Minimize and closing ITunes

After installing both version 7 and 8 of ITunes, it is now very hard to minimize or close the program using the _ or X in the upper right hand corner. If I click several times on each and then click serveral times at ramdon on othe parts of the program, I can usually get it to work. I can always go the the task bar and complete my actions there, but am wondering if anyone else has had this same problem closing or minimizing ITunes.
Thanks, Randy

I have been also having this issue with my 5th Gen 30gb iPod. Once plugged in, iTunes does not minimize, but when closing, iTunes restarts by itself. After closing it again, it restarts again, over and over. This does only occur when the iPod is plugged in.
A fresh install of Windows XP Pro does not change this issue on my PC. I have noticed this issue has only started within the last month; the iPod was purchased in Oct. '06.
Thank you.

  • Itunes v10.5.2 will not re-open after using it and closing it once on my Windows XP computer.

After installing the latest version of itunes, v10.5.2, on my Windows XP computer, I find that once I close itunes, it will not re-open until I restart my computer.  The itunes icon remains in my system tray and is unresponsive.  The only way I can use itunes after opening and closing it once is to restart my computer.  I've checked for updates and support guidance on itunes.com to no avail.  I've even tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it did not fix the problem.  I was not having this problem with the previous version of itunes.  Any advice.

Have you tried the following option also?:
    - Close the frozen itunes using task manager
    - In task manager go to the 'process' tab
    - Find and select 'APSDaemon.exe'
    - Click 'end process' then close the task manager
    - Re-open iTunes.

I connected my friends ipod to my laptop whilst I was playing some songs and closed whatever came up on the screen from itunes. Next thing I know his ipod has been wiped and we can't find his music. How do we get his music back? He hasn't got his laptop anymore so the only music he has was on his ipod.

Hasn't he got a backup of his content on external drives and/or CDs or DVDs ?

You're welcome. Glad you got things sorted out.

  • Installed new iPod + iTunes, closed iTunes and can't open it

I was running on 10.3.8, and QT 6.5.2 and iTunes 4.6. Installed to 10.3.9, QT 7.0, and ran the iPod installer, and installed QT 7.0.3, everything seemed to work fine. My iTunes updated and I pulled my music over to the iPod, then I ejected the ipod, checked and the music was there, then I closed out of iTunes. When I went back, I couldn't open it. When I tried it would seem like it wanted to open, but nothing would show. I would have to force quit, same thing with my QT now. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it.

I figured out something. I uninstalled my Protools and my iTunes worked, then I reinstalled QT 7.0.1. At one point, my QT read 'QT Version 7.0.3, but my player still read 6.5.2 after all the iPod updating, so I reinstalled to make both 'version' and 'player' read the same, then updated to 7.0.3 and added Pro key, and everything seems fine.
    Hope it helps.
Now, I'm trying to figure out why I can drag a m4v to my iTunes?

I recently had to reinstall my software for a
dell computer a dell latitude d 830, then after installing all of my software and such including itunes the player did well even record to disks with no problems now that my system has done alot of updating of system files....now the itunes does not burn to my cd...error message 2131 this time
The 2131 usually indicates firmware needs to be updated on a drive.
Head to your drivers and downloads page for your latitude at Dell, and check for updates to your firmware for your optical drives. If you're behind and you update, does that clear up the 2131?

What do you mean 'does not ship unless he closed' ? What are you trying to do with your iPad, and what happens when you do it ?
If your computer's iTunes isn't recognising the iPad then do you have the latest version of iTunes installed on your computer ?

  • CD won't work without closing and relaunching itunes

I've found that cannot rip CDs without closing itunes, loading the CD, and closing the CD player. Once that happens, itunes will launch and the CD information will come up and I can rip the CD. If I load the CD without closing and relaunching itunes, the CD player will run, but itunes will never recognize it. I can see the CD is in the player if I look in My Computer and Windows Media will play it, but not itunes. When I'm ripping an audio book with 20-some CDs, going through this process for every disc gets to be painful and annoying. Any advice or help is greatly appreciated. (Diagnostics indicate that the CD player is functioning correctly.)

OK. I'm signing up on there now and will let you know once I have my stuff there. In the meantime, you think you could go through the following article and see if anything's missing - http://www.inside-oracle-apex.com/oracle-apex-4-0-cascading-lovsselect-lists/? I've followed that article to implement my stuff. I was having the same issue with my Apex 3.1 application. It wasn't working with the Select List option. I had to choose the Select List with Submit option. That's the main reason I decided to get to the latest version so that I get it done with Select List.
    Thanks

  • Mini player does not work, can only switch playlists by closing and restarting iTunes

For the last few versions of iTunes, my mini player does not work, only choices are large window and larger window.  Also, if I am listening to a playlist and hit the pause button, then switch to another playlist, the old playlist keeps playing when I hit play.  The only way I can figure out to switch playlists is to quit and relaunch iTunes.

    try rebooting the ipad
you know holding down the on button and the home button until the slider comes
and turn it off and start it up again

  • ITunes will not shutdown I have to Contrl-Alt-Delete and end itunes.exe and itunes help to get it to shut down and stay closed. I did a system restore and went back to 10.5.1 version and updated to 10.5.3 no dice Windows 7 64 bit

Itunes will not stay close ever since I updated to 10.5.3 version. I try to close program and it pops right back up! The only way to close is open tack manager and stop the itunes.exe and the itunes.help then it will stay close. I did a system restore back to the earlier version of itunes but problem presisted. I finally did the task manager again and downloaded the update to 10.5.3 and this seemed to resolve the problem for awhile but now it is back! Is anybody else experiencing this problem? and where you able to correct it? I'm running Windows 7 64 bit have never had a problem with anything till now. I ran scans of my machine no viruses.

    Hi,
i have exactely the same problem.
After the update to v10.5.3 iTunes isn't shutting down anymore. I have this error on various Windows versions (XP SP3, Win7 x86, Win7 x64.
On my private Notebook v10.5.2.11 still works! I won't update iTunes there - not even for a test .

  • I just purchased a new iphone 4s and opened itunes and purchased a ringtone.  Today I pushed the itune icon and it opened and promptly closed. How can I fix this?

I just purchased a new iphone 4s and opened itune store and purchased a ringtone.  Today I tried to open itune store again and it won't run the app.
I pushed the itune store icon and it opens and promptly closes. I tried multiple times.  How can I fix this?

    Try This...
Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    If no joy...
    Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings

  • Full startup disc, applications freezing and closing down

    Hi,
My computer is freezing and closing applications down. It says my startup disk is full. My HD has 120GB and 113GB of it are used. But my iPhotos and iTunes only take up approx 40GB. Where is the rest of the space?? Help topics recommended to check Consol messages; I have 3,524 but have no idea what they mean or what to do about them. For example, the latest is
    06/10/2013 23:15:34
    Finder[144]
    pearlBrowserSelectionChanged.
Can anyone help please? Many thx in advance!

Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
    iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of your data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
If you're using Time Machine to back up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of files you've recently deleted. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as "Backups." The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself.
To locate large files, you can use Spotlight. That method may not find large folders that contain a lot of small files.
You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders. It may take some minutes for ODS to list all the files.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal.
