MiniDVI to HDMI adaptor doesn't work

I've currently got my Mini connected to a projector via Mini Display Port to VGA adaptor, then a long VGA cable. It works, but I can't get full image size. Meanwhile, I've got a DVD player connected via HDMI to the same projector. That works great and gives a full image size. You can read more about my problem here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2280998&tstart=0
So I decided to get a MiniDVI to HDMI adaptor, and connect that to the HDMI cable instead of to the DVD player. That shows me nothing. Blue screen.
Any ideas?

Yep, that's exactly what I'm doing, using the MBP to control the Mac Mini over Screen Sharing.
The good news is, I have an image coming from the mini to the projector. I guess I must have not had the HDMI cable plugged in all the way the last time.
The bad news is, the same problem I had using the mini display to VGA is present now using mini dv to HDMI. That is, the image is only about 4' wide, compared to the image that comes from the DVD (via HDMI) that's 6' wide. I was thinking switching to HDMI would solve that.
I'm using SwitchResX to control the resolution. I've got it set for 1080p, but I've tried all the other settings. The only settings which project a 6' wide image are the ones called "stretched". All of these show the full-sized image, but it's enlarged and cropped to varying degrees.
Any suggestions?

  • Mini displayport HDMI adaptor doesn't work

I bought a mini display port to HDMI adaptor for my Macbook Pro. But every time i plug it into my tv it only shows the default purple sky background and none of my actually stuff. I don't know why it's doing this. can anyone help?

It's working.  That's called extended desktop mode.  Grab and app on your desktop and drag it off the right side of the screen.  It will appear on the other monitor.
You can mirror your displays by pressing CMD F1.
All these settings are in System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement tab

  • Power adaptor doesn't work

My power adaptor doesn't work at times. I have to jiggle in and hold it in at just the right position, for it to work. Would Apple replace a faulty power adaptor like that? Alternatively, is there anything I can do about it?
Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you.

Apple will typically replace a faulty power adapter if you are still within your one year warranty period and there are no clear signs of abuse. Just give them a call... or, if you have an Apple store nearby, bring it in. If you go to a store, you should bring your MacBook in as well just to be sure that the problem isn't related to an issue on the MacBook side vs. just the charger.

  • Rocketfish Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter doesn't work

I recently bought a Rocketfish adapter for my late 2010 Macbook Pro and it doesn't work on my TV. I'm going to try swapping it out tomorrow to see if that's the problem, but just in case it wasn't, I thought I'd come and ask someone who'd know the answer. The TV is an Insignia TV, the HDMI cable works - we use it for out BluRay player - the adapter just...doesn't work. When I turn the TV on, my screen briefly goes to a light blue, then back to my normal desktop. Mildly frustrating that this won't work. Anybody have any advice they can offer?

CLICK "SYSTEM PREFERENCES", THEN FIND AND CLICK THE "DISPLAY", GO TO AND CLICK THE "ARRANGEMENT" AND CLICK "MIRROR DISPLAY" PROBLEM SOLVE GUARANTEE, AND ON THE AUDIO PROBLEM, GO TO "SOUNDS AND CLICK "HDMI" OR "VGA" IF YOU ARE USING VGA CORD. NO NEED TO UPDATE THE SOFWARE. WORKS LIKE MAGIC.

  • Dr. Bott Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cable doesn't work.

I'm trying to connect my MacBook (mid 2010) with my tv and I can't get it working properly. I have the HDMI cable, and the mini display port to the HDMI cable. When I connect the computer to the tv, the computer screen turns light blue like it is about to synchronize, but the tv screen remains black. After a moment, 2 boxes appear on my tv screen. One says "HDMI1: and  the other "no signal detected".
I've tried with "detect displays", I've tried connecting to all the HDMI ports I have on my TV, I've tried basically everything but it still doesn't work.
This is the adapter - http://www.drbott.net/product/7395-MDPA/
My TV is a fairly new Samsung, and everything else is working fine, I don't know why this won't function. It's frustrating me.
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

When I have this problem, it is because my Macbook Pro is using "Integrated" graphics vs the "Descrete" graphics.  I control this via the gfxCardStatus menubar utility.
You could also try reseting the smc controller

    and/or resetting the PRAM

    That exhausts my ideas.

  • My hdmi adaptor won't work in ios7

I recently updated my ipad 4 to the latest ios7 to my dismay any adapters bought with the ipad now don't work, especially the hdmi adaptor for video out

Restart your device by holding the power and home buttons simultaneously. Don't release them until you see the Apple logo. Don't worry, you will not lose any data.
    Try again.

  • My HDMI port doesn't work

Hello I upgraded my windows to 8.1-64 bit and after that I found out my HDMI port and Bluetooth doesn't work , from this page I download Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver which finish installing with a error that says---------------------------
This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software.---------------------------
also I downloaded Qualcomm Atheros Bluetooth 4.0+HS Driver for Microsoft Windows but nothing happend , in the other hand I am prety sure that my product bluetooth is  Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software for Bluetooth® technology (it was previous  windows driver)  that I downloaded it from this link and it didn't work.I'd appreciate it if someon help me.procuct model: pavilion dv6-6c55se

Hi: I don't think you are going to have any luck running W8.1 on that machine. The Intel graphics driver won't work because you have the custom AMD/Intel switchable graphics and only the AMD driver should be used for that setup as it also contains the special Intel graphics drivers needed. You can try this W8 driver for the graphics, and if it doesn't work on W8.1, then game over. This package provides the AMD High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver and Catalyst Control Center for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. For notebooks with switchable graphics modes, this package includes drivers for both graphics processing units (GPUs). Switchable graphics enable users to switch between a power-saving graphics mode (normally used under battery power) and a high-performance graphics mode. If high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) video output is supported, this package also installs the HDMI Audio Driver. File name: sp59850.exe The Intel bluetooth...you posted a W8 driver. I would try the W8.1 driver... https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/23449/Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-for-Bluetooth-technology-for-Windows-8-1- If you are unsure as to what bluetooth driver you need, you always install the corresponding model bluetooth driver for the model wireless card your notebook has. So, if you have an Intel wireless card, then you install the Intel bluetooth driver. If you have an atheros wireless card, then you install the atheros bluetooth driver, and so forth.

  • Qosmio X70-A-11Q - HDMI Monitor doesn't work

    Hello
I work on my Laptop with 2 external monitors. One is connected via VGA and the other via HDMI. That all worked fine until yesterday where my HDMI monitor couldn't be found.
    Things i already tested:
I tested the moitor by connecting it with another computer and it worked (with HDMI), so the monitor can't be the issue.
I also tried an other HDMI cable...didn't work ether.
BIOS is updated to the latest version
graphics driver from NVIDIA graphics card and from the standard intel graphics card are updated to the latest version.
Also a strange thing: when im in the BIOS menu while having VGA plugged in the screen keeps turning black for 1-2 secounds and then turning on again
Would be great to get some tips on what i can do :)
    thanks

    Hi
Are you able to use the HDMI out port without connecting another additional monitor to the VGA port? Please check this because from my experience it should be possible to use either the VGA or HDMI port.
However, I think the problem might be related to one of the graphic card driver.
Why? Because I think that one video out port would be controlled by one graphic chip.
In case you are using two monitors at the same time (VGA and HDMI) one video graphic card (nVidia or Intel) would control VGA port and the other HDMI port.
I think you should reinstall the Intel display driver.
First of all you should uninstall the installed Intel display driver from the system (do that in device manager). Then you should reboot the notebook. On the Toshiba EU driver page you would find the latest Intel driver v10.18.10.3308
This driver is released for Win 8.1 as well as Win 8 and Win 7
Would recommend you to install this version to fix the HDMI problem

  • HDMI Mirror doesn't work

I have an iPad 2 (32gb, 3G) connected to a ViewSonic PJD6531w HDMO 1080P Projector using the Apple HDMI connector. And a 50ft HDMI cable.
Over the last hour of fidgeting, the iPad screen appeared briefly for about 4 seconds, then went away. Restarting ipad, restarting projector, unplugging and plugging in cables, doesn't help.
Just can't get mirroring to work.
    Any ideas?

Ok .. i tried a shorter cable (3 foot), still no iPad2 image coming out on projector.
Is it an incompatibility between the iPad HDMI out and the projector?

  • MacBook Pro DVI-HDMI 1080p doesn't work correctly

    Hello,
I've just bought new Samsung LCD TV LE40B550. This TV is Full HD and support 1080p. I've connected it via DVI (macbook pro) -> HDMI (TV) cable. It works ok, when I set 1080i. But when I set up 1080p, it shows few dots (pixels) on TV not correctly. The picture is not that good as 1080i. Shouldn't it be reversely? The 1080p should be 1080i, shouldn't be?

You probably want to post this in the MacBook Pro forum:

There is a sub forum just for displays, video out, and video accessories.

  • HDMI audio doesn't work

I'm using an Acer Aspire Revo R1600 as a mediacenter using XBMC. It's connected to our Samsung TV (pretty sure it's the ES8000) through a Pioneer VSX-922 amplifier (or to be more precise, A/V receiver). It's connected to the receiver over HDMI, which links the video through to the television.
Now the problem: This setup worked fine with my old TV, a pretty old Philips model. The second I plugged in the new TV, the amplifier wouldn't output any sound anymore. When I connect it to my computer monitor (which has a 3.5mm jack to connect PC speakers to) sound works fine, and so does the 3.5mm headphone jack on the front. I'd like not to use that though, seeing that the output volume is extremely low and I don't like cranking up my amplifier about halfway just to watch a movie at reasonable volume.

I tried following that guide, but
    aplay -D plughw:0,3 /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav
didn't play anything. I also tried connecting the computer to the television directly, still no audio output.
Something I also tried was putting the aplay -D in a while loop, and then plugging the HDMI cable in while it's looping, to no avail.

  • HDMI Audio doesn't work on Windows 10 Tech Preview

I am using a HP ENVY TouchSmart 15-j053cl Notebook PC and often plug it directly into my television for streaming video. However, after updating to windows 10 tech preview the HDMI output for audio no longer appears in playback devices, though video is fine. Upon further inspection I found that the device is not starting via device manager, i.e
"This device cannot start. (Code 10)
    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful."
I attempted to reinstall the driver from the support site for windows 8.1, but that had no effect. The driver I installed
    IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver 2013-09-30 , Version6.10.6491.0, 43.95M
    Located http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4158&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=5390...
Are there any drivers out yet that can bridge the gap from 8.1 to 10?

  • IPad 2 hdmi mirroring doesn't work for videos

Ok, am I the only one who can't get the display mirroring to work on iPad 2? I plugged the hdmi adapter in to the iPad and got the Home screen to mirror, but when I played a video using the 'Videos' app the video displayed on my tv, but not on the iPad. iPad just showed a message 'your video is playing on your tv, (paraphrase). I would appreciate any help.

Ok folks. Here was my deal. After trying my AV adapter unsuccessfully on 3 different hdtv's, I decided to take my HDMI adapter back to the Apple Store today. They swapped it out, no problems. Now, I simply plug in the HDMI cable to the adapter then the adapter to the iPad and voila - mirroring works. Upon further investigation (asking the dude at the Apple Store), there was a bad batch of the AV-HDMI adapters.
So if ur having problems, consider swapping your adapter out.
    Good luck!
