working fine.
I now only think of reinstalling the OS believing it would speed up. Or should I do a clean install please let me know.

  • IPod Nano, 7th generation, compatible mini-stereo system?

We recently purchased an iPod Nano, 7th generation as well as a Sony mini-system and 30-pin - Lightning adapter. The iPod would not play on the stereo. I have called both Apple and Sony. Sony tells me their stereos are not compatible with 7th generation iPod Nanos. So, I returned the stereo.
Does anyone have a stereo that works with the iPod Nano, 7th generation?

  • MA-15D Edirol Stereo Speaker review

    Hi guys
Just wants some advice on this speaker. Is it good for desktop editing? Any expert out there please advice me because i'm going to propose this to my new post production lab in school. Mainly for FCP and Avid Xpress DV.
    Thank you

I haven't tried them myself, but the reviews I read don't rate them particularly high in sound quality (highly colored sound, poor bass response are the general reports). If you really want to go optical, get a stereo amplifier with an optical audio input; then you can choose whatever speakers you like. But if you're going for small computer-type speakers, I really doubt that going optical will make much difference in quality over an analog set.
