MiniDisplayport issue with QuickTime

I already updated the firmware of the MiniDisplayport-to-VGA-Adapter but there's still a turning black of the screen from time to time when I use QuickTime and the laptop's screen is shut. Anybody else with the same problem and hopefully with a solution for this ?!
best wishes and thanks in advance,
daniel

Hi iPodUser - I'm having exactly the same problem with my new iMac Duo. I remeber a while back (the last keynote I think) I couldn't get a connection on my old Mac so I followed some suggestions and changed Quicktimes transport setup (in advanced tab of quicktime prefs) to HTTP and it worked perfectly.
I tried this on my new iMac but seem to have uncovered a bug!? I switch the transport setup to HTTP/port 80 but quicktime refuses to remember and reverts back to Automatic transport setup. I'd be very interested to see if you can select HTTP and whether quicktime remembers it.
Curiously I opened quicktime using Rosetta and the Macworld Keynote streamed perfectly but used an incredible amount of CPU. However the transport setup bug!? was the same.
Can anyone with a new intel iMac and a spare minute please see if they have the same problem.
Many thanks
T.

Has anyone run into any issues with Final Cut Pro after an update to QT 7.6.4 and iTunes 9.0.1? I'm running FCP 6.0.6 on Leopard 10.5.8. QT is at 7.6.2 and iTunes is 8.2.1.

  • Issues with Quicktime in Mavericks. I cant export to quicktime codecs in After Effects Or Premiere

    Hi,
I recently updated to OS Mavericks. And in the beginning I really liked the update, but I recently fired up my After Effects CC and Premiere CC to work on some animation videos I had to produce for client. And when I wanted to export my animation. I could not find my Quicktime Codec settings like. H264, Mp4, Apple Pro res or any other quicktime codec. I read some articles on issues with Mavericks/Qucktime and this export problem in After Effects and Premiere. But I could not find a solution. It used to work on 10.8.5!
I tried this... But it did not work ;-(

I tried to uninstall perian. But did not help at all. They even discontinued the product.
Does anyone else stumbled on this problem? Or maybe has a solution? I thought of downgrading to 10.8.5 But that is not ideal because I don't have a Time machine Backup from that period or earlier. And otherwise I have to collect all my data, emails, pictures etc. I seriously could use some help!

After uninstalling and reinstalling the entire Adobe CC suite and all QuickTime components I was still dead in the water. I then tried another User account on my computer and AE and AME worked perfectly with fast startup and all QT/H.264 components in place. This established the problem was in my main User directory...
After some backing up, I deleted all Adobe and com.Adobe.whatever files from User/Library/Preferences and then restarted the computer. I then copied all Adobe and com.Adobe.whatever files from the other user folder and restarted and found that After Effects and Adobe Media Encoder were working perfectly:

  • Multiple monitor issues with quicktime.

Hi, I can never get this issue sorted out with Quicktime. I run windows xp and use 2 screens. Whenever I open a quicktime movie it takes over one of my screens so I can't do anything on it except watch the quicktime movie. Is there a way I can run quick time so it runs only on the screen I have quicktime running and leave my other screen alone??
    Thanks,
    Syed.

Are your monitors set up correctly in the Display control panel settings for primary and secondary? I had a similar problem where a QT video would always open on the monitor to the left cannot remember how I resolved it, so thinking it might be the Display control panel. Or clearing recent in player prefs.

  • Audio Playback issues with quicktime 7 and iTunes - distorted sound

I was informed by my Soundcard manufacturer that Quicktime7 now requires a "real" WDM driver.
Many soundcards seems to have a "fake" WDM driver and this leads to chopped up sound that is completely distorted / garbled and impossible to listen to.
The fix is to downgrade to an older version of quicktime and iTunes.
I'm posting this because it was driving me crazy that there is no information on this in the support pages from Apple even if there are plenty of reported issues with audio playback. The system requirements from Apple does not mention the WDM driver either. I am not sure if this "true" WDM driver has to be "windows signed" and all unsigned drivers are "fake".
I'm sure the changed requirements has changed because of the need to address more audio channels but it would be great if the "safe mode" would accept "fake" WDM drivers.
I have also requested a driver revision from my soundcard manufacturer. We'll see...

  • Any issues with QuickTime 7.1.2 upgrade?

    Hello,
I've been cautious about upgrading to QuickTime 7.1.2 from QuickTime 7.1.1 which came with my Tiger 10.4.7 upgrade. There isn't too much information from these forums nor from Version Tracker and MacFixIt. I see no problems with the current version except for an occasional non-response to playing video. Any advice would be much appreciated. I'm well backed up to another internal HD and to a (bootable) firewire HD.
    TIA.
    Raymon

    Hello,
I have not had a single problem with Quicktime 7.1.2 with OS 10.4.7 on my machines. You can see the specs on my machines in my details below.
    Everything works great. No problems
I've upgraded one system to Quicktime Pro and the other is just Quicktime. Both are the latest release, and both work fine.
    I hope this helps.

I am able to play the videos fine with VLC.

May we assume the content is stored in a "muxed" container? If so, try demultiplexing the data to paired elementary data streams.

  • Issues with Quicktime videos

    Hi all,
    I run Golive CS2 8.0
Having some trouble with quicktimes on my site, am learning Go Live as I go so please bear with me.
First, I want the video and controls to come up right away so that people can see the loading progress. Right now the layer is just black for about a minute while the video loads.
Second, I can't get the quicktime controls to work, play, pause, volume etc.
The control bar and timeline show up, AFTER the video has finished loading but no response.
    These seem like simple questions..
    Cheers,
    Kevin

  • Pro Audio Issues with Quicktime 7.1.2

Previous version of Quicktime worked fine with Bounce function of Digital Performer, which blends audio and video in QT file. However, QT 7.1.2 does not function and returns "Mas, 1 error reported by quicktime export plugin [-37]" as error report.
Please help in fixing or possibly suggest how I can remove this version of QT and replace it with previous version.

  • A Possible Solution to the Issues with QuickTime  + Beloved Question Mark.

This is a possible solution to this issue. I have been doing some thinking about this. I have suggested the answer would come from Apple Computer, through an update of "QuickTime". I looked at the applications using the internet. I highlighted them, did a "Find Info" or Apple/Command-I. I decided to check the "Rossetta" box and in my case, better functionality. One thing, make sure you check all of them. I am not jumping up and down and screaming I have the answer. I am just saying it's a possibility. If you want to go this route, let's talk if we run into problems. This is the purpose of the discussion boards.

  • Possible issue with Quicktime and VLC

OK,I had updated my Quicktime(7.4)a couple weeks ago and ever since I can't seem to play any avi or mov files with VLC player. Most of the time I get audio but no picture. The error I get after about 5 seconds is "macosx: QT doesn't support any appropriate chroma" Anyone have an idea on how to remedy the problem? I try playing the avi and mov files in Quicktime but they're very choppy.

Suggest that you also post over in the VLC Forums.

Who are you directing that to?
To you if I'm not mistaken...you upgraded to 9.0-1 via pacman,
but the fix was in 9.01 not 9.0-1.
If you read my post, I was responding to Vex who said 9.0[-1] fixed his issue. Knowing that 9.0[-1] != 9. 01 (and that the fix was in 9.01) , I told him it was weird that 9.0-1 fixed his problem (which is more polite than saying, "Bullsh*t!"), and I confirmed the weirdness by pointing out that the 9.0-1 upgrade I had performed earlier that morning did nothing for me (nor did I expect it to because the fix was in 9.01). Finally, I confirmed that building and installing 9.01 did the trick (as it was supposed to).
I don't really think anybody was confused about 9.0-1 != 9.01. That's why I asked who Stonecrest was talking to. No big deal.

  • Possible Security Issues with Quicktime?

    Hi all,
I keep a pretty close security watch on my computer and what is happening in the background. I have Norton NAV2008 and Spy Sweeper running and I am always going into Norton to see what the activity list has to say.
Quicktime (qttask.exe) makes frequent and large changes to my Windows start-up files through modification of the registry settings.
I do not like to see programs making these changes, as most malware and worms do this type of thing.
Is this normal activity for Quick Time or should I be worried here?

    Ken,
Thanks for answering. Norton just reports the activity as "qttask.exe has made 79 changes to your Windows Start up Files". It gives it a low priority and didn't come up as a "pop up" that required action. It seems like it knows that Quicktime is a program that sometimes does this and it is just reporting it as such.
As I said, I have no idea whether QT does these changes on a regular basis as part of its program, hence my question here. Yes, QT is used by Itunes and that is what I exclusively use it for. Itunes doesn't work without it apparently, as I noticed the file manipulation and previously removed Quicktime. Then when I tried to use Itunes, it squawked and said QT wan't installed.
    Thanks again for the reply.

  • Problem with QuickTime Movies From iMovie HD

I posted this earlier (on the second day of Leopard's Release), and did not get much feedback, and so thought I'd try again after people have had time to run Leopard.
I have some movies that I created using iMovie HD. I have the QuickTime version of the movie for use with Front Row.
On my G5 iMac running Leopard, the quality of the movies on Front Row is fine. However, in Leopard, the quality is lousy. The movies were made from still photos, using the Ken Burns effect. There are also transitions. On the web, on my iWeb site, the pictures take a while to come into focus. I sort of expect this on the web. However, I've found the same thing with the movie files using Front Row on Leopard. Again, this slowness in coming into focus does not appear when playing the movie on Front Row on Tiger on a G5 iMac.
Curious if anyone else has encountered problems/issues with QuickTime movies files from iMovie HD. And if so, what if any fixes are available.
    Thanks in advance.
    Russell

Hmmmm, so it works OK in Front Row but NOT in Quicktime player? Thats odd. Front Row works worse for me!
It sounds like it may be a rendering problem with Quicktime - It has to process the file in general (or parts of the file, for example, if you export 10 pics looped in Flash, it has to process the 10 image files each time it plays it through, resulting in the first 4 or 5 images to shoot out jerkily [read LAG] unlike the rest of the movie, which is smooth). If these images in your movie are large in file size or contain tons of wacky photoshopped effects, etc, that might be whats causing the problem.
I'd check everything is updated to the latest version, repair permissions on the disk in Disk Utility, and then see if anythings improved.
    Hope this helps you.
