Mini won't recognize playlists

When I created a playlist the i-tunes gave me a message about not having enough space and created it's own playlist taking my 4 others off. I proply deleted the own i-tuns created (oops) and now it won't recognize any of the playlists and my ipod has no songs on it at all. Can you help?

  • New Mini won't recognize Apple USB modem

I hate being thick but I can't figure out why my new mini won't recognize the Apple USB modem I just purchased. The network preferences see the built-in Airport card, Bluetooth, Ethernet and Firewire, but I cannot get it to recognize any kind of modem (internal or external).
I figured it might be an uninstalled component (this is the Mini with built-in Airport) and looked through the OS X installation discs, but no. I can't find any drivers on the Apple site for the modem... has anyone had any success with this?
    Many thanks in advance,
    m.
    Mini / 1.42Ghz/airport   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

Doh! Upgrading the system to 10.4.4 did the trick. I guess the right drivers for the USB modem weren't in the earlier version to be recognized.

  • My Mac mini won't recognize photo library in itunes so I can download pics from library and free up space in memory, I was able to download camera role but not photo library that takes up more space.

My Mac mini won't recognize iphone 4 photo library in itunes so I can download pics from library and free up space in memory, I was able to download camera role but not photo library that takes up more space. Help thanks

The photo sync is one-way: Computer to phone. Photos synced to your phone will have to be extracted from your phone using third-party software, if you want them on your computer, as Apple makes no provision to do so. Since you're using a Mac, you can use this:

  • Mac Mini won't recognize CD's after installing Leopard

I keep having to do a restart to get my mac mini to recognize CD's for importing into iTunes. I insert a CD it spins - it temporarily see it in iTunes (less than 1 sec - more of a 'flash') then thats it. I have to restart in order for mac or iTunes to see CD. Other than that, Leopard install seems to work fine.

Same problem here, on certain CD's only. Most CD's work fine.
Upon inserting the CD, iTunes will open, the CD will show up as an icon in iTunes for a split second, and then disappear. The CD does not appear on the desktop. CD can be ejected with the eject button on the Apple keyboard though.
When I change system preferences to ignore CD insertion, the CD mounts fine and shows up in iTunes.
This has been happening since installing 10.5 and several different versions of iTunes.
The same CD that won;t work on 10.5 works fine with my G5 PowerMac running 10.4.8 and iTunes 7.0.2.
This appears to be an OS 10.5 issue, then.

  • Mac mini won't recognize airport base station

    Hi,
I am posting a new thread because I can't find one that is similar to my case. I have a late 2010 Mac Mini. Here is what happened:
    1. Using it this morning to wirelessly print a document. Recieved notice that printer appears off-line.
    2. Re-booted printer, re-started airport base (snow white) , no luck.
    3. Did above again and restarted Mini... no luck
    4. Airport signal indicator suddenly went gray on the bar and notice asking me to join an unrecognized netwok.
    5. restarted Mini... would not recognize my network and Airport Base station
    6. restarted mini and ABS.. still the same gray bars but being prompted to join someone else's network
    7. did no.6, 3-more times... no change
    8. Opened airport utility... does not appear in the scan
    9. opened network preferences and clicked remember network... restarted... same SIGH!
    10. checked system profiler... airport card is on but is "not associated". (Could it be broken but on?)
    11. did no.6 again and also restarted DSL modem... same thing
    12. Turned on my Macbook ABS recognized and was able to print my document through it no problem.
Until an hour after I turned on my Mini, it was fine.
All other devices 2 macbooks, 2 windows PCs, iPod Touches and wireless printers work.
my first instinct was to do a permissions repair but it was taking to long to finish and had to leave... will this help?
ABS and Mac-mini all have latest updates. frustrated ,have to go to work... PLS HELP.
    thanks

I'm sure if this is related but I'm also having a problem connecting a pre-2009 mac mini to an Airport base station. I have two others and they are working fine but one will not connect.
I can see the airport station and get a prompt for my password. When I try it, it times out and cannot connect. Another strange thing is the signal is only showing 2 out of 4 bars. The base station is less than 15 feet away and other devices like my iPhone show a very strong signal. The older mini is only 802.11g so I have left the multicast rate on the base station at 2.2 which I believe is the default.
I had been using an 802.11n USB adaptor but I wanted to go back to the internal wifi because the USB adaptor would disconnect whenever the computer went to sleep. I have the mini connected as a media center on a tv so having to always log again was getting frustrating.
I may try a clean install again, but the machine was just formatted and updated with a clean 10.6 about 2 months ago. I didn't install much beyond eyeTV and a few FrontRow plugins. Any ideas on how to debug wifi problems?

  • New Mac mini won't recognize iPhone or iPad w/o cord

My new Mac Mini doesn't seem to want to sync with my iPad 2 or my iPhone 4s without plugging them into the mini with a cable. Why is this, and can I change some settings to make it recognize them without a cable?

Upgraded to Lion a few months ago, and work remotely from home using Timbuktu Pro which I've used for years.Have been using Lion for the past few months without problems. In the past few weeks if the remote computer, a mac mini  (at my office) is not accessed, the screen appears to be gray when viewing remotely and I cannot wake it up. Energy saver preferences are set to wake up with network access, never go to sleep, keyboard is an Apple USB as well as USB mouse. I had used a bluetooth mouse & thought that might be the issue, so I disconnected it at the end of the day although Bluetooth is still on. Tried disconnecting an external drive (USB) but that didn't make a difference. The only way it will wake up is if someone at the office physically clicks the mouse a few times, then it wakes up. I've tried sending a fax to the remote computer as the office fax machine is connected to the remote computer; the fax is received as it shows up in the Dropbox, but that doesn't wake the mac mini. Very puzzled as all worked well until a few weeks ago. Display has not been changed (DVI), have not added new peripherals although I do have a powered hub connected to the remote computer which I haven't tried disconnecting. Bottom line is that nothing has changed other than Lion upgrades. As so many people are having a problem, I suspect this is a Lion issue. The remote mac mini is approximately 2 years old. I upgraded the RAM about 6 weeks ago to 8 GB (Crucial) and haven't tested that, but it was working fine after the RAM upgraded until recently.

  • Mac Mini won't recognize Airport Extreme

I just purchased an airport extreme and am trying to hook up my mac mini via an ethernet cable to the airport extreme (plan to add a new macbook w/ wireless). Would like to share a dial-up connection between the mini and the yet to be purchased macbook (I know dial up is lame but I can't yet get DSL in my area). I plugged an ethernet cable from my mac mini into the <--> on the airport extreme and run the AIRPORT SETUP ASSISTANT. The assistant recognizes that I do not have a aiport card installed in my mini and says "you will only be able to configure the aiport base stations using ethernet". I think this is okay since I am hooking up the mini via an ethernet cable. When I continue the ASSISTANT says "No new airport networks were found". Am I able to hook up my mini this way? Any help would be very appreciated. I talked to APPLE technical phone support and they suggested that I take my mini and new extreme into an apple store to be looked at???
    Thanks !!

Thanks !! Using your answer I determined that my ethernet port was not enabled. I was able to see the AP and configure it. Unfortunately, although I was able to connect to AOL via the AP built in modem I can not launch any web sites via the safari browser or the built in AOL browser. Was on the phone with AOL for an hour and they basically threw in the towel because I was able to connect to AOL. I went to the Apple store in Tucson AZ. and was very dissappointed with the "genius" bar. The first guy looked really confused when I explained the problem and said I should proabably wait for another "apple genius" (he did hook up my mac mini though - and ran some disk checks which seemed like a waste of time). The other "mac genius" came over and I kid you not said "well - good luck". He did not even attempt to help me. I was absolutely floored. He walked away with another customer. I started to pack my stuff up and walk out of the store when a young kid (another "mac genius" came over and asked if he could help). He explained that there are known issues with the airport express and AOL (even though APPLE advertises AOL compatibility). He suggested that I update the firmware - even though the unit is brand new.
So here I am. Trying to use the APPLE products that everyone seems to rave about. The technical support at the APPLE store was extremely poor. I migrated from WINTEL machines to my first mac (the mini) and this is not what I expected to encounter.
Thanks for your help. At least half of my problem was solved.

  • New Mac Mini won't recognize passcode for wireless keyboard

Just unboxed my new Mac Mini and have started the install process.  Made it to the wireless mouse ok, then the keyboard.  It finds the keyboard, gives me the passcode, then I enter it and press enter as requested, and nothing happens.  It just spins through the process again and again.  I have installed new batteries, turned all things on and off at random, and turned off bluetooth on all other devices that might be interfering.  Any ideas?

Take the batteries out of the keyboard
    Turn off the computer
Put batteries back in keyboard and hit the power button on the side
    wait 5 seconds
    turn on mini
go back through the setup process
    works every time for me

  • Mac Mini won't recognize CD's

I've bought a couple of new CD's recently and tried to import them into iTunes but my computer doesn't even recognize the CD. It seems like it tries to read the CD for about 30 seconds or so, then it just ejects it. No error message or anything.
I wonder if record companies are encrypting their CD's so you can't "pirate" them?

No not really however after reading many posts I think that the drive is just dead. I bought a new one at http://eshop.macsales.com/ and found installation instruction on the apple support website. It seems to be a simple replacement and for less then $100 i get a much powerful drive. I guess sometimes these drives just die. Good luck.

  • My new mini won't recognize an external drive (LaCie 1TB  porsche design)....any ides why?

Have a new Mac Mini, using an external drive but I can't get it to show up in finder. It's a Lacie 1TB Porsche design HDD, using a USB connection directly into the mini. I tried it at first by connecting to an open usb on my cinema display......no good. Also no good when connected directly into the mini. Any help would be appreciated!

    Three questions.
    1. Have you got Finder > Preferences set to show external disks?
    2. Does it show/mount in Disk Utility (and if so have you verified it there)?
    3. What format is it?

  • Mac Mini won't recognize APS HD

I want to connect an APS 9GB hard drive (ancient) to my Mac Mini. I have an adaptor cable (HD50 to SCSI-2) which goes from Mac Mini USB port to the back of my terminated APS drive (I also have the adaptor needed to connect the above cable to the CN-50 terminal on the back of the APS). So all seems fine, but (whether I turn on the hard drive first, then the computer..or the other way around), my Mac Mini doesn't read the APS drive. Any way to make this work?

    >it supports anything newer than OS 8.5 or 8.6. It needs an Apple USB driver update (?).
Since adapters of this kind were used primarily for early iMac computers, support for something like Mac OS 8.x and 9.x would be expected. This does not necessarily mean that the adapter cannot be used under Mac OS X, but we do not know whether or not special driver software is available or required for a certain operating system version.
    >"at least one SCSI device must supply termination power" (?)
It is probably wise to use the adapter with only one SCSI device, so termination power must be supplied by the hard drive. This is often controlled by a jumper setting  (do you know the exact hard drive model inside the case?).
    >I have a terminator on the hard drive (green light on it lights when the hard drive is on)
That sounds like an active terminator. I guess that the fact that the light is on not only means that termination is OK, but also that there is termination power...
SCSI can be difficult under normal circumstances, and here you have additional unkown factors, so be prepared to experiment with jumper settings, termination, SCSI ID, etc. General SCSI information can be found in the following article: http://support.apple.com/kb/ta27743 .

  • Mac Mini won't recognize Apple Network Printer

My Mac mini (1.42 GHz, 2005) suddently stopped recognizing my network printer. It's a printer run off of an Airport Express card, and works perfectly with my other two Macs on the system. I have deleted and reinstalled the driver on the mini, the rest of the network seems to work fine, but when you go to print to the printer, it goes to la-la land and then sets another printer as the default.
    Any ideas?

I figured it out. Had to reset the router.

  • Mac mini won't recognize iphone 5

    itunes 9.2.1
    Tried to get updates.
Tells me server could not be contacted.  Check your internet connection.  But I am connected.

iPhone 5 requires iTunes 10.7 or later.  And for iTunes 10.7,
OSX 10.6.3 or later is required.
So, OSX 10.4.11 and iTunes 9.2.1 won't work with iPhone 5.

  • IChat AV 2.1 on Mac Mini won't recognize iSight Camera

I am helping a friend connect an iSight camera to his new Mac Mini.
The green light on his camera comes on, but iChat's preferences panel claims no camera is detected. No green camera icon is displayed in the buddy list.
His camera works fine on my PowerBook G4.
    Please help if you can.

    Hi Larry,
Welcome to the Apple Discussion Pages.
    1) OK First he should try to kmake sure his computer is functioning as sweetly as it can.
Go Here and force the Cron scripts to run (See Routine Maintenance Tasks). Repair Permissinons afterwards as well.
    2) Also check the View menu in iChat and the Show Video Status should be Ticked. (Also check the Show Audio Status)
    3) In the Video menu the Camera Enabled item should be Ticked.
    4) If this does not help then delete
com.apple.ichat.plist as this holds the Camera details.
    Restart iChat afterwards.
This .plist file is in Users/(youraccount)/Library/Preferences.
